Thank you for sharing Athenril, Theo looks even better with the new wig and eyes. I just marvel at how cute he is!
I ordered a Joyce myself recently I originally wasn't even planning on getting another human sculpt but here we are. I'm going to be dying her a dark tan once I get her. I'm not sure when that will be though. How long did you guys end up waiting for your charm doll orders?
Congrats on your order! I waited 10 weeks, but I ordered directly from their Taobao store. So about 3 months would be my guess.
I'm guessing 3-4 months wait from a dealer. I've got another month left. Congratulations @AnOldSalty! Joyce is cute. Dyeing her tan will be interesting. That is the one thing I'm afraid to try. I applaud all who does it! The results are amazing and worth the effort.
Thank you both! That means I might get her my birthday month :0 I'll definitely post some pictures once I receive her, and after she's been dyed!~
I found a picture of Charm Doll's tan color on Taobao. The color is really nice imo, but it seems to be translucent resin, which I'm not a fan of. Naked doll warning: Spoiler
Your Renard is so lovely! Both styles you've shown him in look amazing, and the garland suits him so well. Congrats on such a cute doll!
Wow, Renard sure looks different in tan. It's ok, but not what I would prefer. I like his body, this picture shows it off pretty well. I still love those ears!
I'm not much of a fan of their tan which is why I'll be dying Joyce myself. Also, wow Renard has a lovely body and ears.
@Pillar Thank you! It's such an adorable sculpt. I wish companies didn't use that translucent resin, it doesn't look good and turns green so easily.
In some places it's applicable if the details would look better translucent (like soom with their fairy dolls) but for the full body of a doll it really shouldn't be translucent because there's no good reason for it
Hi everyone!!! I'm loving all your dolls :OO I'm ordering a Randy from angelesque soon and hoping he'll be here by december, but idk ;v; I havent seen any other randys around, but I dont really mind because I already have his exact character in mind lol.
@Skullingten Congrats! Randy is really cute, do show him off when you get him! What kind of look will he have?
@Skullingten congratulations on ordering a Randy! I haven't seen any one say they have one, so I'm looking forward to seeing yours at least. What resin color? I'm ashamed to say, I knew about Charm Doll for years, but never looked at their dolls until Renard. Now, any new releases will get my attention. And I'm happy others are discovering them too!
New doll coming to CD soon it seems: Sina Visitor System I like his outfit, but the face is very similar to Renard without the ears.
I agree, his face does look very similar to Renard, and yes, that outfit is gorgeous! Unusual clothing is rare, and I'm glad CD offers fullsets. Some companies don't! They show the doll all done up, but don't offer the outfit, wig, or eyes.
@Athenril In the case that he's able to be here by December ('cause my mum is actually getting him as a Christmas present for me!! //i love her so much// (but if he can't get here by then thats ok; i have a large list of dolls I have solid characters for!!)) his character is gonna be quite androgynous and flashy, and VERY sarcastic and pompous. I'm hoping to get him a white wig sort of like the one in his company photos, and colour the tips baby pink or baby blue ^^ (or both!! :0 ). He's gonna mainly wear pink, white and blue @kurogane I wanna get him in normal white I was so surprised CD isn't that popular to be honest, their dolls look really well made and have a really cute aesthetic that I think a lot of people here would like!! And their bodies are beautiful!
I really like Charmdoll's MSD body. Does anyone here have her? Is she a good poser? My DIM heads need bodies.
@thessalyrose I only have the boy body, but they're similar and in my opinion, the poseability is pretty basic. The arms pose very well, but the legs and torso, not so much.
Hm, well that's disappointing. I don't think I'll risk it, at least not until I can see some owner pictures. I don't know exactly where the threshold is, but I need some level of posability to bond with a doll.
I asked Alice's how much longer, and she said Charm Doll usually goes 4 months. Then I got a second email saying my doll will be ready in 10 days. Yay!
Wow nice! Congrats! ^^ I'm still waiting for my Joyce, I hope the 4 month waiting time isn't entirely accurate, I kinda wanna get her during my birthday month haha
@AnOldSalty I guess it depends on where you ordered from. Direct from Charm Doll is the fastest, but since I haven't ever used a buying proxy, I went with Alice's Collection. I ordered May 20th, so it was 3 months Aug 20. But you can't count weekends or Chinese Holidays. Still not so bad compared to Doll Zone waits.
I ordered from Alice's Collections July 28th and I'm hoping I'm going to get her sometime in October but yeah who knows. Definitely happy it's not Doll Zone waits though haha.
My Renard has been shipped! Ordered through AC May 20th, shipped September 7th. Just a little over three months.
Congrats on the shipment @kurogane! That's quite the wait, hopefully he arrives to you quickly! I'm getting kind of unhappy with my Renard, received a bunch of clothes I ordered months ago and not a single item fit him, the shirts, the pants...nothing. Thinking maybe putting him on a Resinsoul body instead, because I do love his cute little face.
@Athenril oh, no! Is the body too chunky for the clothes? Now I wonder if the outfit I have will fit. Resinsoul is a great option! I have two bodies on order myself for other heads. Mine should come next month so I can see about trying Renard on one of them. Dressing dolls has been very frustrating.
Oh, that would be absolutely wonderful if you could share a picture! ^_^ Yes, his torso is too thick and the hips as well, and as a bonus his fingers don't fit through the sleeves and I can't remove the hands because they are strung so tight, that I'm worried I will chip his wrists. The clothes are for regular MSD size too, not for slim ones or anything like that. I would definitely suggest buying stretchy things for Renard, to reduce the risk of them not fitting.
That's really unfortunate. I hope Joyce isn't that way ^~^ I can't afford another body if it doesn't work- I already need a new body for one of my dolls.
oh god, everybody writing here makes it really tempting to buy Renard. He has been spooking around my head since the last 4 weeks or so... and the waiting time seems so nice (waiting for two loongsoul dolls at the moment) I will wait and follow this thread and check out more owner photos :3 but his ears! his dreamy face! The only problem is I wouldn't know what do with him. I already ordered two dolls with similar-ish ears (Doll Family A Anasta and LoonSoul Tiny Aman). That would make three dolls in the deer/herbivore section...but for my Yokai-Apartmenr I would like to have more variety... I am not so much worried about the clothes, as i would make most of them myself... I think..... hm...for now I shall be glued to this post and look at more owner pics ( ☆∀☆) Hopefully it helps me to make up my mind! if any of you have some comparison pictutres with other MSD (for me especially girls, though mine are rather tall with 45 cm) and maybe Tinies (around 26cm)? I wonder what the proportion will look like....
I just saw that Alice's Collections has a pink skin Renard with face up in stock. So I guess if someone wants one, no three month wait!
My guy has reached US Customs today. He could arrive tomorrow, but most likely Wednesday. I want to see those ears in person!
My Renard arrived today. I will share the box opening and pictures when the internet is behaving better. I tried for two hours. Anyway, I'm super pleased with him! And, yes, he is big and heavy for a msd. The clothes I got fit, but are tight. I love the head, the only reason I got him, but the body is really nice too. The knees and elbows are double jointed, and the shoulders have knobs so you can put them in any raised position and they stay. The ankles are my least favorite. Too thick, but I'll ignore them.
OK, I come bearing a picture! Charm Doll Dressed up by SD Hampton, on Flickr Here is Mica, all dressed up. I have changed the eyes as the free ones are just too creepy. Plus they are the wrong color. The wig needs a wig cap so it will stay down on the head. The outfit fits, though tight. I made the jacket, the rest was pieced together. I'm very happy with my Renard. He fits in with my doll collection perfectly.
@RumDilly Hopefully as more people get Renard, there will be more pictures! I think there's never enough cute ears! @kurogane Congrats on your boy!! I love the outfit you have for him, very unique!
I love those blue eyes, I've been looking for more realistic eyes, but the shipping is always so expensive! >.< Are you going to do his faceup yourself, @kurogane? We finally got a bit of sunlight so I took a few shots of my Theo. Reds by Aylena Ceran, on Flickr
@Athenril thank you! I was fortunate that the blue eyes fit. They were bought years ago for a doll, but didn't fit, or something. I can't remember. But I kept the eyes as they are so pretty. They are a two tone blue with glitter. I agree about the shipping costs and having to always order overseas. I live in the US, so I do have more options, but I rarely find what I like here. Yes, I will do the face up myself. I think I'm going to try using gouache watercolor instead of acrylic paint. I have issues getting the acrylic paint to flow smoothly for fine lines. I have tried watercolor pencils, but they have their issues too. I've seen some beautiful face ups done with watercolor paints. Now I have to wait for good weather. Maybe there is a chance this year, but I might have to wait till next spring. If I can use acrylic sealer, then I can paint anytime. I'm going to experiment. Your Theo is so cute! A face up does make a difference! Theo looks so serene and happy, while my Mica looks like he has puffy eyes and is a little grumpy. And, the outfits you put together are just stunning! Every detail is gorgeous!
I think it's kind of baffling that shipping a pair of tiny glass eyeballs costs as much as the eyes themselves. >.< The sculpt does look really different with a faceup, doesn't it? But I think that shows that it has potential to look really interesting and different, depending on how it's painted. Some sculpts seem to always look the same, regardless of the faceup they have. I hope you can paint him soon! I'm glad you like his outfit, it looks like it's the only one he will have for a very long time as he doesn't fit in anything else. xD Thankfully my Hal can fit in most things so suddenly he has all the clothes to himself!
I kind of want to do my own faceup when Joyce gets here but I'm really nervous I'd mess it up. I'm already going to be dying her myself I wouldn't want to also try doing a faceup. But I may anyways because I don't want a poor blank doll. Who knows.
CD has two new dolls! Remy, 45cm Charm Doll Boy - BJD Dolls, Accessories - Alice's Collections Rhea, 42cm Charm Doll Girl - BJD Dolls, Accessories - Alice's Collections I love the styling, but the faces look a little too serious for my taste.
oooh they are very cute indeed but I understand what you mean with the serious faces - especially Remy looks so serious o.o Rhea is very cute...but the special ears confuse me...
Both are very beautiful. I do like Remy, serious face and all. Even the outfit. The ears though, something's off a bit. Still, I'd get him if I was buying dolls. I agree Rena's ears are so odd!
I'm planning on possibly getting a Renard soon, too! Does anyone have any more pictures of the blank head?
Charm Doll needs to stop making such beautiful dolls! I’d get Remy in a heartbeat if I was currently looking for new dolls and had money. And yes I agree with you both rhea’s ears confuse me...
My partner just put a tan skin Renard on layaway, I'm so excited! I'll make sure to post some pictures of him for you guys once he comes in. Of course, now that she ordered Renard, I can't stop thinking about how nice Remy's sculpt is.... I've gotta step back and tell myself no
I'll be looking forward to seeing more pictures of Renard in tan! The longer I have my Renard, the more I like his aesthetic and size. He is a little bigger than my other msd, so maybe I should be looking at Volks msd outfits. They might be a little bigger, but cost almost as much as the doll, lol. I'd really like to get a Remy too, but no money, no room, no clothes.
@Auden Here are some blank photos of Renard! ^^ Renard Head_CD-18_Head_Body Parts_Charm Doll I'm glad more people are getting these dolls, they really are lovely. @kurogane I decided to restring my Renard, which was quite the ordeal, but at least he is more manageable now and I'm not scared I'll chip his knees just making him sit down. Makes me happy. Still confused about the clothes though, I was thinking about getting Remy's outfit, but wow it is expensive! Volks size clothes seems a great idea though.
@Athenril I was seriously thinking of getting Remy's outfit, then I saw the price and thought, no way, too expensive. But in reality, it isn't. A Volks outfit can cost $150-$200+. Its just the cost of Remy on special, makes the outfit seem steep, about half the cost of the doll. I think I will pass. I bet the shoes aren't included, sigh.
