Characters Realized

I've been customizing 12" dolls longgg before I got into BJD's. My sister and I used to repaint/re-root them just as much as we do with our Dollfies, and we came up with original characters for a lot of them. We've been into Barbie's and customizing since I was about 8yrs old, so you can imagine how long some of our characters have been with us! Our favorites got transfered into BJD forms, and this was the result:

Sascha, my Elfdoll Lydia was inspired by one of my original 12" dolls, Tommy (even though they couldn't be more different character-wise):

Nesanel is a character of mine that I've been RPing for several years now, and have been playing around the idea of doing a graphic novel of. Alot of my future dolls choices are inspired by the characters of this story because I just love it so much!

Though I changed her face-up to be a little more natural and not so OMGEMOGOTH yesterday. She still looks like the character(I think it's the markings. )

 

Seph is pretty much an exact BJD version of my OC Seph:






Ayase was going to be based on Ayase from Okane ga Nai but he truned out to have a completely different personality.
Aki-chan is modeled after the original god from Fruits Basket. His name is from Sensitive Pornograph but his looks and personality is Kami's.

 

Aedon-doll was inspired by my original character Aedon - the boy in this picture, and with the ears, which are not really his but a manifestation of the demon who's his guardian and occasionally possesses him. ... yeah, they're a bit odd.

I've tried to keep to his character design as closely as possible; only problem is that his wig that's close to the proper sea-green shade is horribly ratty from the dying so I never put him on it, and the wig that still looks nice is the wrong shade. XD And properly with those ears he ought to have a tail, but I haven't gotten around to making one yet... But he's close enough for me. I just need to give him a prettier face-up! WHICH I WILL DO ONE OF THESE DAYS.




... I just love this pic, okay, plus you can see that his eyes are the proper color in it. XD

All of my dolls are based off of my own characters that I draw aloooooot. I think part of the fun of owning these dolls is finding the sculpts that closely resemble the characters you intend to put into them!

Well, Shiwoo was just my first real BJD, but after him came the planning of Butterfly. Butterfly started out as being envisioned as a DZ Yuri who had no relation to Shiwoo whatsoever.
That has completely changed. Not only has Butterfly become Shiwoo's older brother, but he has become a MnF Shiwoo vamp.

I modeled Aleksei after Rhode Camelot from the manga D. Gray-man. That was when I first got her. She is TOTALLY different now.

Well my little nekojin Shreddie is named after the character Shreddie in April J. Martins' book 'The Other Me' (she's also known as Milo2 on DeviantArt). Purely for the fact that her character and my boy (sometimes) share a hair colour and fashion sense...and because of a silly quote from Shreddie out of her book "But then I get to thinking—what if I ate enough cat food and someday I turn into a cat? It’d be great! I’d lie on my back all day long so people could rub my tummy."

Eiji was my first RP character in Vampire:tM. He started out as some whacked up Hyde fan-character... and then evolved over the years into his very own girly Japanese/Brazilian, British accented, pointy nosed, sharp fingered, gun crazy Toreador... Who has a mad taste for rich men and black-mail.

I can't find the glasses anywhere, but after looking at how nice he looks as a doll without the glasses, I decided for my comic restart, I'm just going to nix them all together:


When I was drawing this my mom walked by and said "OMG, are you drawing your doll!?" Thank you Soom for making the perfect face sculpt!

I used a wine colored wig on her for awhile, but I think this one works better even if the color is a bit lighter. Still need to make her default outfit too, but I also have her dressed in ways I'd picture her.

Its been a few years since I was a active artist, now focusing on writing. Old art, but my characters are much alive, I assure you. One by one they are manifesting into dolls.

First doll I manifested was my alter ego, Emily. Then it was my fav yaoi pets Typhoon and Toby, and finally Vincent joined the ranks.



I`ll make a better piece than this later. Tired after PS-whoring all day...

Noire, one of my original characters. She recently got a huge revamp which will soon extend into doll form.

 

This is my much beloved OC, Kevya. (In this drawing he happens to have some scars on his face that his current design doesn't include any more. This was several years ago.)


and this is Kevya, as portrayed by an Iplehouse Barron mod on a Mirodoll modded body.

 

Daolan's revamped look is somewhat based off of Asagi (lead singer of the viskei band 'D'). When I was doing his face-up I mostly referenced pics of Asagi, but other than that, all the other design choices I've made with Dao end up making him look like the singer and most of them are completely unintentional! There's just too many similarities for me not to admit Asagi inspired my doll. I mean look at him, he's got his nose and everything!

 

I know this is probably late for this thread but it looked like a fun topic. Sadly, the two characters I've had in my head the longest haven't been realized in doll form yet. I'm still looking for the perfect sculpts. However, the ones I do have are all OCs that I've drawn before, but I think Raico looks the most like his picture form. He had a metal arm originally and when I got the Ringdoll arm, I adjusted the picture a bit so they'd match up better.

I was looking for the right place to post this and boom here it is.
I bid $0.99 on this head and won, shipping brought the total to 10.99 so here I had this head with no idea what to do with it. So I used it to practice on, he wound up with a few different faces until a friend went to work on him and handed him back completely changed. He has his own project journal in the workshop.

This is one of those threads I'll be coming back to frequently. I'm planning to shell 19 of my characters from the books I'm writing. Many of them are based on characters I've role-played in games, and most of them have been drawn at some point or I've commissioned art of them.

One of the two main characters of my first book is Sanimir. He exists in World of Warcraft as a blood elf, and in Final Fantasy XIV as an elezen. He has had much art done of him, but this is the one that looks most like how I picture him. The elves in my book, have shorter ears (which will make all the ear mods I'll eventually have to do a bit easier too!)

And the doll, who looks a lot as I picture his book character looking (minus the ears because I'm a chicken about mods yet)

 

This is Juniper, my cleric for a Pathfinder campaign. I came up with her a few years ago and when I starting thinking about getting my first resin BJD, I could think of no better candidate for shelling than my dearest Juniper. She's my favorite OC so far. Here's my initial drawing of her from the beginning of the campaign:

I plan on shelling a few other tabletop characters in the future including my Paladin, my Magus and Juniper's twin brother who is someone else's character.

My newest Realized Character is a little different as he wasn't a fully developed character when I got the doll. He was just a series of doodles and sketches I was using in attempt to kill a horrible art block.



I called him John Doe. Then Ringdoll released K, so I bought his head.
