    2. The doll I'm saving up for now is to be a character doll of Ai Mikaze of Uta no Prince-Sama! I want to have him along with my merch display for him.

    3. I really want to do Aphelios from league of legends, Goohwa would be so fitting. I'm just hoping to get my hands on him

    4. I've gone from "never gonna do a character doll, what's the point" when I started the hobby to now having one (Nie Huaisang from mo dao zu zhi/The Untamed) and preparing for a second one (Lan Xichen from the same series).
The Nie Huaisang doll is one I was thinking of selling for cheap just to be rid of it because it was just hanging out and being useless but has now turned into my main and most favourite doll, which is fitting for such a character
I used to think it'd be too limiting to have a character doll, but I end up playing with his looks a lot, trying both to give him accurate clothes and more modern looks... I never expected to have such fun with this, but I'm glad of the impulse decision to make this character

    5. Nie Huaisang doll? Oh I would love to see him!
      Sounds pretty interesting.
I also thought about a Jiang Cheng doll, because I came to like this guy a lot recently

    6. Oh, Jiang Cheng as a doll would be amazing! He's such an interesting character (but, well, they all are!) And I absolutely love what you've shown of your Lan Wangji and Wei Wuxian, they are stunning!

My boy is still very much a work in progress, and he's based on the donghua more than the drama, but still here he is

    7. Wow I wrote that 3/27/11...and I now own an ImplDoll Colby based after Totodile. My obsession with Pokemon has not changed! But besides that, my answer hasn't. I've loved Pokemon for longer than I've loved BJDs, so that's quite an exception. I can't even remember what else I may have been interested in 9 years ago, so it must be a good thing younger me had this acute of foresight into my attachment to things.

    8. I have plans for so MANY character dolls. Most that I have secured heads or bodies from. Its what got me back into the hobby.

      Full dolls coming for:
      Gojo Satoru - Jujutsu Kaisen
Dio Brando - Jojo Bizarre Adventure

      Heads secured for:
      Claude Faustus - Kuroshitsuji
      Alois Trancy - Kuroshitsuji
      Toge Inumaki - Jujutsu Kaisen

      Looking for molds for:
      Getou Suguru - Jujutsu Kaisen
      Hisoka - Hunter x Hunter
      Aizen Sousuke - Bleach

    9. I can't wait to see pictures of him! I, uh, really like DIO.

      • x 1
    10. He's my fav Jojo character! I recently just ordered him tho so he prob wont be here until August then ill ship his head off for faceup so he probably wont be ready until October. I got some eyes for him already (orange like in the anime but Jojo colors change so much I am not sure if I will go with another color) and I got a few wig options I will try to style but if nothing works commissioning a custom wig too.

    11. I have two dolls that are based on existing characters. One was a full set from IOS for Gankutsuou so was designed specifically to be that character by the company. The other is a hybrid I made to look like Ruvik from The Evil Within.

      • x 1
    12. The two current dolls I am working on are Frisk and Chara from Undertale. It's so much fun finding all of the accessories to go with them! They both still need faceups though.

    13. Welp, since this post a couple of years ago, I've added a couple more character dolls to My Crew. :kitty2

13.) Natasha Romanoff: an arachnid version of Black Widow
14.) Adama Ant: a female, ant version of Adam Ant from the 1980s

Also #1 on my list, Sakuma Ryuichi as a five year old has come home. :3nodding:

I'm more than likely not going to do more than keep Ryuichi's toddler/two year old self's faceplate as just that, a faceplate. I didn't realize exactly how tiny a LittleFee is, and I don't think I want to go any smaller. Its difficult as it is to find clothes for a boy LittleFee, and all the PukiFee clothes I've seen so far are for girls. :nowords:

Character dolls are pretty fun, especially if you buy or better yet, make canon outfits for them to wear. Of course, my character dolls also have clothes that are well outside the outfits they're known to wear. :3nodding:

      Ryu

    14. I would love some Final Fantasy XIV characters as mini-sized BJDs. I’m not big on SDs or vinyl, so I passed on the Y’shtola dollfie dream from Volks.

    15. I have several dolls modeled off of video game characters including Heather from Silent Hill 3, two Little Sisters from Bioshock, and Ellie from The Last of Us.

I'm not strict with their appearances. I'm fine with getting the idea of the character across via faceup, eyes and wig. I'll make their signature outfits and props, but will dress them in other things for variety.

    16. I have two! They're still a WIP overall but I have G'raha Tia from FFXIV & Noctis from FFXV. G'raha wasn't planned at all but when I saw the wig on sale, it just clicked for the doll I had ordered and he became that character :D

    17. Several years ago I voted here and said I'd never have a character doll... I was so naive xD
It seems I can't change my vote but... I can tell you I'm waiting on my own version of Doctor Strange!

Two of my dolls urgently needed a change in their characters (or else I was thinking of selling them) and, as I've been writing quite a lot about Doctor Strange and an OC of mine... He's not based on the MCU's Doctor Strange though, but on a particular recent comic plus my personal view of him, so I feel him almost as another OC.

So I sent him to an artist to make a wig and a face-up and I hope he'll be home soon. He's only lacking his red cloak and his blue tunic, but I've decided I'm going to try to do them myself first instead of directly asking a seamstress so I can test my sewing skills a bit. Wish me luck! I'll post some pics here when he's home!

    18. I honestly got into BJD because I wanted to make character dolls from Arknights -- my gf and my favorite game... 5 dolls later and I still haven't made them, but I do have some concrete plans now and will definitely be making them in the future!

    19. I have Sandor Clegane finished. Beric Dondarrion is naked in my china cabinet waiting for clothes. Brienne of Tarth is waiting to come home and then the wait will begin for her clothes. Black Widow is waiting for her body to be strung and for her clothes to arrive.

    20. A have a couple characters that I would love to turn into dolls (Albedo from Genshin Impact and Toge Inumaki from Jujutsu Kaisen) but I'm just so nervous about never finding the perfect sculpt, wig, clothing, etc for them haha! It's mainly the sculpt though, also figuring out if I'd want them as SD's or MSD's

    21. I definitely prefer having my own OCs in doll form, but there are a few exceptions. I have a Dollfie Dream 2B coming home to me soon - she's one of my favorite characters ever! Custom-wise I'd love to make Karin from Revue Starlight or Mima from Perfect Blue. I'm not sure how high up on a want list they would be, though. ...Maybe my girls wouldn't mind cosplaying?

      • x 1
    22. I have Xie Lian from tgcf, and my next customizing projects are going to be to make Mobei Jun and Shang Qinghua from svsss!

Honestly, I got into customizing fashion dolls because i wanted dolls for Eilonwy and Taran from the Prydain Chronicles and characters from Jane Austen and other things that I can't ever seem to find. I always want dolls of my favorite characters and usually can't find them! BJD's are no exception for me :D

    23. I mostly prefer coming up with my own characters and shelling them, but I have come up with plans for dolls based off of the main Howl's Moving Castle characters (it's my favorite Ghibli movie, and is such a comfort to me). I haven't read the book (yet), but I know many changes were made for the film version, so I plan to blend both together to create something new, but familiar!

    24. So here I am, bringing up this old topic xD

I recently build Silco from the LoL-Series Arcane. I love this character so I made my own Silco ^^

He's a Granado V01 Head on a Ringdoll RGM3 Body (because of expensive reasons he has to share the body with Echo).
Initially I wanted to use a Ringdoll K Head, but you know the struggles with sould-out items.

I sculpted Apoxie on the head, made the wig and did the whole outfit. A dear friend of mine is a talented face-up artist. She did the sanding and the face-up.

    25. That’s awesome work @Pinkes Pony ! So many details!

I didn’t have a character doll for the longest time. Thought about it but never really went ahead with it. Then I found a sculpt that screamed at me to turn him into Link from The Legend of Zelda series and yeah, I love him. It has been so much fun making everything for him and getting back into sewing. I’ve been in this hobby since 2007 and this is the first time I’ve actually really modded a doll and gone to this level of craft.

I always thought a character doll would limit my creativity, but it actually forced me to form creative solutions and opened up a whole world for me to craftily explore.

A quick pic of Link in his Twilight Princess garb (I also made his Breath of the Wild kit).

    26. I have 2 YoSDs as Emiya Shirou and Kishinami Hakuno from Fate! I have an SD version of Hakuno, but i'm still shopping around for a good SD Archer body haha.

    27. I would love my doll to cosplay Lysithea from Fire Emblem: Three Houses, but I don't want a full-time Lysithea sitting around judging me all the time!

    28. I don't and don't plan to own any character dolls but man do I really like the looks of some people's! :D

    29. i've been trying to make a doll based off of lanling wang from the fate/grand order game and i even have his mask all sorted out, but for the love of heaven just finding the right kind of wig for him has been nearly impossible.

the closest i've gotten is seeing it on telesthesia's xiao bei, but that's part of a fullset doll and i don't want to buy a whole doll just for a wig lol.

in the meantime i'm trying to get a character made into my elezen from ffxiv. again i have the clothes sorted out, but finding the right wig is proving to be a pain again...

    30. I’m working on Georgie from Stephen King’s IT. I’m having a hard time deciding which version I’m making though, I don’t know if I want to be accurate to one version or just do my interpretation of all of them. Sometimes you choose recognizable over accuracy but I don’t want to get hate from other die hard fans..

    31. I don't at the moment but I do want to at some point.

The doll I got into BJD's to shell is a nearly thirteen year old OC who was initially my player character in Dragon Age Origins. I also want at the very least her love interest.

If I won the lottery I would also like the rest of the characters from that universe as dolls. Which would comprise probably twenty plus dolls in a variety of sizes at least half of which would be Dragon Age characters and a chunk of them would have to be custom cast because I'm a bit pedantic about the scale staying the same and also body shape.

    32. I have a Rin Tohsaka DD and I do like her character/source material but I’m not planning to keep her “in character”. Her original outfit is in storage right now (except the shoes, which are Mika’s now)

    33. I don't have one yet but want to have one based on Mikey and Takemitchy from Tokyo Revengers. Finding ones with faces that match the characters has been hard tho.

    34. I would love to see your dolls, @ZaidaBoBaida!

I was finally able to get Shindou Shuichi his faceup, and I found his sailor fuku! The fuku still needs work, but he looks like his Gravitation character now. :D

Now to find a sunflower hairclip small enough for him, like from the anime. :whee:

    35. Oooh I'm also wanting to make my character from ffxiv into a bjd. He will definitely be my first bjd when I start making him!

      • x 1
    36. I haven't really thought about having one of a character, but after seeing others wanting certain character dolls or made one of video game characters I would love to have at least one in my collection when I start.

    37. I have dolls of Towa and Setsuna from Yashahime as well as an Amity from Owl House. I also have a doll whose character is based heavily on Erina from Food Wars but she's not the exact character. I want to make an Aloy from Horizon: Zero Dawn and I really want a Peter Pan (from the 2003 live action film).

    38. @pendragon.sama Towa and Setsuna would make awesome dolls! I'd love to see them if you've got any photos!

I'm currently working on a Koga and Inuyasha from the Inuyasha anime (Inuyasha will have an anime look and a more semi-realistic head to go alongside Koga). I didn't think I'd like character dolls as much as I do, but now I've got two Link dolls, a Zelda, a modern day Ashitaka from Princess Mononoke, and these two Inuyasha guys.

      Some in progress photos:

    39. OMG LOVE! I used to have a Dollnoize Envy Sesshomaru but sold him >.< Towa is a minifee Sirrca and Setsuna is a Minifee Rens, I had Tonocha paint them with their demon cheek marks and the Sesshomaru moon on the forehead and they turned out SO PRETTY. I don't have any recent pictures of them but there are some older ones on my IG :)

    40. They look amazing!

I have two character dolls in progress, Alphinaud from FFXIV, and Kazuma Kiryu from Yakuza/Like a Dragon. :)

    41. I answered yes as I sort of do. I have a pukifee that is loosely based on one of my FFXIV characters, a Lalafell. I did have a Tiny Delf based on my husband’s Lalafell character but I’ve since scrapped that as it didn’t turn out as cute as it should. Years ago I had a Pukifee Ante I based on my Tarutaru char when I played FFXI. Hmmmm there seems to be a pattern here……
I’m kind of considering having a doll based on my Viera character in (yup you guessed it) FFXIV but am very undecided on sculpt.

    42. Thank you @Sanar ! They still have a ways to go, but the process is fun. I finally got the semi-realistic Inuyasha partially together for a photo with Koga. These two.

      I
would love to see some Final Fantasy characters! The games always had such great character designs, and I think the style lends itself well to doll customs.
@Blodeuwedd one of the hardest parts is finding the right sculpt sometimes. I hope you find one that works for your Viera!

      • x 18
    43. I'm loving both versions of Inuyasha you have! That realistic sculpt suits him. Nice balance of 'good doggie' and 'doesn't give a rat's rear end' kind of look :XD: And koga's clothing is just so floofy and soft!

    44. I have a doll based on Claudia from Interview with the Vampire. She's not done yet or else I'd take some pictures.

    45. I have four character dolls! Two are officially licensed versions of Hua Cheng and Xie Lian by Ringdoll...

And the other two were customized by me to be Giyuu and Zenitsu from Demon Slayer!

    46. They're so pretty! I really like how you've organized your displays! So many neat and cute stuffs :chibi I hope to have something similar one day!

    47. Thank you! I have quite a bit of other Demon Slayer stuff, but I don't have room for the BJDs in that section since they're big ol 1/3 scales. I'll be moving out for college soon and I'll be able to put Zenitsu and Giyuu with their 1/8 and 1/7 scale anime figure brethren soon.

      • x 1
    48. Ooh exciting!

I can definitely understand the space issues. It's one of the main reasons I've chosen to focus on customizing fashion size 1/4 dolls since entering the hobby. Like 1/3, but mini :XD:

      • x 1
    49. I'm waiting on my first doll and I'm planning on turning him into Aizawa Shouta from My Hero Academia and in the future I'm planning to turn a doll into my FFXIV player character, a dark grey/blue-ish skinned Au'Ra lady. Making her will be quite a challenge, Aizawa will be rather easy, thankfully!

      • x 2
    50. Congrats on your first doll! I hope he arrives soon :)

Ooh, an Au'Ra does sound challenging but fun to make! I have a few player characters I think about making in doll form someday. One of them is a blue-green skinned planty boy :XD: I don't think I could find a proper doll shell for him without heavy modifications.

      • x 1
    51. I'm really interested in having dolls based on fictional characters who are already dolls!

Some of my favorites include: "Plain Doll" from Bloodborne, "Parrah and Noya" from SiNoAlice, "Cornelia" from Shadow Hearts: Covenant, and "Mary" from Spirit Hunter.

Parrah and Noya, (who are in my avatar) in particular have a cute/creepy aesthetic I really like and have really interesting personalities and I would love to one day have dolls styled after them!

      • x 2
    52. I technically have three, but they're variations of Fairy Tale characters. I've got Belle from Beauty and the Beast (I call her Belle Estel) and I've got Little Red Riding Hood (Rose Red) and the Wolf (currently named Velanna, but that could change). I'd love to make MSD versions of Anna and Elsa from Frozen using their outfits from Frozen II but that's a future project.

    53. I would like to have a doll of Garcello from the Friday Night Funkin' mod Smoke 'Em Out Struggle. I love him so much.

    54. I used to think "I would love a doll of _____!" to a few characters. Over the last year or two, I don't feel interested at all anymore. It feels too limiting to go off someone else's IP. It's more fun to have full creative control.

      • x 2
    55. I'm currently in the process of trying to find sculpts that would fit two OCs of mine - though this has been quite the struggle! Honestly considering commissioning a 3D-printed BJD at this point

      • x 1
    56. Nearly half of my dolls are based on pre-existing characters. I have two Zeldas and two Links, from Twilight Princess and Tears of the Kingdom/Breath of the Wild. I also used to have Sebastian from Stardew Valley but have since sold him.

    57. Oh, this urge is so strong in me.

I am currently saving to hopefully be able to get the BJD that fits a character who has meant a lot to me, and the only reason I am not naming names is that I am trying not to get too hopeful at this moment. Just keeping myself chill.

Apart from that one? Well, I've always wanted to make a BJD of Elphaba, which I suspect is not an uncommon thought. Susan Sto Helit from the Discworld books would also be a close second for me to have a BJD. I suspect she may become a saving goal.

      • x 1
    58. My husband and I are big "Adventure Time" fans, and when we recently re-watched it, he said, "Bonnibel would make a good doll name". ("Bonnibel" is Princess Bubblegum's name.) I was then waiting on my Supia Hamin to arrive, and I thought, hmmmm, yes, that'd be a good name. When she arrived this past Monday, I dressed her in a pink Dollheart Fer, a pink wig and a tiara, and now we both refer to her as Princess Bubblegum. She seems to like it

    59. I'm working on making my Dollshe Rosen cosplay Crowley from Good Omens. Have the eyes, the boots are on the way. Now I just need to make the clothes and face him up to suit. May try ventilating a wig-it's the only thing I think will give the right look.

      • x 2
    60. I shell my own OCs and have no interest in creating a character doll. That said, two of my doll OCs are heavily inspired by preexisting media characters -- mostly in their appearance plus a bit of personality and character development. I can draw direct links between them and that preexisting media character. I guess they're more like tributes to those characters rather than actual character dolls.

One of them is the purple-haired girl in my avatar... her personality and appearance (and yes, the purple hair) is heavily based off Motoko Kusanagi from Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex, my favourite anime. I made her cosplay Motoko once, commissioned wig and all.

I'm still waiting for the other doll to come home, but he's directly inspired by the protagonist of my favourite SF/fantasy novels, The Book of the New Sun 4-volume series by Gene Wolfe. His appearance, clothing style and job/role in my doll story-world are pretty much lifted from that protagonist. I was so tempted to give him the same name, but that's a bit too on the nose for me  so I've given him a different name that's alike but not identical. And yes, I want to make him cosplay the actual character someday.

Update 05/2025: Well, the doll above is home now, and he insisted on being named Severian. Fine, be blatant about the character inspiration :doh At least it's his surname and I can call him by a different given name... then again, his sculpt has uncanny resemblance to Wolfe's descriptions of his novel's protagonist...
