ccbjd California BJD Con Saturday May 15th 2010 !

I just made a little mock-up of an SD-sized badge. I borrowed some of your images, Aichan... hope you don't mind. Laminated with tape on both sides, it could be hole-punched at the top with a string drawn through and can hang around a dolls neck. I also made one that says "Vendor". What do you think? (image res isn't so good here at only 100dpi... the printed image would be 300dpi).

 

Aw, that's way cuter than what I could put together! Though I'll probably still make some for fun. I just don't know how many...

I could print up, like, a ton of these. I have a scrapbooking cutter, so they'd cut out pretty fast. I'll hve to see how many I can get to a sheet... at least 50. Jump ring through the hole, length of heavy string, and PRESTO!

 

Ah.. sadly. Looks like i won't be able to do the whole postcard thing on time to give away. Sorry Ai-chan.

On other notes:
My booth will be giving away free bookmarks~ and other random goodies ^^ So while supplies last. Do stop by and pick them up~
I will make some goodies for the dolls too~ I mean. This whole con is about them right?? Make the little guys happy~
and Finally, i will also have Gifts with Purchase as well~

 

I have CCBJDC badges for my SD kids! Yay! I can print 80 to a page, double-sided. With Aichan's permission of course, I can bring some. Here's som pictures of Rylin with his... sorry for the crappy lighting; it's 11:00pm here and kinda dark, so....



The badge measures 1.17" x 0.8". Why these odd dimensions you may ask? I dunno. Closest to scale size without loosing the ability to see that adorable logo or read the lettering.

I LOVE them!! Now ALL my kids want to go so they can have a badge! That's 70+ dolls by the way.... I have a laminator that will do full sheet size lamination 8.5 x 11 if you would like me to bring it to the Convention. I will be getting there early on Saturday Morning and we could have a laminating party.

Let me know. It's no trouble to bring it and a few sheets of lamination stuff, OR.... send me the images and I can print out the sheets and laminate them and bring them for you to cut?? Email me if you want help, and let me know! nytshaed at g mail dom com.

A friend of mine has a laminating machine, too, but I was just going to "laminate" them with packing tape...an amazingly cheap and simple sealant with many many uses! And I have to punch out the holes, crimp the rings, and attatch the cord (I decided on black elastic cord so that it should fit over most head sizes without being too long), and I don't kow how long that would take if doing it at the con. I'm going to try and make up one sheet-worth (about 80) tonight and see how long it takes and I'll let you know! Maybe I'll enlist your assistance!

I've gotta drive about 4 hours to get there, so I definitely won't be arriving early... I'm not exactly a morning person. I plan on getting there at about 12:00 so we can get something for lunch before the con starts. My mother is coming with me; she's always been a doll collector and is interested in my BJDs, and this time she's prepared. (She's an old-fashioned 60 years old and the last time she tagged along to a BJD con she got a little freaked out by the gothic and especially the lolita costumes people were wearing and thought BJD collectors all dress like that ALL THE TIME.) She's not a morning person, either, now that she's retired.

 

Bring her by the Lastochka table! I'm going to be 56, and I won't be wearing a Lolita outfit, lol!

 

The little badges are so cute! Are you making Vendor ones too? I'm sure my dolly would love that. ;-}

I'm going to be vending clothing for mini-fees. I'm not really sure who else it would fit, so if you bring a slim MSD or a sewing dummy for a slim MSD I would love to play dress up with them. I will post my website, and photos of my products as soon as they are both ready, witch should be soon. hopefully. >.<

Oh, and I told some random middle aged man about the convention today at office max...I was getting business cards printed and he asked what they were for. Turns out he knows about abjds and has a wife with 500 barbies, so I told him about the con and that his wife should go. lol
So strange what random people you run into that know about this hobby!

 

I do have a Vendor one, yes. It looks the same as the Attendee, except that it says "Vendor" on it. I'll make up a bunch of those, too! If you want the vendor ones to be different, now's the time to say so!

And you're right! Someone asked me what sculpt my Obitsu Gretel was yesterday and said that she had a Dolfie Dream. I asked her if she was going to the con, and she said she hadn't heard about. So I told her when and where, and she said it sounded like fun and she'd see if she could get the day off.

Okay, so you saw the Attendee badge in post #181 (top of page). Here's a mock-up of a Vendor badge. Opinions? Or doe everyone preffer the Attendee colors with just the word Vendor on it?

Okay, so just imagine the Attendee badge with the blue outside colors in pink and the pink inside colors in blue, and it says "Vendor" at the bottom. I'll check photobucket again later and see if I can re-upload the image.

I think this is turning into a donation from Sudianna Designs. I do a lot of odd commissions for logos and business cards, so this little project was right up my alley. Once I get started on something I can't seem to control myself! I just love making stuff, and I've worked on volunteer organizations before so I know how hard it is do everything yourself, so here's my contribution and a thank you for putting on a con close enough for me to drive to!!

I've got about 150 "Attendee" badges cut and punched, 60 of those completely strung and finished and working on the others, and 80 "Vendor" badges cut out. It takes several hours, so I'll see about getting those finished and then maybe printing up 20 "Staff" badges or so. Is that enough? I didn't know how many people would want them or how many dolls they'd be bringing. I'll leave them with you at the information/sign-in table if it's convenient.

 

Here's a little preview of what will be happening at the Lastochka table. I finally got out of the sewing room and went to the beach this morning!


Skazka fairy tale outfits, (on the Soah), Gypsy clothes, a little bit of contemporary, and a few MSD outfits. I will be doing some special pricing and "gift with purchase" but haven't figured that all out yet! Please come by and say hello even if you don't buy anything!

 

Oh, I love the gypsy clothes! My boys would look fabulous in those! I hope you have some that will fit!

 

I'm so excited about this con! It may sound weird, but last night I dreamt that I was walking around the vendor's tables and my SSDF, Kir, was riding on my shoulder and he kept tugging on my hair when he wanted to look at something.

Can hardly wait to get there! Eeeeeeee! So awesome!

 

um... dunno but between 30-50 depending on the hours I'll be selling the pattern for this but I probally will be selling doll replicas of stuff I did for the fashion show at my school XD

I'm not sure which dolls to bring! I don't think I will bring a lot though. Maybe three or so.

I only have the one to bring right now, but hopefully some off topic dolls will come with me as well. hehe
I am willing to baby sit for anyone to busy to carry there dolls, and will use my black belt skills to defend against thieves!
I have a big display for my table so not sure how much room there will be, but still, the offer stands.

 

I'm not sure how many I'm bringing. I'm almost finished making a new carrier for my SSDF to ride in, but he's just to darn heavy! Plus my two Obitsus who will be trying on things, and I might be bringing my KDF just because he's the only MSD-sized doll I have and I might find something cute for him! I seriously need a stroller, but it would take up too much room. So my mother will be helping me juggle dolls, because she says that her purse weighs more than my 70cm resin boy with big feet.... And I believe her!

BTW: Finished about 140 attendee badges and 80 vendor badges. Hopefully I'll have a chance to do the staff badgs tomorrow if I don't have to work!

Whew! I'm a little bit sore and a lot exhausted (just had a post-con nap before coming on-line), but boy did I have fun!

It was so great seeing so many different dolls in person, and I have business cards from all the vendors that I now know I want to order from in the future (when I have more moneys for dollie things... *rubs hands together*), and every single person I talked to was so nice.

Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! Myself and all my boys, Orion, Moordai, Phlurp, Noshame, and of course NIKKI, all had a BLAST!! It was good seeing people I haven't seen in a while, and at such a wonderful event! I was finally able to get the DZ Christmas Babies I'd been hunting for for so long, AND it's a good thing I didn't buy any new dolls because when I woke up this morning I had the email telling me I have won the lottery for Kakeru from Volks!!

Super weekend all the way around. Our Hotel, the La Quinta was FABULOUS!! Quiet, inexpensive, ($60 for a double double) and FREE breakfast. Everything was just perfect. Thanks to Aichan all of her Convention staff and the staff of The Holiday Inn.

In a side note as we were leaving Sat night for our hotel, I was standing by the elevators and had a flashback from 1983. That was THE SAME hotel where a friend and I tagged along with Motley Crue during their stop in Fresno. It's funny that 27 years later, I was dragging around Nikki's doppelganger in the same hotel!!

 

Just rolled into home after six hours of driving and I'm too tired to say much now- but the Con was fantastic. I had such a great time and met so many wonderful people (and dolls!). Thank you everyone who came by my Lastochka booth to buy stuff or even to just chat. The people running the Con were sooooooooo nice, friendly, helpful, the luncheon food was surprising good (!!!)- they even made special food for those of us who are lactose intolerant and it was actually tasty! Everything was great- Cymorill's little nametags for the dolls were so adorable.
The only complaint I have about it was the elevators-lol!

 

My hubby and I had a great time, and spent way too much!

Thank you to the staff for making such a comfortable place for us to play for the day!
