Modification Bust mod (step by step) for Mal

Hey guys! after Acyra, I realized that I've sculpted 2 sets of boobs, and never documented my (possibly bizarre) process! so today I'm doing a more in-depth process on my latest victim--a DC a-04 body. Now, the background on it is that it's perfect for Shrike-but-not. It stands around the same height as my ingenue body, when the next/ankle extenders are removed. Mal is basically Shrike on a darker timeline--she's shrike but kept in a dungeon for 5 years, so the lankiness of the body worked. I'll be modding on both raised and carved scars eventually, but for now, this is going to focus on my sculpting of a chest (and not my crotch mods, because that might be a tad more explicit, though it roughly entails de-stringing the DC strung penis, sanding down testes, and sculpting over that whole area while filling in the hole for the former anatomy) I like to go one step more realistic than the standard I see on most of my dolls, and while I have seen anatomy like mine (I think on amadiz and a couple others) I'm gonna play it safe here!

So this is Mal, kind of. Right now she has soom Cass hands that she won't be keeping, and no feet. That's right, just no feet. she currently has a spare pair of feeple60 ankles in, and just no feet on them? they're in the shoes. She's a twigling ingenue (I think form the weiju days? though she might be a caster before that? I can't remember. Not dollshe, because I have 2 of those, and she doesn't match at all.) She's not modded in this pic.

Also proof her head works on the dc neck! this was a "what the heck, I'll throw these together" hybrid, and she worked out shockingly well, which is what sparked me to do these mods. Which I'm going to post in the next post!

 

Explicit things ahead (I mean, this is just about sculpting boobs)

So Mal's chest I wanted to be smaller, to be consistent with the rest of her body. Acyra's bust is a lot more iplehouse EID styled, like medium to large, and from this I learned that it is way easier to sculpt large boobs, because you don't need to think as much about the musculature/bones under, less of it shows. this isn't my best work--again, cause I hadn't sculpted a smaller chest, but it's given me a lot of thought on what I'd want to do from here, but this is a look into how I do it!

First thing I do is roll out two logs, and just outline where I'm putting everything. Note: rests usually hang lower than the pecs, os on male bodies, I always make my outline lower--if you want to sculpt "pushup" breasts, like these, you probably wouldn't need to do that. This makes male bodies with under-pec joints not ideal for this kind of mod, because of possibility interference. Supia does something like that with their double body, and all it means is that the doll won't be able to lean forward very well, but can still lean back. Never done a mod on an under-pec joint, but I'd like to give the two styles a whirl sometime!

Next step is more logs. the goal here was to fill in where I needed more body, and not to worry about smoothness at all (yet). If I could do this over, I'd have had more of her sternum out, like the Iplehouse Hid Small bust or the Twigling A-bust, and space them a bit further apart, but hey, hindsight is 20/20. Basically, this is also the stage at which your parents wonder what you're trying to accomplish, when you have this and pretty reference pics. There's a method to the madness though, and that comes next.

See how much better it gets smoothed? the shape is still little lumpy though, which is when I start smoothing it with more milliput, and very wet fingers. water makes the milliput look a lot smoother, and you get less ridging and fingerprints to sand out later.

still a bit bumpy here, and I don't like the left side at all, but you'll see how I fix that in part 2, which I haven't photographed yet. On the right, you can see how I've smoothed it into the armpit/the upper chest above the breast itself, just to try to better blend it in. you get a whole lot less sanding that way, trying to make the edges of the mod harmonious.It's also a lot of my thumbs hurting from pressing very wet milliput very hard to force it to get thin and blend in. you can also see that I've followed the curvature of the ribs, and I just think that made them look more like they were originally supposed to be here. while it's imperfect, I'm really happy with how this worked.

This is a side view, and that's the part I'm proud of. I like the natural slope it has, where it doesn't really defy gravity--like the B-bust you see on the same twigling page I linked above--which I have in the house, and it informs a lot of my chest sculpting, I love that thing. Looks good dressed, looks good naked, looks good in general. Twigling sparks joy, so when I'm trying for a realistic chest, I use Twigling as my model like 80% of the time. Currently in the house, I have the A and B sizes, and a C on the way. you can also get a vibe for how little sanding my flattened milliput is, by looking at the seam on the top!

Final results on the whole torso! You can see how her silhouette isn't really any different. This body is long and lanky, and doesn't have the curves that even a lot of male bodies have, like the TGB idol I've linked. His waist/hips would make a mod like this so easy, if you can find a solution to the under-pec joint. This silhouettes is ideal for Mal. She reads a lot more masculine/androgynous. If I wanted to make it read more feminine, I'd have also done some work around her hips/waist to give her more of a curve at her waist (See: vidania's butt mods-starts at post 37). I'm just not going to, cause her silhouette is exactly right for the character. except for the big dent I accidentally made in her right breast, positioning her for this pic, and then had to fix. I'm also covering her crotch, like I say, because it straddles that line of being a little more explicit, but it was fun to sculpt, so I'm not complaining!
