Brava Bambi (Bambicrony) Discussion Part 1

And that is why I bought Marie's peach puff Ellen from the Marketplace and not Bambicrony. I do want to get a Bella Bambi, but after that I think I am finished. If I could possibly find one in the Marketplace I would buy from there. I don't blame you for never wanting to order again. That is simply unacceptable. Part of the allure of a Bambicrony is the faceup.

 

Yeah, I'm never ordering from Bambicrony again, unless I start hearing a string of really good things about them for a long time. Actually I still might not order, I'm not big on the engineering of the Brava Bambi body. I had the worst time just getting her to stand up today, I was so frustrated It's weird to me how there is nothing really there to keep the hip joint in place, it keeps popping forward or spinning around in the hip socket.

But I'm not sorry I bought this tan Ellen, she is just too pretty! Actually I'm writing a feature about her for Tomopop, I'll link to it when it's finished.

 

bronzephoenix, have you tried to hot glue the hip/leg joint?

 

I agree, bronzephoenix, if you look at the page before this one, there's a list of things I've done to my girl, it really makes a difference.

 

You guys are right, glue sueding in particular would help keep the hip joint in place, although I'm not sure what I can do for the knees. I've never seen a doll where the knee has to be popped forward to get the knee to bend. But if I can get the hip to stop rotating and popping out on me, I'll be happy. I had such a hard time posing her earlier! I was so confused the first time I noticed that one leg seemed longer than the other because of the slipping hip joint

 

Now see that is odd. Mine doesn't have any trouble standing. I noticed a couple of times the joint where the thigh goes into the main body turned around, but it doesn't happen often at all and it was just the one little joint. The legs are solid on my Ellen. I don't have to pop the knees at all. Mine is a really good poser, too. I can see how you would be so frustrated bronzephoenix!

 

This new news has reaaaaaaaaaally got me throwing Ellen into my shopping cart a lot lately... but I am also scared of the seams/posing/faceup flaking/ smeary resin color stories I am hearing..

With only 11 of her left I'm having a hard time deciding if I want to commit to her or not, or if she would just be a random purchase at this point.

I feel like getting an Ellen at this point would make her pretty special since there weren't many of her to begin with, she's so incredibly beautiful, and they are retiring the resin color. Hmmmm decisions, decisions.

 

Have you ever had a doll with locking knees before bronzephoenix? Most of my dolls with locking knees have to have their knee clicked out in order to bend. I don't pop mine right out, but I think I'm just used to the movement you have to do, as my first doll had locking knees, so I was used to it from the start.

I also find they slip if you haven't tightened their strings. They're sent loosely strung to avoid breakage, and I had to take out a good inch or so to tighten my girl. See if that and sueding helps with your posing issues.

 

Well bronzephoneix at least you know her knees won't buckle all the time (cough, Volks, Bluefairy, cough)
Glowbee, I am also really contemplating Ellen, I love the tan color, and my Toto is so perfect.

 

gracie, I'm glad you're getting yours to pose well for you! Mine definitely needs some work, but I guess that's part of the experience... Maybe this is the motivation I need to start taking apart and hot glue sueding all my girls. I've never done it before, and frankly there are a few of them that could really use some work!

kawaii_mon, this is totally my first doll with this knee mechanism, I am so puzzled I'm sure I'll get used to it For now I keep forgetting! I will definitely try everything you said, so thanks for the advice.

Stella Maris, you are so right, my Blue Fairy dolls do have collapsible legs! But I've gotten used to it, so I guess it's all a matter of time?

I guess I was a little predisposed to be critical of her, given the situation with ordering her. Also I rarely order from somewhere that isn't FairyLand or Blue Fairy. So I need to step back and remember that it takes lots of time to learn how to pose a doll from a new company... Every company is so unique!

Do any of you guys know of an easy way to get her head off? You need to behead her to get her into most of the outfits I ordered for her from Bambicrony.

 

I find S-hook BC is using in their BB doll is too small to easily get her head off (even smaller than my Bluefairy SF), so you may find a new bigger S-hook to be easily held.

PS. I restrung and did hot glue to my Ellen but those didn't help much. But I found wiring works

 

I hook a bit of ribbon under the s hook to lift it up, the head comes off quite easily and the s hook sits fine on the neck without falling through the hole or anything.

 

Jen, I think the reason mine might be easier to pose is that I asked Yoon before she shipped if Ellen could be sent more tight. I thought she ignored my question, but after reading what you've been going through, I think they did tighten her a bit. I got my Ellen down today and I see now what you mean with the locking knees. I hadn't noticed before, but mine don't seem as bad as yours.

I was also looking to get more nine9 clothes, too. I bought the same pink dress, lol. Do you mind posting which outfits require her head to come off? I'll avoid those. I can take heads off, but I tend to get careless and drop the stringing when I do it.

glowbee and Stella, I am a little biased, but I think Ellen is one of the prettiest dolls out there. I haven't gotten my peach puff Ellen yet, but from the pictures she is just as gorgeous as my tan. Even with the problems, I think if you really wanted her, I would get her now. Since they made the announcement, people are going to rush to get the tan dolls because they think Bambicrony will never make any other tan dolls which isn't true. Since there are so few Ellens left (showed there were 14 Ellens and 7 Emilys), they might go quickly. Just be aware that there can be problems and you should be fine.

Katrin, all I did was to keep adding one to my cart and updating until it told me there wasn't enough in the inventory to buy that many. Yoon said they wouldn't stop making tan dolls until 1 /20 and then it was only until they got a new factory. Didn't they stop production of the tan dolls a year or two ago and brought them back again?

 

I have a little question for BB owners: do your girls have boyfriends? I think of my girl as being grown but very young (maybe around 18) and would love to see your girls with guys or get suggestions of guys that look good with them. I just can't resist pairing them up, but am not very familiar with small mature-looking guys.

 

Mine don't have boyfriends. But you need to keep in mind that BB girls are noticeably taller than many others MSD size dolls.

I didn't realize BB's were taller. Thanks a bunch! I'm sort of thinking about one of the Souldoll Vito-sized guys. I think they're about 50cm. I maybe can justifying buying one if he would look good with Minnie. I originally bought my BB thinking she would be a little sister for my Secretdoll Yomo, but I think Minnie (BB Isabelle) looks older because of her strange little face (little face, big domed head). Doll proportions make me crazy. I never know until I see them in person how they will be with my other dolls.

I was able to get these outfits on with no problem: grey dress and pink dress. The grey one takes some careful tugging, but it's doable.

I was not able to get these on without taking her head off: chiffon dress, jade dress, and balloon dress. My minifee have been rocking these outfits, since I can get their heads off easily!

linn, Soulkids would work fine and any of the MSD boys from DIM doll would. Ellen is shorter than both my Soulkid Apple and my DIM Elena. She is almost 3/4 of an inch shorter that my Elena. I was looking at getting Maillo from Souldoll. I'm thinking Vito might be a little too tall and too mature looking for your Isabelle. I know what you mean. All my SDs are paired up. I've been checking out mature-looking MSDs for my girls for a bit to get just the right one.

Well that stinks! I had the chiffon dress and the balloon dress on my list as well. Sounds like we fell for the same pictures of Ellen bronzephoenix, lol.

 

He might be at that, but I'm hoping she might go for an older man because I really like him. *sigh* The never-ending quest for the perfect dolls.

 

Iplehouse boys are 46cm, according to the site, and I find they look about 18 or so. They have very mature bodies and baby faces. I love Jerome, but I think their bodies are too mature for my taste. My minis are supposed to be young kids.

Is tan Emily unpopular? I never see her around!

 

I am doing the same thing. I really want an Ozzy's Pepe and a tan Ellen but I am unsure with how to proceed. I really want them but am concerned.

 

I don't think she is unpopular. I have one as well actually. There are quite a few pictures of her on flickr, but she was the first of the Brava Bambi's to be released and so you probably see less of her than the other tan girls.

 

I don't know if they're unpopular, but I have found that gallery threads I and other people have posted here haven't really got that much attention. Maybe they get lost in the sea of threads before you even get them.

 

I have one, and another one on layaway.
Whom I'm really hoping will turn out all right, considering the recent tan problems... x.x

I ordered a tan Emily in late November, without a faceup or any extras. I'm starting to worry about the discontinued tan update. Does that mean, if they haven't made her yet, I'll be waiting for the new factory? Am I looking at a very long wait ahead of me? D:

Everyone has some awesome girls! I was totally heartbroken when Tan Ellen sold out and I hadn't ordered. I only have FL dolls that I order through DDE, so I was hesitant to order straight from a company I didn't know much about. Wish I had come here to read more :-(

Anway,, tan Emily is adorable, also. As is peach puff and floral white Ellen.

Does anyone have any spam for me of any of those ? Almost every day I feel blue about missing tan Ellen. I hate dolly regrets!

 

Mesadollz, I have a peach puff Ellen and a tan Ellen. Both are beautiful in their own ways. They really do not look alike. I haven't gotten a chance to take any pictures really since I got them both right before Christmas. I'll try to take some tomorrow or maybe this week for you. I love my tan Ellen, but my peach puff Ellen is just as beautiful. I think you would love her, too.

 

I was finally able to take a few quick photos of my girls today. I apologize for any flyaways or poor quality. For anyone debating between a tan Ellen and a peach puff Ellen, I would say go for the peach puff. My tan Ellen has been a shelf sitter pretty much since she arrived. Just too busy to play with her. When I took her down from her shelf today I noticed she now has white spots in the areas around her joints. They look like pin pricks. Also, when I got her in December, she had one area around one of her ears that was white, but it was really unnoticeable. Now both ears have that same white area and it is noticeable in person. I couldn't get the camera to take a picture, but it is there. I love my tan Ellen, but I am thinking she is going to be a shelf sitter. I don't want to handle her anymore and risk her mottling.

Mesadollz, here is a quick picture of my peach puff Ellen. I put her in a wig similiar to the one my tan Ellen is wearing above.

 

Since we are only allowed one photo per doll I think, this might be wrong to do, but I didn't have enough pictures to start a thread in the Gallery. If it is a problem, moderators, please let me know and how to do it differently.

Mesadollz, here is a picture of the tan Ellen with the peach puff Ellen. Looking at the photos, they do look pretty much alike. However, sitting next to each other on the shelf, they look similiar, like cousins would be, but still different enough they don't look like the same doll or sisters.

 

Finally, for those who were debating between the flat chested girls and the larger breasted, here is a larger picture of how they compare. My tan Ellen (left) is the larger breasted girl and her default outfit will not close all the way around her chest, poor girl. She does fit in the larger balloon dress you see her in, but as you can see she fills that sucker out.

My peach puff is the flat chested girl (right) and that is why she is wearing the default outfit. Both are pretty, but personally, I think I prefer the flat chested girl. She just seems to look better in those adorable Nine style dresses. Oh, and as bronzephoenix pointed out before, that yellow balloon dress will only go on Ellen if you take her head off. Not a big deal, but thought I would mention it.

Thank you so very much for the amazing photo's! I didn't have this thread marked and lost it, so I apologize for the lack of response. The peach puff is really beautiful.

I know there is some issues with the tan resin. Any idea what has caused it? I read briefly about the floral white and something about french resin. Personally, i love white resins, and they warm up nicely I have heard. Almost turning into a "natural skin" resin at some point, correct?

I've got so much to learn. Love the forums here but searching for info is a tad tricky. Sorry my questions are redundant!

p.s I wanted to add that I have searched so many lines of MSD dolls for a couple months and nothing grabs me like Bambicrony sculpts do! How weird is that? lol

 

I understand Robin You should be commended, though, for wanting to research before buying. Everyone has to start somewhere and we all still have a lot to learn about the different dolls, etc.

I fell in love with Bambis over two years ago, but finally took the plunge with them in September. The sculpts are very distinct and adorable. Who could blame you for liking them, lol? It appears that pretty much everyone who got a tan Ellen had problems. From what I have seen, mine is probably one of the best, but even she isn't perfect. This is not normal for a tan doll. If you look at the Bambicrony thread in the Waiting Room, you'll see some more pictures of other tan Ellens and the problems people have had. After numerous complaints, Yoon said they will be stopping the production of the tan dolls until they get a new factory. Whether it was the factory or not I don't know. My tan Mae is perfect and she was made at the same time at the same factory.

I have a few white resin dolls, but I don't think they have turned yet although one is 3 years old. Maybe they have and I just haven't noticed it, though. If they have turned, they are still a beautiful porcelain color. I think Anita has had quite a few Bambicronies, a few in floral white, and they were all beautiful. There is also a Bambicrony thread in the BJD Database that has some gorgeous pictures. Hope that helps

Edit: I had a thought; has anyone ever asked BC about making high-heel feet for them? I also wish we could buy the large bust torso separately if we wanted to upgrade any of our girls.

 

How does Nine9Style relate to Bambicrony? Why would they have dolls that aren't on the BC site?

 

Well Nine9style has been using Brava Bambi's of late for modelling, maybe they've worked out a deal to do some Brava Bambi's exclusive to them?

 

I think a lot of the clothing sold on Bambicrony's website is also made by Nine9Style. It's safe to say the two companies have some sort of partnership.
