Bobobie/Resinsoul 14cm and 15cm size dolls discussion part 2

Jul 14, 2012

    1. They should fit into Pukifee clothes, but the hand system is different (Pukifees use magnets) so you'd have to attach the magnet part to the body and wouldn't be able to switch between those and the default BBB/RS hands as easily. But it should be doable if you plan on leaving the magnet on there and just using the Pukifee hands.

    2. Im sorry.. i was just so darn impatient when i got him... ;__;
And it was from DDE, not from BBB so it wasnt all that exciting anyways like a normal one ^ ^"

      IM SO SORRYYY ;3;

    3. Hmm 10mm, thats what i thought!
He ended up coming with brown eyes. But that's ok, i'll find someone to make the demon eyes for me- im looking for specific ones with a red base and yellow eye with a cat pupil :P But i have no idea where to find that >3>

    4. You could probably try to make your own eyes. I've done something before where I basically rolled up some clay into a ball about the same in diameter to the eye I want, cut it in half to make two hemispheres, let the clay harden, and then painted it however I wanted it. Then you can gloss it or put a glaze over the top (I have this stuff called Diamond glaze that doesn't dry 100% flat, so it's nice for making eyes) and just let it dry.

    5. Aronzo Thanks for the info!! I think I'll just use hands with string system instead of magnets.

    6. look at Denver Doll under the glib eyes. I've got 8mm in Hotaru. (next size down from whatever comes default) in Poppy.

    7. Go to Dreaming Tree Studio for awesome eyes at insanely affordable prices. Amanda is a wonderful person to work with and she casts all the eyes herself (they're resin). She also has an Etsy shop with eyes ready to be shipped out immediately, but selection is not as expansive as if you were to order a pair to be made.

Quite a few of my dolls have DT eyes because they needed custom jobs due to style/size/colour. I had her make me a pair of 8mm cat eyes in pale green with a semi-metallic finish for one doll, some 10mm eyes with black sclera, 6mm eyes in a silvery white with no pupils and a metallic finish, custom colour eyes for 3 other dolls.... yeah, the list sort of goes on and on. A regular pair of 10mm eyes will run you $4.50 and shipping to the US/Canada is $2 for up to 6 pairs of eyes. Eyes with metallic finishes cost more, but still very reasonable at $10 for full metallics.

I'd post pics of some of them that I have, but I haven't purchased this size of RS (yet) and don't want to violate any rules about OT dolls for this thread. If you want to see some examples, please feel free to PM me and I'll link you to pics.

    8. Little information for my resinsoul Yu. Hope this information will help something..

Wig: I have monique wig on 4. It's fit very well. For wig can't share with normal pukifee (for multihed pukifee is use same wig with Yu)
Outfit: Yu can share some of pukifee with loose style coz pukifee have big body more than Yu. Monster high and Bratz outfit some fit also as t-shirt or skirt.
Shoe: My Yu use Gib shoes and blythe shoes can fit too. For pukifee original shoe is little bit loose but if you ware sock will is fit well.

I've been knitting while watching anime...
just a bit of yarn left over from another project and the color shift worked out beautifully.

    10. Happy Valentine's Day everyone! Have some Colette love!

    11. My little elfkin was adopted from the marketplace and has had a complete makeover since he arrived. I absolutely LOVE him!! His name is Tumnus, and he is my first ever try at a faceup. Now I really want him to have a sister. This is him before I coloured his daisy dayes legs:

I had no idea these guys were so adorable in person!!! I definitely need more!

A pic of him with his deer legs is here:
      http://www.flickr.com/photos/amysjewellery/8491810408/in/photostream/

I wasn't 100% happy - I couldn't get the white pastels to show up white, and then his deer legs were stained fluro green so they had to be coloured a lot darker than I planned and don't match his head as well as I'd hoped. Plus I had some issues with the MSC right at the end after about 10 layers of pastel and MSC to build up colour. I have pneumonia so I don't have a steady hand to try eyeliner.... but I plan to eventually.

    12. Hotaru has a crush on him! made me take a photo of her to send him...

    13. I have been thinking of getting a Yu for a bit now and this thread has almost completely pushed me to do so. I just have a few questions. The main one is which company would it be best to order from? Denver Dolls, Resinsoul, Junkyspot, or Bobobie? They all have the doll I want in the color I want I'm just not sure if there is an advantage to ordering from one place over another. I had questions about eyes, clothes, wigs, and shoes but they've already been covered. I do have a question about how well they pose. I've read on other threads that the BBB and RS dolls are loose and I was wondering if that was true for the tinies as well. I've only got one doll and I've never restrung him so I'm nervous about doing so. Thanks to anyone who can help

    14. My Yu was actually sent strung tightly (she's still doing karate kicks until her s-hooks come in) but I think either buying one that's in stock (if you buy from Resinsoul or Bobobie it'll be a pre-order) or from Resinsoul if you want a little bag to carry your doll in. Each place throws in a couple extras as far as I've heard, and my girl came with two free sets of eyes. My brother ordered a doll from Bobobie and they even sent him a free wig! If the doll is in stock, it won't take long at all to ship to you, and pre-orders from RS/BBB generally take a month or so to arrive.
Also, restringing actually isn't so hard at all! It's probaby better to practice on a slightly larger doll (Yo-SD or MSD) to get the hang of it, but it's not actually that complicated at all. There was a really good tutorial on DeviantArt that explained it really well. Lemme go find it.

EDIT: Found it! Though instead of using forceps like the tut, I usually loop the elastic around something that's close to the right size.

trying on a wig we made for a friend...

    16. Is he a pink skin? And came with the hoof legs already modded to fit him? From LittleNerdyOtaku? Please say he is! Because my gosh it will be good to see him around again! I really rather miss having him here.

    17. Hahaha - yes. He came with his legs and he is pink skin. Did he once belong to you? I didn't know they had been modded to fit a BBB - I can imagine THAT would have been a lot of work!!

    18. Yes! He was mine a while ago. I decided that he didn't quite fit what I want to do with my 'dollhouse' sized dolls, so he moved on. I'm thinking I'll eventually replace him with an Elfkin in red. And either find hooves for him, or make some.

This is how the hooves looked before I modded them: [IMG] (and how he looked as my little demon boy!) and here's how they looked after I modded them, before I moved him on to his next home: http://i124.photobucket.com/albums/...e/hooves/modded/Nightshademoddedhooves004.jpg (linked so as not to go over the 1 picture limit in discussion)

The modding took some time, but was entirely additive. It was work, but a LOT of fun! I really like modding.

And now...WOW! I just LOVE what he's become in your hands! Tumnus is just ADORABLE! Definitely where he was meant to go! I'll love seeing him anytime you spam him in here. ^-^

    19. Thanks for all the info and the link. I think I'll probably order from Resinsoul to get the little carry bag for her. I can wait a little longer for the perk of being able to take her places :)

    20. WOW - I have about a hundred questions!! I had no idea they were so narrow originally! The mod is fantastically done!! Congratulations!! Were they originally pukipuki ones then? Or are the pukifee size just always that narrow? I suppose finding another pair for a sister has just become a WHOLE lot harder!! Ack! I haven't had a doll with animal parts and while I love his head I find I struggle a little with the hooves. I wonder if it is just because finding clothes is so hard..... it didn't help that mum dropped over, took one look and told me he was revolting!!!! :( Ah well. Can't please them all.

Your original faceup and markings for him were so well done!! Very striking! And oh so different to how he is now!!

We've been hanging out a little today and finally found a pair of pants stretchy enough to get over those hooves and cover up his boy bits :) He is meant to be such a shy, sweet, gentle boy but in bright red pants and the only other 'boy' top I had he doesn't quite look it!! I keep wondering whether to change the faceup, redo it, darken it, redo the hooves.... but I think once he has a wig it will become a lot clearer who he needs to be. AND it will make his faceup look a bit darker too I think. So I am leaving it for now.

I think once he has some greeny brown clothes he'll look a bit less out of place than he does here:

    21. His hooves are PukiPuki hooves. The Pukifee hooves are the right size for my 1/6 March girl to wear! I actually bought them for him first, but each hoof was the size of his head, and I just could NOT mod the knee joint small enough to fit. The PukiPuki hooves are the right size for the RS and BBB 15cm tinies, once you thicken the top knee joint to fit properly. To DO the mods, I put a layer of plastic wrap in his knee, with a small hole for his elastics. I strung the hooves on to his legs, mixed up the epoxy putty I used (Amazing Sculpt in white, specifically). I pulled the knee apart so I could apply the putty, and then let the pieces pull back together so that the putty IN the knee would fit the socket properly, then smoothed everything out into shape, and let the putty cure. This was still a little rough, and left fingerprints in the mods (just the nature of the putty) but once things were fully cured I used fine grit sandpaper, then a nail buffer, to refine and smooth everything out. Really, for all that it takes a little time and work, it was one of the easiest mods I've done so far!

And thank you for he compliments on what I had him looking like! His markings then were made with red temporary tattoos. I took a bunch of tribal ones, and cut them apart, then re-arranged them to get the look I wanted from them and applied them to him. But in the end, the pink resin was just too 'soft' a base. I considered dying him. Either a red, or black, and re-doing him, but decided I'd be better off moving him on, then buying another doll in the red resin...or the new dark grey. Most likely the red.

For Tumnus, it wouldn't he too hard to darken his face a little more, I don't think. But you're right, wait until you have a wig for him! A wig can change everything about how a face-up looks! And, for pants, have you thought about trying to make him some 'wrap pants'? They're really fun and easy to make, and would work beautifully around his hooves! This is one of the tutorials I refer to when I can't quite remember how to make them (hey, I don't always wait until I'm fully awake to sew!) http://laupre.wordpress.com/2008/06/29/easy-breezy-wrap-pants-tutorial/ It's a 'for humans' tutorial, but since the pants are made entirely off measurements, and are so simple, it's easy to adapt it to even tiny dollies!

And I totally stand by how much I love Tumnus! You've made him absolutely adorable! My husband agrees. And so do several of my local collectors. *totally had to show them just how cute 'her' little Elfkin has become with you as his owner, so linked to your photos of him to them*

    22. Well after lurking around here for a while, I finally ordered a little one. I kind of wanted a little green skin elfkin to be a little goblin. But someone posted 2 elfkins for sale and I snapped up the normal skin female one. I haven't decided exactly what to do with her. I'm considering giving her a full blush of a greenish brown to be a little goblin. Or I considered calling her a young elf or just a gnome. Either way she's going to be Danifae's slave...er I mean companion. Still haven't thought of a name for her. Kind of depends on what race I go with. If she's a goblin I was thinking maybe Gobby, kind of a mix of Gabby and Goblin but we'll see lol. She ships out monday so that means she'll be here sometime next week. I'm pretty stoked. I've got 2 other dolls on layaway so this little one will hold me over til they get here.

Edit: Oh and if you're still looking for a little red elfkin boy, the other elfkin the lady was selling was just that. 65+shipping, is cheaper than you can buy him from DDE/JS/BBB

    23. It's amazing seeing how Tumnus has changed, he looks so awesome as a little demon, and his faceup now is just beautiful :D

Hotaru and I went visiting today, she also helped me knit a sweater and work out a pattern for some Elfkin size shorts.
Though now that someone mentioned Wrap pants, I love me some "Thai fisherman pants" all summer long... and wonder why I've never made something
like them in dolly sizes! I guess that'll be a project for tomorrow.

    25. Can anyone tell me the type of head cap that comes on a RS Yu? Is it magnet or something else? Thanks.

    26. [IMG]

Hotaru rocking green and blue! she helped make the sweater and the shorts yesterday.
(drafted the pattern for the shorts, and this first really successful pair are version 3)

Nice thing about working in this size is how little material is needed... the yarn is left over from a bigger project.
and the pants a scrap of dollar store tea towel from my "muslins" bin. (for testing patterns, and I like using tea towels because
the ones from the dollar store are cheap enough, but also nice colors, so if the test turns out well, it's a finished item: Yay!)
Today there's a tan pair of shorts about 2/3 finished that will be finished today. We're having fun watching recorded TV (_Lost Girl_, and _The Walking Dead_ and eagerly awaiting more _Dr Who_)
and Netflicks (_Queen Seondeuk_) while working on Hotaru size projects.

    27. Hello, everyone!
I've been absent from this site for a while and I've decided to come back.
Right now I'm trying to re-introduce myself on all the old threads I used to reply to every now and then.

I'm going to take pictures of Adaleize later, so I'll post some for you guys then.

I think I want another of these cute, tiny dolls, but I haven't quite made my mind up yet.

    28. I was scouting clothes for my incoming elfkin girl and came across these little outfits for dolls called cutie pops. Anyone tried these?

    29. I just got a little girl elfkin, but I am having trouble removing the head- Do I need to take out the s-hook to do so?

    30. Yes, BBB/RS tinies have circular holes instead of slits like most general BJD's. So to take their heads off, you generally have to remove the s-hook. I've taken an x-acto knife and cut Kiwi's head so that the s-hook would fit through. If you do this, you'll need to make a rest for the s-hook inside the head with epoxy. It's actually not very difficult to do at all.

    31. I was going to wait a bit longer before re asking my question, but I just ordered my Resinsoul Yu so I'm even more curious now. What type of headcaps come on these dolls? Magnetic or just a resin loop. Also if anyone could point out a good information thread on giving this little doll hooves I'd appreciate it. I'd need to know where the best place to buy them would be for a close fit and instructions on how to modify them if needed. All help is appreciated :)

    32. Yu's headcap is magnetic, but my Elfkin's head didn't have a magnet or a loop--the headcap just kind of slips on (and off. all the time)

    33. Aronzo: Thank you. I'm glad I won't have to fight with the head cap. Sorry about your Elfkin's head. I hope you find a good fix.

    34. unless there's some small version of the cutie pops, I think their standard size is going to be too big for the Elfkins... they might fit someone Yo-size?

    35. I'll probably just sculpt a little magnet holder on both pieces of her head and then glue in the magnets (or something like that) I like doing that sort of thing with my dolls so even if it doesn't work out, it'll be a fun experiment.

    36. Aronzo: I've only got one doll so far and I've never really done anything close to modding with him. I'm too scared to do so really. Your solution sounds good though and I hope it works out.

    37. trinlayk, I love Hotaru's outfits, they are so adorable! :)

    38. I believe I saw a post somewhere that Lati Yellow shoes will work for a RS Yu with socks, but I just want to double check if this is correct before I purchase a pair of shoes and they're too big. I'm also curious about Lati Yellow wigs. Are they way too big for Yu; I've found one I really like, but it is for a Lati Yellow.

    39. thank you! she's got good taste! (and access to everything that fits the Pukifee as well)

    40. Well I didn't see the response so i took a risk on the cutie pops clothes. The shirt is just about perfect. The pants are way too long but I might hem them. The butt isn't quite big enough but I might add some velcro to it to make it close.

And I guess it's worth it to mention that my little elfkin girl is here. I blushed her from head to toe in a mottled green color and restrung her with thicker elastic. I wasn't quite pleased with the name Gobby/Gobbie. Didn't sound feminine enough. I've decided tentatively to call her Trixie or Tricksie. I'll try and put up some pictures once I get her a wig and something to wear besides this sad little pink sock lol. She's just so adorable. And sooo small lol.

    41. Is there a wig size/company that is best for the elfkins? I am having a hard time finding one for Harper.

    42. you want a 4 in wig... I've got one "shaggies" from Denver doll, and it's too big and doesn't fit well. starting to get the hang of making my own.

If you are crafty, there's a decent pattern from Raw Kiss on Etsy for wigs made from faux fur.

    43. Hi everybody!!!
I need a little help with shoes that fit bobobie tiny. I have a BBB Erin and I have been looking for shoes for her, but not with much luck. What I have found are way too small or big? Where do you buy shoes for them? I am looking for a Mary Janes type shoes. Thanks!

    44. Unfortunately, most of what you'll find as far as Mary Janes will be Lati Yellow size. They'll only fit with socks and can look really big on your doll's feet. Otherwise, I don't know where else to look other than possibly Kelly shoes.

    45. Ume (Pukifee) and Hotaru are discussing the new Sitter:
(these are both wigs from the Raw Kiss pattern, and wearing homemade knitwear)

    46. I thought that BBB and RS tinies would be the wrong scale to fit in with my other tinies, but Dian and Yu are smaller so they might. I also think like their elfiish ears and faces and smoother body lines. Could anyone do a comparison pic of an RS tiny to a Puki Puki or Banji? Thanks?

    47. I have pukipuki! I'll try to get you a photo in the morning... my photo (above your post) shows a BBB Elfkin next to a Pukifee. I think the Pukipuki would come up to Hotaru's nose, or maybe up to chin level.

    48. Here is the promised comparison photo:
we have Ume the Pukifee (tallest) then Hotaru the Elfkin (Blue girl),
Augur the pukipuki Ante and Eclaire the pukipuki choco sugar.

    49. I want to bring your puki girls to live here!!!!! HOW GORGEOUS ARE THEY!?!?!?!? And you already know I adore Hotaru and Ume. Seriously though.... Augur has to be the cutest girl EVER!

    50. Does anyone know if the tinybear thistledown head/body would fit on a bobobie tiny head/body? Thanks so much!

    51. She's so gorgeous!!!. i love her wig!!!!! :fangirl: If you don't mind where did you get it. or did you make it!?. it's amazing

    52. I'm not sure who you are asking... but if you mean Hotaru (the blue Elfkin) it's a wig I made.

    53. Thanks for the great picture trilayk! I think they are the right scale

    54. OK I have an Elfkin on a kind of sort of layaway...(working on a trade and the gal offered the doll to me)....and have a newbie to tinys question..I have a little baggie full of shoes for Mattels Kelly doll....will these shoes fit the little one? Keeping my fingers crossed for a yes answer......LOL

      Thanks in advance
