Bobobie Mini Discussion Thread Part 3

I've considered Mai too... I don't know about his eye shape but he is a maybe too. I'm very indecisive like this!

 

XD Its not that bad. I'm choosing my order at random, started by ordering my DZ guy, and then acquired Liina on accident, but he was too tempting, and then Tremis who is on the way, and his wig will be here in like a week or two, and my other on-order guy who's wig is coming with Tremis'. My first guys with fur wigs. ^-^

I'm still looking for a longer white one though, the fur wig I bought is a little short, but it will do until I can find a longer fur somewhere.

Believe me you would know if i was yelling or had a problem. May i point out that there is another person on this thread who does not like Mei, but i know they don't like it because of the smile, fair enough it is not for them. And may i also point out that several times i have said, you should get whatever doll YOU want regardless of what people say or the numbers of them. I was merely curious to why you said people have put you off her is all!

To be honest i don't care if you like doll X or dislike doll Y for whatever reason! There are dolls i don't like because of the way they look! And to be honest, both me and snow was just saying what we think and i don't think any of us where where trying to come across as any sort of aggression. We we just discussing our opinions, which we have every right to do so, just like you have every right to say you don't like Mei.

I do think with any of these dolls they have an acquired taste because they are all stylized to a way, which is good about them. If you don't like a doll for taste reasons that is fine. Personally i like Mei and her cute smile. But i can see why you would want a doll for it. and the point which i am going to stress once more. At the end of the day you have to live the doll no one else, so it is best to get the doll you want.

On a side note if you like An and want a girl, personally i think An looks good on a female body and i can show you pictures if you like.

My Mei seemed to look sad when i first got her too, it is odd that, but once i had her for a bit she seemed much happier. I do think that dress is very cute though, it suits her well, where did you get it? With her i find if you play around with different angles and lighting you can get her to look different. She seems to smile more with a side on view for me.

It makes me giggle so much! I get the impression she hates doll meets! I have a couple where she looks like she is going to cry too! ^^

 

The odd thing is i did not see all the following pages of this until i posted which is annoying!

I think misunderstanding in general actually, I was mainly curious to why people "put you off" so i was wondering if you liked her at first and for some reason you changed your mind. Plus i think it is harder to get what people mean online.

It will cause some discoloration, but that is easily fixed. It'll only turn a bit lighter, and there's supposed to be a trick to fix this, but it's slipped my mind for the moment. Hope you find a doll that suits you

Ah yes, I agree with you completely missasher! I think the BBB and Resinsoul dolls in particular (and Chinese manufacutred dolls in general) make perfect blank canvases for personalization because they tend to have rather "neutral" expressions. It's one of the things that I love about them...each one can look completely different from the next because it all depends on the faceup, eyes and wigs that are used. It's a huge plus in my book!

I am soooo excited! I just finished ordering my first bjd: Bobobie's Mei Elf Girl. I cannot wait to get her! I also ordered a few GracieFairy patterns (from DDE) so that I can make clothes for her as I adore costuming dolls, and don't want her "nekkid" for too long. I really had hoped to keep her looking somewhat similar (at least until I get to know her) to the model pictured on the DDE site, so I got her a fwig, in champagne to start with, and I will branch out once I decide what sort of elf-girl she is going to be: more ethereal ala Lord of the Rings vs more modern ala Charles De Lint... Anyhow, I just wanted to share that I am finally getting my foot in the door and I cannot wait to meet my first BJD!

OMG. I just came across that seller Beachgirlnikita. Do you think that the boy clothes she sells on there might fit my boy?

 

I have no idea, i just have the two girls, and i have only bought the stockings from her, but she does do them for Unoa dolls and the slimmer dolls so there is a good chance.

Also, when sellers say "slim MSD unoa minifee" in the item title, does that mean that the item could fit BBB/RS?

 

roughly, there are some differences but you would have to ask other people who know more. I have notised the clothes for slim MSD do seem to fit well. The Ebay shop where i got the black shirt out fit RS very welll, i get most of my clothes from Mybayer. The BBB bodies are a little bigger then the RS so there are some differences in what clothes would fit. There is a really good thread a group of us started recommended for the various BBB/RS dolls.

You're welcome and that is a shame it is not as help for as you like. What do you think would make it better? And it is really no problem i love it when people show me where i can get new clothes from. Because i know it is is pretty hard. I have recently got a ringdoll outfit and i know someone else on here has too for there BBB/RS we don't know how well they fit yet. But we suspect they should fit fine. But most likely we will post pictures and tell everyone how well the fit.

I can tell you dollzone and Miniwoo are way too big for our dolls!

 

Yeah Karla, I'm the one still waiting on my Ringdoll outfit Hoping it'll get here soon.
Most Unoa and Minifee clothes fit when it comes to length, but the circumfence of the resinsoul girls' chest is way smaller, so the clothes are usually too wide there.
As for Dollzone, some clothes by them seem to fit the resinsouls pretty decently, but they will fit better on the bobobie body.

I see, i thought Dollzone was way too big, i know the shoes are. Cause i sae this cool loli goth kimono but i didn't get it because i thought ti would be too big. I knew someone else was too! I hope mine gets here soon too, because i was hoping to put it on my girl for the doll meet i am going to this weekend. But sadly i think it is not going to be the case.

I did look at the site today, just out of curiosity and since i was giving out links any way, and it says that order completion times are looking at 5-10 weeks so i think there might be a delay. I thought there was some thing about the chest for the Unoa clothes.

Most resinsoul dolls wear a 6/7 size wig, and some, like Lan, can wear a 5/6 size wig. Anything bigger and it will most likely slip off, even with a wigcap.
it seems the clothes from Sunny's are made for regular sized dolls, so they will definately not fit.

And Karla, Dollzone is too big in general for resinsoul, allthough I recall one set that fits... but I can't remember which one it was. Boots fit decently on them, and are only 3 mm too big. Bobobie however, is much closer to dollzone in sizing and the clothes fit way better on them, and so do the boots, because bobobie's feet are just slightly bigger than resinsoul's.
And strange ringdoll is havign a delay. I emailed them and they say the items I ordered were in stock, so I hope they get here soon.

Thats a shame i was eying up the Sunny's stuff! I see i got some sandals from Dollzone and they where nearly a cm too big! I know boots tend to be better because they come further up the dolls legs. Because i have notised most boots seem OK ish. I think since the RS tend to be a lot smaller in general then the Dollzones i think it is best i not take the risk in picking stuff up.

Smiles! . I'm clearly in the minority here, I want dolls to smile more! It's not that I don't think neutral expressions are pretty, and I can see their value if people do photoshoots, but I do really love very defined expressions on dolls - either looking very sad or very smiley. I love the instant personality that gives. Part of what draws me to BBB/RS is the faint smiles. I looked all over for a smiley doll to be my lolita girl, and it's going to be Tiah - Lostangel Wind and Facodoll XueShu came close, but they are just too big to be practical right now. I think if Pixie had human ears (would that make her Bobie?) I would have gone for her, I like her eye shape better, but seeing a box opening on the BBB forums and Tiah's dear little smile decided me.

So agreed on the photos. Someone brought a Pandora, default faceup, to Kitacon, and oh my, was she ever stunning. You wouldn't know it from the site pics! And purely from the site pics, I decided long ago I never, ever would have a Tiah or Pixie... *eats my words*

 

I think it is mixed some people like the smiles others do not. I don't think any one is a minority really.

 

It doesn't matter to me. As long as the doll is a pretty doll, it doesn't matter if it's smiling or not.

I was seeing people talking about the DZ clothes 'not fitting' the RS body, and I have an RS boy that wears the DZ shoes that came with my Mo-2 fullset and they fit him PERFECTLY. I shall try the pants and such on him tonight and see if the rest fits, but I wouldn't make that a concrete observation on the shoes, they fit fine. Liina wears them pretty frequently, and he stands like a champ in them, they're not big at all.

 

Def. a smirk. Mine seems very cocky, he fits well into the character he's supposed to be.

 

It might be very much the style of the shoe then.

Could very well be that it fits perfectly on the guys of course. They ARE quite a bit bigger than the girls after all.

Well. There was one person on here who said that ninestyle clothes fit her BBB girl. But I guess that doesn't cover all the rest of them.

 

I have found a couple of sites but most of them i have already said, i have seen someone with a RS Mei (I assume RS cause Mei often is) with clothes from ninestyle and they look really good on her doll.

 

Raesha~ ^_^ well thanks ^_^ Xuza's came out very well if I do say so, I'm very fond of the yarn I used on that one. It's such a nice gradual color change without changing too much depth of color. ^_^ I made a blond one recently.. but I'm not really sure on that one >.>

And certainly not the best picture either. But My friend who I made it for a friend (who is going to get her first doll via me ^_^ Just like I got my Cassie from a friend), well that and I wanted an excuse to make a blond wig >.> Probably should have left the orange out >.> If I make another blond one I will leave it out >.>

I frequently do a lot of cart before the horse things >.> Like start making wigs for dolls without them being there (as I did with My sister's Sprite.. which isn't even her next on her list >.<). You own RS boys yes? any bbb bodied boys? and You said you bought DZ stuff, are there any other brands you've bought your boys? The boys need as much help on the bbb vs rs thread as they can get. They are woefully under represented in the lists.

i dont know how entirely on topic this is (but i might order my BBB body from them, and im interested in mebe another sculpt) but you know how DDE has some dolls "on order" ? any one know/know how to find out when exactly those dolls will be in stock?! theyve been "on order" for a few months now ...

XD Its okay Lynn-san. No BBB bodies, just RS bodies. I have Liina who's on the RS boy body and a Sprite on the way on the RS boy body. I don't like how thick the three-part torsos are, I have a DZ double-jointed guy and he's slim, but just thicker in the waist then I really like... But he has fabulous posing abilities. But yeah, I'll do some checking in a bit on the DZ clothes I have, the Mo-2 outfit, and grab some photos, or maybe even a quick video clip of how they fit. XD Its pair of leather pants, a stretchy black shirt and a silver vest and hood thing, plus the DZ shoes which I already know fit the RS boy feet.

Right now I'm doing some quick sewing for my DZ guy. XD So Liina's hanging out on the bed looking disgusted by all the nakedness.

 

You'd have to e-mail them to ask...but I personally don't think they're updating the website as often as they should...Back in February I TRIED to put that light tan Bei in layaway...got an e-mail the next day that they were out of stock, had sold the last one the day before...but she has remained on the site, as in stock, in light tan ever since...she was NEVER marked as out of stock, or just 'on order'. I checked daily because it irritated me that they left her up on the site, when she had been sold. But it's also not unusual for dolls they have ordered to take 3-4 months to finally get shipped to them, either. Which is why I now only order dolls from them that are in stock. Faster to order directly...or from places like Featherfall that only do the Resinsoul side of things.

 

oy, guess what? im dumb and dont read >_< atleast, as far as the MSDs go -- next to the link for BBB MSDs it says to expect a shipment in april second! sooo ... yay! heads up any one wanting to order!

Oh, I might have some info in fittings and such, for those with a bobobie body. I've had the outfits for ages on my Minifee Marcia hybrid, but she wears a Dollheart outfit and it fits really well. Again, chest is just a cm less in circumfence (my estimate) than the size the outfit was meant for, but that doesn't matter. And her arms are just a tiny bit too short, but that's also not noticable.
Figured I'd mention it because we were talking about it anyway xD

 

Well I did a fitting on Liina, as soon as its done processing, I'll poke it into the clothing thread. Its a youtube video, just for giggles.
