I'm gonna pop in here because I've been lurking this thread for like an hour now and can't seem to find the information I'm looking for... I think the pretty doll photos are distracting me I'm probably just overlooking what I'm searching for...

I'm planning on getting a Ling, but she seems to be an unpopular sculpt because I can't seem to find measurements ANYWHERE. Even the Resinsoul website is vague.

What eye size does Ling take? Please feel free for photo spam of different sizes in her.
What shoes/clothing brands have you had luck with?
I did find that 8-9 wigs work best, but I've seen 7-8 work if there is a stretchy wig cap?

I had planned to transition back into the hobby with 1/3 sized dolls, but the Ling sculpt kinda just struck me and she's very in my price range Her smile is so sweet... I feel I must corrupt her.

Hi there! I have a Lian which is the same body as the Ling. I have a Dollmore Model dress for her which fits like a glove. I also have a Dollheart Outfit (Oblivion) which I got from Denver Doll. The website says its an SD16 but the box says its an SD13. So uh...? anyway, fits her perfectly. And I have her in a pair of Luts (I think) high heel boots. I ordered a pair of regular SD size heel feet from the Bobobie website so she could better wear the heel boots. It was worth the 30 day wait. I had a different pair of boots (unknown brand) and she just barely almost didn't fit in them and in a drunked fit of rage I broke the zipper on them. So yeah. Careful about that.

The JunkySpot has Ling along with her measurements:

• HEIGHT 68cm
• ARM LENGTH 19cm
• LEG LENGTH 36cm
• FOOT LENGTH 7.2cm
• HEAD SIZE 21.5cm (Takes a size 8.5-9 wig)

My Lian has elf ears so it makes wigs tricky. They just push the wigs right off in some cases. I tend to stick her in 8-9" with a wig cap but I'm sure she would work with 7-8" as well depending on brand/style. A Dollzone wig has worked best on my Lian but I currently have her in one that might be a Happy Camille. There was another one that was a Happy Camille that worked o.k. as far as staying power goes.

I love it to bits, but I'm not sure about the bust. I know Resinsoul girls have big ole tatas *ahem*I mean a mature bust but I think they're similar to Model dolls?

I'm still nervous about buying shoes. I love shopping on the Marketplace here, but have zero idea what to even search for. I still have to figure out her eye size too... I better get back on my searching

*cough* I have a Ling, or at least I have the parts to make up a Ling in my apartment. Ling's body belongs to Lasci, (she's a Mu) and regular SD shoes for the flat feet from Dollmore fit really well. SD sized boots in general, actually. (Lasci pretty much only wears boots) The Ling head is waiting on her Impldoll Idol body, but she wears 16mm eyes and fits in 8-9 wigs.
I actually have a DM Model Doll here as well and anything super stretchy should fit RS, but MDs have very hefty curves and shoulders so some things might fit a bit loose.

Woohoo thanks! I kinda want to see if I can make her sweet face more smirky so I don't want HUGE adorable doe eyes for her. That's my main concern with eye size. But the 16mms don't make her overly cutesy do they?

 

Whatever SD girl I get, she'll just be normal skin. I think I'd find it too hard to bond with any other colour without a super-planned out character that's supposed to have a fantasy skin tone (like the Drow, for example)
Even with the Drow, I had trouble deciding between the light grey and the dark grey for one character (she's a half-breed)

I've searched both Ai and Yun on Flickr, and Ai seems to be a little bit more common. In fact there only seem to be 2 or maybe 3 Yun on there...I wish I could find more of her. I'm leaning towards Yun because she looks like a grown-up Mei to me.
I like Ai, but I kinda feel like she's always frowning - could just be the faceup, though. Ai is actually really growing on me

Glad to know that DM Model clothes fit the RS 70cms! I was really scared about what I was gonna do to dress a 70cm girl if I ever got one xD

 

Legion (my ling) is a droid and has fantasy eyes, but I can take some eye comparisons for you tonight. I can also get a body comparison shot of Lasci with my Model Doll, if you'd like

I'd go more for super stretchy SD sized things. MDs are much heftier than RS, who then to be ultra slim!

And I personally would rather buy SD clothes as there is more variety... plus they tend to be less expensive.

 

@dollie addict I have a Ling (Maria). She isn't wearing dollmore model F clothes but my Chun (Syd) who has the same body is and they fit really well. They might be a little snug in the chest, but for Syd's outfit it worked just fine. They both are wearing guy shoes though since their feet don't seem to fit in any of the girl shoes I liked. I'll try and post a pic of my Ling when I get home. In the meantime, she's the blonde in the pic on my profile page.

Really the thing I need most is I'd like to see some 14mm eyes and 16mm eyes kinda side-glancing. Like looking to the side versus straight ahead. Someone sent me a few eye comparisons but I have always liked to have eyes glancing to the side for some reason so I'd like to see which size would suit my needs.

 

Not sure if I can help you :-( Pretty sure some of my MSDs are wearing 16mm eyes but idk if I have any 14mm. Honestly I don't know what size are in Maria or Syd's head. They came with them when I bought them secondhand so they are what they are lol. When I need eyes, I just go to the doll shop near me and try em out...I really need to start keeping track with who wears what size lol.

Well whatever size she's got in her noggin seems to be about the size I'm looking for.

 

I decided to take a huge leap and buy an rs lian at the end of september.
However I am torn between skin colors.
I'm doubting between blue(not sky blue) or gray(light gray).
I want to make my lian in a tennin(japanese version of an angel/celestial maiden)
Which skin color do you think would suit her the best?

 

I love their light grey skintone from what I've seen here. The color looks so smooth and alive.

 

You could do some very interesting things with the colour palette of her faceup and costume with the blue, I think. I get images of sweeping, colourful clothes and maybe an elaborate headdress! Alternatively the grey is very beautiful and would be more neutral and subtle but still 'not human', depending on what you're going for.

 

I've bought a yellow/golden chinese kimono set and planning to buy long chinese white boots and a long black wig for her.
I've heard that the blue from resinsoul sometimes photographs greenish is that true?
I never had a bjd in a fantasy color,is it difficult to put a face up on a bjd in a fantasy color?
and what kind of colors can I use with the blue resin color that looks good and not clownish?
sorry for the many questions I'm a newbie when it comes to fantasy colored bjd's.

 

I have not owned a fantasy doll or the blue or grey resin, so I can't say about photographing it, but I don't think doing a faceup on them is that much different. You can use shades of blue and grey and black, maybe even some white, if you're going for the natural look on a doll with cool-coloured skin, I would think. Red lips and blush might make her look like she's wearing makeup, but not in a bad way if it isn't too dark. Any face up can look clownish if the lines are too thick/dark.

I've done face-ups on the sky blue resin, and it's actually a lot of fun to work with. But don't use grey or black in the face-up, (unless you're going for an undead look, or something specific) Use desaturated dark purples and blues. Even rich reds can work, but in very slight amounts. Reddish browns as shading colors can work too, it just all depends on the look you're going for.

i hate to ask but does anyone have the 70 cm body along with Gang's body in comparison with some other big name companies like ringdoll, impldoll, etc I am trying to see the comparisons and you know how measurements and company pictures usually don't do the doll's justice in general.

 

Wow no ones posted in a while. I Have a Bobobie Ophelia and she's super wobbly, it is true that she was in a box for a year before I got her but I was wondering how poseable other Ophelias are. Shes so top heavy and I'm just worried that even when I restring her I'm going to have to end up using wires and suede in the legs to get her to stand. And her torso joint seems to pop in and out when shes trying to stand. Well I hope somebody checks this....

I have a BBB Charisma and she is a bear to stand. Unless I have her in shoes...Then she stands like a trooper...I have not wired her, but she is hot glue sueded. Hope this helps you out Zandalear!

I don't remember where I got the sueding tute from...It has been a few years..but I am sure that you can find something here on DoA and if not there is always you tube..that is where I started for my face-upping...LOL

If DoA is too much work to browse through (I know I get tired of the search systems of forums at times) I usually go to YouTube. Search for Hot Glue Sueding BJD and I'm sure it will come up lots of helpful videos :3 It was thanks to YouTube I learned how to restring, for instance

My hipster guy Nik (RS Gang) is taken apart and is waiting for me at home. We're getting the drainage system and pipes fixed and replaced so for 16 days I've temporarily moved out to live with a friend. All my resin friends are however at home, and to make sure they aren't in contact with bad smells or anything they're also in their boxes/bags in a closet. It felt absolutely terrible to put them in their boxes - my dolls are never kept in any compartment, for when I get them they instantly get their own place on my desk. So it was surprisingly hard to suddenly be without them However, in a couple of days I can go back home and the first thing I'll do is to give Nik some proper attention - like a face, poor guy xD

 

I actually pliver sueded my ED Rainy Soah years ago, as the hot glue suede I did didn't hold up as good as I liked. I know it works for alot of people, but my Soah was an especially floppy little thing and her resin was so smooth the hot glue just couldn't get a good grip I suppose. The pliver worked wonders though.

Okay, stupid question I know but what the heck is 'pliver', is it an actual material? I've seen it everywhere but you google it and get suede.

 

13 weeks ago I ordered my lilac Dai from DDE.. Still no word... sooooooo long.

DDE takes FOREVER. I think my RS order through them (like 2 years ago) took... 16-18 weeks

Hey gang! So, finally I'm back home and had a day off, which I spent entirely on my best bud Nik. As he's Gang on the 70cm body he's had some problems with giraffee, meaning too much neck xD I finally got the courage to stick the knife in him and slit his throat (woah!). A whole 1,2 cm got shredded away, and the result's much better now, imo :3

So far I've sanded down his nose and his nipples, his abs (not present on these photos) and today his neck Tomorrow I'll try to find time to give him a face, and then he'll be put together again, after over a month spent in pieces. Can't wait to have him back in whole!

 

Such a subtle change but great results. The neck shortening made such a great difference! Make sure you post shots of his new face when you get him painted up.

 

I now have twins! I'm very Excited. Their names are Caesium and Mercury. Cas is very protective of his brother. I love my kitties!



I just got Mercury yesterday and started his mods today. I'm so excited to have him!

Does anyone know if you can squeeze a Gang head into a Leeke 7/8 wig? I know their wigs tend to run a bit big, so I'm hopeful.
Also, does he look okay with 16mm eyes?
I plan on bringing him home in the next couple of months, and want to see what I can hold off on buying for now. He's going to be my first sd, and I want to get a feel for him before I go on a major buying spree.

I'm glad you like my Kitties, Dollieaddict. I need parts for Mercury so bad. He needs human legs and the gang hands so I hope to order them or find them within the next couple month. I figure the gang legs too, that way the twins will have a lot of their features in common, but the softer torso and more slight shoulders will reinforce the more gentle nature of mercury. I think once I get him closer, get all of his parts where they need to be, I will once more turn to Cas's body and do the modifications that are required to make him as lethal as he should be. Both of them, once complete, should be able to move and pose as cats, slinky bendy nimble cats, so I am going to have to tweak every aspect of their joints to open up their movement without compromising their stability and ability to hold a pose. Then... I'm going to go back and make Dallieh perfect. I will finish the mod I didn't have enough experience to do when I started him.

Yes Dallieh was in a Leeke maddox that was a 7/8. Now he has a monique gold wig. For eyes the biggest I ever used for him were 14s and that was only because that is what he came with. That is personal preference however. I tend to like a smaller sized iris on a large cornia so there is no gapping, but they have a more realistic adult look. D's eyes are the first eyes that I ever made. I am still happier with his than almost everyone else's. Azriel's are pretty cool and so are Vail's. As for D himself... well it has been a while. Today I was given the task of undressing them for a show that is coming up this weekend. They... helped. It started innocently enough. Dallieh wears his Kimono as though he were in his tomb, opposite the way a living person would as he is no longer alive... and Angel can't deal with that. He tells him to take it off. He tells him that he isn't dead, that he is more alive than anyone else he has ever met and starts pulling the Kimono off forcible. D always has this crazy reaction when Angel acts like that. it has been so long since someone has even spoken to him as though he weren't some kind of dog or monster that he just grabs him and kisses him. He hasn't ever met anyone like Angel before. He hasn't been close to anyone before or really had anyone who wanted to be close to him. He is overcome.
