Bobobie and Resinsoul Discussion - Part 11!!

Dec 2, 2016

    1. I don't have a Juri, but I have an F60 Lacrima, and I got a pic with them together.

the resin match from NS to WS just doesn't work, but RS does custom colours. This is how she looks with me holding her head up a little, where it would be with a little sueding and a neck doughnut to keep the neck from going inside the head where the key is built to go

      • x 4
    2. @Chameleon Thank you! That looks great! I wasn't worried about the color match, because like you said, they will do custom colors.
Is the gap between the head and neck too big? The wig I have for her won't cover the neck so I can't really hide it.

    3. I’ll get some pictures closer to her neck tomorrow, but I don’t think it was that bad...

    4. Thank you so much! I appreciate it.

    5. Question for anyone with a Resinsoul Yun head! What size eyes does the Yun head take? I looked on their website, but I don't see anything about it. I ordered a Yun on the 60cm body, and I want to have some eyes ready for when she gets here!

    6. Greetings, all!

I just got my jointed hands in today. They're beautiful, and so delicate! I spent a ridiculously long time playing around with them, and putting them into different poses. :XD:

One thing I hadn't thought of until recently, was the fact that the lovely boy I bought them for (Luca, my Gang) is 8 years old. It was certainly a given that he's very slowly changed color a bit, and yes, the new hands are most definitely lighter than he is. I'll probably blush them a little, but all things considered, I'm not at all unhappy about the color he's mellowed out to (it's really quite lovely!). He was my very first doll, and I will ALWAYS love him to bits. <3

Picture + links to a few others:

Definite color difference. I'd forgotten how pale NS is, to be honest!
(Sorry he's in his underpants... I dragged the poor fellow out of his bed to get some photos. LOL.)

      Another angle...
      Color difference...
      Martinis, anyone?!

Sorry about that last one. I've been making him hold random stuff, and the Martini glass actually made me laugh. So...

    7. Thanks @Mekkisry for posting the RS jointed hands. I've been really curious about them for a while. They look like they are pretty easy to pose and they look quite delicate too. I might have to order some in the future after seeing yours.

    8. @shirahime: No problem at all! :) If you'd like any other info/pictures, I'm happy to help. They are lovely hands, and so very inexpensive, in comparisons to most other companies. I'm glad to have them, and they were most definitely worth the wait.

    9. Hello ResinSoul and Bobobie people. *waves*

I figured it might be a little better to ask here since you guys have RS dolls of course. Anywho, I was wondering if there was anyone who has a Resinsoul Mu that they can show compared to a ResinSoul Yang or any dolls that use those bodies to show a size comparison.

I have my beloved RS Mu body, who I'm planning to hybrid with a new head *while keeping my Dan head that I originally got with it because I adore that head way too much* and then a Yang body hybrid with another head as well but I'm worried he's going to look too small in comparison to the larger body for taking photos of them together.

Is there anyone here who can snap a quick pic of those two together (a Gang body totally works too, doesn't necessarily need to be the hooved body it's mostly just to check rough proportions)?

I would totally appreciate any and all help and I love seeing everyone's beautiful ResinSouls and Bobobies. I still utterly adore their dolls completely. They are just too cute! :)

    10. So... just out of curiosity, does anyone know if a 7-8" Monique wig would fit on a Gang head? I think it would work, but I'm not 100% on that. My poor Luca has been in an 8-9" Leeke wig for years, and it's ALWAYS been far too big for him. I'd really like to get Paris, in 7-8"; I think that style in particular needs to be quite fitted to the head, considering the shape & lack of bangs and such.

Thanks in advance for any help/advice!

    11. I'm not sure if anyone might be able to help me with this, but what size of clothes fit the 68 cm dolls? I have my heart set on one, but the clothing is a challenge.

    12. I don't know if this has already been answered, but what size of eyes does ResinSoul Mi take? Also, can I see some spam of this gorgeous sculpt? I saw her randomly and fell in love :D:D

    13. I have asked this on the Specific Doll thread, trying to get an identification on this doll that I saw in a YouTube video. The videographer has not replied to my messages, and I do want to get this doll. She looks like she might be Rachel or Ophelia. Can any of you Bobobie experts help me figure out who this mystery girl is? I'd be forever grateful.[IMG]

    14. I ordered a pink Dan, a month ago (hopefully she ships soon ahhhh) and was intending on modding her ears to be more human or elf like, but the more owner photos I see, the more I begin to like her original ears

    15. -sneaks in-

      Hey ^^
I'm currently waiting for my male Ai in purple skin. I've wanted him since 2011, but until now I never managed to order him, lol. I ordered him at the beginning of May, with layaway. In a few days I will send the last payment. -is getting excited- :dance

I've been stalking box opening videos and all Resinsoul related threads here and in other forums since I made the order. I'm soooo ready to get my own doll by now. XD

    16. Can anyone measure the neck of the 58cm female body? (The one with the Dai head). I am trying to varify measurements for a hybrid.

    17. @Reslie it is exactly 8cm, Hope that helps!

      • x 1
    18. Thank you. One site said 9 another said 10 and i found one that said 8.

    19. You're welcome:)

    20. Hi everyone. I was planning on buying a resin soul body and was looking at videos on youtube and it looks like if you order direct from resin soul they send your doll or bodies in a nice leather carry case? Is this true? Also is there usually a long wait with resin soul. Also I am enjoying seeing every ones dolls.

    21. When I got my RS Lian, back in...2012? 2013? they sent a leather carry case. It's been a bit beaten up since then (moved countless times, etc) but it's the perfect size for the bigger bodies, and if I'm pressed, I can pop my Mei in there as well. The handle's a bit flaky at this point, but it works great.

      • x 2
    22. Well it's not actually leather, but yes, if you order direct from RS you do get a free case. They also have the shortest wait times of all the places you can order ResinSoul dolls from (except for JunkySpot because they only sell in-stock dolls) and great customer service.

    23. I’m so excited. I’m ordering a Mi head for my girl who used to be a hybrid, and a second mi twin for her. She’s going to be so beautiful!!! The 60cm body, with how slim it is is ideal for bulkier armour, which is exactly what I’m making!

      • x 1
    24. My doll just arrived after 8 weeks, and yes if you order direct from RS they send them in a a leather carry case; the one I got is a lovely cream color

    25. Thank you I am going to order direct from Resin Soul I think I ll get more for my money that way.

    26. Could someone tell me the measurements of the ankle ball of the 1/3 high-heel girl feet? One of my SD Vito boys needs to be able to wear some killer thigh-high boots I have (that he'll be stealing from one of my other boys) and his manly feet won't fit in the boots, like at all. I've also got an Iple FID boy that insists he needs heeled shoes/boots so he's also a candidate for a pair of RS girl heeled-feet as well.

    27. My demon has arrived. <3
He still needs a face up, but I'm already so in love. ^^

    28. How easy is it to have them match a resin colour? I'm wanting to put a Fairyland head on their body so I was also wondering if anyone had recent normal skin they could show a comparison with any year Fairyland. Also is the blue or sky blue brighter?

    29. Sky blue is the darker blue; some people take the parts they want to match to somewhere with paint swatches and match the original parts to a swatch then send the swatch to Resinsoul rather than sending doll parts. You can get resin matching done by sending an email to the company, IIRC

    30. @Calphedoll I've been admiring that Dai for a few days now! She is lovely, though she's down the list of RS dolls I'd like (trying for a Yang first)

    31. After three years (years!) of being in storage, I finally got out my Lian, did a face up/body blush, and restrung her. I love her sad little pointy face, but my goodness she's terribly difficult to pose. I've got her strung with 5 mm elastic in her arms and 5 mm shock cord in her leggies, hot glue sueding and everything, but she just will. not. stand. It's possible that I'm doing something wrong (as it turns out, I'm probably more suited to smaller dolls, and working with Lian's been a bit of a challenge because of it), but I'm wondering if it's just me, or if there's any tips you all have for better posing?

As tax, here's one of the pictures I took today while I was trying to figure out which outfit of hers I liked best!

    32. She's lovely!

I honestly don't know what constitutes the right tension. I know too tight and I know too loose, but as to that happy medium I have no idea. I know you don't want too much give in the elastic and I've found a lot of the elastic in sewing shops lately is too stretchy. The thickness sounds right, SDs need sturdy elastic. And if you have her hot glue sueded that should help too. It may just be something with the sculpt as I know some ppl do find a common issue with some of the bodies, forgive me tho I don't recall which ones.

I have a Long, an Ai, and a Gang and I can make all 3 stand. But I also love the balancing challenge that they present and I think at this point I could proly go balance rocks on the beach now hehe!

I know there can be issues if the arm strings go through the head, or if the knots are in the wrong place. I have the knot for the arms in the center of the torso and I leave the knot for the torso and legs a bit lower down in the chest so it won't catch on the arm string. I only have the 2 lines for the leg/torso string on the hook. It takes patience and wiggling to get things situated, then trial and error for the tension. Other than that, you can try to wire her. And you could just be stuck with an uncooperative body. Best of luck tho!

    33. I have this body and it's not just you - this body is an absolute beast to pose. The below picture is literally the most dynamic shot I've managed to get of mine, and she's propped up against the door frame.
I can get her to stand (feet shoulder width apart, and ram-rod straight) or sit (also ram-rod straight) but not much else, and I almost exclusively have big dolls (most of my girls are 65-68cm and the guys are 71-75cm).
I think the main issue is that Resin Soul mostly just scaled up their MSD bodies - which, in all fairness, is what most companies do - but the engineering that works for a much smaller, lighter doll, doesn't for a much larger and heavier one. But I also love their lovely sharp faces, so sighing and teeth grinding it is (or hybriding;))

    34. Okay, this makes me feel better, thank you! I've tried to get her to stand with shoes, without shoes, with glue, without glue....she would just prefer to lay down. Which like, okay, I sympathize with, but isn't great for photographing, lol. I think I got her to kneel once? Do you know if anyone's tried wiring? I might make an attempt, just to see how it goes.

But yeah, you're so right about the faces. :D She just looks so sad and pointy! Is yours a night elf? I love the eyebrows!

    35. @lessyface I used to have this body when I had my RS Chun and I did the same thing, restrung her with 5mm, glue sueded her and I still had trouble getting her to stand on her own. I also had the same issues with the old 70cm Long bodies as well. You could try wiring and if you do, let us know how you go with it. I'm curious as I've had my eye on Lian lately but I've been hesitating because I remember how frustrating that body was for me when I used to have it. I'm kind of hoping RS redesign the body. I have their new SD girl body (the one that comes with Su) and after restringing her and putting in some silicone kips, she's actually very good at posing now. She stands quite well on her own.

    36. Thank you so much for this; I'm sorry I initially missed it! This was super helpful and very interesting--I'm wondering now if the knots are off. I have both the knots pulled up and on the S-hook, so maybe she's a bit too tense? That elastic is no joke; it's pretty sturdy. I'm definitely going to fiddle with that and see if it helps, because she is a bit kicky now that I think about it.

@shirahime -- I am going to try wiring at least her arms this weekend, I think, if I get a minute to go to the Home Depot. Even if it doesn't quite help enough to stand, Lian is such a beautiful sculpt that I'm really glad to have her. I did her faceup and had such a rough time with it because of the grey resin, but her features are so delicate and lovely that she's just wonderful to have around. Could you get Lian's head on the Su body, perhaps, or are the proportions off?

    37. @lessyface I believe the bigger girl heads are a lot bigger than the SD girls so she could possibly look seriously bobble headed and a bit off. I think you did a great job on her face up. Loving the colours you used for her. She has a very unique and distinct look which I've come to know as the 'Resinsoul' look. They are beautiful dolls. Their sculpts are their own style which is nice. I recently watched a video on wiring but have yet to try it. Might have to do this on an OT doll who is constantly floppy even sueded.

    38. I'm always happy to share pictures of Millicent, my Resinsoul Mi <3 I recently redid her faceup, and I'm so happy with how it turned out! She's in normal skin.

    39. I think that she's a BBB Rachel, as Ophelia's eyes are set a little bit lower than Rachel's. I cannot say for sure because of the angle though as both sculpt are very very very similar :?.

I found this photo from ai♥wowie's flickr of a BBB Rachel (I hope she doesn't mind :eusa_pray):
      Bobobie Rachel

Maybe the link to the photo I sent help a bit with the ID?
      :kitty2

    40. Hiya...its been a while...I'm curious I saw a post back on page 1? I think, anyway of Ai and Su heads...is the Su head really bigger than Ai (I'm not talking ears) if so was curious if anyone tried Su head on 68cm girl body? I know I could message RS but figured I'd give a shot here first.
Also what about Long head on the new 70cm body? I found when I had my previous old 70cm Long I just thought his head was too big for the body (although I guess that could be said for most of their dolls..lol)
      Thanks :)

    41. Wow, @Lavily your Mi looks amazing! I almost didn't recognise her as a Mi at all first, because she looks so different from my own Mi, but of course skin tone and face-up does a lot.

Speaking of Mi and Resinsouls 60 cm-girl bodies. Does anyone have any suggestions to where I could buy clothes that fit that very lanky body? Or suggestions for more common dolls with the same kind of measurements that I could use to search after?

I don't enjoy sewing and I haven't been able to convince my professional(!) theatre and historical costume seamstress-wife to sew that small for me (Rhea isn't very stable at the moment, so wife gets frustrated trying do so). I've bought some random SD-sized clothes, which kind of fit, but she's also drowning in them?

    42. I have a Zaoll Ramie on the lanky 60cm body. She was previously on the zaoll body and she still wears a lot of her old clothes. The sleeves and hems are short, but bust/waist wise the fit is pretty solid. I realize this may not help for historical clothing where you need to be more considerate of hem lenght for modesty, but could help for some more modern clothing where it's not as big of an issue.

    43. Thanks @ronnie92 I'll definitely check it out!

    44. @Kitty Blue Hi! That was my pic, I had asked Sun for a comparison of Ai and Su, I don't actually have Su's head.

Also I find Long's head is almost too big for his body, but some people have put him on smaller bodies and like it so...depends on your level of bobble-head aesthetic I guess, hehe!:kitty1

    45. I have a (modded) Long head on the Mirodoll muscular 60cm body and the fit feels pretty good. It's a large head, but since the body is more chunky too it feels like a good fit.

    46. Just ordered my first BJD - an RS Mi.

Any good eye recommendations? What sizes do you use, hoping for something with a smaller iris as I am not too keen on cutesy style things (so I’d assume going an eye size down tends to work).

Also, can anyone tell me some good companies for buying clothes for her as she is obviously very slender and most SD13 items will drown her!

      TIA :3nodding:

    47. I saw pictures of RS Ke for the first time today and I'm completely smitten. I just culled my collection last year, but Yang was tugging at my heart strings and to think of him and Ke together has left me the wants real bad. It's weird because I told myself no more large dolls! Anyway, any Ke owners here who would like to show a full body shot? Curious as to how big 68 cm feels.

    48. Does anyone know if Alice Collections SD 1/3 clothes fit the Bobobie double jointed body well? I'm just worried he'll swim in them like he does his currently sd sized clothes. :3nodding:

    49. Does anyone know if the Ling head will fit on a male body? Preferably 60cmish

    50. Hello. I've been considering getting a RS Dai and I think her default body is very pretty, but is it only single jointed? I might have to think about getting her on the other 1/3 body if it is.

    51. The arms are single jointed and the legs have a peanut and mobility joint.

    52. Does anyone know of a pair of jointed hands that would fit RS Yi body?

I love Yi but I wanted a pair of jointed hands to go with him and RS doesn't make them in this size yet.

    53. I did a bit of searching around on DOA, and I did find someone on the MP with a pair of Granado jointed hands on the Yi body. They looked pretty proportionate, and I would think any pair of jointed hands similar in size would work. I would suggest looking for ones made specifically for 70cm boys. Some good suggestion you could look into: Dika Doll, Doll Legend, Granado, Doll Family-H, (maybe) Doll Leaves. Most dealers list them (like Alice's Collections).

      Hope this helps!

    54. Hey all. :D I'm currently waiting on an incoming Bobobie Pandora but I can't find what eye size she takes. If anybody could let me know that would be really helpful!

    55. @AlisonVonderland I believe it's 18mm I have in my Pandora, I'll double check tomorrow.

    56. I love the large ears:)
It's great to see the sculpts righ next to each other. Photos from RS side does their sculpts no justice at all.
