Blue Fairy Pocket Fairy Discussion part 2

Dec 18, 2012

    1. Does anyone have any advice on sueding Pocket Fairies? They're so intimidatingly small!!

    2. I have no advice on sueding but I did wire some of mine after receiving one from BF that they had wired. It doesn't really make them more posable as it does keep their arms and legs from kicking and bending. Let us know if you try it and how it works. I might consider it if you have good results.

    3. Waiting is such a hard thing to do!

    4. Here's a pic of baked Charlie to help with the waiting ^--^

    5. Aw, thank you Melissa ❤️. Her socks and shoes are super cute!

    6. midolls*melissa she's super cute! I want a baked Pocket Fairy, but it's so hard to pick one!

    7. I've just had an email from BlueFairy telling me that my doll is ready but that she was ordered without make-up ‍♀️. It's going to take another month for the make-up. Gah!

    8. bummer, that's so disappointing but she will be worth the extra wait time, especially when you have that cute little one home with you ^--^

thank you, I know it's hard to choose, all those little faces are so adorable ^--^

    9. Wow, these are all so adorable!

    10. My little Baked Choco arrived today. I can't share photos but the link is below. She's a lot darker than my other two baked girls. I'll have to take a better photo in daylight.
Also one hand is really floppy :( - it just hangs there. I can't spot why. Any ideas? I'm not convinced about the new body.

      Photos on my Flickr.

      Different tans

    11. Congratulations! your baked Choco is so adorable!!! ah, so sweet ^--^
all of my baked BF's are a different color too
for the hand thing try pulling out her shoulder and see if the knot in the elastic is caught up somehow
(it should be in the center inside of the torso when the arms are relaxed)

    12. She's adorable! It does seem like there's a knot caught somewhere it shouldn't be.

    13. im not entirely sure if he's on topic here (if anyone knows for sure please let me know?!) so i won't post any pics, but i got the resin version of milky fairy minimay closed mouth on the pepper body yesterday. ive got him in boots and he has a really hard time standing, does anyone know anywhere that sells doll stands for this size?
also, i can't seem to get his wig to stay on, it really likes slipping off and taking the top of the magnetic head cap with it :?
does anyone have any advice for that? im not entirely convinced i'd be able to fit a silicon cap under it if i had one. :/

    14. Look for a stand for the 8 inch Betsy McCall.

A bit of your favorite eye setting compound or a bit of double stick tape should help with the wig. If the head cap is coming off that easily taping it on might also provide enough hold for the wig. I like Tamiya masking tape. It comes in various sizes and 2mm or 6mm would probably work.

    15. oh thank you so much! i found the perfect stand right away! ^0^
i don't have any double stick tape, but i'll try some of my eye putty hoard i bought from dollzonea long time ago. i'm worried the gunk might get in the hair though, i'll have to be extra careful. :X
i think we have masking tape somewhere too, so i'll try and find that. thank you so much!! ;w;<3

    16. went for a walk today and took Remy with me, more of a photostory on flickr

    17. Your Remy is wonderful!

    18. aw, melissa, i always love seeing your well-dressed and colorful little army!! :)

    19. Thank you both, I just love Pocketfairy :D

    20. He is adorable Melissa. I love his little top hat!

    21. So where are some of your favorite shops? Betty would love some new threads!

    22. Thank you :)

Betty is so cute! I love her wig. Did you get it that way or did you take her to the hair dresser :)

    23. It was a stock wig on a Little Ai (from the people who make pullip) I trimmed it and it flipped out perfectly

    24. Finally joining in on the Pocket Fairy thread :) I am waiting for a Didi on the Sister body since October now, and she will probably ship out at the end of the month. Anyone else here who has the sister/brother body? I am so curious for it! I will certainly do a review.
Now I have a question for Didi owners, what eye size do you use for her/him? On the Bluefairy site I can only find generic eye size for pocket fairy, 8-10mm. I'm guessing with the narrow eyes 8mm would be better, but I might even try 6mm, don't know how big the eyes are, if there will be gapping?

      • x 1
    25. I can't wait to see your Didi on the sister body! All of my PF's, including my two Didi's, have 8mm eyes.

    26. This is the first time seeing these wonderful little ones. I need to see more!

    27. I buy from etsy and look for 'ruruko' doll clothing as they seem to be the closest match. Not everything will work though so you have to be careful. My girls wear the sleeveless dresses by Kosucus on etsy.

      • x 3
    28. @midolls*melissa They look so adorable! ❤ Thank you, I found some 8mm eyes on etsy with a small iris, so going to give them a try :)

      • x 1
    29. Thanks for all the clothing suggestions! Are those for the sugar/pepper bodies?

I'm battling to find shoes for my Pocket Fairy (the smaller original type). The puki shoes I've tried are too small, and the pukifee/Lati yellow shoes are too big. Does anyone know where I could find shoes?

    30. Keri, if you don't mind plastic shoes, DecoNiki (from Petworks) are not bad. They fit well (but only original pocket size, too small for sugar), have a lot of colors (past releases are mostly sold out though, can be found on ebay at insane price :( ) and new ones are still being released.
Here's example of some of mine:

    31. yes, those are the sugar and pepper bodies on my Yoko and Jimmy. not sure about the shoes other than Blue fairy PF shoes some older styles of which are super tight on the sugar and pepper feet

    32. I am thinking of ordering some long overdue stuff for my little Yoko but I have never ordered from the BF website.

Do they send you a PayPal invoice or do you have to just send them the money? The ordering process isn't all that clear on their site.

Any info on this is appreciated

    33. I went to Bluefairyinternational site to check my order history to see if it would jog my memory some. I haven't ordered from their ordering system since 2014! that being said I have ordered several ways, directly through their ordering system, by emailing them directly, and when they had their agent selling on facebook. I was able to pay through their ordering system with paypal or with credit card but for some reason I could not use my paypal credit and I think it is why for some orders I used credit card instead of paypal. and I remember always telling them in their q&a section that I made my payment and they would respond that they received it. I don't know if any of this helps or not, it's all I could remember

      • x 1
    34. @spensers_mom I have very recently made a couple of purchases through Bluefairy, and I had to send the money through paypal myself, just put the order number in your transaction. I haven't had to contact Bluefairy about it, and always got a conformation within a day :)

So, my Didi (and SF Andy) shipped! :dance Can't wait!!

    35. Thanks for the advice everyone!

    36. Adorable!

That picture is lovely. Her outfit is darling.

    37. Does anyone have advice for tightening PF elastics??? I've got a few original body PFs and one Pepper body who are SOOOO loosely strung that trying to even put clothes on them makes me scream. They're just so little, though, that I'm worried about snapping the strings that hold their hands/feet on. It's hard enough to put their wigs on, but when they flop and kick like that... aaaah!!!

    38. I am having the same problem with my Pocketfairy Sugar and Pepper bodies. To be fair, I've had most of the them for quite a few years now, and elastic does degrade. Oh boy though is it frustrating to change their clothes and they definitely won't hold any pose no matter what I do. Constantly squirming, kicking and flailing around lol. I did try wiring them but I didn't like how stiff they appeared in photos so I took it all back out. Now they are in doll stands in my doll cabinet and I haven't done anything thing with them in a long while. I should probably start restring them. I don't look forward to doing it. Maybe some rainy day far, far in the future lol. I've probably posted this pic before but way too many to restring!

    39. (Did DOA just... stop alerting us?? Your reply is a month ago and i never saw it!)

Aaaah your crew is just too cute!!! Did you make all those tiny pajamas? Would you be willing to post slopers if you did?

And has anyone had luck with Monique 4" wigs?? I'm looking for a few more hairstyles than Blue Fairy has to offer...

      • x 1
    40. Thank you, not sure about DAO sometimes I get the alerts most of the time I don't.
The PJ's were made by DutchBlytheFashions on Etsy.
I commissioned her to make them, she does't have PF's to tweek the patterns (they are Odeco size), and the pants are a bit tight to get on.
I've only gotten bob cuts from Monique for my PF's.

    41. I think the new message alerts only last a short time. I check the unwatch threads at least once a day.

    42. Pushing this thread back up in the hope that someone else is better at taking photos of their dolls than I am!

    43. Hiyo everyone i just ordered a Pocket Fairy sugar Baked Yoko!! Im so excited iv waited a year for BF to come out with a baked ver of Yoko shes representing my OC Rain im really excited! I ordered her through Angelsque first time ordering through this dealer. This is my first Pocket fairy i have a shiny fairy from Blue Fairy as well i love BF sculpts over the years of collecting dolls i keep coming back to them. This is also my first tiny doll i have a Littlefee but nothing tinier than her and wanted to have a tinier doll to travel with and i thought Pocket Fairy would be perfect!

    44. Congrats Cinibunny! I think you'll find that Pocket Fairies are like chips... it's hard to stop at just one!

I hope your wait is a short one!

    45. @Cinibunny Congrats! Yoko is a darling sculpt. You will love her!

    46. I love Yoko! She was the impetus for me to buy my first bjd and I couldn't let her be alone so her and Jimmy where my first bjd's. I can't wait to see your pics of baked Yoko and hear how you like the new body (I don't have any in my collection) :dance

    47. Thank you everyone! I sure hope its a short wait she gave me a 4 month estimate i thought BF was one of the faster companies from what i heard. But yes! im sure i will get addicted to them iv been looking at them for years but always got distracted with other dolls im really happy i jumped back on board to snatch the sculpt i want. @midolls*melissa

Yoko is darling!! She fit so well for my character i couldnt say no and had to wait for her. Ill be sure to post a little video box opening when i get her (i have not done this in forever but they are so much fun to do! ) I love both the sculpts you picked for your pocket fairy would be the same for me as well! Very cute! look at her sparkly shoes thats so adorable :D!! Im looking to get her into baggy sweater would littlefee clothing work for that? i cant wait to go shopping already im already looking at wigs. Curious question the Pocket fairys dont wear eyelashes do they? i was looking at the promo picks for her didnt notice any on her but i was curious about it.

    48. I'm not sure about littlefee clothing, I don't know that doll, but mine are wearing clothes that fit petworks Odeco, Niki and Usaggi or Ruruko. Also Azone clothes that fit xs body like Ruruko also some Lati clothes but they are a little short in the leg and sleeve.

Of my 14 PF's only my baked PF Noma came with lashes but he was not a standard release

    49. @Cinibunny , Bluefairy used to be lightning-fast with their in-stock dolls (I got some within a week of ordering) but a few years ago, they changed their business plan and don't really keep in-stock dolls now. Now they just take orders for certain sculpts during different times of the year, which they then make, which takes 3 to 4 months.

    50. @midolls*melissa
No worries she might be a bit too big for Pocket fairy though since pocket fairys seem slimmer Littlefees are YOSD size bit bigger around the waste as well. Oh! Thank you for the tips on clothing i will look around for petworks clothing iv heard that lati and pukifee tights and clothing work as well didnt know about the leg part ether i appreciate it! I also heard that Pure Neemo S shoes might fit too but im still looking into it.

Thats interesting so they did try to add lashes in? Im curious how they turned out! I got my Pocket Fairy blank i try to practice on faceups iv painted all my doll faceups. Reason i asked though i saw some white eyelashes and i thought they might look really cute on her! But than i was like wait a minute do they even have eyelashes had me thinking.

      @Reynardine
I remember these times! I didnt know they changed things so much i had a time where i was a bit away from ball jointed dolls in general and slowly saw the dealers leave Blue Fairy and than limited sculpts and limited time periods. Im guessing they arnt getting as many orders in now a days it makes me scared they will go under one day (Do they still have the Blue Fairy cafe up in S Korea? ) i havent seen a company cut so close on dolls except Leekeworld but there main focus was wigs.

    51. @Cinibunny The Bluefairy Cafe shut down a few years ago. On their board, they recommended another cafe that does have their dolls on display there. So yeah, they have really downsized.

    52. YOSD is definitely too big.
PNS shoes fit, clothing is a little big not in a bad way, PNxs is a better fit on the clothes

the lashes were only on my dollshow special Noma

here is a closeup but still hard to see the lashes:

    53. @Reynardine

Aww!! I cant believe the Cafe shut down im really sad to hear that :( but im happy another Cafe is displaying there dolls i was really hoping to visit in a couple year i was going to see i if i could do a japan and South Korea trip. It really does seem like they downsized i hope the company is still doing well with sales i love Blue Fairys sculpt one of the cutest companies i just think there is too many doll companies out there now a days and with recasts being about might be a reason why things downsized :(. I dont see them advertise as much ether to be honest.

      @midolls*melissa

Yeah i thought it would be a bit too big but i thought maybe for an oversized sweater it might work but might be overkill baggy on her. PNS? Hm ill have to look into them i was looking through petworks clothing (Thank you for all the information on them :D!!!) the other night when you mentioned it i found a lot of cute outfits i am tempted to just get the doll with it and just steal the clothing off them because ordering some clothing is as much as those dolls :sweat .Im looking into some long cowboy boots that fit the neemo s not sure if the leg length is the same sizing as the dolls? do you know the ankle to knee length for sugar bodies? they only provide
      Leg Length : 10.5cm (4.13inch) - waist to ankle
      Foot Length : 2cm (0.8inch)
but i guess its a weird question to ask i feel like i asked too much already sorry to bother OTL i feel like i should be shopping after i get her but i think i got too excited.
      Imgur
      [IMG]

Those lashes on her look absolutely adorable!!! Thank you for the photo i cant believe they dont put them on all there dolls it looks so natural ! i was actually thinking they didnt put any on there dolls because its so tiny now im just wondering why not? :D

    54. I received my girl today! She is beautiful well made but the worse packaging I have ever had from a doll company :(. Paper thin box smashed, no bubble wrap around the doll itself just the box

[IMG] , rubber band that didn't hold the doll. The doll was free flying in the box with no support. My husband shook it thought he ordered a USB cable because it rattled.

    55. @Cinibunny I got a baked Noma and he came in a box like that, but he was tied down with ribbon and elastic, and did not shuffle around in his box at all. Maybe your doll had such a turbulent trip that he got loose? Or maybe your Yoko was packed before being secured? And when you choose the "No make up" option, it doesn't come with eyes-- it's ready to be completely customized how you like.

    56. Wow, that's a big change with the box! When I got my two Pocket Fairies (Orange Betty and Limited White Choice Roel), they came in boxes similar to the larger Shiny Fairy and Tiny Fairy dolls, complete with pillows. But that was in 2013.

    57. @Reynardine Up until now, they've been coming in little cardboard boxes like the bigger dolls did-- the fold-in tops and the carrying handles (picture credit to Ellesmera). This new window box looks like the boxes Jerry Berry dolls come in. I'm with you-- I prefer the rectangle boxes that could fit 2 (or 3!) dolls in at once.

    58. This picture prompted me to think of ‘teacup dolls’ - like teacup chihuahuas. Love them.
