Blue Fairy Pocket Fairy Discussion part 2

Dec 18, 2012

    1. I have no info on the new body...the suspense of it all...

    2. These dolls are so cute! Would you recommend them as first-time dolls? I like the tiny dolls much better than the big heavy ones btw :love

    3. If you like the minimalist look, then yes, I'd recommend them. My preference is for the taller Sugar/Pepper body as I like the longer leg proportions but the regular PF body is more childlike. If you prefer dolls that are more on the realistic side or gymnastic in their posing then you may want to look elsewhere.

    4. I'm mainly looking for a small doll, since I don't have much storage room. Also, the tinies are so cute! :kitty1

    5. Yes, they are! They also work so well with all the dollhouse props so there's no shortage of things to buy for them but it all stores away easily.
PFs have a unique look -- most other tinies in this range have a bigger 'bobble' head, but they are more proportional. If you like their look, they're actually a good deal right now since Bluefairy will be revising the bodies soon.

    6. Take your time and look around. There are a lot of adorable tines. Supia has released new baby sups. Withdoll has cute little ones also. You might want to look through the Comparison photos of tiny ABJDs (tinies)

    7. I need help, how do you restring a pocket fairy?
She needs sueding but I don't know how to unstring her since she doesn't have hooks...

    8. I saw it but I don't understand how to do that backwards, and those black and white pics aren't very clear anyway.

    9. Lots of the older little dolls did it that way. The elastic goes through the foot and the the foot goes through the loop . To undo it, you must get a hold of the little piece of elastic going around the the two sides of the loop using something like a small crochet hook and pull it out until the loop is long enough to go over the foot. I would start with a foot as there aren't little fingers to break!

If you are going to restring with new elastic, I would just cut the elastic!

    10. Does anyone have any new photos to share?

    13. What a cute gang Midolls*Melissa! I love the matching clothes.

Does anyone know how often Bluefairy offers the "baked" skintone?

    14. Thank you so much!

Bluefairy randomly offers the baked events, you never know you just have to save up in anticipation, this last one they didn't offer any Pocketfairy

    15. Does anyone know when the ordering period opens this month?

    16. Never mind. When I logged in to the site it was posted.

    17. This thread has been very quite. I got a new pf sugar, the watermelon Roa! I was happy cause I'm not to sure about the new bodies. Also, did anyone else notice the new brother/sister bodies?!? They look so cool!
Here is Roa, no name yet! She's just so happy!

    19. Hello all! Silly question, but if I order a new pocket fairy sugar will the body be double jointed? I can't seem to work it out.

Also if they are double jointed is it just in the arms or the legs too??

    20. @haiiroko, hello! Yes, it looks like both the upper arms and upper thighs now have a swivel joint. I purchased an "Orange Betty" Pocket Fairy in August, and she's got the extra joints.

Unless by "double jointed" you actually meant elbows and knees?? Yes, she has those, too. Double joints in elbows and knees, and swivel joints in upper arms/thighs. Seems kind of unnecessary on such a small doll lol

(Sorry for the late reply-- I think a lot of DoAers have moved onto different forums/hobbies/etc??)

    21. That's ok, and thank you for the reply!

I do like dolls with good posing so that's good news for me! :)

    23. Aww! I love the little feet sticking out!
Those are a great scale, those beds, 8" Strombecker?

      • x 1
    24. Thank you :) yes, those are Stombecker for 8" dolls like Betsy Mccall. I love all of the vintage wooden doll furniture.

      Thank you :)

    25. Oh my gosh, Melissa, those beds are so cute!

    26. My much neglected girls have a new dress! Admittedly they have no wigs yet and it's one Dress between two but at least I know that ruruko dresses fit! Almost a year since I got them!
I would love this forum so much more if I could directly drop a photo in from my phone!

    27. I'd love to see, do you have a Flickr?

    28. Yes I'm chocchip. I've not got many photos of my girls up yet though as neither of them have hair!

    29. There's a Pocket Fairy Baked option available for May pre-order dolls! And can't afford one...:( Maybe next time.

    30. I just saw this too! Thankfully there are no heads that I want in this months line-up. I wonder if they will continue to do the baked skinned option with the rest of the years monthly availability...
you know the *one* I really wanted that they have yet to release is the closed eyed Minimay sugar in beauty white skin with the angel wing attachment...I've messaged them few months ago and they told me a little while yet to be patient...

    31. Does any one have pictures of a Choco on a Sugar body? Am thinking of maybe, just maybe, treating myself. I have wanted a PF for a while and the Sugar body is just as appealing to me size wise as the smaller body....

    32. I was patiently waiting for Yoko to come up this month but hadn't expected a baked option. I want a NS yoko so now I'm in a bit of a quandary. Melissa do you have Yoko or choco in baked skin?

I'm slightly confused by the prices though as the baked skin dolls on the first page are cheaper than the PF on their category page. I hope it's not a case of adding the two prices together!

    33. I've never seen this doll before, do you have a photo of her or is she in the history on their website somewhere?

    34. I only have Yoko in natural skin, no Choco at all.

you're right about the price difference
I checked too and the price is $7 more on each mould page weird.

    35. Thanks for the links Melissa. The angel is very cute - I hope they release an open eyed version too. I might have to get a pvc doll at some point, they are so sweet. Your Yoko is so sweet, I think I will get her in NS rather than baked.

    36. Oh no, your Yoko is so cute!! I've never wanted one until now... :)

Also, I was wondering if anyone's ordered any wigs in 4/5 size for their Pocket Fairies? I'm specifically looking at Monique boy-style wigs, and was wondering... how oversized is a 4/5 wig going to be on a PF head that's like 4.1" around? Blue Fairy's shorter style wigs are so few and lacking in color options. :\ Thanks!

EDIT: OR!! Has anyone tried to jam a 3" wig (the Milky Fairy wigs) onto a Pocket Fairy head?? How big will it stretch/does it fit??

    37. I've ordered some wigs in that size from etsy but they haven't arrived yet. I'm also going to order some from Monique this week. Not much help, sorry.

I've ordered a baked Choco sugar fairy today . Still can't understand why baked is $180 but normal skin is $257. Little Yoko will have to wait until her next release period which I think is August.

    38. @smudge Congrats on your future Choco! The baked skin is really lovely!
About your question, the normal skin price is the full-set price which include the wig, face-up, eyes, clothes and shoes. If you take out those options, the doll is only 144$ plus the shipping fee.

    39. @Nemeith thank you! I hadn't noticed that the price went down if you took items out. I'm so used to it going up if you added things in that I assumed the price was the base price before you added everything to it. I should have looked more closely

    40. Ahhh, I'm really excited that "Baked" seems to be added to the lineup of standard options!! My bank account is weeping, but hey!

@smudge, oh I didn't even think to look at Etsy for teeny tiny wigs, what a good idea. (And I know it's going to be months, but I can't wait to see your baked Choco. What a cute sculpt!!)

    41. buy any size other than 4 at your own risk! I have 3.5 that pop off and 4.5 that look way too big. All of mine are BF 4, I have a few Monique Gold 4 but prefer the fit and the look of the BF 4, the Monique brand seems like it needs to be cut or trimmed, or thinned out to look right ^--^

Here are some of the ones I have, (pressing their heads together in the circle is keeping them on) this is before trimming or thinning. I don't use any of these, I just don't like the way they fit or look

    42. @midolls*melissa thanks for the info!! I guess I'll just be happy with Blue Fairy's own PF wigs. Aaaah, if they would just make all the wigs available in all their colors!!

ALSO: oh my gosh, I always love seeing your crew!! ;A; they're sooooo cute!!!

    43. I really like cancan wigs for the pf. They are a great fit!

    44. Thanks so much!

I wish they would make one in black, I just really want a true black wig for my PF's but if I'm wishing I'd want some super soft fantasy colors as well ^--^

I will have to check them out ^--^

    45. @Peppermintsheep I can't post photos from my phone (does anyone know how to?) but if you look on Flickr (I'm chocchip) I've posted photos of the two wigs I got from evali905 on etsy. The bob has a high fringe which doesn't really work for me but the wig does fit.

    46. I can post pictures from photobucket with my Samsung S7. I haven't figured out how to do it from flickr.

    47. Congrats, he's a cutie moody puss!

    48. He is adorable SugarFirefly!

    49. so cute this little boy ^--^

    50. I was wondering if anyone has ordered the new snow white skin that Blue fairy is offering? I'd love to see a comparison with the beauty white skin.
