Blue Fairies of Bluefairy - Bluefairy SD sized dolls Discussion

This may be a long shot, but does anyone have a Volks SD head and a Blue Fairy body? Could you maybe put them together for me? I'm curious to see the proportions and colors

 

bronzephoenix - I never put Volks head on BF body since there's no way the resin color will match, unless BF misty rose skin. Here is Volks Lorina (NS) and BF Alice (NS).

Now that there's a new boy(???!?!?) in the BF lineup, I'm wondering why Lunar and Daniel haven't been released as Choice or Special??

Although it is SO not in the budget right now, does anyone have a pic of a Blue Fairy size and a Tiny Fairy size standing next to each other??? And where do you find clothes for these kids??

 

peppermintsheep Lunar has been released as special on preorder, she will be available again soon. Daniel is the new boy as far as I know so they are releasing him as special but he'll be preorder only first.

 

Oh, that "new" one is Daniel?? Yikes, I'm such a dumb daisy that as soon as they have new eyes/hair, I don't recognize them!! ^^;; When Lunar and Daniel move into "Choice", I wonder if they'd allow the kind of body switching that they do for the others-- Daniel might make a cute girl!!

 

Lots happening on the Bluefairy front! Special/Choice Daniel and Lunar are now available as well as blank/make up heads and boy body in option parts, then we've got the sweet winter limiteds! Diana looks amazing and so sweet, but there's a new sculpt! Sweet winter Henry! He looks adorable, I wish he was Tinyfairy size!

 

Jumping in here so I can torture myself with cuteness. I keep flip flopping on if Luna or Alice needs to come home or not. >_< I really need more girls in my family as I love to sew them frilly dresses of doom. Danial looks like he has lots of potential for different looks too, such a difficult decision. (Like I need yet another boy though, sheesh.) Visiting the website gets lots of "awe!" from me though. :3 (Crossing fingers maybe they'll come out for Dollism Plus because I'd love to see one in person.)

Hello MacaronTea! This thread had been so quiet, I for one would love to see more owner photos! (Especially of Lunar, there are so few!)
Alice and Lunar are both adorable sculpts, but I've liked all 4 of the sculpts they've released so far! I find it helps to look at the blank heads, I spent a long while considering buying one of these dolls but couldn't decide which, looking at the blank heads made me realise Alice is my favourite but since I have no 60cm dolls I haven't found the courage to buy her, besides, all my dolls are in WS so I would want her to be too. I really hope you get one, they're so sweet!

I would like to share my Lunar and ask some question about the BlueFairy Body~~

This is my girl~~
She is in normal skin and having the basic official MakeUp but I have change her eyes to other 20mm eyes.
( However I still not feel satisfied with her eyes... Hope in next year DP, I can find her some eyes shit her.


I found that it is hard for her to turn her head up and down.
Should I use sand paper to scrub her neck in order to make her neck slimmer so she can turn her head easily?

 

I know it's been years since this thread has been active, but here's some news! Blue Fairy is discontinuing its current Blue Fairy sized dolls, but they are renewing them and will rerelease them at some point in the future. The order period is March 5 to March 9, 2018.

Oh, that IS exciting -- I waffled for too long because I couldn't decide between Alice and Lunar, so of course I missed out on both of them. I can't wait to see whether the earlier heads will be back, or new ones, or both . . .

Whoa!! On Instagram, Blue Fairy announced their “Monthly Special” for June is going to be Blue Fairy Miley!

 

Ahhh, I'm so glad to see a Bluefairy size doll, but Miley is literally the only one I have already They do seem to have redone the BF body; it's a "BF neo" body with double joints.

Hopefully we'll continue to see more sculpts over time!

 

How easy is it to shop for this size? I don't know anything about SD size, and frankly, the SD/SD10/SD13 sizing kind of freaks me out a little...

(There's a Diana on Mandarake if you're interested....

 

Bluefairies are easy to dress. Basically SD10/13 stuff is fine. I'd say they are a bit slimmer than a Volks SD10, so if you want something form-fitting, you might have trouble. But most stuff will work, and dresses are easy. You can see what my Miley wears on Insta.

I'm interested in Alice But I haven't decided, I might want to just spoil my Miley XD

Maybe if a lot of people order Miley this month, Blue Fairy will put Alice out soon! And I did see the Neo Girl measurements on the website, but they failed to mention head size and eye size. I assume it’s an 18mm eye? Blue Fairy usually puts in a size just one size too big for my liking.

I’m so excited about BF Miley, I don’t know how I’ll wait until September when they start shipping for June orders!

It's been a while since this thread has been active and now I can actively participate because I just ordered a Miley
I was going to wait until next year, but with the changes announced by BlueFairy, I thought that it will be more difficult to get in the future.
The only owner photos I've seen are from bronzephoenix, but I'd love to see more if anyone knows where I can find them.

Please show your dolls! I'd love to see the big Mays and Olives, or any other BlueFairy

 

hey all! did anyone order a blue fairy in the last order event? i'm finally getting my baked diana and i'm soooo excited!!!
does anyone have any baked dolls in the BF size? all the ones i've ever seen are tiny fairies or pocket fairies (and some shiny fairies here and there). she also gonna be the first doll from bluefairy that i'm gonna give a fully custom faceup so i'm really excited and nervous for her to come blank...!
i'm also curious if anyone know the best eye size for blue fairies, especially diana?

 

Bluefairy Alice Valentine, I am crying. I've always loved Alice, but I'm wary of the 1/3 Bluefairy eyewell issues/scaling up issues. My May Valentine came out a lot more manageable than my open eyed Miley, so now I'm swooning, lol! What to do!

@mangameow i think the eye well issue is that the wells are not deep/round enough for the eyes to sit forward. So the eyes end up being weirdly deep in the head? if you have any dolls with smaller eye openings, you might already understand the problem— from certain angles, it looks like their eye sockets are empty

 

Essentially, BF doesn't "scale up" their 1/4 sculpts into 1/3 well. The faces get sort of... stretched in the upsizing process. The eye wells end up sort of... at an angle and too deep. I have a blog post about it here.

Note how 1/3 Mays' eyes are further from her nose compared to 1/4, and her eye feels almost... like, sideways?? At a different angle?

Here is a picture of my Miley, who is basically 1/3 Sarang, next to my 1/4 Sarang:


I carved resin out of Miley's eyewells so that these eyes could even go in, and there is STILL a gap. AND those are extremely high dome eyes that I specifically sought out and purchased for her, knowing that was my only hope to get some eyeballs in those wells! That's a lot of hoops to jump through and still have an eyegap.

There's a very real reason the dreaming 1/3 sculpts look better than the fully OE ones, in general. It has to do with the distortion of the eyes when the sculpt is sized up.

I still love both my 1/3 Miley and May V, however!

She's gorgeous!! I will be receiving my Miley any day now, so excited!!

 

I'm seriously considering ordering Olive when her next order period opens up - but I would love to see owner pics, would anyone have received theirs yet?

And a request please : does anyone have one of these SD girls next to other dolls? I have a big headed Volks girl and am hoping Olive would make a good companion for her. I also have several 8-9 head sized SDs too so would be good to gauge how the will compare ^^

 

@bronzephoenix (sorry for the extremely late reply LOL) thank you for all that information! very good info there, very interesting. i wonder if they use 3d scanning to upscale their dolls? i've heard that that can create proportion issues if the actual facial features aren't modified a little bit. it doesn't bother me much in the end, i suppose i could always find someone to mod her eyewells and send her to get custom shaped eyes if push comes to shove..?

@melodian-calling i have a few other SD girls i could put my new girl next to! i've got an f60, a dollchateau SD, a doll love head on a sd10 girl body, an april story junior girl, and two volks boys (well three if you count heads) that i can throw up next to each other but i'll have to find the energy to haul everybody out and i'm very tired so it won't be today LOL
i think they'd make a good match for friends, especially depending on the volks sculpt, one of the first things i thought when i pulled my new girl out of her box today was "oh jesus she's as heavy as a volks doll!" LOL. their newer bodies are a tiny bit more slender than their older ones i think, but if covered in clothes i think it's negligible.

New Blue Fairy! New Blue Fairy!! Here’s Blue Fairy Trudy!

 

It feels like ages ago since the last new Blue Fairy release. They've been neglecting them since switching their schedule. But I guess Tiny Fairys are just more popular.

Anyway I am very exited to see them give sone attentuon to their big girls. And I looooove that outfit .

 

I love the outfit, but the price, jeez! If i buy the Blue Fairy outfit, amd the Tiny Fairy outfit to match, that's nearly $400!

 

I saw the announcement and I was thinking of getting the outfit for my Miley; now that you comment on the price, I went to the BlueFairy site and I'm shocked!!! I don't think I can justify that much money for just an outfit :/

 

The Dear Belle company (they started out with a few sculpts on Blue Fairy before they got their own website) charges different amounts of money for the same dolls on different versions of their website— on the Korean site, the dolls are high $300s, like you’d expect. On the English site, those dolls are nearly $500. They’re MSD and Yo-SD sized. I can’t explain the discrepancy, but I definitely haven’t ordered anything from them, even though I’m interested in a few sculpts.

 

I ordered a Bluefairy Olive in the preorder. I hope she gets here fast! She'll be my first large bf girl

I am also tempted by Olive as I've actually been waiting for her. But my funds are still tied by the Volks lottery so I will most likely miss out (again) because my funds might not get released back in time.

Last Feb I ordered a TF Celine and got her in May so I'm hopeful Olive will get here quickly.
