My Kaorin is finally close to being done. I still want to find a proper wig for her, but for now, she wears one I've made

@TatterPunk, thanks so much for posting the Aishat pics! Her blank sculpt is incredibly difficult to find, (especially since the Brave version is new?) and this is super helpful. I ordered mine in September, so I'm hoping to see her soon!

kaorin is a pretty tiny head. I can try it out for you and get pics, but my instincts say a that she’s likely to be pinheaded

I recently fell in love with the Kaorin sculpt and was thinking of going with Dollstown like everyone else. How close is the resin match?

 

I am curious for some definitive information on this as well. On the website it says the head is 17.5cm which puts it at ~6.9 inches, so 6-7 should work. I unfortunately don't know enough about MSD sizes to know if just searching for MSD sized wigs would be sufficient.

I placed an order for a Xiao Yu head about a month ago, and it was supposedly in New York / JFK as of last week, but haven't seen any movement since. The tracking hasn't registered for USPS yet though, so I'm not sure if it did make it to the States yet.

I too want to know how well the resin matches as well. I went ahead and ordered the Dollstown body in Fresh for my Xiao Yu head. I believe Harucasting does BCD's casting, I wonder if there are any owner pictures around. Also, I recall reading that Dollshe (who casts Dollstown based on what I've found others have mentioned) has changed their resin colors a bit... so that might be another variable to consider if you order a newer body.

Information is always changing in this hobby! Hopefully in the next few months I can share some pictures!

 

In terms of Dollshe and Black Cherry, I can say that at one point I owned some of their Aishat heads in Normal skin and they were a very close match to Dollshe Fresh (maybe even perfect, but it was some time ago that I had a Dollshe body so I don't remember exactly).

It is true that Dollshe has changed some of their colors - I think Fresh/Oriental/etc. are pinker now than they used to be, so that might be a problem. I believe I saw comparisons between the new and old colors somewhere, but I can't find them now (I'm sorry!).

Edited to add: I found this link (related to 5th Motif) that seems to show some hands in the new/old colors.

If Fresh skin is also pinker like Oriental, it might be a bit pink for Black Cherry "Normal," which is a beautiful natural pale "pink" skin color. But if it isn't darker than the previous versions, perhaps blushing or some natural yellowing would help the colors match.

 

I can attest to the statement @StellaMarigold made. The Aishat heads - those particular ones- in normal work very well on the older Dollshe Fresh I have. That's what I have miss Charlie on. . she is in fact the exact heads mentioned. Dollshe Fresh though has definitely changed a couple times. I have some older that looks a little pink, some that looks more of a cream color, and the newest one (from early this year) which is a bit more like the older pinkish again. I feel like it must just change from batch to batch >__>.

 

Ha, yes! @TatterPunk has the heads I once owned (and I can't remember if I said it before, but they look absolutely lovely with their new faceups!).

That's unfortunate about the batches changing! I guess it is quite natural, but it sure makes hybriding difficult.

 

Jumping in to say I have a Xiao Yu head on a Dollmore Zaoll body, and her head is teeny. She can wear a 6/7 wig; a 7/8 is a bit big.

I'm wondering, does anyone have a picture of Xiaoyu and Ichigo together? It seems they wear the same wig size (6-7) but I always got the impression Xiaoyu had a smaller face than Ichigo!

 

On Instagram, a user has two comparative photos where they are next to each other, offset a bit. [Photo 1, Photo 2] Their faces look similarly sized to me. For me, Xiao Yu reads younger which is partly why I'm trying to see if I can put her on the Dollstown 7yr body. It might not work, but I wanted her to be more a child than a teenager in my collection.

 

I wonder if anybody has a reference pic of an Ichigo head on a Fantasia doll body?

My Xiao Yu arrived two days ago after a little under 7 weeks in transit from Russia to the US. Not too shabby. I’ve secured her faceup slot with an artist in June. I hope her body arrives from Dollstown by August. She’s on my MYOU big baby body for now. Here she is with her parents. Sorry for the poor lighting.

 

I have a Xiou Yu head coming. Any suggestions for a body? I want her to be more Young Adult/Teenager than child-like.

 

I feel like when I was researching my options, most people have Xiao Yu on the Dollstown Elf body [official Flickr] (~52.5cm) which is the body that the sculptor had in mind when creating the head. When I look for #dollstownelf on Instagram, there are a lot of Xiao Yu heads as well to give you an idea. I've heard other options are the Dollmore Zaoll body (~52cm) or Fairyland 60cm lines [Fairyline or Feeple60] (~54cm). Hope that gets you started!

Ooh! I haven't looked into this doll company before, but it looks like a lovely mature body. Xiao Yu's neck hole is listed as 7.8cm, but the head fits not terribly on the MYOU BB body which is 9cm unmodified. I assume the ALM neck circumference at 8.1cm will be perfectly fine. Do share when you can!

I just sent my little one out for her faceup and hope she'll be back in July. I will post her belated unboxing video on my YouTube channel this weekend in case anyone is interested in watching.

 

My Xiao Yu Moon has just arrived - spending only 10 days in transit! She is so beautiful and precious.
For now, I've hybrided her with my ancient Domuya Flexibody. Actually, the proportions are quite nice as this body is rather petite compared to modern, more mature bodies.

I believe there are quite a few great hybriding possibilities for Xiao Yu. I am looking for a not overly feminine body with a very small bust in particular, but I don't like the DT Elf body so much. Any ideas would be appreciated.

 

I have my Xiao Yu on a DollLeaves body and she's quite the tall, lanky young adult with it.

The Xaga 54 cm and Huajing 56 cm bodies might also be an option, but I couldn't find many owner pics. I also find it quite hard to judge from photos only. Especially the Xaga company pics don't tell anything about the posing abilities of the body …

 

Has anyone found a body for the Inchigo doll head? I tried her on my Dollstown SD13 body and it was way too big!

Dollmore Zaoll body works well for Ichigo too. It's petite enough. There are hybrids of that type on Insta, that's what made me put mine on that body.

Here is my XiaoYu on an ALM body. She stands about 55CM tall. Overall I am very happy. She doesn't have a lot of range of motion in the neck tho.

I've also found an unexpected match for my Xiao Yu. My friend let me try her Obitsu 50 cm body, and I found it quite perfect for a smaller, more childlike character. I ordered the Obitsu body right away and it has just arrived. Xiao Yu stands about 52 cm tall (without hair fluff) and my Lil (Switch Hahwa on modded Mirodoll girl body) is about 57 cm. I think it's a good body choice if you want a younger friend for your SDs. (And I'm totally blown away by the posability of the Obitsu body.)

Hey guys! Thought I'd drop by and share my hybrid: Black Cherry Ichigo on Fantasia M Body.



Neck is a perfect fit but a bit long. Other than that, it works well. She has a more realistic look.

WARNING! I Bought this body second hand and the original owner asked me to warn everybody. It looks like ordering from the company has been an ordeal. Also you should know that the arms are crap at posing.

 

The obitsu 50 cm body is such a good hybrid idea. The body has the more childish aesthetic I was looking for and the skin tones match fairly well. It seems to pose really well. I was disappointed to know that the dollstown elf body was a single torso.

 

Just got my Ichigo in today and I love her! She makes all of the dolls I have out at the moment look like they have huge heads!

it’s been helpful seeing y’all post your hybrids here. I was thinking of putting mine on a Dollfie Dream Sister body as the resin of her head seems like a good match compared to my other DD hybrid. I’ll have to check the neck compatibility later.

 

I just got an Ichigo head in the fairy skin. I was wondering if anyone else has a Black Cherry Dolls head in fairy skin on a body apart from the feeple ones? I don't know if the resin is a good match for other bodies.

 

I know it's pretty close to supia. Supia is a tiny bit more yellow-tone, but with clothes and wigs I barely notice it.

 

fairy skin IIRC matches pretty well with dollfie dreams semi-white, if you want an unconventional hybrid!

I was wondering whether Xao Yu head will fit Dollstown 7yr body. They have same Neck diameter 25 mm/ Neck girth 77 m.
Anyone had any hybrids like that?

 

This is what I am planning on doing. I’m hoping the 7yr body will make it home in the next few weeks. Dollstown says they have my bodies and will be shipping next week. So if no one shares before then, I will post photos once I have the body in hand.
