    8. Hi everyone,
I'm so glad you guys had a great time and learned from our wonderful instructor artists. They were all very nervous and each one made a presentation for the very first time this past weekend. I hope you'll agree, they were all incredibly poised and professional. I was so proud of them :D, and of course their artistry was just breathtaking.

The first Workshop-Retreat is now officially over.. I dropped Twigling off at the airport late this afternoon, so she's on her way home now. I miss her already. We passed our last evening together in the shop, eating Chinese food while sanding and modding the TwigLimbs body I bought from her a few months ago, but never had time to finish off. The hour before she left, we finally got her done. My CH St. Mina has a killer new body now, and I can't look at this doll without brushing away a tear thinking of Therese. Travel safely, my friend.

I miss all you guys.... you have to come back! I'd like to have another event like this next October, and we'll definitely do casting and molding.. plus whatever else you'd like to learn. I've also had votes for a round table discussion. I hope you can add ideas on this thread on how to make the event better, and what topics you'd like to see. I'm also trying to figure out how to be able to bring in more students this time... without sacrificing the intimacy.

From my family, staff, volunteers, and all the dollies in the store.. thank you so much for being a part of this first event.
      Catrina

    10. The Retreat was incredible! It was really wonderful to meet everyone and see their work in person. The Teachers all did an excellent job as did Catrina organizing the event.

I look forward to the next one :-)

    11. I think Denny and the girls are the unsung heroes of this event!

    12. Yeah, me too.
I want some more waffles :)

    13. Is there any set date or anything for the next one? I would have killed to have gone. ;( All of my favorite doll artists were there (won't name names!) and it really, really sucks that I wasn't able to go!

If there is any information, please! Let me know where it is!
      Arigato Gozaimasu!

    14. I agree. It was a wonderful weekend and I learned so much! Although it was tiring, it was well worth it. I loved meeting such a variety of people all bound together with the same hobby. We certainly all came from different walks of life. The talent was incredible and I am honoured to have been inlcuded.

    15. I would a doll workshop series where it starts at stage 1 say 3 day event and then series 2, 3 , 4 etc... till the end of the doll creation - end of doll casting etc... and then people can jump in where they want or do the whole thing so they can make a complete doll !!!

      Thats my dream course.

Catrina your shop looks SO warm and inviting!! and looks like a fairytale setting.

    16. Will there be one in 2008?

And one more question, how do we join this association? Is there any membership for this?

Dollyholic, you mentioned above that you wanted to invite more members without reducing the intamacy of the event, I understand that with my local anime convention growing quickly out of intimate con status. It's a sad thing to watch happen, but at the same time, you have the satisfaction of knowing that people love your event.

One way to reduce a huge overflow of members wanting to go and a way of securing funds for the future would be to acctually officially start an association with required membership to attend. This would ensure that you have people who are serious about the subject and creation of BJDs, and it woudl also create a database of people whith knowlegde and skills in the area. In the mean time, with the formation of an official society, the members can then get together an offer more training courses, as the membership fee would go towards these events as seed money to facilitate the event bookings.

      I know I wouldn't hesitate to pay a small or modest membership fee for an association. A large fee for a young association would be a little much to ask, and plus you would want to encourage association membership; unlike the associations int he event industry with individual memberships ranging from 200$+ per person for 1 year. >>;
