Batchix Mini Machina 29cm Discussion Part 1

I've wanted one of those for so long, I'm jealous! XD (no but seriously I'm so happy for you, Alpha is so cool!)

I saw her photo on Tumblr and she's seriously one of the cutest deltas I've seen! I love her wig and eyes too!

Also, SHIPPING NOTICE GET! So excited! Even though I haven't even started the wigs or bought eyes or paint... aaaaah D:
I'm also going to repaint Juz as she's a little grubby and I want to use the UV paint so she matches her new sisters.

 

My Delta's also on the way.

 

I think my blip is at the post office... It's the only thing I can think that would come from California... I haven't ordered anything that matches my tracking. Fingers crossed... Tomorrow is going to be a long day

 

I picked up my Blip at the post office this morning and now I have to sit the entire day at work, just looking at the box...

 

I got my heads yesterday. They are really cute!

 

Hmm, I know that some are arriving but I did not get a shipping notice - did everyone who's received theirs get shipping notices? Don't want to be too optimistic and take a trip to the PO if I don't have to ^_^

 

I didn't get notice, I figured it was because I only got heads. I also did not get the extra magnets that were mentioned.

 

I got blip and never got a shipping notice. No biggie... If I had known I would have made plans to be home at the attempted delivery

 

I got a shipping notice but only one of my two dolls has shown movement on the tracking page. I think USPS is just treating it as one package? Anyway, I'm expecting my girls to arrive on Friday (though tomorrow would be nice too!)

 

As I live in Norway it will take some more time for me to get my doll, but I did get a tracking number at least. I'll get my Delta sooner or later I hope

 

just a quick shot of Jocasta (eta) and Polygon (blip) together. Polygon needs to be painted... but that will happen over the weekend.

 

Oh, gosh, your two are adorable! I'm crossing my fingers the next release of Blip is in a cool tone, since I passed up this one to wait for a different color, and now you're making me want her even more!

 

I just got my Batchix Mini Machina Eta who I've named Stella a few days ago. I finally had sometime to take a photo of her.

Yeah, I got my shipping notice too. I'm not quite sure when my Blip will arrive. At least one extra day away since I'm in the sticks Last update is in Richmond on the other side of the country. Arg. Friday would be nice, but I'm not holding my breath. I just pray I don't get slammed by Canada Customs. x__x

I have my glowing eyes, helmet and black elastic all ready and waiting for her! I'm surprised how pouty un-facedupped Blip looks. ... Though Eta still has the Mini Machi Market cornered on pouts. Still, that might actually work better for the character that's developing in my head. Have not yet thought up a name, I feel bad. .__.

 

Haha, I'm so unprepared for my girls- still need to order eyes and paint and start on their wigs (they look the same as Juz's, just with different colours and styles. Still, I can't stand the thought of leaving them blank so I might do a temporary paintjob in the meantime.

I'm hoping to get them on Friday as I have a day off, but that won't stop me camping on the tracking page! >_<

 

I don't like not having tracking, but I have to go to the PO today to pick up another doll anyway so fingers crossed for Blip!

eta: Yay, she's here! It's kind of funy - last year I picked up my batchix delta from her previous owner at Gencon, and this year I picked up my Blip from the post office (which is right next to the convention center) the day before Gencon starts.

 

Aagh, I got a letter from the post saying my Delta is at customs and they needed to see my receipt of the payment before I could get her delivered to my post office. So close, yet so far away... I hope I get her tomorrow or monday, although the customs fees will be really painful, ugh.

 

BeastVoodoo: I do not envy your customs fees :< BJDs are expensive enough without added customs fees. I pray my own aren't too bad : /


She's in Mississauga now, which means she SHOULD be here around Tuesday or Wednesday. The wait is killing me!

Hopefully I'll have time on monday or tuesday. ^^

I got my Delta today. Wow, she's sturdy and quite heavy for her weight! I totally didn't expect that. ^^

I'm currently working on painting a friend's white Delta. This is C2, a defective companion cube! Her eyes are 12mm from Alice's Collections.

Thanks! I wish I could take credit, but it was her idea from day one of seeing this doll. I've had her for quite some time and I'm just now getting her finished and ready to send home. I wanted her to be perfect for my friend and this is the first doll I've ever painted, so it took a while to get it just right

My delta arrived yesterday, I've got no idea when I'm going to be able to get her a faceup though.
Has anyone else noticed that these guys are incredibly good at hanging upside down?

Edit: Holy cow, these girls are quite heavy for their size! But it's a nice weight, they feel really solid.

I recently received my girl, and before I start painting my Delta (her name is Nanno btw) I was just wondering what you guys use to paint their bodies. I'm a little terrified, but I don't want to leave her body blank forever so any suggestions would be most appreciated!

Dopey me, I misunderstood the layaway. I thought that you paid the deposit and then waited for a final invoice when she was finished casting.

Oh well, I've paid the money now so she will be packaged up and sent now.

 

@Zoffie: I use pastels mostly. You can also use acrylics or watercolour pencils, just make sure you coat your doll well beforehand.
If you're unsure what to use, you can always look into the customizing forums. ^^

 

I use pastels usually, sometimes acrylic in an airbrush, but really you can use pastels just yes, spray to set well, as pastels won't set themselves.
I have also used glitter, acrylic and various mediums on my Batchix robutts...

I got brave today. I took varying kinds of sandpaper, needle files and sanding sponges to my Blip's face. I changed her nose a little, might do a little more, but the far more noticeable change is her lower lip. It's much more defined now. I may go back and even it out a little more, but I'm pretty happy with how it turned out.

Also- might name her Siren... which will be a horrible pun, since she'll be an 'Enforcer' (the Cybertronian equivalent to police). She likes to sing and perch in high places to watch over everyone.

Thanks ^^ More of her personality is coming out as time goes by. She's super sweet, if a little mischievous. Still, she's always out to do the right thing. For sure she'd be an Autobot. I've got a complicated head-canon going on for enforcers on Cybertron, but I won't bore you guys with it

Here's a question for those of you that have had your Mini Machina girls for longer- have you had any luck getting her 'feet' to move more at all? Is it the tight stringing keeping them from moving, or is it just the lock...? Seems like I should be able to move the 'toe' part up if it was just the lock. I'd love to put Siren in some more complicated poses, but having her feet locked in one position is making that tricky!

 

The little toe part is very TIGHT. Still is on my girl. You really gotta grab it from underneath and pull it out to adjust. It's not something easy to move while she's standing. I don't mind, I like my dolls tightly strung, but maybe you'd find it easier if she was not as tightly strung.

I like your adjustment to your girls lower lip. Looks good.

Hmm, I wonder if putting some Kips in would help or make it worse... I'm going to have to experiment with things until I get some more movement.

Laoky: haha, if you insist. It's all pretty complicated. I used the term 'Enforcer' as I didn't feel 'Police' was right for an alien world. However, they serve pretty much the same purpose. Serve and Protect the citizens, try to peacefully diffuse any negative situation. Each city had their own Enforcer designs, and several station towers. I figured out what each station would need, what sort of standard equipment every Enforcer would get, how Enforcers would be made of sturdier materials since they were made to protect the citizens and keep peace, etc. They have shock batons designed to harmlessly incapacitate dangerous bots (waaaaaay less dangerous than tasers are to humans). I'll have to make Siren a pair.

Anyway, that's the jist of it. Little Siren will be partially dyed black, coated with a layer of Semi-Gloss MSC. A couple spots on her will be blue. I'm hoping to make the colour as hard-wearing as possible! I may do a few more minor mods to her to make her more 'Cybertronian' looking.

Since I can't double post, I'll tack this on here. I've been looking at telescoping antennas to make her shock batons from, but I'm running into a problem. I can't find anything short enough. I cannibalized an old antenna we had laying around, to figure out just how they worked. Sadly, shortening them is going to be tricky. At least I know how they work now, I just wish my DiY metal skills were a bit better. :< Basically, I'll have to neatly cut them in two places, without crushing the tubes, then drill some tiny holes into the new ends... also without crushing the tubes. Wish me luck.

 

I'm having some issues finding eyes I like for my Blip... Everything I've tried just makes her look very dazed. She's definitely taking a while to really speak to me.

I am so in love with these girls! I am arranging a trade for a hybrid atm and plan to get a white Delta also sometime in the future. My guy and I are going to make them up like MegaMan X and Zero. The first one I saw was blue (an Eta) and I immediately wanted to make a female MegaMan. Now I have my boyfriend into it too because he is a huge MegaMan fan! Finally hooked him on dollies
It's so cool to see what everyone has done with theirs!

 

I can't wait to get mine. I just hope i can do something original and not end up making a Bubble Gum Crisis suit

Well it will probably be easier once she is home with you I'm sure you will come up with something awesome, they are the cutest little blank slates! I totally share your excitement! I still have to work on my half of the trade so my sweet little X is a while off and Zero even longer because I will have to save her design will be harder though and I will need to modd her so it's for the best I geuss. More plotting time.
I have never seen bubblegum crisis, I will have to check it out!

 

This is a rather odd question but how wide are these girls across at their widest point? I want to make a stasis pod for X (and eventually Zero) and am wondering if a 4" diameter acrylic pipe would do the trick.

 

I just checked and the "widest point" on my Delta is around her hips when she has her arms to the sides. A 4" pipe could work, but it is cutting it a little close at about a quarter inch, though if you move the arms, it should work perfectly. Not sure how you want her positioned in her stasis pod. :P

Thank you! She was painted by maiya earlier this year and she did such a fantastic job. I was also very happy to find the wig, it's very close to what the character wears in the comic at one point. 8]

I'm starting to think half round pods with a flat back is the way to go. Easier to control the size and the materials are more readily available and less expensive.

 

Gah, I was so worried I'd killed this thread totally T∆T I'm so bad about rambling on needlessly when I'm super into something... like bots .__.

Sadly, I haven't gotten any work done on Siren, health issues have kept me from doing pretty much any of the things I've wanted to do. :<
I'm pondering doing some more mods to her though, to make her look more... transformers-ish? Like shoulder armor, maybe some plates on her body... I have to do some serious sketching. I think I'm getting better at designing bots.
Just got a new stand for her, can't wait for it so I can display her better.

PrincessR: A BBC hardsuit would still be cool! Maybe you could take some inspiration from the series? (I am super jelly of your Feilene btw, haha)

They're terrible. I do that sometimes so I can focus on designing rather than worrying about proportions and such. Still not entirely sure what I want do with that crest on her helmet. Maybe keep it black instead of red. I'll do better pictures once I'm more firm on her design.

I'm very proud of her design, and I'd like to make Siren's more complex like that, but without taking away from her mini-machina-ness. Or posability. Tricky! I'm almost tempted to turn Siren into a version of Miranda, since I love her character so much.

You are in good company, I know many awesome transformers nerds! Ha ha your sketch is not that bad. It's more important to get the idea down anyway. I am excited to see what you do with her! When I get around to doing Zero I will have lots of plates and bits to add too. When I get home maybe I will share my hasty sketches as well!

I think the name MegaMaiden X would suit more because she's all blue like MegaMan.

On a side note I still haven't done anything with my Blip yet, I think if I find a suitable wig it may help with ideas.
