Batchix Mini Machina 29cm Discussion Part 1

Feb 3, 2013

    1. The mod's decided these wee robot gals are on-topic so I'm starting a discussion thread!

      Link to Batchix's website: http://batchix.g36.net/

Eta and Delta are human/robot girls with curvy attitudes designed by Batchix. They were originally released in Teal and White back in August. The current preorder is for White or Blue.

Here are the spec's per the website:
      - Height: 29cm
      - Head: 5.5 inches
      - Eyes: 14mm

I love the design of these dolls. But I can foresee some interesting accessorizing issues arising from such a unique robot/human hybrid body. I've seen a few gallery threads around the forums, and invite anyone who has one of these dolls to join the discussion and share your experience with these dolls.

Personally, I waited too long on the first pre-order, and they sold out. But then I was glad I did - I love the blue resin! I ordered a Mini Machina Delta today in Blue Resin and did a quick draft of a potential color scheme/styling.

I probably will switch the eye and hair color - make the eyes the most vibrant part. I'm so excited!

    2. I'm so glad that the mini-Machina are now on-topic so we can gush about how gorgeous these girls are. I managed to get white Delta, and I'm absolutely in love with her. The joint engineering is remarkable, posing her is a delight. I'm also excited that Batchix has opened another pre-order -- the BJD world needs more adorable robotgirls!

@skyealloway: Here is Delta's profile and 3/4 view:

      Full body profile.
      I love how she sits!
More examples of her posing here and here

ETA: In case anyone was wondering, she is wearing 14mm eyes.

    3. Oh, I'm so glad to see the mods decided they were on-topic!

I have a Delta in teal. Her name is Squeak. I'm still trying to decide on colors and everything, though at one point I was leaning towards hot pink, but the eyes I had were the wrong size :(. But she's just so freaking adorable. One of my friends also got an Eta in teal. We're having a meet next week, so I'm hoping to get pictures of them together.

    4. Oh wow the blue lines really seem to glow! Did you use glitter? she seems sparkly

    5. I used a pearl white as a base. I really was not expecting that much shimmer but I am very pleased with it.

    6. It's not he best picture, but here are my Delta (named Lizzy) and Eta (Paula).

They are so much fun to pose.

If I had known there would be a blue version available, I would have waited and got one in stead of these too. My Machina Alpha is blue too, so they would have looked great together. Now I have to make due with these two girls (Oh, the horror ;) ).

    7. Awww, look at them so cute. Did you have a hard time restringing them? I could not for the life of me get my girls hands back on to her original string. It was almost like it was to short.

    8. They were strung really tight, but I took them apart and restrung them the day they arrived. I was a bit worried that the tension would damage the dolls, but the elastic loosened up after a few days.

    9. There were some getting used to before I could get them to make complicated poses, but they do pose well. There are some things they can't do well and other things that they do very well. They are quite sturdy so the pose in the picture above was very stable.

I've made a video a while ago about about the two that I have. It shows some of the poses I can make them do.

    10. Ah! I hadn't realized these little ones were on topic now. How nice. I have an Eta.
She is a grumpy little tea bot named Babel. ^_^

    11. EEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!! I didnt know these girls are on topic! Here's my teal (which is more mint green to me) Delta, Mac:

    12. A big group photo would be so much fun! ^__^
Otomo looks really cute in that wig.

      Congrats, Bailey. ^_^

Here is another picture of Babel. I really need to paint her! ^.^"

    13. Okay, so you can't see their faces, my picture taking skills are not that great and all the face shots are terrible, but my Delta Squeak is on the left and my friend's Eta is on the right.

      Also, dollti Tinman :D

    14. Ooh, I LOVE that wig on Otomo! Where did you get it from, and what size is it? :D

    15. I just discovered these too! I ordered a blue Delta and I can't wait!
Hey everyone, what are your plans for your girls? This is the mockup I've done for mine:

    16. Wow so happy to see everyone's lil robots, and to be able to share my girl, Fanny, who I think is the cutest thing ever. Pretty sure she needs a sister.

Stella Maris: sweet girl you have <3 smart to have the wig beneath the helmet

i can not wait to the next batch arrives, and the hopefully following mini bot spam XD

    18. This is just something i did for fun when i purchased my Eta, Elna.... Mac is wondering where her sister is... which actually is still a valid question. LOL

      MacnElnafunny by kittywolf13, on Flickr

Oh and thanks for the comments guys on Mac! :D

    19. I've never had a doll that takes a size 5-6 wig before, and I'm suddenly realizing that size 5-6 is kind of hard to find! Where are ya'll looking for wigs at? I'd really like my girl to have a pony tail hairstyle, but I'm unsure about the color just yet.

    20. Look for wigs which fit Pukifee or Lati Yellow - there are stacks around. A lot of the mohair wig makers will make a wig of the right size.

RubyRedGalleria and Luts both do 5-6 wigs.

    21. Ah! I'd be so excited for a grey or lavender Mini Machina release~! :D :aheartbea
Formydoll has lots of really nice, fun coloured, 5-6inch wigs, and they have a custom/preorder option too! :whee:

    22. Today i was expecting my Cerise Doll Eugene... instead i got my Elna!!! She's super cute and the blue is pretty! <3 im so glad i got her. here she is with Mac her sister from the first preorder!

Got a package today... by kittywolf13, on Flickr

    23. *flails for more robots to land*

The magnets holding my gal's faceplate on popped out like, immediately, so I'm about to carefully glue them back in.

I feel like the 14mm eyes might be a tad on the large side. Can anyone put try 10mm eyes vs 12mm and tell me how they fit/look?

    24. the magnets in mine popped out too... i havent glued them in though. im a little worried about glueing them in wrong. i dont know what size are in my delta... but i think 14's or 16's are in my eta. i like the big eyed look though. their mnf eyes though.

    25. Yeahhhh magnets are scary. One time the magnet I was gluing got too close to a loose magnet, annnndddd they kind of flew at each other and got permanently glued together :doh

I pulled the receipt for the extra eyes I have...turns out they are 14mm. So I'm pretty sure 10mm will be too small, but I'm very curious about how 12mm would look.

    26. Yeah since its the magnet in her chin, ive kind of left it like that for now, it just means her face plate shifts a little and isnt super firm in place. I received another doll this week and her magnet in the same place fell out too. its totally the weather. the resin expands or something, breaks the glues bond and of course their such strong magnets that now their stuck together. I kind of wish folks would put a thin bit of resin (like volks does) between the magnets... but i bet thats tricky to cast so i understand why they dont. Either way i love her and its not a complaint at all. its no ones fault after all. :P I had a pair of eyes that looked really pretty in her face, but they were too big!! *sad face*

    27. Here's my Hot Magnet Tip, so you don't accidentally put it back in with the wrong polarity, after you ascertain the right side to go in the hole, mark that side with a sharpie dot.

    28. My girl arrived today, her name is Omega. Still deciding on what her body paint is going to be, but so far happy with her look.

    30. I'm still working on my blue Delta, she still needs a lot of work.... but i'm almost done with the Eta I bought from the MP. She's inspired by Quantic Dream's Kara

    31. Ooh kittywolf love the blue wig and skin tone! And can't wait to see your girl all finished mlefever I really like the pink lines on her body. She looks like she's going to be a very sweet girl.

And I just wanted to show off my new girl, Marx. (She just looks Iike a Queen "B" shes really a girly girl at heart, but Shh you never heard that from me )

    33. My Eta arrived yesterday evening :D she is just perfect! I've named her Sev (Short for Seven, Eta = Seven) I've decided to send her to Tanu-Chan for face up and body blushing. I'll see if I can drop her off this weekend~

    36. Congrats everyone who got there dolls!! It's so nice to all the new arrivals!! My Delta go a new dress and couldn't wait to show off. It always amazes me how versatile these little girls are!!

    37. That is a really nice dress! Did you make it?

    38. No, I got it in the MP. The seller said it was a Tata's.

    39. Yay Tara Byte has a faceup AND eyes!

I think her wig will be here Tuesday *fingers crossed*.
Gah the eyelashes were SO ANNOYING and I'm still irritated that they aren't super symetrical. I'm very happy with my color scheme though - yellow, green, & purple on blue ^_^ Plus, those are like, the nicest lower lashes I've done to date! *tiny celebration*

    40. I grabbed a closeup shot of my Delta, SA55-3 (pronounces "Sassy") while I was taking some pics of my robo dolls the other day:

I also have an Eta faceplate for her but I'm not sure what I'll be doing with her quite yet.

    41. Well, guess I may as well post a pic of the whole crew to the thread then so people don't have to follow the link. :D

DSC01978 by Kitty Fields, on Flickr

I'll take any excuse to spam my robos! Now if only I had more Mini-Machinas to spam (I want a delta in white someday so I can do Glados, mwuhaha)

    42. Oh yes, the red one (I named her Starchaser) IS a custom job. I bought her off the girl who did her, La Tarte au Citron/Lime. She's completely OOAK and I am EXTREMELY lucky to have her. I could not believe it when I saw she'd been put up for sale; I loved that doll but never EVER thought she'd be rehomed. I almost died with happiness when I got her home. I love her so much. <3

Speaking of the new Mini-Machina sculpt, someone said Batchix has a WIP photo of the new sculpt on her Tumblr, but I couldn't find it. Anyone have a link?

    43. Oh, kittyfields, now it all makes sense. That's so awesome that you were able to get her.

Thanks for the link mlefever. The new sculpt, thou rough, looks a lot like Delta, but more humanly-shaped lips? Its the only difference I really see, so far.

    44. Babs got a dress. ^_^

    45. so for reference sake here's Mac wearing a YO-SD sized dress:

I got a few random doll bits by kittywolf13, on Flickr

as you can see its baggy on her. length is good, but it would need a belt or to be modified to fit her properly. :)

    46. Here's my new girl - just picked her up this afternoon. No name yet and quite a bit to do. She borrowed some eyes and a wig for some quick photos. I'm in love.

    47. This is Blip. She's a white-skin Eta from the first pre-order. Since I got a hand-cast helmet from Batchix for my Epsilon, I gave Blip his original gray helmet instead. I fits her personality a bit better. Also, this is my first faceup; thankfully I had a good friend who did her eyelashes (bought red eyelashes and the gold eyes from the Utsunomiya Volks).

I'm going to do her lines in orange once I figure out how to do it. ;D

    48. Lady Ravenswood She's actually not keeping the purple wig, that was just so she wouldn't be bald for photos ^_^ I like the color combo, but that wig already belongs to one of my other dolls, so no sharing! She has a pink wig now, which was always my plan :)

    49. I started working on faceup last night and am quite pleased so far. But I am terrified to work on her body. I know I should take her apart to do this properly, but I've never completely taken apart and restrung a doll so I'm apprehensive. Does this doll have any particular quirks I should know about?

    50. I did mind while strung due to lazy. If you are willing to work slowly you don't necessarily have to unstring her.
I also have a system where I hang my dolls up from planter hooks on my screened in porch, that way I can spray them with MSC or airbrush them without having to lay them down

    51. Hm, that could work. I've been contemplating doing it as-is, since the blushing wont be everywhere, but who knows. Thanks for the tip :) I have to wait to get MSC anyway.

    52. I think the stringing and unstringing is quite easy I only had problems with getting the hands back on. They are strung very tight and very short strings so you can't even loosen them.
