Contest Bare Minimum: Photography Contest

Jul 31, 2018

    1. I really don't like being able to see the results, especially since you can change your vote also....I refuse to look again, afraid I might be tempted to alter my answer...that and the minute by minute "How am I doing?" is murder. aaargh, Signing out!

    2. yeah, being able to see the result when you can change is kind tempting cause you want to use strategy instead of just what you feel. Like "i like these, but between the ones i like these ones have more chance so i should vote for it so my vote will make a winner instead of just fill the void"... I am also fighting myself to keep my first choices.

    3. Wow, so many cool entries! It's hard to pick 3.

    4. I believe I have altered the voting thread where the results cannot be seen. Even though I'm not running this contest, it's OUTSTANDING how many entries there are! Everyone who participated and cheered others on should be congratulated!!

    5. There are so many amazing entries. It was really hard to choose just 3.

    6. Posing! Lighting! Composition! Y'all are all amazing! I would love to have been a fly on the wall for each and every photo shoot, I have so much I can learn from all! Can't I vote for everybody? There was something I loved about each.

    7. I never expected so many entries! I think this is the most I've seen in any contest. Whoever wins this one really has a lot of skill and talent! I have placed my votes, but there was so much to see here, and interesting things people did that never would have occurred to me to do. Good job, everyone!

    8. Later after the winners are revealed and we don't have to be annonymous if you want to ask anything in particular about my photo I'd be happy to answer questions about the photo I took.

    9. I was so worried about not having a chance to win, but now that ive seen how amazing some works are I will gladly lose cause I have so much space to grow and learn! Losing in this case certainly doesnt mean your pic was bad, its just that some were even better. From the results that were showing before we kind have a idea of which will win, but unlike i thought I would feel discouraged, seeing the few votes for me made me sooo happy! I hope I can thank each one that voted for me, I dont think you understand how much happy and less lonely you make me feel <3

    10. You expect me to just pick 3?!? You're kidding right?!?!

Wow everyone, just. . . Wow.

    11. Whoaaa that's a lot to choose from! Okay, yep, definitely going to have to take notes to narrow it down. I'm floored by how many wonderful and creative interpretations there are *_*:abow:

    12. Photography and dolls has always been a big part of the hobby, so I guess it's not surprising to see so many entries--and so many that are just absolutely fantastic! I love the amount of talent and skill and creativity floating around here!

I wish there were prizes for a ton of entries--it's so hard to pick just three! (I had over 10 I wished I could vote for.) *_*

Congrats to everyone who entered!!! :dance

    13. Voting has closed and the winners have been announced in the second post! Thank you to everyone who participated! :D

    14. Gratz for the winners :D

My personal favorites are #10 the man and the skulls, #23 the laughing dropped head and #76 the tiny baby on the floating leaf !

It was so difficult to narrow it down to three. <3
There was too many beautiful entries.

    15. Thanks so much for hosting this contest and thanks to everyone who voted for me!
      It still feels unreal :D

There was a lot of very good entries and I also found it hard to pick only 3! <3

    16. Great contest! Congrats to the winners!!!!!!!

    17. Congratulations to the winners!

I love how risky it is to put a doll in milk! It reminded me of an oreo biscuit being gunked in, that was my top vote of the entries

I also loved the Yin Yang and its no surprise it palced high, very pretty :love I think I now need a dollshe body hehe

I was entry 24, I got inspiration from the junkyard? android graveyard scene in detroit become human lol

    18. Congrats to the winners!

@GreenTeaSlug I loved your entry, it got a vote for me.

      I also voted for #10.

    19. Congrats to the winners!

      My personal favorites were:

#12- Your gorgeous girl in the field was very eye catching and the set up looked so natural and realistic, I really loved her.

#23- The girl who lost her head! This one made me laugh and it was so simple and clean, I found her very amusing.

#100- The colors in this photo! I really like how her bright blue hair stood out from the wood background. It gave me a feeling of being in a sauna or natural spring, and she looks quite content to be there!

Mine was #8, with Charlie staring into the bathroom mirror, admiring his results from working out. I wasn't very confident in my photography at all, so thank you to the people who voted for me and saw more in this photo than I did. :XD:

    20. Congrats to the winners! My entry didn't stand a chance, haha! Maybe next year I can get a vote, at least

    21. Congratulations to the winners. Mine was number 22, Janus my Mirodoll Peng reflected in black. And especially thank you to the person who voted for me :)

    22. this competition was such a fun! I believe that in photography limitations are blessings (like nude doll was here), they can create great concepts, not just a pretty shoots. And everyone did good job, a lot of just AMASING photos.
@Snow I was speechless when saw your entry, you do deserve main prize!

and of course THANK YOU for all your votes for my work!
I hope it at least a bit "advertises" Mr. Dollshe talent, those bodies are just wow! :love

    23. I absolutely loved #12, I'm a tad disappointed it wasn't one of the winners. I've seen a lot of amazing photos of dolls with awesome dioramas and setups made by their owners. But it's the first time I've seen a photo where the doll took ownership of its environment, transformed it, and bent it to its will. I know it's a photo and everything I see and feel is just an illusion, but it must take some skill to create that sort of magic.

    24. Im surprised none of the one I voted for won cause they were totally the best on my opinion, it just shows how opinions can vary, its kind exciting like elections time when you cant really be sure haha

    25. Holy cow I came fourth! My entry was number #5 - the black and white Iplehouse Miho and Yur. I just can't believe I received that many votes. Photography isn't something I usually take very seriously so this is really unexpected. Thank you to everyone who voted for me, it really boosts my confidence. And congrats to the winners. Your photos are truly art. Yay for DoA anniversary events! :smallcake

    26. The winner was definitely one of my top 10... and the second was one I definitely considered. Both are fantastic and I can see why they won.

I also liked the skulls. And: the blue guy, the b&w of the two girls facing away, the shadowy tattooed-horned guy, the pretty pearly catfish, the baby on leaf, the one in the ivy branches, the two girls semi-close interacting, and definitely the little one in the sunflowers! There were incredible posing and cropping, etc. going on too. So many fantastic images. Truly, you all were impressive! :thumbup:abow::love

    27. The ones I voted for were:

12 - the picture doesnt seem to be taken with a cellphone at all, the doll look gorgeous and no words are need to understand the history
24 - awesome concept, I love how we can kind make a relation with dolls and humans and parts and feelings and all those things from this pic
70 - love this composition, it looks like a scene from a fantasy drama cause its all so well done

Couldnt vote for myself when there were such great competitors! Everyone, you did well!
If you are curious about which entry was mine, just check my doll profiles, I'm using my picture there now hahaha

    28. Congratulations to the winners! I didn't think I would even get a single vote as I am terrible at photography, but I love taking nude photos of my dolls (I mostly take only nudes...). I thought the concept was easy enough for me for someone with zero photography skills to participate, but I never expected to get more than one vote, so thank you so much to the people who voted for my photo! Mine was the FL ChicLine Rou sitting on a skull, reaching for the other's skull's opened mouth (I always wanted to do something with those skulls, but don't have dolls that are small enough, or large enough!). DX

    29. oh, I actually liked this one a lot!
I thought it looked "renaissance" :3nodding:

    30. Thank you so much, classical art was definitely my inspiration for the lighting for this photo (like Caravaggio's work, he's one of my favorites! I love dark cryptic art).

    31. Congratz to the winners! ^.^
There where so many amazing pictures!

Mine was #6. note to self for next year, lighting (still wasn't 100% pleased with the contrast) and to put the title in the description, not only in the title of my topic (since the title sadly got lost and in my opinion gave the picture it's power). Title was: "Lost in Pain".

    32. I am still geeking out at the entry with the doll chasing its own head, that laughs as it rolls away. How cute!

      Congrats winners!

    33. Congratulations to the winners! :)
I still feel like I haven't seen all of the entries yet …^^ The photos were all so different, and my favourites changed each time I looked at the pictures. I liked #4 a lot.

Mine was #30. It was actually only a test shoot to see if I had enough light from my window and if I could create a hair blowing in the wind effect. In the end I decided to go for a dynamic documentary style and to post it anyway.

    34. right? I thought it was an amazing use of the sculpt, love that one too!

    35. Congrats to the winners! There were so many fantastic photos. I'm amazed I got any votes at all, because I was completely outclassed.

    36. Congrats winners!

    37. I was #51, with the doll drawing the doll. No votes, but with the stiff competition, it's no wonder. Congrats to the winners!

    38. I was the last entry. :P With the girl looking to the sky. Figured I wouldn't win but I was really happy with that photo!

    39. Congratulations to the winners and everyone!! :sumomo:
It was great to see all the interpretations of the theme. I loved the photo with all the doll parts. <3
I did photo #15 (just the doll torso with the plant stem), hehe.

    40. I really liked yours! It was such a unique idea for this theme. I especially thought it was interesting with just a piece of the plant in the piece of the doll, rather than a full bouquet. Very creative concept!

    41. Congrats to the winners. I knew I was waaaay out of my league on all the contests but they were still fun to do. I love my photo that I entered: Every-Body is Purrrfectly Beautiful was the title of mine, though it appears titles weren't added on for voting. I wanted to do something creative with a group of dolls with different body types, skin colors and companies so as to promote that every doll is beautiful. :) So yea mine was the 7 kitty girls #54 that got no votes..lol.

    42. Aw, thank you so much @CloakedSchemer
Hehe, it was actually a weed that grew in my yard when the monsoon rains fell! :sweat
But the flowers were so delicate that I kept looking at them out my window. I love purple flowers, hehe.

    43. I am loving to find each user behind the pics. The entries were so great, I have something to praise in each one of them. Sorry if my shyness dont let me do this to you (i have moments were im more brave and others when i feel in my shyest), but be sure i loved to play the game with you!

    44. I voted for your photo! I thought it had a lot of emotion. :)

    45. I really liked the plants in the torso, it was a neat idea.

      • x 1
    46. For the torso with a plant, I actually thought "wow, I want to have one like this in my house one day". It is a beautifull art!

      • x 1
    47. @flornosertao
      Oh goodness! Thank you!! :blush
Maybe an air plant! That would be neat! If you ever make one, I'd love to see it. ^___^

    48. Grats to the winners! I did a lot better than I thought I would, which makes me very happy even though I came in 13th! Mine was the baby sinking floating on the leaf. :)

      • x 3
    49. @UrbanHermit I voted for your photo! I thought it was such a good balancing act, hehe. So sweet! ^__^

    50. Congrats to the winners. Both of them were in my top 5! There were soooo many I liked, though.

My entry #25 did get one vote. It was the first time ever I did a real shoot with my dolls. Mostly i just take them outside, put them down, take pics and hope for the best.

Now I had to work on the posing, the hair, watching out I didn't reflect myself in the glass of the lanturn, ...

Especially posing was hard, I never do much with that. Although she was a Dollzone, which helped a ton. Perfect posers and they hold poses well. I think I would have given up on this of I had picked another doll.

Well, at least I got a nicer picture of my doll, now.

    51. Thank you so much!
I voted for you and I am super glad you won as well :D I really loved the yin-yang feel to your photo and Dollshe does sculpt beautifully, but it was your moody lighting that really made the photo for me.

    52. It was sooooo difficult choosing only 3 photos.
I had to make a list of all the pics I liked and made comparisons rounds after rounds. I am still uncertain why I took some off my list over others, because I dearly love the ones I stroke off.
Though #97 is definitively the photo I like most, just because I never imagined a Dollshe Amanda could give such vibe. It was an eye-opener for me. 'Still not sure I will ever want to own one, but this picture definitively kicked my bones.
