B&G (Boy & Girl) Discussion

Ok thanks guys. My computer is also always acting very strange. And messes around with me all the time. Reason why I am now thinking about getting a new computer.

I will try to register from my sisters computer instead and see if that helps. And I really hope it do because I love many of the B&G dolls. Especially Sandra And would love to maybe get some of them in the future. I know I can order B&G dolls through other companies, but I would much rather ordering directly from B&G them selves.

 

B&G's website has not been allowing logins since August. Some sort of problem that afflicts the site regardless of the browser you use or if you use the Chinese site instead.

There's three possible options for you:

Renaissance Fashion - Ebay, but Jack is mostly reliable if very slow on replies. The problem here is that he doesn't seem to understand that B&G has four skintones instead of two. He usually sends out white or normal yellow. I tried asking him if he could get normal pink, but he didn't seem to understand the question at all.

Rose Dolls - Based out of the UK. Carries all four skintones.

Doll Mansion - From Hong Kong. Carries all four skintones, plus you can get alternate hands and high heel feet for girls.

Did they give you a reason for why they are no longer going to carry B&G? I just received my "Sky" Malachi from Denver Doll, and I am very glad I ordered him when I did O.o;

 

No, I wasn't given any reason whatsoever. However, if you google "B&G Doll" it appears the DDE order pages are still there, but not accessable from their main index anymore.

 

I got my big girl Freya (Lily Rose) in August from DDE, and noticed last week that they were only selling instock items. I was hoping to order another doll through them too.

 

Well.... I have heard complaints from people who have B&G accounts that they are having trouble with logging in or receiving word back or something along that line, perhaps DDE was having that trouble as well and does not want the stress of another group order until the problem gets fixed?

Since I've got several B&Gs with another two planned, I took a resin comparison photo for everyone.



The Normal Pink skintone is regular Urethane resin, and not environmental/french resin.

 

Appreciate the resin comparison. Thanks for posting it! I was a bit concerned with the new resin. I heard somewhere that it flaked? Or maybe it was that specific doll. No one seems to be having problems though, so I'm happy~ I love their elf molds

 

I haven't had any problems with flaking with the new NS-Y ev-resin. I do have a spare part in that skintone sitting under open light on a windowsill for the last several weeks and there's been no significant yellowing yet either. We'll see how long that lasts when summer rolls around!

Jarlath is in the 2011 normal pink skin, fyi. My normal yellow ev-resin guy is a MSD Saipan Blackrain and offtopic for this thread. There's a pic of Thor in the general B&G doll picture database though.

Thanks! Jarlath can be a real ladykiller.

His coat was a limited from Tous Les Garcons and originally sized for my Super Gem boy. Aside from having to roll up the sleeves a bit, it actually fits the Type 3 62cm B&G body pretty well.

 

Does anybody know, if B&G Sunny is the same mold as B&G Sandra? I am thinking about a Sunny boy on a girl body. But if he's the same mold as Sandra, it will be easier to order.

 

Sunny/Sandra are the same mold, Rin/Natalia. I think Freya/Sky is also the same head, just different genders.

Wow it's been a while since I was in this thread...

I'm looking to get a pair of jointed hands for my Sapphira who's on the type 2 girl body. Anyone know what fits best?? Color probably doesn't matter too much. He's WS and pretty yellowed, so I doubt much will be a perfect match...

 

I am looking for tan Sky owner pictures. Both open and SP eyes. I am considering again getting a tan sky.

I only want one Sky doll. So it`ll be with either open or SP eyes. But I am not sure what I want..


I`ll be happy to see any Sky owner pictures there is also. Open eyes, sleepy eyes and in what ever resin color your Sky got. I just need some Sky spam to figure out what I want

I really LOVE my b&g Sandra I have no idea how old she is though - I found her on ebay UK last winter - she had had her ears sanded off but her wig hides the damage. She's my only single joint doll as I've only been in the hobby a year or so - I regard her as very 'old school' and classic looking bjd. Even though she's single jointed I find her easier to pose than my double jointed SD sized girl (AoD Qian) as she's less 'all over the place'. I am guessing she's yellow skin as she's quite yellow, although it's even, and she is lovely quality. Her faceup is adorable I think

Can anyone tell me which companies are a good resin match for B&G? I'd like to get a new head for my older B&G boy body.

 

malvagitabella Oh no Can't believe I managed to forget about Sky! I blame my wishlist for always being out of control.

Meanwhile while I had totally forgotten about Sky, Luts release different tan skin and I fall for SDF Frey. Sky is so amazing but I don't have plans on getting him anytime soon. I also need to figure out if I really need and want this sculpt anymore.

But your tan Sky is real cool! I might have to give it some more thought..

 

I have older WS and NS Type 2 boy bodies (from 2008), both have CP Delf heads on them. The WS head was unevenly greened and had to be really blushed to match but the NS head matches perfectly. This is actually his third B&G type 2 body though, and of those three, one didn't match at all.

 

I see, thank you for your help. I've never tried to match a doll before so I'm really worried.

 

Some more spam of my B&G Sandra with her little sister (leekeworld Peanut) I keep splitting these 2 up but they gravitate back towards each other - I think it's the pink hair!

 

Has anyone found out a good way to restring the type-2 girl body (torso joint, but not double-jointed)? I was hoping to tighten my Eleanor this weekend but when I pulled her torso apart I saw to my confusion that the knot appears to be in the lower section of her body, meaning I'd have to 100% unstring her to tighten. And since it double-loops through her, I'm pretty worried I'm going to jack it up somehow. >_<;

I think this is the year I really need to get Wynners fixed up and back out into the world. He tends to go to a lot of doll meets (decked out within an inch of his life), but I NEVER photograph him anymore
He needs a ton of work...new faceup, all over body sanding, mods....That inner torso piece permanently fixed....body blush, I'd love to get him some jointed hands, but I have no idea what company would match his ancient, yellowed self.

I've been thinking of replacing his head, but only with a certain mold I doubt I'll ever find, so since it most likely won't ever happen, I should go on and spoil him....

Even though I've had Wyn since 2008 (he was my fourth doll -- though since I sold my third he's sorta my third doll), so I think it'll be ok to post a really really old photo of him...

D'aw, he still looks shiny and new! He's had a new faceup for about two years...which means it's now old. And sucks. I need to redo it.

Neela ~ I honestly don't know. Back in the day I used renaissancefashion on ebay, but I think he started flaking or isn't a dealer anymore, so I don't recommend that.

I just checked Jeeryama....she's still selling them. I've bought from her a bunch of times, she's good.

 

jeeryama doesn't show up on my computer any more on ebay - she's got a message on her shop link saying that, due to ebay changes, people in Germany (and I guess the rest of Europe) can't see her listings any more, but she's still trading on ebay so message her - really annoying as she's a great dealer!

 

Heya B&G Folks, I hang out with Elve in a few other threads, just discovered Sandra after looking up who her profile photo was, but I've been trying to figure out any idea if the B&G NS resin is a close match for FDoll? From the tons of google searching I've been doing I can't find the two being compared to each other, but both have been compared to Luts NS and seem to match well, so I'm hopeful?

 

Well, if they're still doing environmental resin, I'm not sure how good a match it will be, but the older NS or YNS should match decently. I have had both FDoll (normal before they had two colors of NS) and B&G type 2 (normal before the enviro resin and before they had two NSs) bodies for my CP Breakaway head (2008) and both were, not identical, but a decent match. So they're at least close to each other.

I don't know about Luts, as I've never seen the NP of either company, and all the luts I've owned has been a very pale pinkish yellow like Dollmore.

The body my Breakway is on is Fdoll (but it's old) and the one that's headless is B&G type 3 before they went to environmental (again I have no idea if they're still doing that or not).
Everything else is various cp resins from god knows when....

Probably not much help in the long run, but that's what I know!

 

You are my hero VampireAngel13! The head I've been eyeing is one of the oldest release of the head, and the Fdoll body I have is also very old, so it looks like they should be a great match.

 

my girl's off ebay AlmySidaKay - she's single joint and quite yellowy - although it's even - I am guessing they only did normal yellow back when she was made, which I'm guessing is around 2007....ish?

 

I've seen pictures of resin comparisons between luts and the (maybe) old resin, in ws. It looks very close to perfect, though it isn't.

 

Elve my Afra is also a little yellowy (though even), he's ws circa '08.

 

oh so she could even be white skin then originally! I should add she's NOT as yellow as in that photo - I have a very basic 3mp camera, so much tweaking in photoshop needed on all my pics to make them even visible LOL - Looking at that scrap of blue fabric she's sitting on, I'd say there's a bit too much colour saturation in that photo - taken at night by normal lightbulb lighting.

Keep in mind, this was taken with my camera-phone. Quality is so-so.
However the color of the resin in this picture is pretty accurate.

 

I think my girl must be normal yellow then - she's much yellower than that, definitely! But it's never bothered me - it's a nice colour and it's even - she's definitely my favourite doll, and I find the simple jointing quite nice after wrestling with all the complex modern joints LOL

 

Well that's all that matters, really, is that you like it. And I agree, it is a nice color.

 

Oh! I don't know if I've ever properly introduced us. I'm Neela, and that boy pictured in the previous post is Dietrich, an Afra.
And we're on an adventure to find his identity.

Long story long, he was an impulse buy from the marketplace around this time last year (my first SD). Unfortunately we haven't really bonded.
Actually, recently I was thinking of selling him. However, I realized I had never really gotten to know him.
So we're reinventing him, and trying to see if I can bond a little better with him. So far we've discovered that he's completely different from how I first imagined him!

I'll probably post pictures every now and then throughout the process to keep you guys updated.

 

oh good luck - I think he's lovely - he has a beautiful mouth and face - I really like the hands on these dolls too! I am very fickle with my dolls normally - if I go off them I put them away for a while and then try several new wigs on them to see if they will interest me again. I loved Erica (b&g Sandra) in her pink wig so much that I nearly didn't bother changing it around when I got her new wig - but I'm glad I did as I love her even more now LOL - especially with the brown eyes too. So just keep changing stuff around and I'm sure you'll find a look which grabs you eventually

 

Thank you! Yeah, I'm not gonna do much modification to his face, except maybe smooth out the bridge of his nose. But I just recently cleaned his face-up off, and as soon as the face-up shop that I have my eye has open slots again, I'm sending him in!
I'm kinda on the fence about the hands, sometimes I love them and sometimes I wish they were a bit more neutral/relaxed.

Yeah! I just have to keep an eye on my funds... Generally budgeting and dolly soul-searching don't really go hand-in-hand.
Good thing is I can always sell the items that end up not working out.

 

wigs have become my absolute favourite thing to buy though, even more than clothes - Because when you think about it, without a wig you don't have a doll - hair is a MUST HAVE (unless your character is intentionally bald of course!) And wigs aren't really too expensive, for the amazing way they can transform a doll from 'meh' to 'WOW' so quickly and simply - Having seen that transformation several times now, with dolls I was going to sell, I now aim to amass an enormous bucket of wigs LOL

So is there a very big difference between the new resin and the old resin? My boy's got the old resin and I wanted to buy another pair of hands for him...

Mine has to be restrung too...and the middle part needs to be reglued in. And I want jointed hands for him. And a new face up.

I am trying to work up the nerve to wipe his face right now...I trimmed his wig today, and rewired his tail. Baby steps.

B&G Went through a really popular phase in 08, a crapton of people were buying -- especially Sapphira and Afra. When I bought Wyn, there were so many people in the waiting room! It was crazy. Now...not so much. I blame their service, dealers and the fact that they switched to environmental resin without telling anyone, even the people who had dolls on order. Companies can have great dolls but if they screw over their customers, they lose fans.

I used to have a bunch of B&G dolls, now I just own my original two and one of them is on a DZ body....

 

Yeah, I went and did further research and like you said, they seemed to have been quite popular a few years ago, but I can see how that has faded. They don't seem to have improved their aesthetics much to fit the current trends either. And woah, changing resin without telling people? That's kinda shitty, I understand changing it, but at least inform people...

A friend of mine that is super good with faceup contacted me this morning to offer to redo his, so looks like he'll be getting a new look! I'll share some pics when the transformation will be done. I love those floopy elf ears too much to dare part with him now, not a lot of elf sculpts have ears like that

 

I love the older aesthetics so I have been having fun brining older unloved dolls home. I do hate when they do something drastic like change what kind of resin they are casting in. I'm almost done saving up for my Sunny/Sandra hybrid so hopefully I can have her home in the next month. How has your transformation been going DarksStars?

 

I was very lucky the other day, found a Sunny head on Ebay for half what I was planning on spending! Looks like I'll have Evie, my Sunny/Sandra home sooner than I thought. I can't wait to share her with everyone.

 

Hello, B&G crowd! Does anyone know if they sell their heads separately? Sapphira's sculpt is perfect for what I want but I don't necessarily like the type 3 male body that he comes with. I sent them an email and I'm waiting for a reply but I'm not sure how quickly they're respond with the Chinese New Year being this weekend.
