Atelier Momoni

I know I am stalking it, because I love their wigs and the one I have for her is actually a frappzilla, but the style and color just ended up not being quite right for her. But the ones yesterday were also not quite what I am looking for and someone *shoots you a side-eye* bought them up before I could even think about whether or not it could work.

 

Atelier Momoni has a leggins pattern for momonita body on her page. It needs a bit of tweeking for Somni though.

 

I bought two that I am iffy about, the one I really wanted sold before I saw it, but I did manage to get the second one with that style in a different color. You weren't looking for fantasy colors were you

 

Yup, but I need a style that shows at least some of her forehead in a light color, preferably light pink, peachy or something along those lines. Buuuut.... If I see anything that might work I am snatching it up.

 

I added a photo of the three I got, not sure if that is allowed, I should probably take it down just in case. I was thinking my Somni would look great in the fantasy colored wigs, but not knowing what color her eyes will be or what color her face up is makes it difficult. I have seen the "basic face up" but eye color can make the colors on the face up look different too. Hopefully one, or better yet, both of the wigs I got her works. I also need something for KittyM, the ones I have seen seem to have a pinky/purple face up so maybe those wigs can work for her too. Fingers crossed!

 

The purple of the ones you got, would style-wise work for my somni. That one would show her facepaint fairly well. But the color is just not what I am looking for.
I'll keep my fingers crossed that they will work for your girls!

 

Oh man that was me too. I've been sewing periodically for the last year or so now and I'm still.... NOT really great at it, but YEAH I'm like, I absolutely want more options too because I cannot for the life of me find the stuff I need ready made. I will also keep you posted if I find templates/variety whatever!

Also good luck to bothayou on settling on wigs! When I go for Somni, I'm a little nervous about color choices like that. Paige has natural hair and I had her character planned for a year before I got her so it was much easier to work with but fantasy colors open up a whole world of head-scratching opportunities.

 

Thanks! I love the vibrant colors, I just hope each one works on at least one of them! I do foresee more in my future so either way I can save them for a later doll too. I think they said they aren't making wigs anymore after this, or that it will be a really long time. I am hoping they post some of the spikey haired with braids, that is what I am really wanting, but I am happy with the ones I got, just iffy about the colors working.
Which wig do you have now that isn't working for her? Do you have a picture. I don't have marketplace access yet and it is killing me how much stuff I could be missing out on lol

I figure if I am making stuff just for myself it doesn't have to be perfect, as long as it looks ok. If I am decent enough at it my dolls will all have a major wardrobe haha

 

@Osquary go go go one just popped up that may work for you, it isn't as vibrant but the style is right and it is pink and orange!

 

Yeah I saw and from the time I clicked on the home page till I was on the product page it had sold.
It would have worked, even if it is a tad to vibrant for this girl.

 

I haven't put it up for sale just yet, I want a new wig for her first. It is the Summoner style in mochaberry blend.

 

oh no, I was hoping it was you that got it. I figured it might be too dark but it was muted enough I thought it may work for you. I would have bought it, but was hoping you would get it.

 

No worries, if I don't get a wig this time around I might just stick with the one she has for now or heck even make her one.

 

I was looking at pictures and videos on how to make wigs, and I am tempted to try. I go back and forth on loving changing them up, and finding one look and sticking with it. The monique wigs are low cost, so I am hoping I love the look on them. I have had their wigs for other dolls and they can be hit or miss (I find that they are nicer in person than their photos though, which helps)

 

That's good to know. Let me know how the 4" fits, I might have to try some out then.

It is a nicely colored wig, hopefully one pops up at just the right time for you!
There have a been a few wigs posted that I wish were in the smaller size. I am still holding out hope they will list the spiky hair with braids.

 

How did I miss the KittyM order period? I've looked at the site pretty often, but I missed it! I left a comment about missing her and now waiting for the next time on the date announcement page. Though my favorite color for her is Java, and that's not available this round. Did anyone order one?

 

Do you mean this one: Summoner ? Because that is the style I have that unfortunately does not work for my somni. Because I had a spark of inspiration and gave her facepaint on her forehead that I want seen and the wig covers it. I haven't glued the braids on yet because I don't know yet if I want to keep it. Contemplating keeping it for Ren, if he has the same size head as the girls

sorry you missed out, I feel your pain, I missed out on her several times between preorders and second hand sales. I only got her this time because someone I follow posted about a preorder on her IG.

I had no idea that was the name of it lol. Yes, this is the style. You have to glue on the braids? If I manage to snag one is it possible to use small clips to keep the braids on?

 

Hmmm... maybe - I haven't tried tbh. I don't have any clips small enough, but you could probably find a less permanent solution if you're crafty enough.

 

Don't get me wrong - the summoner is one of my favoirites of their styles. It is just not easy to style it in a way that both let's the wig do what it does best and shows off her facepaint at the same time.

 

Also in regards to wigs for this size in general: Cricri84 on instagram also makes wigs for this size and her wigs look really nice too!

 

DGRequiem on Etsy has lots of neat patterns for both Barbie and what she calls petite slimline dolls. When I got my Somni, I sent the owner the measurements and asked which pattern size to use. She said to use the petite slimline scaled up 140%. I've tried it for both my Somni and my KittyM and the fit is really good.

I have been following Cricri I got the Monique wig yesterday and unfortunately the 4 is too small but the eyes I got worked nicely. I need to call tomorrow to see if I can exchange it for a bigger size or else I don't know what to do with the wig. I don't know if Monique wigs run larger or smaller, but I don't want to keep buying the wrong size. I guess it is trial and error though.

Those brown eyes are gorgeous and perfectly compliment her hair and skin.

I can confirm that Monique Gold wigs in 4-5 fit my miniReira really well. They are a bit on the thick side though.

Awesome! Thanks for confirming this, I was worried about getting the 4-5 and it still being too small. I want to start with one wig to see how I like it on this scale. I have a wish list of the ones I like best and glad I only got one to test out first.

 

I've barely posted anywhere for ages because I just haven't felt inspired in months, but I did get Essie some new clothes today. They're... ahem.. liberated from a fairly cheap New Moon barbie. The brown bodysuit is a bit loose in the torso and the pants are a bit long, but overall I couldn't be more pleased by either the price or the quality. And also I have a Bella barbie to model Essie's purple fantasy dress when she isn't wearing it. I was never really a fan of Twilight, but the coloration between the two dolls is nearly identical. Go figure.

@Osquary were you able to get any of the frapzilla wigs? I did see a few that sold that looked like they may be the colors that would work for you. I am not stalking the site as much since the listings are so sporadic. I have seen a few I would have loved to get but they were already sold by the time I saw them.

I am trying to figure out what clothing styles I want mine to have. I bought several barbie outfits but bottoms are tricky, so now I have all these tops and no bottoms I like

 

I actually ended up managing to style the summoner so her markings are mostly showing. So I'm not desperate. I have a little script checking the site for me while I am on the computer, but I haven't found one that I was sure about yet, so I skipped them.

Mine haven't shipped, I think I have to give them the ok to ship it or it will ship after the event is over? I am not really sure how they are working it. I haven't messaged them to ship yet just in case I manage to get another one, but at the rate it is going I am about to give up.

 

I think she mentioned on Instagram yesterday that they would mail out the sold ones next week, unless you ask them to hold them until the event is over.

 

I knew I read something about it, if they have shipped I haven't gotten notification (and not sure I will get notification anyway) so I guess I will just be surprised when they show up lol

Did you guys see the Atelier Momoni stories on fb/instagram? Pictures of Ren are going up on the website - might that mean the preorder is nigh?

 

I saw them I wish I could get in on the preorder but right now isn't a good time. I can't wait to see more info, and hopefully more pictures!

 

She did post on FB and Instagram in late July that there would be a preorder later in August. I think any day now.

 

Yeah I did see that, she was talking about mid/late August, but since nothing further had been disclosed, and her communication is not alsways the best, I tend to not believe anything until I see the evidence... <.<

Do you mean you are looking to buy one or sell one?
I think they usually go for about the same price as when new, especially if they have original face-up and eyes.

My gamora and nebula Somni's finally got here after two months of waiting impatiently! Their faceplates and hands will be going off next week to get painted. Here they are with my other three girls

 

Every one of Lola's resin colors is so wonderful, it makes me want to get one of each!

 

@Akemi3167 just posted the final pics of my fantasy Somni's and I couldn't be happier! I asked her to do a Monster High inspired Frankie and Abbey and I am super happy with the outcome!

Also not sure if this has been said before or not. But the Pitsusas fit Ken doll shoes. Thankfully Barbie has been offering Ken doll shoes separately so that's great!

I traded my Nena02 Reira for this special girl! She is a MiniReira but she has the Momonita torso and a face up by Lola. I cannot get really good photos of her face up. There is gold glitter and shimmer, it is so pretty! I named her Iolanthe.
