Asleep Eidolon Tiny, Pt.2

yes, its the same place i was last year. its nice to know where everything is. i've done great wall (amazing) and forbidden city, but not the summer palace yet. been to see the terracotta warriors in xi'an as well. i'm definitely going to have to check that page out. i haven't found any shops here yet, but i haven't really been looking. I will have to keep an eye out! I'm extra excited to get to Hong Kong now too...I'll likely go to new zealand and hong kong for the long holiday this year.

 

i know what you mean. Much easier to get around when you know a place. Still trying to figure out our new city, but we kind of know what to expect so it makes it easier. I've seen the Terracotta warriors as well. I also recommend Chengdu (somewhat near Xi'an) and going to the Panda breeding and research center. If you're willing to pay a bit for it, you can hold a panda! Totally was one of my favorite things to do! Hong Kong is pretty awesome. Very excited to go back and find the doll stuff, as well as the other awesome stuff. hehe. For sure you'll have to check it out. I've been wanting to go to NZ. My parents are coming to visit then, so just likely show them around our area. Hoping to try and go to Japan over National Week. Have you taken any of your dollies out and about in China? I've been wanting to, to take pictures... but a little worried about it. ^^;

 

Japan is also on my list of must go places...I might try to get a job there next year. I want to go to Chengdu as well, and Shanghai. And Hong Kong! I haven't taken my dolls far, but there is a really pretty park right near the school, and I've brought one of my pukifee there a few times. I'll probably bring a dolly on vacation this year...I was afraid to last year, but I think it will be alright.

 

haha so many places to see and so little time. Japan is awesome. I went to Shanghai, but unfortunately it was during a typhoon and ended up spending the whole trip in the hotel. :P awww that sounds nice. Did anyone look at you when you took your pukifee out? back home I really only took my dolls out to my parents' house, though I did take Haruhi to California with me and took her out a few times...

As for taking dolls to public places... I took Nyrea with me to france and denmark Only to one or two public places though. But thats not because I'm scared to, mainly because I don't want to embarrass the people who are taking me said places
So I stopped being lazy and re-sealed Nyrea today... She was super shiney! Poses much nicer now ^^ Though my lack of lazyness didn't last long and I didn't re-seal her head as I couldn't be bothered to re-gloss her lips lol I'm a bad bad bjd owner lol

I wish I was not so nervous about taking dollies out and about. I dont like to draw attention to myself. Even though I've been itching to here, because there are some real nice areas in the apt complex in which I live. Though too afraid of people not watching where they're going.
Do you reseal your crew often? I've never resealed any of my dolls... is that something that should be done?

I don't really worry about people staring here...there aren't many foreigners in this area, so I get stared at anyway. I'd rather be stared at because I'm taking pictures of dolls than because I'm white! Its basically an excuse to do anything I want!

haha I know what you mean with the staring. I'm sure you get the comment of "Waiguoren" often as well? Last night some kiddos did that to my husband and me and he pointed back and said "Zhongguoren". XD They had no idea what to do or say. But you do make a good point. I'll have to see if I can muster up some courage.

 

Yup! I often hear the words "Janada" and "lauai" as well. And laughter when they say something and I don't understand. I wish I knew enough Chinese to say things back sometimes!

It's worth it to muster up some courage - you never know when you might run across another collector. I brought one of my kiddies to school to show off some knitting at our knitting club, and one of the students said, "Oh, is that a BJD? I have an SD boy at home."

 

I know what you mean. I know enough to get me in trouble. lol. But it doesnt help that they sometimes think you're fluent when you say one thing in Chinese either. ah well.

Awww that's cool! What age level do you work with? Knitting club sounds like fun. I work at an international school working with 5 year olds... so no bringing my dollies there anyway. but maybe sometime soon I'll try and take them out to at least my garden area. ^^

 

Sounds like fun. I teach in an Ontario/Chinese dual diploma program - so grades 10-12 students, most wanting to go to Canada for university. It has its moments, but its generally a lot of fun. I wish I had been able to fit more dolls in my suitcase tho...as it is I will probably have to ship some things home!

 

haha yea 5 year olds are quite an interesting group. haha. But your program sounds interesting a well. Are you teaching them English? or something else?

How many dollies were you able to take with you? I was able to bring 4, but they pretty much took up the entire space in my carry on suit case. ^^; Though they looked hilarious going through the security scanner. XD Someone asked me if I had bodies in there. lmao. Yea last time we were in China, we left so much stuff and as it was had to ship 4 huge boxes of stuff back. So I get you!

 

I'm teaching/have taught English/ESL and Math. Math is fun, cuz I get to teach Math and ESL at the same time basically.

I was able to fit 5...also taking up most of my carry on...two pukifee, a lati yellow and two little fee. Totally worth it tho. I wanted to bring my MSD, but she just wouldn't fit...I'd have loved to bring all my dolls...but 16 in a suitcase seems a little excessive, even if they are mostly tinies...

 

And nicely with math too, the numbers are universal so they can at least get some if it too if the English is a little difficult at times. ^_^ My husband is teaching Math and Science here~

Ooo! 5 is a good number. I brought a MSD, two yosds and a tiny. But yea 16 probably would have been a bit much, though would have been nice. I would have loved to bring a few more of my crew, but they're all mostly msd sized. no way they would have all fit. Tinies would have worked a little better, but hard too when you have to pack them up nice and safe. Have you ordered any new dollies since being in China? Did you have them delivered to you or back home? I'm thinking of trying to order some here and have it delivered to my school. Though I'm sure I'll get asked about the big dolly boxes.

 

Mysteriousmage Lubelle keeps ordering dolls and having them delivered home which means as well as my own crew of 17 (plus 3 incoming and a floating head) I'm quickly being overtaken by bjd's! We each have an Asleep Eidolon 1/6 boy on order, Custard for me and Adzuki Bean for her.

 

Thanks DaisyLady! I've thought about doing that too. Not sure yet. lol. Though havent had a chance to order one yet and it might be a bit. The doll I really want, I have to wait to see if the guy who makes them opens up orders again.
haha! Can't be tooo bad being overtaken by bjds. Oh!! Let me know when you get your Custard and Adzuki Bean in! Those two are ones that i've been thinking about as well for a while. Love their cute faces.

 

I'm very excited about the Adzuki Bean, and my mum's Custard - they ought to be super cute! I have had one doll delivered here - my Pipos Ringo. It was totally fine. The only problem I had was because it was from Korea a Korean student picked it up be mistake, but promptly returned it to the mail room when he realized it wasn't his. Other than that, no issues.

LOL oops! XD At least he returned it to the mail room! but glad to hear that you've had n o issues with that. Makes me feel happy, because I'm sure I'll end up ordering something and having it delivered to the school. Other than you know my 5 year olds asking what the big box is. XD

hehe thanks Lubelle! Decided Haruhi had been closetted away for too long. The first couple pictures of I took of her today, she looked sad. lol. Weird how dolls can do that some times. Only got a couple looks, but not much for staring. ^__^

 

Woohoo! Lubelle and I had a very sweet and unexpected delivery today. Our boys Ben and Colin (Custard and Adzuki Bean) were shipped on Monday and arrived today. We hadn't thought we'd see them until at least April! No clothes or wigs ready not even something to borrow as neither of us have had boys until now!

For those who have multiple AE dolls in NS, and received them at different times, would you say that the resin has varied a lot or that it's been consistent? I have a Maggie body, but I have fallen out of love with the sculpt, and am considering purchasing a Custard head in NS to go on her body, but I don't know if the resin will match.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks guys!

 

I know this is way after the fact, and maybe you've found your answers elsewhere, but I have 4 NS AE dolls, and they are all slightly different. My first, bought in early 2012, but cast in 2011, is significantly darker than another I purchased later in 2012. My MSD is quite yellowed, and second hand, so not sure. My most recent AE, from last summer, is similar in colour to the one I purchased in late 2012 - very pale. If your Maggie is relatively recent, I'd say that you are ok. Need to take some new pictures of my AE kids!

Hey guys! This thread looks kind of dead, but I just got my Chocolate (whom I named Rose) recently, and I have a question---what premade clothing fits her?? The person I got her from was nice enough to include a few pieces of clothing so she won't be naked, but I want her to have a full wardrobe. I'm used to 1/3 scale dolls where a couple of cm difference doesn't really matter, but at 16cm, she's right between by 12cm Ai Doll and 26cm IslandDoll and there are so many different tiny doll sizes, that I'm just lost. I struggle to sew for tinies, so I'd really like to support a more talented person on Etsy, if I can. XD It looks like she's about the same height as PukiFee, but chubbier. Does anyone have any experience in trying clothing made for PukiFee on AE tinies? What about Lati Yellow?

l wish I could help with your question, but I'm basically in the same boat you are. I just got an AE Pudding (Dawn), and haven't a clue what fits her. I bought an Pukifee outfit and shoes from Denver Doll, (see the picture below) but its tight. I mean, there's no way she can sit in it, and the movement of her arms is hindered by tightness of the shirt. (But, the shoes fit great!) I would love to find this little girl a resource for clothes.



I'm hoping Lubelle. who posts often in this thread, will see our posts and help us out!

 

@Rabbit-moon Awww, your girl is adorable! And thanks for that info. I did get to see a Lati Yellow yesterday at a doll meet. They are about the same height, but the Lati head is gigantic and the body is a bit thinner and shorter. I think something like a simple little A-line dress made for Lati might fit AE, but something fitted like pants or a tailored dress or tight shirt wouldn't.

 

I've given up on finding pre-made clothes that fit my Spearmint. ^^; I knitted a dress for her using a pattern for Mini American Girl dolls, but that's been about it.

@Rorek has a tiny Asleep Eidolon and a Tiny Delf, and they may be able to shed some more light too.

 

Oh! I have a mini AG Samantha, and it never even occurred to me that they could be similar sizes! I didn't consider Tiny Delf either, so that could be good to know as well.

I don't know anything about American Girl dolls, but I will definitely check them out. And, the Tiny Delf suggestion sounds promising.

 

Primarily Tiny Delf are smaller. I had to tweak patterns to make clothes for my Spearmint, and I honestly figured the two would share clothes because they are similar in size.


Also I purchased some clothes made to fit Pukifee, and they are too tight to fit my Tiny Delf or my Spearmint.

 

Thank for the info Rorek! Unfortunately, I don't know how to sew.

I recently commissioned a very nice lady on Etsy to make a pair of pants for one of my YOSD-sized dolls. Maybe I could see if she'd be willing to try her hand at making a pair of pants for my AS Pudding? I'll see what she says. Thanks again!

Hello all! I've been very busy this week and just saw the action here today! @CloakedSchemer and @Rabbit-moon - your new girls are absolutely lovely, and I wish you the best of luck at finding them clothes that fit! It can be a challenging prospect. In this album on my flickr, I have a bunch of pictures comparing a Pukifee, a Lati Yellow and my AE Donut. There are a few pictures there of all of them wearing the same dress (one from nubanded on Etsy) so you can see how the Pukifee/LY stuff tends to fit on the AE kids. Dresses tend to sit a little shorter and be a little tighter in the torso. Dresses with sleeves may be too tight. I've generally had good luck with looser sweaters, dresses, and t-shirts. Nubanded is a great source for the basics, although the leggings do not fit. My boy Max wears the pants from this Tiny Delf set as snowpants, but he can't really sit in them - this is the case with most of the Pukifee or Lati Yellow sized pants I've found. The only pants I have from a shop that my kids can sit in are MonstroDesigns leggings, and she no longer makes them in that size.

I'm not home right now, but I can take some pictures of some of the clothes I have that fit them when I get home. For now, here is the most recent picture I have of my kiddies, in a family photo of all of my dolls. They are sitting on the lap of my AE Coral, and beside my AE Adzuki Bean. Both are wearing nubanded t-shirts, Miela is wearing Monstro leggings, and Max is wearing shorts I made for him.

I had some time today, so I pulled out some of the clothes I have for 16cm tinies and tried a bunch of stuff on Miela and Max. I posted some pictures on Flickr of stuff I have that fits. Descriptions include links to etsy shops and sites where I bought the clothes. I know I missed at least one thing I have that fits - Max has a t-shirt from TTYA that fits beautifully. I don't have any of their pants in this size, so I have no idea if those would fit, but the shirts all should. Other shops where at least some items fit are YlangGarden, dollb, nubanded, MokiChan, DollinStyle, LUTS, and ClearLan. I hope this helps! I've been lucky enough that I was able to get a Pukifee as my second doll after I got Miela, and so any time I've bought something hoping it would fit Miela, I always had another doll it could go to if it didn't, so I've been able to do some trial and error.

Here's the first picture and the rest should follow.

I love the faces on Asleep Eidolon. The eyes look small and proportional to the face. But, I prefer the bodies a bit more on the Tiny 20 Delf from Luts. The struggle is so real!

Lalajulep, I agree with you. I love the face sculpts on the Asleep Eidolons tinies, too. They are so darling without the ginormous eyes that are so common to so many tinies.

Are are you planning to hybrid an Asleep Eidolon and Tiny 20 Delf? That would be cool!

As for myself, I got a dress for Rose from Etsy. They're from the shop DollProject and she wears a size 3, meant for Lati Yellow and similar, but the dresses aren't already made, they're just printed onto knit fabric, and you cut them out and sew them yourself, so you can add an extra mm or two in there. I really didn't need to add any extra at all, due to how the dress fits and it is stretchy. For $10 and shipping, you get two dresses, a pair of socks and a plush, all you need is needle and thread and some stuffing for the toy. They carry lots of prints, and I want them all now. haha They're very easy to put together, even for beginners, and do come with detailed instructions.

OH! I hadn't even thought of that!...I wonder how close the resin matches...

 

I've seen hybrids of Lati heads with both AE and LUTS bodies, so you would think the match would be good, but looking at my newest AE (NS) beside my NS TDF centaur, the AE is more of a pink tone, while the LUTS is more yellow. I think the white skin would probably work tho. I don't have great light at the moment, or I'd take a picture for you.

 

Does anyone have photos of the custard doll?

 

While I don't have a Custard myself, my mum @DaisyLady has one. I'm sure she will be happy to share a picture as soon as she sees this.

I have Custard. He doesn't have a name right now or a character. I had been expecting a taller body but AE of course changed to a smaller, more petite body without notification so he didn't really work for the character I had in mind.
