Hi, I am going to buy 60cm Red Grape girl soon and I wonder what clothes will fit?

When I opened her box, I was surprised to find she came with the newer, larger bust piece (not the one pictured on most of the 1/3 girl's pages). Just an FYI for anyone thinking of pre-ordering a 1/3 girl, this bust piece seems to be the new default.

Hi, CajjoChan. I wish I could be more helpful, but my girl doesn't have a big wardrobe...I do know that K2 sells clothes that fit. You can find their stuff at MoC. Again, I don't know how helpful that'll be, because MoC might not ship to Sweden. Have you asked the dealer what will fit? They might know better than I.

CajjoChan, K2 makes clothing for dolls. Mint on Card has other brands that might fit too, but I don't think they ship internationally anymore?

I'm so excited my Jr Yara head will be here soon! I do have a question though, how well do the Jr. Bodies pose? I wanted to go for another company, but I don't know what would match. And at least the AE body should match.

Hello, quiet Asleep Eidolon thread! I was wondering if any of the mermaid owners had opted for the lovely orange resin. I did a search through the forums and found plenty of pictures of the light pink, some aqua and that pretty dark blue, but I'd love to see more owner pics of the different colored parts before I make a decision! I'm also interested in seeing some non-default faceups on them.

I used to own an AE Peppermint (wrong size for this thread, I know) and I just have to say that I'm looking forward to owning a doll from this company again. Though I sold my AE tiny because the size wasn't right for me, I loved the quality of the resin and the normal skin was a lovely tone. I haven't decided whether to get my Lorelei in WS or normal, though, because she's supposed to be ethereal but I get bored of having too many WS dolls around. Too pale!

 

I'm sending Hannah (my Lorelei) off to get her face up done! And her wig should be home soon! I can't wait to have her completed.

I currently have no spam-worthy pictures to be spammed.

I am somewhat puzzled over the apparent unpopularity of AE...Yara and Xun get the most love of the 1/3 scale sculpts, but I can't say they really seem common at all when compared to popular sculpts from other companies. My Kina appears to be the only one on DoA, and a search on Flickr also came up empty. Even a Google image search turned up nothing but the promo photos from AE and MoC!

I wonder if these dolls are really so unpopular, or if maybe they just don't have many owners in the English-speaking BJD communities?

 

Redfaery, I have wondered this myself. The msd size seem to be more popular than the sd. I have three mini AE dolls, Cordelia and both Yara's. There are a few of the newer SD sculpts that I like the look of. What do you think of the body? I really like the newest 1/4 body; I wonder if the 1/3 is similar?

 

My problem with the 1/3 AE dolls is the body, unfortunately. My poor Xun would get a lot more love if he were easier to pose and had a greater range of head movement. As is, he just hangs around looking pretty for the most part.

Lenoire is so pretty, peppercrushes! She has such a sweet face. It's a pity that there aren't more of her sculpt around, that's for sure.

 

Thanks for the compliments, kirika! I think what attracted me to Asleep Eidolon as a company was their really sweet-looking sculpts... Makes me wonder why it's such an underrated company? The only thing that bugs me (at least from my personal experience) is how difficult it is to get my girl's joints working They don't really like to move, and they make these incredibly loud cracking noises that scare me to death!

 

Haha! I know what you mean! The girl bodies have similar issues to the boys, huh? AE dolls definitely have a squeaky resin issue. Their limited range of motion is what bugs me the most, though. It's sad, because their bodies actually look really nice.

 

I don't know about their posability or bodies, but I live very close to Mint on Card's storefront, and the AE sculpts are so beautiful in person! I have no idea how people can look at the factory pics of girls like Solstice, Mignon, and Snow and not go crazy! Why are these dolls not more popular? The old AE girl's body really *IS* a terrible poser, but it's the lack of head movement that drives me nuts, personally. Heart's neck can really only hold two poses - straight ahead and straight down! Sometimes I can coax her to turn her head sideways, or even look down at an angle, but not always. Still, it's such a beautifully sculpted body....very nice curves.

I have no experience with the older boy bodies, but I'd say that Bren (Sachiel) is actually a decent poser. Not as good as Silfe (Dollzone 68cm) or Heart's younger self, Joren (Fairyland Littlefee)...but he holds poses as well as any of the other dolls I've had. Comparing Bren to Heart, I can tell that their joints are constructed differently. Bren's resin also has a nicer, more toothy feel to it, while Heart's resin is very smooth. It almost feels like it's hard plastic instead of resin.

 

That's unfortunate My girl's head doesn't really have many issues in terms of holding a pose or moving. It's mainly her knee joints that bug me the most. When I try to get the double joint to work, I actually have to manually put pressure on the resin parts to separate them before she can get her knee to bend that far. Plus one leg was casted a little weirdly so the knee line doesn't quite fit right :/ I do love the shape of the body though, and I really like how silky smooth and seamless her resin is. It's not really something I'm used to since my last doll was from FairyLand and their resin has quite a bit of tooth to it in comparison.

Also Redfaery, just saw your post on the AE Database thread! Are you planning on giving Heart a faceup soon?

 

LOL, peppercrushes, I hope I'll get her one soon...right now I'm waiting on more purity seal to come in the mail. I don't think I have enough. She arrived August 2011, and she's never really had one. Mostly because I was having such a hard time figuring out who she is. I'm getting a better idea now, though.

Your issues with the knee joints sounded like when I first got Heart. I actually cracked her kneecap trying to bend her leg! AE sent me a replacement for it, free. If you just got her, I'd say it's probably the stringing. Heart came strung horribly tight, and was very stiff until she loosened up.

 

Peppercrushes, thank you for posting the picture of your Solstice, she is one of the sculpts I was interested in!

I find it interesting the issues with the 1/3 body; so far I have had none with the newest 1/4. I was hoping they would be similar in construction. I noticed on MOC that there is a 58cm and a 60 cm body. I wonder if one is newer and if they have changed anything joint wise?

 

From what I've seen from other people, the 58cm body and the mini body are pretty similar in construction. The 60cm body's a pretty recent development and I haven't seen any owner pictures of it so far :/ but judging from the company pictures, it doesn't seem too different from the older 58cm body aside from a change in chest piece and proportions. Hopefully they've done some joint redesigning so it's not as difficult to pose ^^;

 

I wouldn't be suprised if they'd done some joint redesigning on the 60cm body; my Sachiel's joints are pretty different from Heart's joints.

 

The joints look pretty similar in the pictures; hopefully somebody on DOA will turn up with one of the 60 girls. It will be awhile before I can buy another doll anyway...

I think Dolly has a sweet face also and she comes on the 60cm body. I think she is one of the newest sculpts.

So...anyone else squealing over the new 1/6 mermaids they now have out. Too bad they are limited. If I get the money I'm getting the Mamie or Cordelia-SP (More the Mamie though), she is just too adorable. Sad thing is, I already have two other dolls on pre-order...who said I was not a junkie though lol. I'd actually try to make the Mamie into a boy like I did with my Xaga Doll Nono...I just don't know what color tail I should get if I'm able to order. I liked the gold tail and parts for a while but now I'm second thinking it. It's between the blue, gold, and purple...no pink -_-. I also need a name (Ocean names). I have a hard time finding names for specific dolls that I really want sometimes, this is how I know I will become very attached to them. I wanted to hop into this thread sense it's been quite for a while (I can tell lol). This would be my first doll from Asleep Eidolon ^-^.

 

Just thought I'd toss my AE Silver Dew into the mix! I'm having a hard time finding her eyes that have low enough domes. Does anyone else have this problem or is it just the Silver Dew Sculpt?

 

Question...my AE Lorelei wears 14mm but I just found some 12mm eyes I really like. Has anyone used 12mm eyes in their girls?

 

roguegirl9929: I haven't tried 12mm, but I'm pretty sure it would be too small. 14mm is actually a little bit small in mine, and I think AE and MoC recommend 16mm?

Heart also has a faceup now. I'm so happy with it, even though it's much less detailed than my other dolls' faceups. There didn't really seem to be a point in lower lashes, since her upper ones would've been right on top of them, and it would've just looked cluttered. I didn't add detail to her brows, either. They kept coming out too hairy.

Heart's character has such lovely, full eyebrows - a la Audrey Hepburn - I was having an awful time trying to translate that onto Heart-the-doll's face. The Kina sculpt is very soft and sweet-looking, like she's lost in a dream. Whenever I tried to give her those full, strong brows, they just overpowered her face. I'm somewhat embarrassed that I didn't think to just do them in a lighter color...

 

No. They recommend 14mm. And that's currently what she's wearing. 16 would be way too big on her. Has anyone tried 12mm?

 

I checked, and you're right about Lorelei's eyes. That's a surprise to me, because 16mm was recommended for my Kina. I guess it's because she's an older sculpt?

Anyway, I checked a pair of 12mm in my Sachiel. They are indeed too small, though I'd say it's just enough to be noticeable.

 

Has anyone else tried 12mm?

Here is my Sachiel wearing a 12mm glass eye from MoC in his right eye (your left). His default blue acrylic is in his left eye. I'm still somewhat puzzled as to why MoC recommends 14mm and not 16mm. It appears that his default is indeed a 16mm and not a 14mm. To illustrate this, I've lined up some eyeballs. The brown eye on the far left is a 16mm eyeco acrylic. His other default acrylic eyeball is immediately next to it. They're clearly the exact same size. Next to the two 16mm is a 14mm green acrylic. It's smaller than his default, but it looks better in him than the 16mm. Maybe that's why they recommend it? Still, his default eyes were definitely 16mm, which is odd to me. The pink glass eyeball on the far right is the other 12mm.

Not really because my girl came with 14mm. 16mm are way too big. Hence why I want to see a Lorelei with 12mm. I'll probably just risk it.

 

Hannah's wig came today. She still doesn't have the eyes I want her to have and the picture is shite because I took it on my phone but still....here's the first glimpse.

 

In my search to find an SD girl, I almost bought one of these lovely girls today! My friend talked me out of it... since it was a rash decision. However, I have put her on my wish list! She is Mignon And the Character's name is Selina. To my wishlist she goes!!

Hey DuskBlue! I don't, but I've got a Silver Dew. I love the construction of the bodies and the range of poses you can get out of the newer girl body. You would be disappointed if you get one! I waited a few months before committing to mine.

 

Here's a picture of Joren/Heart with her best friend and soulmate, Silfe. I'm really pleased with her wig. I was having a horrible time finding one that just looked right for her....and this one is perfect.

Sorry if this is a repeat but... I was noticing that Asleep Eidolon offical photos show the head caps having a seal or stamped company logo on them. Mine doesn't and was wondering if maybe that was only on the newer or just the older ones. I searched the forums and didn't spot my question but if I missed it I'm sorry and please re-direct me!
