I really like Evan and Xun. I don't need any more SD boys though XD But they're soooo pretty... And AE pretty much owns my wallet right now anyways... Hmm.

I really hope to see them without faceups at some point... Hopefully we'll see owner pictures whenever they start arriving at their new homes!

 

I can't believe there isn't more squealing for Xun. I can only imagine that not enough people really seen the new dolls. They are a bit different from what Eidolon usually puts out.

 

Does anyone know about resin matches for AE? I have a body that I need a new head for, but can't find any references to resin matches.

I was just wondering why the sculpt wasn't generating more buzz. Especially since other similar sculpts tend to get more attention.

I am just imagining all the possibilities with him already...

cirquemom - You're welcome (And thanks about my name, hee). I totally understand. The only reason I knew they existed was because I was looking for them a while back! So I dug around.

Xun kind of in a weird way reminds me of what I've seen of the Elfdolls. I think they (at least the Elfdoll girls) have a very "Asian" aesthetic. But you don't really see that with most companies, do you? I think that specific look in this... um, intensity? I can't think of the right word... obvious-ness? I don't know. But I think that specific look is a little rarer than some.

I wonder how he'd look as a girl... Not as a girly man but as a girl... Hmm. :3 *likes girls* nn;;

 

That's exactly what I thought. I have a body with a head I wouldn't mind replacing, but sadly, looks like the resins wouldn't match. I love that head, though (but as a girl- I like manly men, lol!). I have two very masculine-looking Asian boys- Elfdoll Mir and Lumedoll Saiph. I also have the lovely Soah, and a Shinydoll Nanae on a 50 cm Obitsu body (and it works perfectly and the skintones match very well), and a Souldoll Apple. I'm planning on getting the new Resinsoul Li as soon as she comes out because she is so Asian-looking.

It says the head measures 24 cm- I wonder if it would be too big for the girl body?

I just had a display of my dolls at the Arts Center here for Christmas, and was talking to some people about why most of the ASIAN ball-jointed dolls are Caucasian-looking. I pointed out that most of the characters in anime and manga have big round eyes. I think the more Asian-looking dolls are probably more popular among collectors in USA and Europe than they are in Asia.

 

Xun isn't my taste (I'm not personally a fan of narrow noses) but I'm in love with the promo Xun's face up

I think he looks like a really 'authentic' Yaoi character

cirquemom - 24cm vs. 22.5cm... Depending on the look you want, Xun might look terribly bobbleheaded on the girl AE body... (Isn't even the type B fairly petite?) but you might be able to put him on a different company's girl body! The Delf girls have a 24cm head too, and even if that isn't the body you want it does mean that there are bodies that are made for that size of a head and are still girls.

 

Oh...I have a Lishe, so I'll have to measure her head and see how big it is. The Customhouse bodies are on the larger side and I'm sure the head would look good on that body (and I betcha the resin would be a good match), but I don't think i want to go through that 8 months of uncertainty again. I wish AE would just do a girl version of the Xun head- it's so lovely.

I must say I used to like AE sculpts but seeing their new sculpts... WOW. I really like many of them, especially LE Mint (love the mouth!) and Xun (who is just so Asian and dreamy)~ I wonder if Mint comes in the boy version? xD

:3 She's strung a little tight but I prefer my dolls tighter rather than looser so it doesn't bother me... she'll loosen up a bit as I play with her, and I am greatly enjoying her.

Hi Mello, I can't tell... Taobao prices tend to be far lower than dealers, but unless you speak Chinese and have access to the cards used to pay there, you have to add in agents' fees and postage from the agent. It still works out a lot cheaper if you're outside the US and shipping from a dealer in the US is too much. But that still seems awfully cheap for a full doll... AE 1/3 dolls are $333 from the Hong Kong dealer and the shop in Hong Kong, and I'd expect that to be about as low as it gets. Unfortunately my Chinese only extends to about 200 characters, I really can't tell!

 

could you tell me more about this? im located in germany so buying from the american dealer isnt really an option for me. i also have a friend whos chinese. which cards are used to pay there? and which agents are you talking about? mintoncard or other agents?

 

I get really jealous of Americans and Canadians with their easy access to dealers! If I get an AE doll for my birthday ( a real possibility as I fell in love with them in Hong Kong) it will need to be either from Hong Kong or taobao.

OK, by agents, I mean people/companies who make money by buying things from taobao on behalf of people from outside China. They charge about 10% of what the items total + shipping from the seller to them costs, plus paypal fees, and then when they have the item, you pay them EMS, which is usually pretty heavily discounted. (A 2.5kg box cost me $35 EMS when I lived in the UK). A lot of taobao sales you would need either a Chinese bank card or a prepaid card from a postoffice, and a lot of sellers only send to Chinese addresses, plus unless you read Chinese an agent is a big help, so agents are necessary.

I used http://www.taobaobuying.com/ and they were seriously helpful about asking questions and communicating between me and the sellers, especially when there was a delay in the manufacture of my doll shoes, and sent pictures before sending to me, so I can recommend them, but there are others that I am sure are just as good. yoybuy have a cost estimator, as far as I can see this AE SD doll straight from AE would cost $402 INCLUDING all EMS shipping and fees to Germany from yoy.buy - which does suggest that the other is just a head, yes. It might cost a little more in practice because Paypal conversion fees are horrendous, and it would have to convert from CNY to dollars and then to Euros instead of just dollars to Euros.

It might also be worth looking into the Hong Kong dealer I linked to above - I forgot to ask her if she ships internationally when I was in her shop, but she might be a cheaper choice (I am assuming that the $20 shipping she charges is only locally) than getting one from the US.

 

I didn't see the HK dealer on the official AE site, are you certain she's legit? If she is trustworthy then it's very convenient for me, as HK to UK shipping is so fast ^^

 

Until mid February (I think) US dealer Mint on Card is allowed to sell to people in the EU, because the European dealer Chantal's Doll Alley is moving and can't take orders until then. After that you can buy from Doll Alley again, which is in the Netherlands and will mean cheaper shipping to Germany.
The above is an option if finding another agent doesn't work out.

 

I have ordered Xun with faceup. I might remove the faceup, but the winter event of a $10 faceup was too good to pass up.

I adore that Xun is so feminine-looking. Most of the time I'm wishing a female head mold would be released on a male body. It's nice to get exactly what I want. Though, with all the clamor for a Xun girl, I'm sure it is just a matter of time before AE releases a Xun girl.

I'm a bit confused because I saw in this thread pictures of "Mu", but she doesn't seem to be on the Mint on Card website... who is she ?? She's very pretty.

I want a girl for sure, but I don't know which one ! I think that AE dolls look very different on owner pictures and on official pictures (not less pretty, however...). So I keep being unable to decide which is my favorite ! I'd like to see pictures of Mignon and Miriam.

 

Mu is a limited edition girl came out 2 years ago. She's limited to total of 30 global and will not be reproduced. If you want one you need to look for her with others who are willing to sell their doll.

I keep cruising this thread hoping to see some pictures of Xun. He's so beautiful. Has anyone ordered him yet?

 

Rabbit-moon, I caved and placed an order for a Xun, after dithering for some time. However, Mint on Card submits orders once every three or so months, and the next order period submission is 6th April. With a 12-15 week wait, that puts him here in July? Disappointing to have to wait so long for a picture. But I'll do my best to put one up once he arrives.

Unless you're taking the plunge and we can post together.

Xun is intensely beautiful and lush ... almost decadent ... prone to hedonism, perhaps? The eyes and those full lips slay me.

 

I ordered Xun a long time ago. And ironically, he should be arriving at right about the same time! I think I should get him around June/July.

 

Never mind. I was searching Asleep Eidolon and didn't notice that this was size-specific.

 

I'm thinking of ordering Solstice.....the only thing that bugs me is that since I missed the recent order date, it could be 6 months until I get her......
