@Almalexan - Hot damn those masks are great! @AlisonVonderland - I really love your use of unusual colors for your paintings! @SteamWitch - Great photo-manipulations! @Mirrin - What amazing costumes! @cowpewter - I'm loving your paintings, isn't it amazing how the tips and tricks learned in classes help? @Inquisitorrio - Those are some really fun paintings! I got some new stuff to show too! Some traditional, and one digital! First up my digital piece of my character Val. He's so hard to draw for me! Watercolor painting (on mixed media paper, which was the wrong choice) And two traditionally inked drawings, one was an art trade (sent the recipient the original) and the other I drew for fun. Both were done with brush and india ink!
I love your mermaids! And i love the watercolor, looks good to me. But then i haven't done much with it before.
Ollie, my new monster baby Here is my boy, Ollie I just finished him last night. He's about the size of a quarter and he's made of Sculpey and Fimo.
@IzabethS The girl in red ink is cool. I love that over the shoulder look. Nice hair, too! @Magnus Vale Fion is cute, especially his nose and lips. I like how you combined the pinks of his outfit with the bold reds of his hairy parts. I have recently discovered Japanese flower making clay for sculpting figurines. It seems I've finally found a material that works for me. Here are some of the figures I made My first figure and her pet sheep Cloud Walker by Evie ex Machina, on Flickr Next was a chibi astronaut Hello My Dear Planet by Evie ex Machina, on Flickr A working girl with props Girl from the Sea by Evie ex Machina, on Flickr And a more mature figure of a shaman hare Moon Shaman by Evie ex Machina, on Flickr
Thank you! I have a couple more now that I'll share shortly! Ollie is super neat! Good job on him! Fion looks amazing! Very well drawn! Thank you for the compliment on my inking work! I tend to use a tiny brush, which helped me get better at controlling my face up linework too! I absolutely love your figures, they are so beautiful and well made! I used to dabble a little into sculpting, but it's been a long long time... Some new art from me:
@IzabethS Thank you! I used to struggle a lot with sculpting even though I've made my own BJDs. Materials seemed either to hard, too soft, too slow and whatnot for my style of working. This clay is a great relief and I can finally fully enjoy the sculpting process … Your new art looks good! I must admit, I'm more drawn towards traditional techniques and more "simple" drawings atm. I've looked at so much sophisticated digital concept art - guess my eyes need a bit of a rest. I like how your characters look so optimistic and fun.
@evie the kid thank you! I've been returning to my roots of playing with traditional media. I used to only draw digital, but sometimes I just itch to paint with a brush! I really need to draw more...
I also am pretty embarrassed to show off my artwork, but eeekk.. I am a huge fan of cartoonism. Although I am able to do realism and a plethora of other more "conventional" or "trendy" styles, there's nothing I adore more than just drawing some old fashion cartoons! (In my style of course)!
I've been playing the L5R tabletop RPG as a one-man army of my primary dolls, Adhara and Guórén (well, they have different use names there, but their personalities are nigh identical to their "canon" forms). I recently managed to storyboard an entire session, not exactly a walk in the park! Storyboarding L5R Session 02 by Yela Gatchalian-David, on Flickr
Nice work, @AntarelNefertili ! Looks very L5R-ish... and probably better than my work when I first started doing art for the ccg (although I started ages ago with the first set. After more artists were doing digital and were getting hired from all over the world, competition was harder).
Thank you! Wow, you actually worked on the older CCG! I'm glad my own personal take was still recognizable as L5R.
So, mine's a bit different. Apparently I like potentially dangerous art... GWbeads (2) by Stefaninafla, on Flickr Molten glass is fun!
Everyone is so amazing, I really adore all the creativity! @evie the kid your sculptures are magical and inspiring! I love the cloud walker girl SO MUCH. It's been several years since I've added my art, here are some updates! I GOT MARRIED!!! and am still spooooooky... and still love dollies! I also have some animation on my website: juliannemay.com and more on my insta
Congrats on getting married! I hope that you two settle into married life swimmingly!! New art from me: Spoiler: Mild gore warning (blood)
I drew my avatar, ages ago. But for some of my more recent things I've made some speedpaints on Youtube: I tend to ramble as a warning? Aside from that I have a DA that's 90% adoptables right now.
I made these beaded bracelets a few years ago but my granddaughter had me pull them out and send photos to her since she is stuck at college. Handmade bracelets by SteamWitch, on Flickr Right now my boy Color is wearing the one on the left as a necklace.
This is my latest doodle. I've been having trouble actually sitting down to DO art lately. I was thinking of doing that prompt going around of drawing 6 fanarts. Anyone care to give me some characters to draw? Full disclosure, I probably won't draw anything from an ip I am not familiar with - and.... I probably wouldn't finish anything at all anyway - that's how bad doing art has been for me. But I'd still like some suggestions!
I have A LOT of Pokemon fan art posted here Buy Che Gilson a Coffee. ko-fi.com/chegilson As well as other things. But Pokemon...
Everyone here is so good! I see quite a few bjd collectors are very artistically inclined. I was actually curious to know if such a thread existed on Den of Angels, and I'm glad one does as I like to make art myself. Lots of fan art: T elos KDA Ahri Serra Sphinx Akroma
@Veridia - Your work is great! Such pretty clean lines!! I should post some art again, I haven't been terribly arty lately, but that might change sooner than later. Eh, what the heck, have some art!
reference page for my DnD rogue (including my attempts at making him look as undignified as possible). He's very handsome and also just a complete disaster.
I work in too many different mediums. I've been an illustrator, author, and videogames artist professionally. And for fun (and sometimes profit) I draw comics and make my own videogames. It's, uh, easy to find if you search my name XD I haven't updated my art site in ten years (ouch) but the last update still makes me laugh. Here's my silly fanart of Ryu from Street Fighter!
I've been doing art ever since i was old enough to dip my fingers into paint and smear it on paper. I am ot GREAT but I've come to a point where I am happy with my art, and even take commissions. Here are two OCs i plan on making into dolls, and some DBZ fanart.
I have never called myself an artist but I do draw as a hobby artist. Right now I try to focus on a style where I can represent my characters. Both my doll characters and other various ideas and design. it would be so much fun to make some sort of an artbook with both drawings and bjd combined! This drawing and my profile picture is a doll character I have at home. She does not look entirely like her Bjd sculpt, but that matters not to me. I love her the way she is and I like to draw her this way :3 nuela by Eyulv Arts, on Flickr
I took a long break from personal artworks due to... certain circumstances. However, I'm slowly getting my groove back on again. Open Fields by Yela Gatchalian-David, on Flickr They are actually the characters of my two primary dolls. Me and my Photoshop, again. This one was fun, well they are all fun but you know, the new shiny thing.... dragon1 by SteamWitch, on Flickr
Hello friends and fellow artists - I was wondering if we could start an artist thread here (in addition to this one which is mostly for showing off arts) that's more about discussion and and progress and just artists talking about their arts. Because I really miss having an art community. There's a writing thread, I feel like there could an art thread too. Anyway it was just an idea, and I wanted to see if there was interest before starting an actual thread. In keeping with this thread, here is an art. I used my BJD to model XD He does a good unconscious pose. Nevermind for some reason it won't post anymore.
Yes please, I'd like to see that too @VampireAngel13. I think Brigadoon makes a great place for that. Do it and we will come!
I am enamored with all the beautiful dolls created on this site but haven't seen a thread about art. (If I missed it I am sorry, still trying to navigate these forums and discussion). I do black ink illustrations of girls with big hats, and would love to see what everyone else does!
The crosshatching is beautiful here! You are so talented!! I am not really creative enough to come up with art that tells such a story I do play the flute and piano but I don't know if that can really be called art
I run a coloring blog on tumblr (my icon is actually one of the colors I uploaded!) but I'm not too great at a ton of art things. ot yet anyway.
There is a thread to show off art - /threads/artists-of-all-kinds-show-your-work.690336/ I was planning on creating a second thread for artists to discuss their art (much like the writers thread) but there was only a little interest and I got to busy to deal with it.
The flute and piano are definitely an art form! It's taken a long time to get to the point of telling a store ! Thank you so much (Thank you Admin for finding and moving my art to this thread! )
Not that I think anyone here would want to read my work, but: there's a writing thread? How have I never seen this?
there is! I stalk it sometimes since my medium of choice is comics, which requires me to write. /threads/any-other-writers-want-to-complain-about-writing.812645/
It's nice to see some new activity here! Your piece is lovely @Sylvanfire!! I have a lot of new work to show for this year so far: Lines were done 2020, but the color was added this year (2021) My cat Jhana in watercolor My cat Siegfried in watercolor Spoiler: Spoilered for nudes (nothing to see though) I'm actually really proud of this piece! Just to get to finishing the lineart took 7 hours, mainly because I was really indecisive with the sketch and so I found some references to solidify the concept This one is inspired by some photos I took of jellyfish For this one the gold shines in real life And this one is simply titled "So Rot" (So Red), based on a song of the same title by Subway to Sally
This are wonderful! I love your use of color. I kept trying to do color... From watercolor, to markers, to chalk... But I always felt it took something away. And then I would get frustrated. So I have started to stick with black ink illustrations and it makes me so much happier. I'm right now slowly working on building illustrations to potential turn into a tarot deck. I want to show people some of the art so bad but my partner is a Kickstarter expert and wants me to hold of until launch. It's so hard lol.
Thank you so much! I used to just do black and white ink drawings, or otherwise monochromatic, which was a lot of fun. I've recently been trying to challenge myself more with pushing my colors, especially in traditional mediums. The tarot deck sounds like quite the undertaking, but it will totally be worth it!
So I've had a lot of issues lately with Flickr just not posting my photos...the last pic I tried posting here never worked at all and I got really frustrated and just deleted it. Anyway, I'm going to try and post again, so hopefully it works.... I got sucked into "the 100 day project" and it finally got me to start working on a new comic (I've been trying off and on for years but nothing stuck) and I'd love to share some of the pages - none of them are 100% done. I've yet to add any text (I have it written, I just haven't put it all in yet), and I'm still waffling on whether or not I should do it in color or bw. The old one I had one in bw, and I'd love to try color...but dwelling on it was taking more time and I wanted to move on so, currently it's mostly bw. Some in color because I am trying to use some of what I'd done in the past and still liked! Incorporating old stuff into new is kind of fun XD Some of the most recent pages - hope they post! Untitled by Vampire Angel13, on Flickr Untitled by Vampire Angel13, on Flickr Untitled by Vampire Angel13, on Flickr I've been doing everything via my iPad on adobe fresco aided by PS on my desktop. I also changed my style, I used to draw in a more manga style - like my avatar (but I changed my original style to that, so really I'm just relearning how to draw the way I used to way back in the day - which was a lot of scribbles)
Those are great! I completely understand the frustration with Flickr, I ended up using a link to my Reddit post for the pictures. I like your style, but I completely understand how a style changes (sometimes through active engagement) but even just with practice and age. There are things I used to draw and be in love with but in time have adapted and changed the styling. Keep sharing would always love to see more!
Thank you! I'm glad they're still showing I kind of switched to a manga-inspired style when I was writing/drawing the characters I felt fit it better, if that makes sense. Also, I had been using Clip Studio as my digital medium (only it was still Manga Studio back in that day), and it....didn't mesh with my actual drawing style. I'm using adobe fresco and photoshop (via my iPad) now, and it's like drawing on paper! so it looks more like how I draw. Plus, lots of fun brushes for me to play with! (I literally use a ball point pen brush the most XD ) Page 2 (1) by Vampire Angel13, on Flickr The pic that sent me into endless frustration. Hopefully it stays this time. also the model I used to draw it. He loves to pose. Drawing model by Vampire Angel13, on Flickr Ignore the cat hair on the rug. I have cats, and one is black and white...so his hair shows up on everything.
hand-drawn art from nearly 20 years ago, of "Tenchi Muyo!" 's Ayeka Jurai, one of my first Anime crushes; and my first ever Anime doll, dating back to around the same period;
Ahhh everyone's art is so good ;; I draw mostly pretty boys lmao. Use to stick with just pencil, but got into digital the past few years. Though, pretty sure I have more unfinished works than finished... Here's the full version of my avatar, who is an OC of mine (and the character I took my username from lol). I had to resize it, since the original is too large for DoA, but I'll include the full size link. ^^ (link for full size)
My recent sketch, practicing male human (copy of Ingres's Paganini). I realized that his head is a bit small after finishing it lol
