Are you at the point where this it for collecting? Have you hit your doll limit?

Aug 9, 2023

    1. I am not there yet for BJD I have a fairy small collection of only 3 dolls .

    2. I thought I had, but then... I changed my mind. LOL. I am now revamping a lot of my older dolls as well as welcoming in a couple new ones. In time I may sell some of them to bring the number down again, but we shall see. With tinies, one can own a lot of them without ever taking up much space. Some of my big dolls will now just be heads because I don't have a ton of space, so I am putting them as heads on display stands.

    3. Yes and no. There’s still a few dolls I want & I know myself well enough to know that there’s going to be a day when I decide to get more, regardless of how I feel now. That said, I’m a bit overwhelmed by my collection & just the amount of stuff I own in general, so I’ve become much more selective. I’d like to not increase the size of my collection by much- downsizing would actually be preferable- so I’m inclined to loosely do a “one in, one out” for any sizes larger than a mature tiny.

    4. Not yet! At this moment I have two dolls (both boys), and another boy I'm waiting for. I intend on having a girl doll at some point as well. I don't think I'll hit my doll limit (5) for a while yet :XD:

    5. I hit the point where I had more dolls than I could pay attention to a long time ago. 4 of 12 that take up my full attention and I adore these 4 more than the rest. I don't want to sell any but I'm sure I'll buy a couple more in the future regardless of running out of attention and space.

    6. I feel like I'm good for now. Bought my most recent doll in January of last year and I'm satisfied with my collection.

    7. Emotionally? No way! There's so many dolls and sculpts that still call out to me, even if it's not in an omg-I-have-to-buy-this-now way. I have at least three more characters I'd like to shell, and Loongsoul keeps coming out with gorgeous fullsets, and and and....

Physically, though? :sweat If I get even one more doll I'm going to have to dangle them from my ceiling in one of those hanging plant pots.

    8. I think I'm getting close. I'm sure I'll get more Fairyland at some point, but I've started selling dolls I'm not as attached to and have enough coming in that I expect to not get many more at least for a while.

    9. I'm good. There are two or three dolls still on my wish list, and I may snap them up if I come across them, but there's nothing I "have to have". (Famous last words, now I *know* some company will come out with something irresistible.)

@Youzen - I love your plant pot idea. :sweat

    10. When I discovered these dolls back in the earlier years at around 2003, I knew I didn't want more than ten of them. I stopped at around seven/six (I sold the body of one of them, so I kind of still count that one as a "doll," although not complete!). I got one last year, which I consider to be my last, but I hadn't purchased dolls since 2010 when I reached the seventh one. I don't feel like I'll be getting more, ever, unless Granado makes their mature male tinies with 3-piece torsos, and wider necks. Otherwise, I'm pretty certain I won't be purchasing anymore. I was never a fan of resin, and I can't say I grow fonder of it over the years -- I was also never that interested in the aesthetics, although they have evolved into certain amounts of realism. My preference will always be actual 1:6 scale action figures, when it comes to articulated humanoid toys not only for the articulation but also and mostly due to aesthetics and plastics used for those, so I think I'm better off in many ways not wanting more resin toys that will not age as slowly as my PVC/ABS toys will. (:

I have seven complete dolls right now after twenty years of knowing of these dolls, and nine floating heads, with no plans to add any more resin in the toreable future. I kind of wish I would have stopped sooner, although I won't sell nor actually regret the resin dolls/heads I do own, I am not a fan of resin in the very least, and it does bother me every time I think about it. ^.^;; Watch me get another one in ten more years, if I'm still alive and kicking....lol!

    11. I believe I am quite close. I may (or may not) place an order of 2 more dolls soon and that will be it. If I ever find my grail I will make room for him too. But I dont think that will happen.

      For now however, too many kiddos to look after and make clothing for ;w;
I wanna focus on them before I buy the "last" two.

    12. I won't ever say "that's it, I'm done", because this hobby has a way of making you eat your words.

I came back to BJDs in late 2022 (after around 10 years of hiatus where I stored my dolls away and never looked at them once), and kinda went crazy this year with buying new dolls. I began 2023 with 3 dolls, and I'm likely to end the year with 7 dolls and 1 floating head. More than double what I started with! To me, this is a lot of resin!

Currently, I feel quite contented with the dolls I bought... 7-8 dolls feels like enough dolls/characters to make a nice family and tell plenty of stories. The thought of buying yet more resin has become rather distasteful, actually. I hope this means I'm done for the time being. Not sure how long "the time being" is - I hope it's a long time.

    13. I thought 30 was it, but now have over 50.

I adjusted my thinking and instead of looking at the total number of BJDs I look at the number within each size/grouping.

My house was already full of other types of doll before I discovered BJDs, and acquisition of those others han't stopped, I just added BJDs to the mix, so perhaps I have a higher bar than some others might...?

    14. Almost there. I own about 10 SDs and a bunch of tinies, including several Granado 30s (they are adorable!), no 1/4 dolls though. I want another SD and an MSD and that will be it. I guess. How I decide when enough is enough? I ask myself 3 questions:
      1. Can I keep my attention on all of my dolls knowing their names, back stories and current relationships?
      2. Can my doll space hold all of them so they sit/stand more or less comfortably where I can see them?
      3. If I decide to move house will I be able to take all of my dolls with me?
Each "no" means it's time to think about changing something.
Sometimes it's hard to stick to such a rational approach to such an emotional hobby, but it helps :)

    15. I hope I'm never done. There is so much joy in working towards a new doll, dreaming up new characters and ideas, and I hope I never reach an end to that. I think I'm slower than most people at acquiring them though (it can take me years to "finish" a doll :sweat). And I expect I will decide to let some go again at some point. It's all part of the journey :)

    16. I can't be sure I can ever say I am done. I know at some point, maybe in five years. At my age it's all about one's health to enjoy the dolls not just have them collect dust. I have 1 planned soon as head is available and I have a head that looks like he will never get a body; I am to picky. I have 5 resin ones and 2 Smart Dolls. I have 2 dolls on layaway right now with both being paid off in Sept and hopefully arrive in Dec. I also have one I thought I could pass on as have 3 from company that are unique on own, but this one will be offered in a darker skin. So looks like another kid cousin. But then I have to stop adding as face ups and clothing will be taking any funds here. Once I know the health is getting bad or that I have to cut down, will pick 3-4 and all the stuff for photos and the other dolls and clothes will go away and I will just play with the ones I know I have to pass on to family.

    17. No, possibly never will get to that point, but I am at a point where I am fine with waiting to buy second hand now or being more choosy with my doll purchases. I'm began selling some dolls off which I kind of regret. I never played with them before selling them off to new homes. They were all brand new in their box coffins. I have like over 10+ dolls. I don't think I will stop anytime soon unless I'm forced to or have to for any reason (such as space limitations). Although when I get old maybe I will stop and just enjoy what I have. Maybe with old age you can be more satisfied with less stuff. I don't know. I won't know until I get old. I could possibly lose interest for a few years then start back up again. I will lay low in the shadows then suddenly pop back up with more dolls.

      Edit:
I said box coffin because I like to think my dolls are dead or asleep while in their boxes because it looks like a coffin. They awaken when they come to their owners because the owners breathe life into them. I like to think they are immortal because dolls are in a way. I'm weird.

    18. My brain and my heart seem to have different ideas on this :doh

I started the year telling myself no more dolls unless it's a very specific type (1/4 cyborg girl). I passed up the one limited cyborg girl who did pop up almost immediately... then went for a bunny girl instead. Then a limited fullset I'd thought was adorable but couldn't justify the price on at the dealer popped up on the secondhand market for a much more reasonable amount. Even though that one's SD and not MSD. Then an artist with a doll I was interested in but had passed on before announced they were going to stop doing doll sales except for leftover stock after one last convention, so I bit the bullet there... And now a different artist who's sculpting a head that makes me go :love said that doll was getting a "one and only" preorder later this year...

The bunny girl still hasn't gotten here!

I did, at least, find space and upgraded my end table-sized doll cabinet for a full-on display cabinet. I also try to spend some time with everyone, even though some dolls have been sitting more than others. So physically, there's space, even if I'd like to leave at least some for furniture instead of cramming the cabinet full of dolls. I can't think of any I'd be willing to sell, either. Maybe the bunny girl if she just doesn't click when she gets here, but that's a maybe. I still adore everyone when I open up my cabinet to decide who I'm hanging out with that day. The plus side of trying to bring home only dolls I really love. The downside is there's so many adorable dolls!

I think after this preorder, I'll have to be real strict about "really, no more dolls" but I have no idea how long that will last.

    19. I’ve been buying my “last” doll for years. I feel like my collection’s completely done except for this one doll… and then I get it and something else comes along. Or one of the dolls I was sure was a forever member of my collection suddenly doesn’t work as well and needs a reshell. Or somebody needs a pet doll I hadn’t considered. I don’t have the room to store endless dolls, so it’s kind of a cycle where some move in and others move out, but I don’t think that’s a bad thing. This hobby has evolved so much since I started, and my tastes have evolved with it.

    20. Yes and no as well - I've pumped the brakes on buying full dolls, so I can work on getting bodies for specific floating heads or finishing the doll's aesthetics. I certainly don't have as many dolls as some people here, but for both financial and sanity reasons I'm focusing on what I have. I can say that head wise I have roughly 20, but not all of them will be getting bodies, and full dolls (bodies and heads) I have about 10 I think? With the incoming of 1 more full doll and 2 bodies this year, it'll be roughly 13. I feel like 15 might be my max. I'm considering moving some out soon, especially the heads, but haven't sat down to actually take stock since I'm still in the process of moving and furnishing my art room where everyone will be displayed LOL

    21. I really and truly believe that I’m done (once my current round of layaways from February 2023 are complete and have arrived.) I never purchased a doll unless I had a preconceived character for it, but I’ve been slowly collecting continuously since 2006 at the rate of roughly 3 dolls per year and that really adds up over time! Once the last of my layaways are here that will make 55 dolls, and I’m finally done telling all my stories and creating new characters. Did I wind up with a much larger collection than I ever dreamed? You bet! But I love each and every one, easily remember every name, and have them all on display in artistic vignettes throughout my home. I see them constantly, interacting with them on a daily basis, and it’s all just pure joy for me.:) Each one has a complete wardrobe, each one is completely finished (except for the ones who have yet to arrive,) and each one has their own story to tell. It’s my dream collection…it’s like living inside a fairytale of my imagination, expressed in resin rather than words.

    22. I only have a single 1/4 resin doll. I definitely want more dolls, but my limited living space makes it a little daunting. I could probably get away with up to 3 at that scale without having to do some serious rearranging to make space.

    23. For resin bjds, yes I’m done collecting them. Now I’m focusing on vinyl bjds and already have seven, so my space is getting limited. I’m not going to put a limit on collecting anymore as there’s always just one more doll out there that will be ‘the last’ for me. I’m trying to focus on other hobbies and spend less time looking at bjds to limit my temptation. We’ll see how that goes, lol.

    24. I should have also mentioned that while I haven't hit my BJD number limit, or my generic doll number limit, I HAVE hit my space limit.

The last dozen or so dolls that have come into the house literally have nowhere to be displayed. And we're also about to have some changes that will result in there being even less doll-display space available (inherited furniture, my husbands treasured family pieces, that will eat into the current display space), displacing several shelves full of dolls.

I'm not a store-them-somewhere collector. For me, there's no point in having them if they aren't out and being played with. So, doll buying (once the current outstanding order arrives), will have to grind to a halt.

A potential doll-cull might have to be endured (fortunately I had already identified a list of around ten BJDs that were fairly neglected and could potentially be moved on (sold one immediatly, to a visiting friend, and then ground to a halt) and I might be able to add to that from among the other dolls, though they've already been through several previous culls, so there's not a lot of wriggle room there.

      How depressing

    25. I thought I did. LOL

Now I want 1/5 boy and girl since I discovered that scale. I am also yet to acquire 1/3 man/boy. This position is currently vacant because it's extremely difficult to find compatible sculpt and size for my girls'.

    26. I don’t keep a wishlist anymore but I have plans for characters that I’d like to shell so I am not done as such yet. I’d always tell myself I’d stop at 12-13 but that number has doubled in the past year or so. One thing I have stopped doing is buying floating heads but I have now had the dilemma of headless bodies which I have found it harder to find heads for. I have a few other collections which balance things out a little bit but BJDs definitely are no1 for me.

    27. I'm lucky there. I'm of the view that since people come in all sorts of shapes and sizes, a wide variety of dollstyles and sizes can work together.

My main group of SD sized BJD's are all siblings and cousins despite being from a wide range of different companies, proportions, and sculpt styes : The Victorian family settled in to the new cabinet

    28. Yes and no? After I came back to the hobby I sold all but five dolls (had eleven before) and have been buying steadily since. I'm the type that when I buy a new doll with a character, a story naturally comes out of that and necessitates more characters and more dolls. This has slowed since I started writing more seriously, to the point I only have two character dolls with concrete plans left.

Lately the more interesting dolls I've been buying aren't attached to any story. I'll have to see if I bond with them the same, but, if that's the case, I'm looking at potentially only buying dolls that are particularly interesting from now on. In which case that means I'll be moving on to more anime-style dolls.

So in a weird way, no I'm not done buying dolls, but also the nature of my relationship to dolls has changed and I may or may not be buying like I used to. Whether this means more dolls or less dolls, I'll have to see.

    29. I feel like this is one of the most resonant comments so far on this topic.

I don't feel particularly done, but I also don't feel like running out to acquire more either. I think that @Amet 's point about growing and changing with the hobby is on point. You either stay in the hobby and keep acquiring, you stay in the hobby and sell what doesn't suit you/acquire what does, or you leave the hobby.

People who stay in this hobby without change are possible but rare because the core of this is art and imagination, and those things being static isn't usually how people roll.

    30. I've been collecting resin BJDs in 1/6 and 1/4 scale for about a year now, and have 3 in my home and 2 on preorder. I plan to buy at least two more - a MNF Chloe and a Lotus doll - but after that I'm not sure. My primary doll collection is 1/6 vinyl fashion dolls, and even going into the future I think that's where most of my dolly dollars are going to go. This said, if a BJD appeals to me and I can afford her, I'll definitely be sure to snatch her up!

    31. This May sound funny but I am formally into 1/3 dolls. I ended up having 2 SD’s (plus two bust stands to fill:P) and rest are 4 MSD, 3 Yosd, two pet dolls, and one reborn:sweat I am solid on scale/age setting tho. So I don’t buy 1/4 mature busty girls for example.

    32. You know I thought I had a limit (10 dolls, all MSD size), but recently got an SD (68cm) boy at a meetup which puts me at 9, and have a Supia (Minisup) girl on the way, but now that I have an SD size doll and love him I'm feeling like I want to explore that size more. My goal is to not surpass 15 dolls now because I just feel like that would be a lot for the amount space I have in my apartment lol.

    33. I have a large collection by any objective standard, but I'm also a pretty serious neat freak. I refuse to allow my crew to take up more than a very specific and well-defined amount of space in my little townhouse... The entire lot have to fit in my sewing room, either in the set of display cabinets that I bought for them, or (for the Seriously Too Tall for the Cabinets ones only-) on doll stands on top of the chest of drawers where their clothes are stored. I don't have a set number for the collection so much as a set amount of real estate.

There's not much more space for new dolls these days, so I haven't bought any.
      The proverbial inn is full.

I'm still on the lookout for an Oracle M... and someday I may give in and spend a small fortune on a Volks Andre to go with my Oscar... But beyond that? I'm okay with being out of space. I have pretty much everyone else I've ever wanted in the collection. If I never add another member to the crew, I'm okay with that.

      • x 1
    34. Nah, I only have 5 dolls currently, I've bought and sold over the years as tastes change or whatever reason, but I think if I see a doll I love I'll just buy them until my last days. I don't see the point of having a number in my mind deciding what I will allow myself in my life. I only really buy something if I REALLY TRULY love it though so am not likely to go hog wild anyway. You never know what wonderful future dolls may come into existence that you will fall in love with.

      • x 1
    35. I've set limits, broke limits, went too far, set new limits, cut back and everything else. I think I've given up on set number limits, and now my limit is just "not having more dolls than I can bond with at a time." Owning 5 dolls but feeling nothing for two of them would be too many dolls. Owning 25 dolls with fully fleshed out characters, looking the way I want, with all the clothes and accessories they need and feeling a bond to each is not too many dolls. It took me over 15 years to figure that out.

    36. This is completely on point. As long as creativity is still flowing, there will always be space for more dolls - in the imagination, at least! Having enough physical space to keep/display them is another issue, heh.

Recently I was looking at my collection (those at home and incoming ones), and realized that I was kinda thinking of my dolls as actors in a cast, each with a specific role to play. See, all my dolls have characters and I like to tell stories with them. I had 3 dolls at the start of this year and they never felt like 'enough', I wanted more. Now I realize that I wanted more actors in the cast, and like a proper cast, everyone has a specific role to play. As long as there was a missing role, I felt the itch to buy, but it had to be a doll who could fill the role. So that's what I did. Seems like my "complete cast" is 7 dolls, maybe 8, in total. I'm feeling very contented with these and my itch to buy dolls has now completely disappeared.

I suppose I prefer to view it in terms of contentment. (Again, if physical space or finances aren't involved.) Having "enough dolls" or feeling "this is it, I'm done" means that I'm contented with where my collection is at, at this point in time, for whatever reason. But life changes, creativity changes, so I might stop being contented in future and want to add more dolls to the cast of characters. I'm sure that'll happen eventually... hopefully not anytime soon!

    37. I don't have any busty girls. I do have mature 1/4 - but they're a separate grouping of their own. All but one of my SD gang are children or younger teens, as are most of the rest of my BJDs (with one exception). Though the teeny tinies (RealPuki, or example) are ageless fae types so don't really count in terms of matching look/bodytype to age.

It's haivng these separate groupings that puhed my number-limit (if I have one!) up `since I tend to regard each grouping separately rather than my resin colection as a whole.

    38. I thought back when I bought my first doll that I'd be happy with just the one, and I was for a few years. Now I have a fair amount and I always feel like I want more. I don't think I'll ever reach a limit for wanting them. More that I'll have periods of not being able to get them due to space or money.

    39. I'm in the refining stage of my collection - with the intent that some will be going and the knowledge that there will inevitably be some coming in. I'm also not oblivious to the fact that my favorite company has a strong hold over me so I know I'll be keeping an eye on their future releases and probably adding more of those, depending on release. But overall, I feel like I've obtained all my "chase" dolls. I am happy with my collection. I found what I jive with. So I'll be making a few more cuts to get rid of the dolls I found I bought to try and fill another doll's spot - and now having the dolls I actually wanted I can trim down some and focus on higher quality clothes, shoes, and finally getting enough eyes and wigs for everyone. And faceups.

    40. I am very, very close to it!

At some point I had decided for myself that ~20 is probably my maximum. I like 70cm guys the most, so space is one limit, but I also enjoy decking out my dolls with nice things. And every new doll means a new mouth to feed, so to speak :abambi:
I also am someone that has no interest in owning several dolls with the same base aesthetic or concept. I know others are the opposite there, if they like one doll from a company they will keep buying all releases that look very similar, but for me it's a waste of money and effort to basically own the same thing several times. I need to be efficient here :XD:
So even if a company releases a face that I like, if I already have something falling into the same aesthetic range I am not inclined to buy this doll as well. There are too many pretty dolls out there, you can't have them all anyway.

Currently my plan looks like this:
      - replace a hybrid I have with a full doll from the company instead (the head is just impossible to hybrid and I am sick of trying to find a match)
      - shell the last missing OC in the group (his 1/3 version will be ordered soon, his 1/4 is planned for the future)
      - maybe, maybe replace an existing doll if a fitting one is ever released

Aside from that, nothing really is planned anymore and a doll REALLY needs to be special for me to actually be willing to buy it.
I rather focus on perfecting the ones I have now.

    41. For BJD, I'm on what another doll-collecting site likes to refer to as "the couch of contentment." I have 2 YoSD-sized resin babies, an MSD-sized girl on the way, and a handful of off-topic tinies. I am totally fine with just focusing on the dolls I have for the near future. You can't fit all that many dolls in a tiny apartment!

      • x 2
    42. Kind of yes and no for me as well. I currently have 37 full dolls, with a couple more on layaway for the bodies and another body I'm waiting for. At this point, I've shelled all the characters I want to shell and am working on refining them. I'm older and have reached the point that I don't want to make my collection much bigger. I'm trying not to make any more characters but that's not to say I can't still be tempted!

    43. I always think I’m done…then some company will have a discontinuation event and I’m like, “Oh no! That sculpt that I've admired for a while will be gone forever!” :o And, out comes my wallet.:chomp::chomp::chomp:

I don’t know, maybe it's MOFO. But, happily, I never regret getting them. When the doll arrives, I’m always relieved that I saved a sculpt that I really wanted to begin with.

    44. Currently no, but I just started collecting like a year or two ago. Currently my goal is to get main cast for a story I've been writing and then maybe a few other ocs but I'm really trying to keep it to just that in regards to dolls because I know space can be an issue.

    45. my collection of dolls is close to 50, or rather 49 dolls and 5 different heads. Initially, I planned my collection to a maximum of 10-15, but it turned out that I already have 49. I understand that this is a lot, so in the fall I will start reducing it, I will try to sell 5-10 dolls, it’s a difficult choice who to sell ... but my cabinet with shelves - not rubber)-:))

    46. I would have space for a few more SDs especially now that I've gotten rid of a lot of other stuff, but I feel like I'm at that point where I'm pretty much done with the collecting stage. I don't remember seeing a new human doll I would have liked enough to even consider buying for at least a couple of years, and even the new half human half creatures haven't been able to keep my interest for more than a week anymore.

So I'm not going to claim I certainly won't get a new full doll ever (in part because I don't want to jinx myself ), but I feel like a doll would have to be something really special (coughlizardy/pathfinderkobold-styledollcough) to be able to catch my interest enough to buy nowadays. I consider this a good thing though, since this means I can put all the extra money and energy into completing the dolls I already have, as 3/4 of them are at most 50% complete, most 30%, so I definitely have enough to work on for years already.

    47. I think I'm done at 6 dolls. I don't really see myself owning more nor I feel the desire even if I see some dolls that are appealing to me, even the grail that I've been chasing for a while doesn't seem that important anymore so I think this is the perfect moment to stop and focus on doing things and getting things for my current dolls.

    48. I get to that point regularly. :D I've been there at 2 dolls. Then at 3 dolls. Then at 5 dolls. Then at 7. Now I have 9, I plan to join a preorder and add the number up to 10, aaaand I'll get to "this is enough" point again. Now bet when I buy the 11th one...

I feel like buying dolls is easier when you have a lot of them already. If you have 2 dolls, adding the third one means your collection will grow x1.5! And if you have 30 of them, the 31th does not make that much difference. One more, one less...
I don't mean that the 31th doll is less important that the 3rd one though!

    49. Yes, at this point, the only option for me to have more doll is the only 1 in = 1 out way :)
Ideally, I'd like to have 2 dolls... or 4. But realistically, I'll end at 6, I guess... right now I have 7, one of which is no longer to be with me. I struggled for 2 years, thinking whether I should sell her or not, and I was relieved to finally have come to that conclusion.
Having too many dolls gives me so much anxiety, it's not worth it. That said, I like dolly couples and group pics. I like it when they share their clothes too, etc.
I love looking at large collections owned by others, but my personal limit is lower. Also, because I'm only into the bjd dolls. I guess I'd be more tolerant of higher amounts if I had an army of tinies, for example :)

    50. Not quite there yet, but I think through trial and error I've boiled everything down to what I really want in the hobby. I've got one more doll incoming, and then assuming I'm happier with her than I was with the last doll I shelled her character with, I plan to take a step back from actively collecting and focus instead on making clothing and props, etc.

    51. I was about to say, “Yeah, I feel done. I’m happy with all my dolls.” But then, one or two more tinies wouldn’t hurt. Um. So, maybe I’m done? I don’t think it would be hard to sway me to buy another if the mood is right and it’s a Wednesday. Probably.

    52. Almost there! But I also want more....but I shouldn't. But I want more. Gah. I need to sell some when I am able to. It's no good to have so many dolls since I can't give them the attention that they deserve. But I still like them! But I don't play with them that much. I'll think about it later.

That's the general gist of it. But I do have too many dolls at this point.

    53. I sure am getting there, if only because I've run out of room for more. I've already got some floating heads that need bodies, and several incoming dolls, and I'm honestly not sure where I'm going to put some of them...

      But if I ever got into a situation where I had more space? I'd probably start buying again. ^^;

    54. Yes, very much so as I'm thinking about oneday when I'm gone, and whoever it'll be that will be left with all my dolls. They won't know what to do with them and I don't want my collection to feel too overwhelming for whoever it is that will be left with them. I'm getting older, although still not quite that old yet, but this is something I've been thinking more and more about lately. Also because my health is not as good.

Not to mention having too many now only stresses me out, it's starting to feel like more work than I can handle. Also mentally.

I'm not done buying yet, but only because I got my final doll plans set up, and I've entered the stage of my hobby where now I'm working towards getting a complete doll collection. Only the dolls I wish to have in my collection. I'm in the process of buying what I hope will be the last dolls in my hobby. And then some will eventually have to go, those that are not part of my final and complete collection!

    55. If I say no more dolls, I will end up getting at least one more. I'm saying no more for now, as I want to enjoy what I have, and maybe sell the ones I havne't played with in a while.

    56. I think I'm close to done--I need bodies for several dolls, but I've finally run out of space in my room, so until I get out of my parents' house, I'm supposed to buy less dolls to avoid getting overrun. There are, of course, tons more dolls I'd want if I was allowing myself to get any more, and I don't doubt that there'll be more dolls coming in even though this is allegedly my "end" point, but I'm going to have to slow down for the sake of space.

    57. Ideally, I'd have 2, a pair of dolls that fit together well. I have space for 4 and have 3 at the moment so I will hit the storage limit should I buy one more doll. I assume I will swap some dolls out in the future, though, as I would ideally only have sculpts that don't look odd next to each other.

So definitely not done collecting, but done growing the number pretty soon in my current situation. I feel like with 3, there is so much I want to craft for them that it's getting a little bit overwhelming already haha! I have to refrain from more restoration projects I think :sweat

    58. I’m really close, I either stop buying or start my one in, one out rule.

    59. BJDs? Probably for a while. I ordered two tiny 3D-printed BJD's, because I think it'd be fun to have them on my desk at work, but I haven't felt the urge to do very much with my BJDs since approximately 2020. It is what it is. It'll change eventually.

    60. I wouldn't say I've hit that point, more that I've slowed down a lot. At first, I was buying new dolls regularly, but not anymore. There are still many sculpts I like, but I don't have characters I want to shell. The ones I have make up their own universe and they feel mostly complete. If I make a new character, I'll peruse dolls to help me get an idea of what they look like, but I'd have to be really, really in love with a sculpt to actually buy it. The newest character exists in a world separate from the others so maybe this is the start of a rekindling.
