are there dolls you would like but probably won't buy?

Nov 27, 2005

    1. I like a lot of the Luts and CH Petite Ais but they're not quite my style. ^^

    2. There are definitely dolls that I look at that I like and don't want to buy. There are plenty of lovely dolls out there, like the Narae but I don't know what I would ever do with one. I tend to see dolls, like what people have done to customize them but I know if I ever bought it, it would just sit there. And there are definitely way too many dolls for me to buy all the ones I like.
And sometimes there are dolls that I just like one persons doll, what they've done to it. Some of the limited ones I would never buy because well, they cost too much and yes I admire them and I think if you spend that much money on getting the doll you have to give it alot of attention. You can't just buy it and then never look at it again.
And there are just some dolls that while I think they're lovely sculpts I would never want to spend money on them. This is true of the Volks boys mostly, I think most of them are lovely and what people have done with them is great, but I don't want to spend money on them.

    3. Probably kaede, she's so cute but too smiley for me. I love SD mika though again with the smiley-ness. I would love sweet dream nana but doubt I will ever get her.

    4. I'd love a magical Micheal from Volks, he's the only one that speaks to me in the Volks line. Unfortunatly he's 1) too expensive 2) I have no dolly money right now, well I do but I want to get a Hound so Micheal is taking a back seat 3) he's limited so the chances of me getting one dwindle every passing moment.

    5. any SD/BJD from Volks, Angel Region and CustomHouse. I'd like to have one from Volks but even if i can afford one of them i know i'll never purchase from those companies^^

    6. I like SoulDoll Reese, but not sure if I really want her. I don't think she would look right in the type of clothes I dress my dolls in. I also want a Volks Isao. *Sigh* I'll never be able to afford him, but oh how I wish I could....

    7. A Bermann.

    8. I like the Supia dolls really much, but the're just to realistic. I wouldn't be sleeping well if they were on my room.

    9. I have a story line and things im going around for my dolls, and there are certain really human looking dolls, and even companies i refuse to let myself buy from. Also I am super picky and if I can find a flaw in a headmold thats done with XP

    10. Yep. I like a number of Soom's Mega Gem and Idealian sculpts, but I doubt I'll ever buy them because they're too big (both lines) and I don't like their bodies (Mega Gems). Should Soom ever release resized Mega Gem (or Idealian) heads that fit Super Gem bodies (like they've done with some of their Mecha Angel heads), I'd definitely consider buying them though! They're gorgeous sculpts, but at the sizes they are currently they just wouldn't fit into my collection at all.

    11. Small dolls.
I bought my sister a Puki Sugar years ago for her birthday, and she is the sweetest thing! I love playing with her and just cuddling the crap outta her, she's just the best. But she's soooo small! I have really bad wrist problems, and it can make handling small things difficult. So while I love the small dolls, it gets tiring for my hands. :(

Probably won't buy any anime-eye dolls...I just don't like them.

Big dolls are more my speed. They're heavier, yeah...but my first BJD was a Dollshe Hound. Go big dolls!

    12. Yes. I love Ringdolls Frankenstein and Bride dolls. I think they are so cool. And Iplehouse Addiction's vampire heads are great. But they would scare the hell out of other people in my house. Also, I love making pretty clothes for my dolls. My niece and I make scenes around the house with them. It would be really hard to fit them into how we "play dolls". :(

    13. I see many dolls that I would love to have, but I just know I wouldn't be able to work them into the story my dolls are from. So I appreciate owner pics but have no interest in owning one myself, unless in the distant future I have dolls for all the characters of this story (I'm nowhere near done).

    14. Short answer: Yes.
I have tinies, yosds and msds and I don't think having an SD doll in my family would fit but I love so many of them!:
Feeple60 Mirwen, Migidoll Jina, Crobidoll Yeonho (and any other sculpt because Crobidoll are perfect)

    15. Volks Yukinojo...

I just content myself with drooling over everyone else's Jo, since I've never gotten around to hunting down one of my own.

    16. I love looking at tinies (more specifically anthros, like Pipos) but I don't care to own one myself. I've tried that size, and they are just too small for me but I think they are adorable. Also, some of the Volks sculpts are neat, however there is only one that I would seriously consider purchasing so I just enjoy looking at other owner pictures :)

    17. Any girl doll, specially mostly of the Volks girls ;A; they all seem so lovely but I don't see myself owning one even I sometimes think it would be cute to have a girl among all my guys... But at the end I think is not that of a good idea and that's all -sigh- is the same with tinies :(

    18. There are plenty for me... anything above Mini size, there's plenty I absolutely love but I don't do large dolls well, so I won't get any of those. There's plenty of limiteds out there I won't be hunting down, too, and plenty that stylistically won't blend with my collection (Doll Chateau, for instance--I love looking at them, but I can't see owning one). But that's why we have owner photos, right? :D

    19. I have so many dolls that I love that I could never buy them all. Some just aren't my style, some are too expensive (do you hear that Volks SWS Nono?!) and the rest I just don't have time for. I only want a few dolls so I can enjoy them all. If I get too many of something I tend to forget the individual loveliness that each one holds and it becomes more about acquiring the newest eye candy I spot.

    20. This happens to me all the time, I make a big list of the dolls I like or love, but then I look through it again and think 'Would I realistically save for buy it?' and then my list shortens :')

    21. this may sound random, but i refuse to buy a doll that costs more than my monthly insurance payment.
i have nothing against more expensive dolls, i'm not being a jerk!!
my partner and i just have a limited amount of money we can put into our hobbies, so it's a logical restriction for me. heh.

    22. Hmm... I think there are a number of dolls that I would like but probably won't buy, though out of all of them there's one that tops my list: Soul Doll Chiron Centaur. He's super pricey and I'd just have no idea what to do with him :sweat

    23. TTuTTll a number of them, actually... I like pretty much all the dolls I've ever seen with very few exceptions but sadly I can't buy all the dolls... There's a number of beautiful Soom dolls I'd like, and many, many Volks in that list... and Dollfie Dreams, and sculpts I love but sadly can't fit in a character...

    24. Oh there's definitely a number of dolls I love but could never see myself actually having. I really love a lot of the more angular faced 70cm male dolls like Akagi Doll, Loongsoul, Island Doll, Iplehouse, etc but they're so unlike all the other dolls I own that I just feel they would stick out too much. Most of my dolls are softer faced like the old LUTS CP Delfs.

Also I would love love love to own a Dollmore Lusion or Trinity but my parents would probably murder me if I ever attempted that one so totally never happening lol.

    25. Zia89: I totally agree with you. I would also love to own a dollmore lusion or trinity, but that price, and that weight! I would have to make a LOT of money before considering it. It would be super fun dressing one, though. C:

There are a lot of animal/pet dolls that I really like as well, but I've never bought one because I wouldn't really know what to do with one...

    26. I like a LOT of dolls.

I can't buy them all, so, yeah...

    27. There are some limiteds that I really love but they don't fit any character of mine so getting them would just be a waste of money. I got a tiny just because I really loved her but she's too small against my other dolls and i haven't been able to do anything with her so she's just sitting there all the time. Lesson learned.

    28. I love Lots of dolls....but I can't buy them all.
I really love DollShe's boy but I don't think I will buy them.

    29. For me it would be most of Soom's Fantasy Mega Gems. They are gorgeous and amazing, but between the size and the price, I doubt I would ever buy one.

    30. i suppose for me it would be jointed hands. i think they are so beautiful but at $70 to $100 a set it would rack up really fast which is just too much for me to justify spending when the hands my girls have now are equally pretty just not as poseable.

    31. There are a couple and my reasons aren't really for money (though I couldn't buy them right now if I wanted to xD) but weirdly enough, more of because I can't figure out what I'd do with them even if I did get them. Sort of like, I think they're gorgeous and like their look, but I don't like their look for me and as part of my collection.

    32. I find it very difficult to settle on admiring a doll from afar only and stop wishing to have it someday. Guess that's just something i'm still to learn. So, yes, there are a lot of dolls i really like but more likely would never buy for various reasons, which i still feel sad for, but shouldn't because that's just perfectly fine to not to own some of the dolls you like. They're extremely hard to distinguish from one another tho.

    33. Minifees! I love them they are so pretty! I love to look at them, but they are way to small for me :)

    34. Yep, there's a ton of dolls I love but would never purchase, mainly due to space restrictions and budget of course, but also I don't think I'd enjoy SDs and up. If I was in to larger dolls I'd loove to own Soom Breccia & Sard!

    35. generally all dolls that are way too expensive or limited ones, like 2 in 1 - soom sard xD

    36. Anything from Doll Chateau. I like their dolls quite a bit, but they just wouldn't fit in with my others.

Any more SDs, at least for now. I recently got a cat, and there just aren't many places where my dolls can be in view, safe from the sun, and safe from my cat:kitty1. I can fit a few more small dolls in my cabinet, but the big guys/girls have nowhere to go, and I don't want to hide them away in a closet where I'd never get to see them. It seems like 90% of the dolls I really want are SD-sized - I wish I could shrink them!

    37. @FrigidDamsel: Do you have a high cupboard. I store my dolls on top of that. Since it's too high to jump onto from the ground and there aren't any other furniture nearby my cat-monster could use, my dolls are safe there.

    38. Haha yes there are ton of dolls I would love to own - if someone gave them to me free of course ;). Wishful thinking aside, I'm actually quite satisfied with the girls I have. I currently do want to get a tiny and have been looking into a couple companies. I actually really like Latis, especially after seeing one in person, but honestly their price and waiting times scare me so I think they are in the 'want but probably won't buy' category...unless it's the fox Lea. I would totally get her if I can find her xD.

    39. I have one in the kitchen, but it's in direct sunlight from a window that can't be blocked off. The house I'm renting has an odd shape, and there are a couple of windows that are too high up for me to put curtains over - those windows light up the whole den/kitchen/my bedroom. It's a tiny house, and there's no room for any new pieces of furniture.

    40. Aside from the money aspect, I've always thought it'd be awesome to own a Minifee Lishe cause the sculpt has been one of my favorites since CP was around...and I've always liked Unoa Lusis too. I dunno why I don't see myself ever purchasing either, but I can't say for certain I won't at some point...who knows?! XD

    41. There are many dolls I like but I don't like them enough. I love Mecha Angel Sabik but I don't see myself buying one.
And any tiny dolls. They is cute but I don't know what I would ever do with one. They are just too small for me.

    42. I think the Dollmore Trinity girls are beautiful but they're just too big to fit in with the rest of my dolls - I like all of my dolls to be part of a pairing or group, so I doubt I'll ever get one.

    43. A lot of limiteds, I think. Especially Soom limiteds. Limited dolls usually cost ~$100-$200 more than the average doll of the same size and depending on how long they're available (like how the aforementioned Soom ones are only available for 2 weeks at a time), it's not enough time for me to decide and/or work out my finances to see if I should get it. I'm sure if one really strikes me as a "wow I must have this one", I'll make it work and make my decision within 24 hours, but for most cases I'm usually waiting to see what my credit card situation is going to be after the following payday before I say yes or no.

I also really love Doll Chateau's Christina. I'm fascinated by her sculpt and face-up but I just don't think I like her enough to have a doll so different from my plans for a future doll family. Maybe I'll change my mind some day though.

    44. I love iplehouse EID Arvids. I would love to have one but i dont see howd id justify that much money for a huge boy. Maybe one day. I just dont see how because of space and price.

    45. There are a number of dolls I like but would probably never buy, like a Limhwa half elf, or a Minifee Chloe or Supia Rosy. I just can't afford it. I'm also not much of a collector of things...The only doll I can see staying with me long-term is my RS Ya, and that's because she was the first doll I ever bought. I'm probably going to sell the others after I finish customizing them.

    46. i think..enchanted doll
i really like!! with no money TAT

    47. I think it will be a permanently fantasy doll bodies. While I like to enjoy people's fantasy doll photo, I don't think I want to have a doll with bodies like that. IF it just a changeable part, like changeable elf ear, I like to collect it. Maybe because if it permanent, I find it hard to modify with what I wanted.

Also, I think I won't buy sleeping head, or maybe I will just to modify it into bigger eyehole. But seeing people's photo is really nice, just not my cup of tea to collect :)

    48. I absolutely love Doll Chateau's Douglas, but unless I had an unexpected windfall, I wouldn't buy him. I don't have any characters he'd fit, and if I did get him, he would literally arrive, sit and look pretty. I wouldn't even want to change his outfit, because I like what he comes with. So yeah, love him, but unlikely to ever buy him.

    49. I would love one of those Asleep Eidolon 1/6 new mermaids that they just put up for sale. But I wouldn't know what to do with her once I got her. She would have no place in my storyline, and she would just sit around. And for how much I would be paying to get her I would want to be able to take her places without the fear of something happening to her and not being able to replace parts, or the doll itself.. :)

    50. Yes! I have a long and changing wishlist, but I'd probably end up buying all of them on there and more if I had the available funds. The only dolls I really love and wouldn't buy myself are the sculpts that my best friend owns; I love them very much and can appreciate them when I visit rather than "needing" to own them myself.

    51. I really like the Unoa dolls, but I think they are just way too popular and expensive so I'd probably never get one. I'll just sit back and admire everyone else's. :P

    52. Hi guys,

Just wondering if anyone here fell in love with a doll/sculpt but ended up not buying them? Like for me, I really like the Popovy dolls but when I discovered how much they cost vs their size, I just sighed and tried not to cry. LOL. Or maybe you loved a doll/sculpt but it got discontinued and your never found them again.

      Thanks!

    53. I love so much Spiritdoll Snowdrop in full set but I do not know why I still do not add her to my wish list...
These was love from first sign I really want her but not yet!! This is really "complicated" betwen us x) Hope I can get her one day ;)

Yup Popovy are expensiv maybe you can find cheaper on second hand market?

    54. Snowdrop is so cute! I hope you get her soon! :)

Still waiting for my marketplace access, hopefully I can find one once I have access. Thanks!

    55. I love Iplehouse Bibiane. First bjd I saw. I still want her, but for some reason I can't figure out, I guess I don't want her enough. I doubt I'll ever get her, but I'll always love her.
