Aquarius Doll 1/4 Doll discussion Part 1

What clothes do they fit?
Do they happen to fiylt Iplehouse? Nine9 style?
Custome made clothes?

 

Sarisen It might be that the AQD torso is a bit longer than the Souldoll one?! That's the only thing I could think...I'm thinking that the NL body itself is 43cm WITHOUT the head, which is why they look taller than the AQDs. XD

Aphtaiwan I haven't had a difficult time finding clothes for my girl, and I've bought a few things off Etsy for slim MSDs, like Animethemed said. I haven't purchased anything from Nine9 Style so I can't say. I purchased a sweater for her from Etsy that was made for MNF and it is a bit short in the arm area, BUT it's not weirdly short, so it's not an issue!

Side note - dang we went through an entire page in one day. XD Yay for new people!

Does anyone who does face-ups know if it's possible to wipe ONLY the eyebrows from a face up and then redo and reseal? I asked Aquarius Doll last night if they'd be willing to do Face Up B with blonde eyebrows but they said it was impossible So I'd be looking to repaint the eyebrows when my Chloe got home.

 

ImpishParody Hmm...I'd say it couldn't hurt to try, BUT I think it would probably be noticable if part of the face up was wiped and resealed. D: I've never personally wiped part of something and then re-done it, so I can't say from experience. @_@ That's too bad that they can't do that for you. BUT those eyebrows might end up looking nice with whatever wig you get - you never know!

I bet if you were able to get custom eyes, that a 8mm eye, with an iris size more like a 6mm eye, would be absolutely perfect.

I don't have any company wigs for my girl yet, since I like making my own. Sorry I can't help in that department. (>_<)
And I'm not sure about wiping the eyebrows. I bet it could be done, and just add a little blushing to the wiped area as well to blend it in. Then do the eyebrows.

I don't really have any "company" clothes to compare either, but all of my MSD clothes seem to fit her just fine. I have the bigger bust on my girl as well. A note though, they do have a booty. lol

I just wanted to thank you again Miyukisetsu! You inspired me with your girls tattoos! I myself have been wanting a few tattoos for the longest time but I'm too scared - of course I should give them to one of my girls instead! That was the best idea ever - so thank you!! Now I'm thinking about how to do them&#8230; A permanent marker doesn't sound like the best idea, but I won't be able to do the details with a brush, I need to do it with a pen&#8230; hmmm&#8230;.
Anyway, I also thought like you, maybe the difference in height measurement was that one company measured with head and one without - but the height difference isn't so big, maybe 1 or 2 cm according to pictures&#8230; Well the mystery continues&#8230; Still the 5cm leg difference sounds strange to me. Come on, 5cm is a lot for these dolls! No I'm starting to think something is wrong will the Souldoll companys ruler&#8230; Haha.

Actually I'm now starting to lean towards an Aquarius light brown skin&#8230; I wanted the normal skin at first so I could hybrid it, but I really love Chloe so maybe I should just order it in the skin color I like the most and forget about hybridizing&#8230; Hmmm decisions decisions&#8230; =)

I did my research before ordering my first doll but in these two months since taking the step into the hobby I have totally gone overboard&#8230; I love this whole world of dolls!! Love it! Everything is sooo expensive though&#8230; Ouch! ;-) And now that I found the Aquarius girls I can't stop myself I have to have one!! I really love everything about them! More pictures from you owners would be greatly appreciated! =)

Edit 2: If anyone of you have a comparison picture between a doll in normal skin and a doll in light brown skin that would be fantastic! Thanks!! =)

I have 1 tattoo, and of course I get it on a spot that I didn't realize was a "trigger point" (a very sensitive point used for accupressure)
It's a pink octopus on my right calf.
There are lots of tattoos that I would love, but most of them I'll be giving to my dolls as well. haha

I would definitely advise against marker of any kind. That will stain your doll for sure.
You could try watercolor pencils! They are pen-like in application, and are very safe to use. Plus you can get a bajillion colors. You could also use the temporary tattoo paper that you print out a design on, then apply it to your doll, and seal.

I'll measure my girl tonight (if I can remember to do it lol) and give you the numbers.

Price is definitely a factor in the bjd world, but that's why I use the paypal bill me later option. Gives me more time to pay on things.

Here's a pic of mine.

The WC pencils can be done in layers like this: sealant-color-sealant-color-sealant
If you layer the colors they get brighter with each layer. You can also incorporate acrylic paint to fill in areas of the tattoo with color, or to go over your lines you drew. Chalk pastel is also a good option for filling in color. Just don't use anything with oil in it. Anything water-based is A-OK! &#9829;

Paypal BML is like a credit line, where you get 6-months to pay for things. Very handy, especially for doll companies that do not offer layaway.

 

sarisen I love everyone in here, they're all so helpful and fun! >3< You should totally put tattoos that you want on your girl! Definitely don't use marker - use watercolor pencils like Momo suggested! That's what I used to draw all of mine. Just don't wet them first and they'll go on looking fantastic!

I might have to look into using BML for my next doll purchase...that kind of stuff makes me nervous though. I hate credit cards and such. XD

 

Miyu, I'm the same. I don't have any CCs, just this paypal thing. You can use it pretty much wherever paypal is accepted, and you get 6months to pay without interest. Plus you can keep track online of how much you have left to pay, and what your balance is.

Thanks for your help everyone! I think I'm going to order a NS Chloe with Face-Up B over the summer - if I can get enough sales from my new business. It's a great adventure, but it does mean I've had to ration dolly purchases! I have some spare wigs that would fit her so thankfully I don't have to rush into buying anything for her immediately; it's good to spread out my buys If anyone DOES have an Eve Cream/Goldenrod wig I'd still love to see, but it's not urgent or anything.

For now; I'm going to sit back and enjoy the chat and pretty pics. And also ask if anyone knows a good place to buy shoes

I've seen some good comparisons you all have posted of several dolls with the AQ girls... could you post some pics of your AQ dolls with just minifee? They don't have to be just poses but could just be cute photos of them together. All the minis I have are minifee, and I hated my JID girl so I'm hoping that the AQ dolls aren't quite like JID. XD Thank you again!

Oh no, I thought I'd definitely decided which doll would be my first bjd but now I'm really tempted by Aquarius doll Ella. I only just found out about this company after months of looking... Does anyone have any photos of her to help me decide?

 

I intended to have AQR Ella NS as my girl, Lisette but I decided to get LBS Mia, and Lisette originally Ella was gonna be another girl

aphtaiwan Haha I had a very hard time deciding on a girl when I first found this company. It's funny - I was totally against a Chloe until I saw the tiny little picture of her in LBS at the bottom of her page. Then I was sold. XD I think the rest of her company photos are very unflattering. @_@

Just a note for getting shoes on ebay, be sure to look a the "inner length" to make sure they will fit. Sometimes they can be a bit too narrow or wide though, and they don't normally list the "inner width".

There is a good video on youtube from SDRcow about applying temporary tattoos. Just watched it last night. Here
I do think you could draw those tats on with WC pencils. Just might be time consuming. If you make them in photoshop or something, you could print them out and apply them as well. Then if it ever chips, you could re-print without having to re-draw the whole thing.

I'm deciding between Ella and dreaming doll misora... I want her to be a brunette though, so I'm not sure about Ella's blonde eyebrows - there doesn't seem to be any make up choice for her - why is that? It's my first full so I want to get the default make up.

Mia, Ella and Ava all appear as seperate dolls for each resin colour, and a different face-up for each. All the other dolls only appear once, but have the option to choose resin colour and the choice of two face-ups. Would it be worth asking Aquarius Doll if they could put the Tan or White skin face-up on a Normal Skin Ella?

 

Minimoon ImpishParody is right - I bet if you asked if you could get her with one of those other face ups, they'd do that for you. Ella, Ava and Mia were their first dolls, so they set their sale pages up differently.

Side note - I went through some of my first pictures of Maya on Flickr earlier...cringe central. Those terrible eyelashes, eye placement, poses, lighting...blegh. XD

 

Oh, I see what you mean. I noticed the others had make up A and make up B but that's just to match the resin colour. I like the rest of her make up so I could just choose wigs with bangs that cover her eyebrows! Thanks for the help!

I ordered a NS Ella two weeks ago and I requested Aquarius Doll for heavier makeup specifically like Olivia's Type B faceup. They were very accommodating and agreed to my request.

I think if you give them an example of the current faceup available on their other dolls, they will be happy to help you.

I cut Maya's hair...o___o I was showing my husband a few dolls on Flickr and I mentioned in passing that I thought her wig was sooo long, and he asked, "Why don't you cut it?" and I was like, "...duh -_-" So..that happened. XD I like it though! Much more than the single length looonnngg thing it was previously.

Although I am pretty nervous about buying clothes and wigs to fit her, I have bought quite a number of items... Just wondering, will LUTS 6-7 inch wig be a good fit? I bought two LUTS 6-7 inch wigs before I came across a few posts in this thread that said 6-6.5 inch wigs are perfect for Aquarius Dolls.

That's really strange how they're happy to replace an entire face-up, but won't let me change only the eyebrow colour on Chloe's face-up. I wonder why that is? Awesome that you're getting your girl as you wanted though! I'd also love to see pics when she arrives!

Maybe referencing will help, it does not hurt to ask them again!

Do you guys know how the light brown skin ages? Does it bleach fast/slow/evenly/very yellow?… I'm thinking more and more about getting her in tan instead of normal skin...

I remember you were saying that you were concerned about her eye size...she wears an 8mm right? Have you tried just turning them (a lot!) so that she looks out the side (kind of how I have Maya's) so that more of the white shows? It'd suck for you to have to get new eyes...the color of the ones you have for her now are beautiful. D:

I haven't noticed any kind of aging on the color of my girls skin, BUT I generally keep her out of the sun pretty well, and I've only had her since February. XD So I can't say for certain. Doesn't help that the company has only been around since last January! XD

Has anyone else noticed that Face-Up and A and B are exactly the same for Chloe and Charlotte, and Oliva and Ruby? Mia's, Ella's and Ava's face-ups are also exactly the same - do you think Aquarius Doll releases dolls and face-ups in pairs?

ImpishParody I noticed that! Honestly, I was super confused when I first found them because of how they dressed Ella, Ava and Mia to match depending on the skin type...I wish they had used different clothes and expressions and outfits and stuff for those images. XD

 

I am getting an AQR doll as my first bjd (hopefully). I also happen to lose interest on LBS Mia.
Its just so happen she isn't perfect for my character

I would def go with a 6-7 size wig. I have a few 7-8 ones from different companies and none on them fit my girl. Much too big. (that blonde wig in the pic I posted before is a 7-8, and it's being held/smooshed down with clear elastics and a flower crown. haha XD )

I have a long rainbow wig (from happy camille) that is so beautiful, but DANG you can't do much with it because of the length. I'm planning on cutting it to about shoulder length, and using the off-cuts to make one of those "hair bows". We'll see how it goes. lol

sarisen, You're so welcome! Yup, you can indeed seal it with MSC to really protect it afterwards. There are also people who have sealed tattoos with Hard Coat Modge Podge, and let that cure for a couple of weeks. (a long time I know yikes!) However, they were putting it on a jointing break, where it would rub off over time. Letting it cure fully make it rock hard, and the tattoo will probably not rub off until you soak the resin piece in water to soften the modge podge over a few days.
Thanks about the wig! I have no idea about aging on these tan dolls. My girl, Nashira, was a gift last Christmas, so that's as long as I've had her. She has been taken with me to several meets, and I haven't noticed a change in her resin color yet. I CAN say that the LBS tan color is gorgeous! A light but rich color, and they don't even charge extra for it. :O Plus, the seams on my girl are pretty much non-existent.

I think to make the 'bow' out of the hair, I'll need to separate the color parts first with little bands, then cut off about the length I want. That way I can keep the color in their chunks to use for gluing the bow together, then trim/clean up the wig length. (That's how I'll probably go about it at least.)
