April Story SD Boy & Girl Dolls - Part 2

I got my shipping notice & tracking number today too! I am beyond excited to get my fall. I paid him off on July 15th after a 4 month layaway fyi. Hopefully everyone whose still waiting on their dolls will get their own notices soon!

 

They say there's a 30-60 day turn-around for dolls ordered in this Oct 26-November 30th window. I think I ordered my Senior Girl body on the 24th? So we'll see how soon it ships!

While I'm here, I've been trying to find some shoes for her heel feet/legs. They seem so small! Can she honestly wear some MSD heels?

 

My Fall arrived today! I'll share a photo of him on the weekend for sure . Update: here's a teaser pic of him just out of the box. I've named him until, now to see if it sticks.

 

Here's a photo of Hunter with a wig and properly dressed. All of the SD17 clothes I bought him fit quite well! I am happy to say he's well worth the wait. I can't wait until the weekend when I can do a proper shoot with him though and really review his body posting etc.

Thank you! He's quite the looker, I am such a fan of the Fall mold, even more now that I own one. His shirt is from an etsy store, as is the vest, which came with a suit set. While his bowtie is from Rrabbit. His pants, which you really can't see, are from Nine9Style. Basically anything SD17 size fits them, from what I've seen so far.

 

I am getting a little mad now. I asked when my doll would be ready, as they said end of October. Now they told me end of November or longer. Frustrating.

 

They are very bad at estimating when dolls will be shipped. But they do eventually ship and they are beautiful. April Story is not alone in this problem! I rarely ask any company when the dolls will ship..

 

Sometimes one needs to ask, like when I was planning our holiday, but they gave so many different dates, in the end we just cancelled our trip.

So I fully understand Nieomy's frustration.

Mine is supposed to be shipping on the 11th, but that's yet to be seen to be believed.

EDIT 11/11/15: I should have placed a bet that it WOULD NOT SHIP ON THE 11th ... IT DIDN'T Then they said it would go this Friday 13th.

Anyone considering ordering from AS should be aware they will be facing extrmely long delays and many broken promises. I will NEVER deal with this company again.

 

When I got my package with the two dolls which I ordered during the event, there was no Ishyllia's head. So I wrote AS about is, they said they were apologizing and going to send it in a week, so 1.5 weeks already passed. It's gonna be a long, long, long epopee...

But regarding the other doll, whose head I (wow!) have, I just got photo of his face up. Because I study in another country and can't take my own picture of him, I'm uploading the faceuper's photo, hope she's not against that. His name is Listopad, it's "defoliage" in Russian, so English version of his name is Fall. That was a funny stroy - I wanted to find a doll for my character, whom I associated with the fall season, and I found the New Fall doll xDD I thought it was fate lol. It actually is. That's weird though when usually people name their dolls after the firm's name, and I have everything vice versa
And yes, he bites his lips A LOT. That's why they're so... bloody.

So yeah, I have my Fall, and his potential girlfriend is somewhere far far away.
(They didn't even include the hook for her head. Just body with a little kind of stick instead.)

He looks really great, Simiram! I'm really sorry to hear about the missing head. I remember reading your question on the board and thinking, "C'mon, guys!" I hope you get it soon! I wonder what the heck happened there...

Just finished the face-up for my girl. Unfortunately, she's off-topic in this thread until she gets that senior body.

 

I have seen it posted several times that either the head of body makes a doll on topic for a thread. So post your girl!

 

Hello everyone, nice to meet you! I'm new to the BJD scene, before this I mostly collect blythe! Just this year I decided to purchase my very first BJD off april story, and omg, I think I'm getting hooked T.T it's really so expensive, but so worth it as well!! I'm really in awe of everyone who managed to work hard and save that amount of money!! Anyway, here's the doll that got me addicted:



Just looking at him makes my heart stop i swear :'D The face up is GORGEOUS and well worth the wait!! My lousy camera could not capture how good he looks in real life! So hang in there everyone who's waiting for their dolls! I'm already shopping for new clothes, eyes, wigs, accessories, etc....and maybe doing a bit of research on another potential doll i may get ^^"

New Fall is such a pretty sculpt! I love the hair you picked for him. I was thinking about buying New Lilian, but I can't manage, even with the amazing sale happening right now. I wish the best for AprilStory though.

 

Ahhh thank you!! I'm currently shopping for a dark colored wig and maybe a suit so he would look similar to his promo photos! ^^ but this sculpt pretty much goes well with a lot of looks I think!

 

These guy wear SD17 sized clothes very well, so a wide variety of clothes is available! You can't beat the quality of Freedom Teller suits!

 

Oh yes I've heard of freedom teller and have checked them out! The suits do look fantastic! I was so tempted haha..that price though, time for some serious saving up ^^"

 

Well the news about the fire in April Story's warehouse is more than little concerning :/ Given that they seem delayed already I can't imagine seeing my September order for quite a while now!!

 

Mmm, now I wonder if that means my doll that was promised (for the umteenth time) to be shipped on the 11th, then again on the 13th is now going to be shipped in two weeks time????

Excuse me while I have an hysterical fit and pull the last of my hair out!!!

P.S. I don't know how many more delays I can take, their promises were being broken long before the fire!! It all seems like another well timed excuse to me.

 

Hello! Hmmm If I'm not wrong, I read on their webpage saying that there's a fire that broke out near their factory and a lot of their supplies and materials were affected! I think this may have possibly contributed to their delay

 

Do you guys think they might sell any heads? I asked and they said that they are going to talk to the sculptures about it. Hope they make an anoucment soon.

 

I'd love it they would! I would really like to buy a Raven head and I'm sad that I'll loose my chance to since I can afford to buy a full doll right now.

 

Hi all
I'm ordering a junior body at the end of the week (finally a short mature SD body!) but am still so conflicted on what colour skin to order! Just how white is their white skin? I've handled a few AS NS heads and they've all seemed very yellow so I'm a bit loathed to order it in NS.

Am hoping to get it a Supia head if it helps at all

 

I think Supia WS would work well with April Story WS, but I can check tomorrow.

 

Does anyone remeber when 4S first opened and they had a sculpt named Olivia? It looked different than the New Olivia, without teeth. Did they discontinue her? I asked on the message board if she was still for sale, but only the New sculpt is. Anyone have any insight?

That's how it was for me too! My boyfriend and I got pretty pissed each time they lied to us. We got another 1+1 from them and hopefully our first order will ship soon!

 

Well at long last I've finally got a shipping notice! Hopefully your first order will ship soon, but you're game ordering from them again. I won't ever, they've done their dash with me, after all the lies I've lost complete faith in this company!!

 

I panicked and got the two for one of New Raven and Anthony on layaway. with the points they owed me for delayed shipment of my new fall, my $690 total went to $565. so thank god for that.

 

I ordered a couple of bodies from them using layaway and I really hope I get them before summer. Though I recently waited over a year for a doll so I guess some months extra with these bodies won't feel too bad. Those Junior bodies I ordered were just too pretty to resist. ^^;

 

Hello! Does anyone know what wig size from leekeworld fits new fall's head? I would guess around sd17 size, but the wig i got from luts was too big! It was supposed to fit sd17 i think?

 

My Fall is a pinhead. He wears a small wig, maybe an 8/9, closer to a true 8. a silicon wig cap might help. My boy wears a custom fit fur wig in the mean time.

Well my girl finally turned up today, and although I love her face up, I have found the stringing somewhat confusing. It's very loose and her legs keep twisting sideways. Plus I cannot for the life of me, figure how to attach her hands. Is there a post anywhere that shows how to do this? ANY HELP WOULD BE APPRECIATED.

 

There are two small s-hooks. Replace the little stick with an s-hook turning it so it sits in the grooves. Put the hand on the hook and pull it out and turn it goes through the slot . Here's a picture pf my Anthony's hand off.


For the girls, I did have to use some pliers to flatten the s-hook. I'm going to order some slightly smaller hooks for the girls,

 

Thanks Nancy, I still had trouble getting the little lip to sit in the groove on one hand and when it ffinally did, the hook wouldn't go back up the arm. I think your suggestion of smaller S hooks might work better, but I will try using the pliers on these ones first.

Did you have any trouble with your doll's legs crossing? Mine keep twisting inwards, I think it's because the elastic is loose, but I'm not sure and there were no stringing instructions included for this doll, so I'm a bit unsure the best way to tighten them.

 

My girls legs do turn also. I haven't had time to work on that yet!

 

I'm going to try and tighten the string and see if it makes any difference. Might take me a day or two, but will let you know how I go.

Sorry to butt in, I just stumbled across AprilStory's "1+1 event" thingy ... I've had Adrienne on my wishlist for a while and now I'm considering getting a boy too, but i haven't quite made up my mind. (I definitely need a boy body for an incoming head, does anyone happen to know whether AprilStory's normal skin matches Dollmore's?)

Either way, I'm on the hunt for owner pics! Especially Raven and Heron ... does anyone happen to have either of them?

 

I ordered them for 1+1 and they just got here. LOVE raven. Heron - not sure if I like this renewed version better or the older one? happy to post pic if you want to see them w/o face ups.

Thank you! Apparently Dollmore and AprilStory are a close enough match for hybriding, so my incoming Dollmore head will definitely get the boy body.

I had another idea the other day ... are Adrian and Adrienne the same sculpt? (I can't tell how much is the faceup and what's the actual head ) If they are indeed the same sculpt, I could make one human, one modded version ...
Also, which shoes fit the girl body? I mostly have Iple girls so far and their feet are on the big side ...

 

I asked aprilstory about boy and girl head/body changes before settling on raven and heron and they said boy head would be too big for the girl body. so maybe they're the same sculpt but sized differently?

I just want to say that you had better check the April Story website, there was a fire in a warehouse next door. Orders that are being processed already should be fine, but they are going to discontinue some dolls.
Does anyone have an email address for them? [email protected] is not working.

 

It's confusing ... they said they decided to discontinue all dolls after 11/30, then later in the same announcement it says they'll discontinue all current items after the event ends on 12/31, or sooner if they run out of molds. So far all the dolls are still marked for/on sale, though, so I guess (read: hope) the 12/31 date is the correct one. Guess I'll find out soon

 

I don't have the body yet, so I can't answer about the shoes for certain except for what I've been researching. I hope someone here can help! It looks to me like the high heel feet will fit in DD heels, but they are much smaller than other SD feet. My girl will be in heels pretty much all of the time, so I don't know what to tell you about flats. They may fit in more SD shoes because they are bigger than the heel feet.

I ordered Lillian on a Junior body (no faceup) in mid October. I asked about an expected ship date yesterday, and was told 'not before the end of December'. So I'll relax and quit hitting refresh on my order page for the rest of the month!

 

Is that the default face-up? The lashes and brows look so much darker than in the preview pictures... I ordered myself a Stella at the end of November and asked the face-up to look like the one in the preview images. Do you think they'll do that or will it show up looking like that? It's pretty and all, but the character I was going to make mine into is very fair with light blonde hair and I think such dark brows/lashes will look a bit out of place.

 

I'm two days away from the 60-day mark on my order. I promised myself I wouldn't ask them until that day. It's getting really hard to wait, lol. It's still processing, so I'm not going to get my hopes up.

 

Are the wrist joints on the Junior bodies compatible with Resinsoul jointed hands?

 

Sorry if this is a little late, but I remember seeing April Story's reply to this on the Item Q&A on Adrian's page (from when I ordered him last month)! After tracking it down again, it seems like they're variations on each other, but with some differences. Adrienne is meant to go on a girl body, so her head is at least a little smaller. There are also some subtle changes in the sculpt - "the shape of mouth and jaw line", to quote the April Story rep.

My junior girl body which I ordered mid September just turned up out of the blue, no shipping notice! I got it for my Ada Dan Nightingale head and it actually works really well in terms of colour and proportion considering I just took a gamble because the body was so cheap, lol. The twisty legs are driving me nuts though and I'm having trouble with the knees but hopefully if I string the whole thing tighter it will be a bit better.

 

Yay! I ordered mid-October, so...maybe next month? lol. The legs are a problem for everyone aren't they? I hope all it takes is some tightening.
