Said so..i've spent almost two hours of work on my rita head today, i need to reinforce entirely her head from the inside, from eyewells to headcape such an hard job! I recommend to everyone to do it on their Rita head cause eyewells are scary thin.

$abbatha good luck with the modifications. I've had a couple of dolls with this problem and I didn't think to reinforce--what are using for this work?

 

Did the same with my Barbara head using marble paste, her hedcape was thin just in the middle of it and also her eyelidis(both parts as she came with these as extra pieces), plus eyesocket, i was a bit relieved that i've paied her with discount...

I got merely two choice: silver milliput and marble paste from Vallejo, the marble paste is surely better, cause it's fluid and dense so easy to put in eyewells and other difficult areas using a brush, but due to the severe thinness of Rita head i decided to use milliput instead..now surely extra fine is better but i got underhand silver milliput, that is the medium one and i used it.
I agree with $avage that due to conditions of my head will not worth more the price i paid for it, instead i'm glad i paid Rita head merely $70usd..

I got an answer from Elfdoll..UNLUCKILY, I'm not able to read it since the Q&A system of that website is totally horrible..keeps saying my password is wrong, so I posted another question -.-' asking them to mail me.
How come there's no another way to communicate with them???!! I visited their website for a while but couldn't find any other informations, such as email or aything else...

Honestly, I don't think you will really get anything informative from Oka. In a very big chance, she would say the update time is unknown and it will depend on the stock conditions and etc. Another thing Oka will always say is: "let me check with product team, and get back to you", but HOW and WHEN? The Q&A board is very quick to confirm money only.

If you ask when my order will be shipped out. The answer would be "let me check with shipping team"
If you ask whether some doll is in stock. The answer would be "let me check with product team"

Thanks, $avage! So a 60 cm (or plus) body would work better? I was browsing for resin matches and hybrids and found an interesting hybrid with a Blossom Doll body, that I love so much, but I don't know if the resin would match
I also saw a new company called Guu Doll that makes a nice double jointed body for a reasonable price, but it's 58 cm...

$abbatha Oh you finally did it?! Will you be able to share some pics with me one day? I still have to do Clove's and my new girl whenever she arrives. I wish Rita's eyewells were like my Vivien and Hazy. They have lovely thickness to their eyewells. Not that horrible type that's so thick you can't even see their eyes unless you use really small ones and a super bright and horrible flash, but decent thickness you know. I'm still terrified that one day I'm going to break Clove's just by putting in or taking out her eyes...

christinopia sure a 60Cm body will works great with Elfdoll heads, someone have also used SpiritDoll proud body.About rsin macth i cannot tell that much, but Snow color have a good match with MiroDoll NS, overall a good one, instead not such good match with normal elfdoll which have definitely a lovely peachy shading while NS MirdoDoll would look definitely too light, hoe this helps

 

Ok first the match: snow skin elfdoll is a very good match with Mirodoll NS anyway i guess that some blushing could do the trick

Regarding the Rita head, i don't know if piccies could be helpful but as soon as i have time i will post here, again i do recommend to reinforce all the head head cape included cause it's too thin to sleep on it
Again i've used silver milliput but i soften it a little using warm water, i've just sink the little amount of milliput into the water then modeled in thin layers and applied inside the head just fingers, i've just not applied near the hole for hook, then i also needed to remove cause the head was not able to close due to amount of milliput
So i guess that if some of you is going to try milliput route well better to use the extra fine type. Hope it helps.

 

christinopia I've had good luck with Oasis Doll bodies--I think they were produced-handled by Elfdoll. The It-girl body is an excellent fit and she's about 61-62 cm with her heel feet. Unfortunately only the elbows are double jointed. Not sure if that would be tall enough.

$abbatha thanks for the info about your eye repair adventures--I have a head with a small crack in the eyelid and I think I'm going to have a go at fixing it.

 

I'm happy to be of some help, if milliput seems to hard then warm water is great to make it soft, also if milliput doesn't stay in place then all you need to do is just wet a little the area and then apply the layer of milliput, it works just great.

 

Arcane: Both the body and the head are the basic, normal skin. It's not a perfect match, but it's completely passable. I was worried they'd be too far off, but I guess I got lucky.

My Eun-a is NS, so I think it'll be harder to find a good match...

 

Catalystflours I thought so. Someone here has a NS Rita on the NS Miro body and said it was a fairly close match. So just wanted to check. I only have one girl body and with four girl heads... It's just not gonna work, so I was planning to get a Miro body just for now.

christinopia As LisaMarie said, Oasis-Doll is a pretty good match for NS. I'm planning one for one of my girls actually. They are beautiful. Spiritdoll while not a perfect match is also a fairly good one, I've seen someone put a, I believe it was a Vivien head on Spiritdoll body and it looked lovely. I don't know how big a Eun-A head is, but Vivien is fairly large and looks ok on the SD body, a slightly smaller one will problably looks just as good. Rita I don't think would look too great, not sure, don't have my SD body yet to check and likely won't for a long time. I have also seen those Guu Doll bodies and I'm really in love with how they look, but I have no idea on resin match. If your Eun-A is on the smaller side like my Rita though, a 58cm body would be fine. Good luck! And if I remember any other matches, I'll let you know.

 

christinopia i agree that MiroDoll wouldn't be a good match, as their NS is deffo much more paler, but you could try to ask to the company directly, MiroDoll do usually a matching resin service, give it a try and drop them a mail

 

I tried looking this up, but I am finding many dead links.

My mom has an Elfdoll. I know she's an Elfdoll. I was told she is either a Soah or a Sooah. I have not seen her. Her age is unknown due to my mom finding her at a doll show at least 2 years ago. I cannot confirm anything about the body type beyond she's a big girl. I kind of assume that she's the old body, but I'm on another continent and my mom's chances of checking measurements increase the more good news I bring.

I am now expected to get her new clothes due to being really near Dolk.

I have also been getting -wink-wink-nudge-nudge emails about Dolk having some very nice Doll Heart clothes (because my mom has become enchanted with steampunk).

I found something in the thread about Dollheart tops only fitting for the curvy body, but that's for the newer body? I think?

ArcaneDesires, thanks! I think Eun-a is on the small side since she wears 7-8 size wig, so maybe a 58 cm would be a nice choice. I wrote to the ebay seller that sells Guu Doll and she says the only match she knows is with Volks.

Regarding sizes - Eun-A is slightly smaller than Yuan, but not by much. Yuan wears 7/8 wigs too, though.

 

Myriamel i guess that with no picture or more infos about the body type we can't be of much help

 

Myriamel, if she is on the Elfdoll old body, I can tell you that in the SD13 size, this steampunk outfit fits everywhere but the skirt: http://www.dollheart.com/ld000438-steampunk2011-maryam-p-3770.html#.U6nD6rcU8pE So if you avoid straight fitted skirts, you should be all right.

Regarding which sculpt your mom's doll is: Sooah and Soah look very similar, but Sooah has eyelid creases and a crease in her lower lip. Soah has single eyelids and a smooth lower lip. Hope this helps!

 

christinopia you can try to ask them if can do a lighter or darker color of some of their resin color, on istance you can try ask them a one tone lighter elfdoll home compatible, but i don't assure you that you will have a good match, the only route is sending MiroDoll the headcape of your doll if you want a match

Thanks for that Alewife! I'll pass that on so I can confirm the sculpt. Also, now that there's a very good chance, I will happily start going through outfits to see what would probably work to pass on. (Worse comes to worse, the outfit picked goes on to another girl.)

 

It's nice to have dolls in different sizes. You can always find someone it fits.

 

You can also try ImplDoll, see if their sculpts could suit your tastes

 

Myriamel: If you're trying to figure out which body she is on, from memory there are 3-4 generations of bodies. I've attempted to list them from oldest to newest:-

1. Overall this body was chubbier and more natural looking. Single-jointed. It came with 2 bust size options, small and large. Small bust bodies had a 2-part torso, large-bust bodies had a 3-part torso.

2. Slightly slimmer overall. Double-jointed. Introduced the "squished boob" look. No bust options.

3. Revamp of the 2nd generation body. From what I understand it was mostly the same, except the nipples are more defined, and it had magnetic hands and feet.

4. Newest body that's still up on the website. Massive increase in boob shape! (although according to Elfdoll's official measurements they are the same size.) Torso was shortened. Again, no bust options.

Hello there!

Has been a while since my last post! How are you all doing?

Since I see you've been talking about good matches between EF and Mirodoll again, I second that EF WS is the closest match with the Miro NS.
Elfdoll NS is a lot pinker than MD (I own both a EF WS (Eun-A) and NS (Rita) and the MD body fits surely the WS better).

In a week or so I'll receive a Granado Maiden body in NS, which will probably be quite pink as well. I will let you know if the match with the EF NS will be a good one or not

 

So... From $abatha's photo comparison it seems like elfdoll Snow skin might be a better match for Volks than the current pinkish normal skin. Does anyone have this combination?

Also, any idea how often Elfdoll releases the Vivien sculpt? I'm kicking myself for missing the last sale because now it seems they are up in huge air to rerelease them at all!

 

Hi! I saw your pictures in Flickr about Elfdoll/Mirodoll match.
Hope the Granado resin will be a better match, are you going to hybrid it with Elfdoll NS?

 

Does anyone know if Emma and Vivien faces/heads are the same size? I know Vivien is a bit bigger and wondered if Emma is the same? If so, maybe I could try an Emma on my boy body since they seem easier to come by.

 

About resin match when Rita snow white head arrived along with my Barbara head(me and $abbatha merged our orders from Elfodll cause we're sisters) we made a comparison with MiroDoll NS casted back on DEC 2013 the macth was impressive, but if you comparing Rita head with the last NS batch from MiroDoll June 2014 color is definitely more pink, but not enought pink to match with ElfoDoll normal which my Barbara head is.
About Granado i really cannot tell, i have a Sidonia NS head but she's pretty old guess winter 2012 so even if i'll going to do a comparison it will be useless cause maybe Granado resin colors changed in time...

 

Both my Rita NS head and Mirodoll NS body were made on December 2013 and the match is quite good but not perfect, far away from perfect. Rita head is so very pink! In fact, Elfdoll WS Eun-A was also made on Dec 2013 and the match with the Miro batch from that very same period is quite impressive too.

christinopia that Granado Maiden body wasn't supposed to be for the Rita head, but since Granado just changed their batch, and it's a lot pinker than before (or at least that's what they're saying), I will probably give it a try and see if the Maiden body will be a better match for my Rita head^^ If it will, then the body will be hers lol (and the Mirodoll will become Eun-A's)!

Angelic_Pretty that's correct there isn't any good match between ElfDoll NS and MiroDoll NS But ElfDoll snow white resin color is pretty close to MiroDoll NS so deffo it could be a good match

Those of you have Vivien boys (or know of them)... What bodies do you have them on? Any on the Volks SDGr-B bodies?

 

I don't own an SDGR-B body but if the neck is anything like the necks on other Volks bodies (I've handled an SD17 and used to own an SD10 and SD13) it would be too big for the Vivien head. Vivien has a fairly small neck hole. The only male bodies I have that it fit on were my Domuya bodies and an FDoll body.

 

Thanks andarton, that's kind of what I thought. I tried my Soah's head on the SDGr body I have and I would need to widen the neck hole to make it work. I have a Vivien head coming (yay!) but not sure yet if it will work for the current project. It's such a great sculpt though, I couldn't pass it up!


Andarton - What was your opinion of the Domuya and FDoll bodies posing and aesthetically?

 

ForeverVirginia, I hope your Vivien works out for what you have planned! I had to get one too when I realized they were discontinuing their current sculpts. I'd really wanted to own both Vivien and Yuan one day so I figured I might as well get one of them before I potentially lost the chance to!

As for the bodies I mentioned, I like the Domuya Flexi-Perennial body aesthetically. I think it's a good combination of reasonably flexible without sacrificing the overall look. It does have a bit of trouble sitting up sometimes but once you get it balanced it will stay.

The FDoll body I have is the original single jointed one. It poses fairly well considering the fact that I haven't re-strung it since I got it during their opening event years ago. XD It's a little plain visually. There isn't much detail. But if you are interested in something on the smaller and less muscular side for males, it's a good option.

I'm sure there must be other people with Vivien boys who can recommend some other good fits.

Otherwise there is always neck modding!

I tried 14 mm eyes on Eun-a and didn't like them, too big for my taste. So now she wears 12 mm eyes, I like iris size, but they're too small for her, I mean the "whole" eyes isn't large enough. Any advice?

 

christinopia, congrats on your Eun-a! You could try something like Eyeco, that has larger whites than usual.

 

Alewife she's right! eyeco offers spare eyes size such 11mm 13mm 15mm 17mm and moreover are pretty realistic, worth a try!
