    2. Ah, Bleach - I chose most of my doll sculpts based on whether they could cosplay Bleach, Gintama or both...LOL

    3. Stopped by to post again because I found a new favorite series - Tanaka-kun is Always Listless. I was looking for new stuff to watch on crunchyroll and came across this series. The storyline sounded so ridiculous I had to watch it and I loved it. Something that seems weird to me at first usually ends up being a favorite of mine (like Cuticle Tantei Inaba).

    4. Hello All - My apologies for being away from this chat. Seems from my recent visit to see my doctor in May I picked up a "hitchhiker."
Though I enjoyed a wonderful Memorial Day weekend with my family, after my return to my apt, 2 days after I paid my rent, my bills, I awoke with bad sore throat, runny nose, headache, etc. Yes, I had come down with a nasty respiratory virus that has been circulating thru Florida. So, I'm over half way thru this virus, being kept from pulling my hair out as I was able to watch anime, read my fave manga when I rested in bed. Discovered I can watch anime from internet on my nook. Eventually I'll figure out how to download my fave manga to read on my nook.

My questions for all of you : Seems here with my Cable TV provider, here in USA, "Anime" is shown on the Cartoon Network, and only few Anime are offered to watch. Once in a while rare sighting of better, famous Anime.
Why in the USA Anime seems to be shown only in Cartoon Network, placed in categories with children's cartoons, juvenile?
Yet, in Japan, (Korea? Other Countries?) Anime is shown as mature viewing, for teens, adults, not just children's viewing?

How I miss "The Cutting Edge" special "On Demand" feature for Comcast Cable TV in Washington, DC area.
Loved watching new Anime each week. It was fun, enjoyment as I was introduced to some great anime, some I watch again here in Central Florida, though I watch on internet and now from my nook.
Shame BrightHouse Cable TV - Florida doesn't have "on demand" mature Anime viewing. I pay enough monthly to this cable TV company to keep up the services for phone, internet access, etc.

    5. My favorite anime is Black Butler, but I also love Ao Haru Ride, No Game No Life and Say I Love You!!

    6. Sebby, Hello! Yes, I've enjoyed watching the Anime series "Black Butler."
"Ao Haru Ride," "No Game No Life," and "Say I Love You" are anime I've not seen. They are interesting and I will look for them on the internet.

    7. i know that adultswim was showing anime... for some reason north america has a skewed view that anime is for kids cause its cartoons. most anime i watch would scar a child lol not all anime is for kids that is for sure!

    8. Yessss. This is my favorite show right now. I've been watching a lot of simulcasts this season, and I've dropped a few over the weeks, but this one is my favorite. I save it for last every weekend!

    9. I totally agree... I constantly get the eye roll from my family and friends because I watch "cartoons." They don't get it even when I explain storylines to them. They can't get past the animation. And showing anime on a channel called Cartoon Network perpetuates that mindset. :doh

@bagofspiders - (by the way I love that user name) I can't wait for Tanaka-kun every week! My favorite episode is the one where he gets sick and last night I rewatched the episode where he goes swimming. :mwahaha It's definitely my favorite this summer and probably one of my all-time favorites.

    10. For me one of the best anime is fullmetal Alchemist. I was waited for the every single episode when this anime relised.

    11. As for manga the only one I'm currently reading is Attack on Titan or Shingeki no Kyojin. I use to read Knights of Sodonia now just watch the anime it's a thing with my family every 4th of July now. I also use to read Black Butler, but with both manga I have no idea where I left off on, so heh...

As for anime I'm watching Helita, I'm a few epiosdes in and I didn't realize how short it was! I'm also on the first season. I could bust through it but I like watching it when I'm taking sewing breaks.

    12. "Black Butler," "Book of Circus" has been dubbed into English, and the English language voice actor for Sebastian did his voice for this anime series. Looking forward to watching and hearing this English dubbed version after watching several times the Anime subbed version.
"Cowboy Beebop" I bought the anime Movie version after having watched the anime TV episodes on cable TV Cartoon Network.
I started watching anime in '2004, it is amazing how many different anime series, movies, are available now. And I've watched some on the internet.

    13. I know right? I remember when the only way you could watch anime was to catch it on Toonami or Sci-fi Channel's Saturday Anime block, rent one of the very few titles that your local video store carried, or order VHS/DVDs online.
I love how easy it is to watch anime now. :)

    14. Yes, I, too have watched anime on Toonami, Sci-fi TV channel from BrightHouse cable TV.
When I was living in Maryland, the cable TV has special "on demand" section with lots of Anime. After work I would watch the anime and select my favorites. Some anime series I bought as I knew they were faves, I wanted to watch them again, and again.
Glad I bought my anime faves! When my family and I moved to Central Florida we got new different cable TV provider. This provider doesn't offer special Anime section with variety of anime series. Disappointment as area of Orlando, FL hosts conventions featuring anime.
Anyway, like you have found, I found some Anime series on the internet to watch for free.
And, for those who like "Black Butler" Anime episodes, search the internet to find video of "Black Butler" Live Action Musical Stage Show. The actor/singer who plays Sebastiian is amazing.
From around '2004, the creators of the various Anime wanted to eventually make the most popular Manga, Anime into Live Action Movies, Live Action Theatre Productions. I purchased two of them on DVDs. Interesting how the Manga/Amine is translated to live actors in various theatre sets, live/action scenes, computer graphics, music, sound effects.
The funniest Live Action movie made from Manga/Anime is "Ouran HS Host Club." Although not exactly like the Mange, Anime, its funny, follows the basic story line, has same characters, humorous actions.

    15. Bleach brings good memories) It was my first anime and the very one that made me realize where would my drawing style could fit) There were not much different drawing styles in anime in my teen ages so i missed a lot of time but better late than never) i'm a fan of asian drawing style in the whole, not just anime and hope to draw manga professionally in Japan some day, yay! sorry for off topic but offtopic in offtopic thread is not that bad i guess ehehe

Anyway, at the moment my favorite manga is Pandora Hearts, Tokyo Ghoul, Naruto, Kuroshitsuji, Yondemasu yo Azazel and maybe something else i forgot) As for anime, this may sound strange, but i really loved Bleach filler arc about Zanpacto

btw some anime is not made from manga but from otome games and this is what i really adore)

    16. Currently I've been obsessing over the WIXOSS anime, new spin-off series this season airing Fridays and I can't wait to see what it gets into. The original series was great.

Other anime I've really liked are Yuri Kuma Arashi, Penguindrum, and Otome Yokai Zakuro. First shows that really drew me in were probably Evangelion, Haibane Renmei, and Yami no Boushi to Hon no Tabibito (which I don't recommend, but is absolutely fascinating if you're never watched anime before).

Normally I don't really watch anime though, I read manga pretty compulsively and will plow through series as long as they're not downright cringey. First series I really got into was Angel Sanctuary of which I own... 19... volumes... I don't want to finish it. :(
Other early ones that drew me in were Anne Freaks, Basara, and Fushigi Yugi. Also liked the Robot anthologies.

Last manga I was reading was Seven Deadly Sins, personally I don't like it, but it's long and I don't have anything else to read right now. Jericho is probably my favorite character so far. My favorite recent manga is probably Inside Mari.

Other than that, the manga I would normally like to read and what I would consider my best and favorites of all time are probably: Nozoki Ana, Blame! (Mensab <3 ), Biomega, Dragonhead, Uzumaki, 7 Seeds, Fist of the Blue Sky, Strawberry Panic, and Suzuka.

The big genres I like are usually horror, survival, yuri, smut, and boxing/regulated martial arts (though I've never participated in organized sports in my life). I'm pretty much over the shoujo stuff of my youth, I'll occasionally read josei as long as the heroine isn't useless.

I can't really get into visual novels, most of them seem like they're written pretty exclusively for men. I tried Kindred Spirits on the Roof but the brown haired ghost girl was super annoying and I didn't like her. I really wanted to like Maggot Baits but there were just too many wangs, same problem with Song of Saya. Dividead had some good moments though.

    17. My favorite anime is Puella Magi Madoka Magica. I love the character designs! But of course the story and characterizations are amazing too. (Didn't care for Rebellion though.) I also enjoyed First Love Monster (Hatsukoi Monster). It's really funny and I find the whole "elementary student who looks like a college student" thing to be unique and interesting.

Fall simulcasting is starting, and I'm watching Classicaloid. There are only two episodes out so far, but I like what I've seen. I love Beet-san; I think his character design is awesome and I love how he yells when he talks, because it's likely a nod to the fact that the real Beethoven was deaf. I also love the muzik sequences, of course.

I'm looking forward to Drifters and Yuri On Ice. I want to watch Drifters because I used to be a huge Hellsing fanatic (they're both made by the same mangaka and animation team). Yuri On Ice sounds interesting because I once saw some anime-style fanart of a real-life Russian figure skater and thought, "Gee, wouldn't it be nice to have an anime about handsome figure skaters?" Then my wish came true lol

    18. Bouncing in again after that epic threadjack a couple months ago --

Am I the only one madly in love with Yuri on Ice?? This show has devoured my brain and it's only three episodes in!

    19. Madoka was the first anime to destroy me, lol.

I actually really love Tokyo Ghoul, especially the manga. Kaneki, my boy...

    20. It sounds like you and I are opposites then, because Madoka didn't upset me much at all, but Tokyo Ghoul made me feel physically ill due to its gore and cannibalism themes (I had similar feelings about Attack on Titan too).

The one anime that I was able to watch from start to finish but completely destroyed me was Neon Genesis Evangelion. I had nightmares about that one literally for years after I finished it. Still, I don't regret watching it because it's considered a classic (albeit a divisive one; I personally thought it was very well done and has aged beautifully, if not in terms of art then certainly in terms of storytelling and characterization) and I can also appreciate the appeal of Rei and Asuka.

    21. Finally got around to checking this out because I keep seeing so much about it. I just binged the first 5 eps today and was expecting it to be painfully cheesy but it's totally not and I'm really digging it. I'll definitely keep watching. :whee: I'm, like, super interested to see how the characters continue to develop now.

    22. I KNOW, RIGHT? This show seriously got its hooks in me and I cannot waaaaaaait until Wednesday and the next episode. Viktor is my precious and I want to hug him.

    23. I want to go just rewatch it all again. At the end of ep 3, I'm fairly sure I was making the same expression as Minako was. :P I think I'm much more focused on Yuuri than Viktor but omg are they just entrancing to watch them interacting together.

    24. Me at the end of ep 3: They can't top that.
Me at the end of ep 4: Holy shit they did they can't do it again.
Me at the end of ep 5: Holy shit they did they can't do it again...

I think it's going to become a theme. I've got ep 5 rerunning as I type this.

    25.

It will be interesting to see how Phichit plays in.

    26. I cannot WAIT, man. I love that kid already and we've barely seen him.

Edit: HOLY SHIT THEY ACTUALLY TOPPED LAST WEEK OH GOD THAT SHORT PROGRAM I'M DYING ALL OVER THE PLACE

      :...(:nosebleed *sucker punched*
Confidence is growing some there isn't it, Yuuri!?

There were quite legitimate rivals but
Omg Chris... I don't even. Then the judges faces lolol

    28. THAT LINE. I just about died on the spot and went straight to Victuuri heaven. (SO not gonna lie, I ship it like FedEx.)

And I cannot even with Chris. I kind of think I love him in his outrageousness.

11/16 edit: OH MY GOD THEY DID IT

    29. I... I don't know!!!!! That camera angle though! It was glorious either way.

I think we all knew Yuuri would be feeling the pressure this week.

I liked the flashback of Viktor and Chris and that Chris' performance was toned down this time, but still kept his sexiness (man that outfit) which suits him.

I love how the "stories" the skaters play out reflect their focus and drive in their performance. Georgi stumbles when his emotions about Anya get too overwhelming. Guong-Hong has to remind himself where in the narrative he is after his fall.
Phichit has such great personal style and did so perfectly. Leo has great style too but has growing to do. This show continues to be amazing and of course Yuuri and Viktor's dynamic is just... too much to articulate right now. Just how both of them want nothing more than to be the best they can be for the sake of the other and give all they can any way they can think of how.

(Side note also on the nap scene: Yuuri doesn't yell "What are you doing?!" or any thing like that when Viktor lays on him. Nope it's "Did you set an alarm!" *me gusta*)

Ready for Yuuri vs Yuri showdown!

    30. I cannot. I just cannot, I have spent the last few hours in varying states of flail. This made me SO HAPPY, both from a plot-lover's standpoint and a shipper's standpoint. God, Victor. ILU. I think honestly what I love most about this show is that it's a realistic relationship. Nothing charmed, nothing contrived. Real. The look on Yuuri's face right there at the end just slayed me so dead. (Also GOD YES I'm glad I'm not the only one who noticed that about the nap scene.)

This show has just devoured my soul and I love the supporting characters as much as I love the main ones. Phichit is just a joy and I can't NOT crack up at Chris. I can't.

      Bring on Russia!

(Also loved how Yuuri's mom did not in the least look surprised when Victor pulled That Stunt.)

    31. did you see the live action trailer?

    32. <commence Episode 8 reaction, mostly spoiler-free>

OH NO THEY DID NOT DO THAT OH NO

      Ahem.

Anyway, OH NOES aside, I think I fucking ADORE JJ. He really is the cocky little shit I was hoping he'd be and that makes me so blissed out. Also he's a Miyano character and I've loved Miyano Mamoru since waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay back when he was in the Prince of Tennis stage musicals (yes!!) so of course that makes me happy.

BUT HOW COULD THEY DO THAT TO US??

      </Episode 8 reaction>

    33. MAKKACHIN! Why?!

*is more upset we now likely have no chance to get to see Victor/Yuuri fun times around Victor's home turf than I am about the dog. I'm probably a horrible person*

Yurios hair is getting so long and that amuses me greatly. He's just so very.. angry. I love him.

JJ is so narcissistic. I guess at least he has the skills to back that up. I think he'll definitely be a formidable competitor in the Grand Prix.
Still not sure of my feelings on the other characters. I need to re-watch.

Was interesting to see the scene with the necktie from the preview in context. I'm kinda feeling like maybe I'm over analyzing it so I won't commment more on it now.

This ep left me feeling A bit cut off. The wait until next week will be difficult. I want to know what happens!!!

    34. I was all like NO DON'T YOU DARE HURT MAKKACHIN HOW COULD YOU through the whole thing.

I kind of totally fell in love with Yurio this ep, when he tackled his grandpa like some kind of five-year-old. It was so damn cute and such a nice thing to see a different facet of the Angry Ice Kitten. (Ice Tiger my ass.) And I'm damn proud of myself for calling Otabek as being a Grand Prix finalist. Currently wagering the final will be Yuuri, Yuri, Phichit, Christophe, JJ, and Otabek, based purely on who's getting the most airtime. (IT'S JJ STYLE kills me every damn time.)

Currently betting that Yuuri will place second or third and qualify that way. He'll go for the quad flip again and fall but hold on enough to medal.

    35. I haven't been tracking everyone's points closely enough to predict who's going to the Grand Prix but I strangely kinda want to see more of Georgi and Chris. I think probably this is because they both seem to have a lot going on in their psyche that I'd like to see them work out.
Yurio really did have some great screen time this ep. I love how Victor and Yuuri cheering for him just pissed him off so much because he's trying so hard to be competitive with them.
Suddenly 4 more episodes seems like not enough, especially for Yuuri and Victor. I'm still enjoying every minute of this so much that I don't want to think of it ending yet though.

    36. There's a points tracker at the beginning of the ep but I'm basing my supposition around who's getting the most screen time. Chris has already qualified so he's a given. Otabek has also already qualified. Georgi is out, sadly, because I loved that scrub too. Phichit's qualification depends on who places where at Rostelecom but he's gotten so much screentime I think he's in. Yuuri and Yuri, obvs, because story, and JJ is getting the not-Yuuri-and-Yuri screentime so far so I think he's #6.

I really do love that Yuuri and Victor just want Yurio to do awesome. They're not wishing for him to go down, they want a challenge and a good rivalry and I think they legit like the kid even though he pretends he hates them both.

I agree though -- four more eps does not seem like enough for that relationship. I think this should've been a 24-ep show, not a 12.

    37. Ohh my, so happy to find victuri fans here! Ever since I started watching YOI (which was the day the first ep came out) the week to me is like: God I wish today was Wednesday lol. This is the anime that makes me cry and laugh and scream for the same episode all the time. I sincerely hope they will make a second series or an OVA, but I am now more concerned about what Victor and Yuuri would end up become. I mean as much as I want them to become couple at the end of the series, it is not likely that the producer will do it. Nonetheless, after the ep 7, everything can be possible now right?

    38. Been spending all morning binging on Drifters, which is ridiculous and insane and very Hirano Kouta so I love it.

Also I sort of screamed because I cannot believe they are doing a full Code Geass sequel. I also can't believe it's been 10 years since the first season. I feel old. But I'm curious because I LOVED the R2 ending and don't want to see that sullied even if I would love to have more of my dysfunctional faves.

    39. I recently went on a bing, I watched all of Shiki, Death Parade, and Blood Lad in about a week lol. I really should finally watch Code Geass and catch up on Drifters.

    40. @nemirorox I totally feel you; I live for Wednesdays right now. I'm trying not to get too caught up in how I *want* the season to end but I don't think them beginning an "official" couple is out of the picture at all with what is going on right now.

@Kim You remind me that I really need to get started on Drifters myself. Hellsing is and probably always will be my fav anime and with Yasushi Ishii doing the music just like on Hellsing as well, I don't know what I'm doing with my life that I'm not watching yet, haha.

    41. Help me....I've wandered into yaoi....I started watching Junjo Romantica....

    42. Ah, man today's ep.

THEY LOVE EACHOTHER SO MUCH, I'M GONNA DIE!

And Yurio, d'awww. He really does look up to Yuuri and supports him, behind all that anger. His performance was damn amazing too. I'm so proud of him.

    43. OH GOD I DIED ALL OVER THE PLACE. ALL THE LITTLE PIECES OF ME. ALL OVER THE FLOOR. /capslock

I love Yurio so much after this episode. He's adorable, he really likes Yuuri in spite of everything, and he was SO CUTE with the piroshki. And he actually remembered Yuuri's birthday!

Also LOVING that Phichit has a selfie stick. I demand Phichit instagramming EVERYTHING.

    44. I totally giggled about the selfie stick.
Also, Georgi and Mickey should be friends. And
      Seung-Gil totally needed that hug.

What is it about this show that I eventually develop an affection for Every Single Character.....

I am going to be reeling about everything that went on in the end credits and after the ED all weekend in sure.
I'm still sqealing over, like, the feet schuffles and facial expressions b/w Yuuri and Victor at the airport. :whee:

    45. I will be flailing over the airport scene for the next week until they give me something else to flail about. :D

I cannot wait to meet Otabek. AND SEE CHRIS AGAIN OMG.

    46. I'm currently reading elDLIVE, it's a really cool manga made by the same author as Katekyo Hitman Reborn! Gosh I love it so much, even more than KHR xD

And it's getting an anime too!! I'm still crying happy tears at the fact that the main character will be voiced by the sane person who voiced hinata from haikyuu >o<

    47. I'm finishing the second season of tokyo ghoul as well as watching junjo romantica.

    48. Has anyone seen episode 10 of YOI yet? I'm crying!

    50. Who would've thought that Yuri and Victor actually interacted with each other long before Victor became his coach... I gotta watch the first episode again now that I know that. I always thought Victor was coming on too strong in the first few episodes but it actually makes sense now considering how Yuri was at the banquet. I have a feeling that's the reason Victor assigned 'Eros' to Yuri. Yuri is the playboy that came to town and stole Victor's heart then left or rather, sobered up, and didn't remember a thing the next day! IT MAKES SO MUCH SENSE NOW!

Ahhh... my poor heart can't take this. I'm so anxious about the last two episodes.

    51. Spoilers probably.
      ******************

      THIS SHOW WRECKS ME!!!!!!
So many things make so much more sense now. I privately scoffed at everyone on tumblr going "Omg it's a ring" like nah it's obviously a gold medal and that was a clever tease just to rile us all up. CLEVER TEASE ALRIGHT. YOU SHOWED ME! DAMN!

    52. I am binge-watching the whole damned show from the beginning now thanks to that. It's like...I MUST FIND ALL THE HIDDEN HINTS I MUST I MUST I MUST.

The whole idea that Victor went head over heels for Yuuri MONTHS before he showed up in Hasetsu? I LOVE IT. I'm dead. Dead dead dead. Put me six feet under, bury me in a figure skating costume.

Edit: Okay, I'm sorry, this is the most glorious thing and I love it unabashedly. Mitsuro Kubo tweeted this out:

“No matter what everyone in the real world thinks of this work, the world within it will remain a place where there will be no discrimination for what you love. I will protect that world, no matter what it takes, even if it’s the last thing I do.”

      That? Is beautiful.

    53. So, aside from YoI, what other shows are you guys enjoying this season? I'm currently hooked up on Shuumatsu no Izetta. Even though a lot of people complain about the plot and the relationship between Izetta and Fine, I'm actually really liking it.

    54. Me singing after YOI Ep 11:
Can you hear my heartbeat cause I sure can't... :...(

    55. I knoooooow. I'm not actually overly worried, but GOD way to stop the whole fandom's collective heart there.

      The producers are vicious teases.

    56. I know things will work out at the end and if there was no tension this episode, the next (and the last) episode wouldn't be as rewarding... That being said, you could still hear my heart shatter when Yuri said "...let's end this".

Yuri feels like Victor is being held back, being pulled down by him. He feels like he’s not meeting Victor’s expectations. And after seeing how Victor watched the other skaters (he even left Yuri alone to do the interview to watch Yurio skating), he wants to free Victor from having to stick with him, give him back the freedom to start competing again, cause obviously that’s what he really wants to do (except it’s not). I think Victor made it clear that he was happy with the path he chose at the end of episode 10, but he never made that clear to Yuri. Viktor just needs to tell Yuri how much he changed his life. Yuri has no idea! :atremblin

Ah, I don't know... I'm just trying to make myself feel better. Now we gotta wait for another week to see what happens.

    57. I was expecting this ep to be emotional but ... the after credit scene. Should I trust Kubo and the show staff to not completely break my heart at the end? I think I do but still having to wait a whole week in this suspense!

I honestly felt really bad for JJ. The pressure got to him and broke his confidence so hard. I didn't expect to have such feels for JJ.

But Yurio did so perfectly! The scene in ep 10 where he confronted Victor really did mean a lot. They both now realize that he's taking the place of top skater I think.
It's become so difficult to decide who to root for for gold.

Phichit, I love him and he is such a beautiful skater but I wonder if the difficulty levels of his programs just might not be enough.
Chris, he was so close last year and he could really deserve gold, particularly as he probably won't be skating too many years longer, but I think his type of appeal may not be what the judges are looking for.
Otabek, I can't help but feel his style was a little stiff but he really had so much determination and is a notably unique and clean skater.

Only one more ep now!!! :shudder

Also, Chris in glasses. What? He really has gone from almost painful to watch from his intro. to a really cool guy.

    58. I get the vibe that Chris is one of Victor's only real friends, so I kind of love him to death for that reason alone. Plus his googoo eyes in the last episode? Glorious.

Still rooting hard for Yuuri, but not sorry to see JJ flop mostly because it's the perfect plot device. Yuuri and Yurio amped the hell out of their program difficulty just to beat JJ and now JJ left a gigantic opening at the top of the podium. So now they're literally only chasing each other, since the other skaters' difficulty levels are not as high even though both Otabek (god bless the writers for him) and Chris outscored Yuuri (who was seriously handicapped by going first). It's perfect.

Next week is going to be one big wild half hour ride. I cannot wait. And I hope that somehow, some way, they find a way to make a second season.

      Next Level!!!!!!!

I'm still in a cloud of processing the ending. I was expecting a kiss but what we got was beautiful nonetheless, and now I'm so strung on until there is an official announcement of a 2nd season and what it may bring. So proud of everyone.

    60. KEYSMASHING.

      THAT ENDING THO.

      THAT IS ALL.
