Ah, AS, why must you do this to us? She's lovely, as usual. I just constantly want to buy all their fullsets, haha.

Dawn has been on my mind since she got released early this past year, and she's gotten pushed to the backburner for so long.. If Charlotte is not Limited, I need to get my poor Dawn home first :P

I don't think Charlotte is limited, since she's in their Fullset section. I want to get the dress too, but I literally just made a purchase last night so I'll be holding off for a little bit. Hopefully it's still there when I can get it, haha.

Dawn is super cute! Personally, I'm still in love with Bing Yu-F. She makes me want to get her fullset and not change a single thing about it, so beautiful

Thankfully, Bing-Yu is a touch too mature in the face for me, so I'm safe.. but I adore Charlotte. Would consider a small mod, just to open her eyes a bit.. but we'll see. If I actually win a Volks lotto doll this time, I'll have 5 SD girls, and that's probably enough for a while.

I love Bing-Yu's outfit too. So gorgeous.. I hope AS continues releasing outfits in this style.

 

The more I look at Charlotte the more I like her, but I don't think I can justify to myself getting her when I already have a youthful, sweet looking girl from them. There's not enough room in my cabinet to get dolls I don't absolutely need, haha. But if you do get her eventually I'll expect lots of beautiful photos, please Also, good luck with your Volks lotto!

I'm not sure. I saw that photo on their tumblr months ago, and never saw the dress for sale. I'm not sure if it will be released or not :3

Me too. I would certainly go for this simpler style. It looks like they were toying with the idea of Rapunzel, given how they fashioned Hua Rong's hair in this photo and the lavender that they ended up producing (for Charlotte).

 

I lucked out. My AS girl belongs in flowing things that look like moonlight. She is a (Demi)goddess who works under the god Midnight. I love that dress, but it just doesn't work for her. Thank god, cause I'm expecting her ransom to be pretty big..

I am not sure how to feel about Charlotte coming out. She's so pretty, but I have Cynthia on layaway. Why?! She reminds me of Hua Rong and my msd, Dina. I will have to look at photos of her to see what she looks like. It does seem that the new face ups have the pink around the inside of the eyes, is this maybe a trend with other companies faceups or doll faceups in general? I'm not sure if I am a fan of that particularly, but I really love the rest of her default face up.

I also really love her dress, but I'm hoping it'll be available later or that others like it come out, such as that blue one!

 

Just curious but when you say pink around the inside of eyes, do you mean the waterline and tear duct areas? Because I'm not sure I'd call that a trend, it's how eyes are in real life so they're probably trying to aim for a bit of realism there. I'm not sure how new that is because to be honest I'd never paid attention to it, but I know my XiShi I bought mid 2015 has it so I guess it's at least over a year old of a tendency? It's an interesting thought. Now I feel like checking out faceup photos from other companies too to see if they do it, haha.

Also, very much agreed about the dress.

 

@Yuns Well, I do agree is about being more realistic but dolls are kinda far from it in so many other aspects. My doll is from 2013 I think, so I'm not sure if it was a different faceup artist or if their artist has changed style. I think it may be a difference in how it looks on a more pink skintone compared to solid butter. Is there anywhere in DoA where there's just faceup comparisons?

 

@Royalrosalie I suppose the skintone could affect that too, yeah. I don't recall seeing a place just for faceup comparisons, closest to that is the photo reference forum, I think, but then that's multiple threads rather than one big thread for all companies.

 

I think I know what you mean about the inner eye/ lower eyelid paint. I first noticed it with Peaks Woods decidedly heavier face-ups. I have to say I don't like it all. Perhaps because the color being used leans more toward red than pink. For example their FOC Tristan Beauty & the Beast.

I'm newbie here and l'd like to ask - can you sign in at your Angell-Studio accounts without any problems? Today I've visited AS website and it's total new, I can't sign in there at all... Sorry for my not so good English...

 

It appears they've changed their login system indeed, which is frustrating because now I have no way to access records of my previous transactions with them. Would have been nice if they had at least told us in advance that they were going to do this so we could grab any information we might find important.

 

I had tried to order back in October, so I'm guessing they haven't fixed it. I just sent an email, which Lemon is great for any questions (I usually have a lot of questions anyway) so I would be sending an email anyway. They use Paypal, so it's all fairly easy, but I'm not sure what they may switch to in the future.

 

Maybe they haven't finished converting but I agree it would be nice if they warned us.

 

Here's my Hua Rong I'm waiting for! She had a default face-up and two special face-ups, one with a flower tattoo and this one with the compass tattoo.

@stellarphenomena, OMG. I checked Fabric Friend's website and didn't see any AS 1/3 girls listed! I hadn't thought to check their New Year's sales listings! Thank you so much for letting me know. Unfortunately, I have no desire for her fullset.

@wherethelilacsbloom, thanks for the heads up! You got your Sherry after she sold out, correct? Did you contact AS and ask if they could make her for you?

 

I did, and they did. I will say though, that it was something that I asked about after I had just bought a doll plus three outfits. I don't know if that helped or not. If you plan to ask them, I wish you the best of luck!

If no luck, the Fabric Friends and Dolls option may still be there Selling the fullset or even finding a split partner might ease the financial burden. :3 I would definitely ask them when they got their Sherry though. If she's been in stock for 3 or 4 years, I'd want to know about it.

As to how tall Cynthia is, you can always ask if she's compatible with the 58cm body. Many of their heads can sit on either body. Hua Rong was originally marketed on the 62cm body, but I got mine on the 58, because I wanted her to be the same height as my Sherry.

Also, keep in mind that they will do special face ups for you - ie. picking the face up of another doll to paint on your doll. Cinderella actually has a face that lends itself nicely to a slight smile, too. I am hoping to get her at some point and get a custom face up to make her smile - maybe Mandarava's. If you like her, it's an option. Though I do realize that she's the most baby-faced of all the 1/3 sculpts on their site. Not always what a person wants. Hehe.

Let me know what you decide to do! I'll be cheering for you. I'd love to have a doll in common. ^_^

 

Regarding AS' willingness to make limited sculpts again, I did ask them if they'd make me an Elizabeth because I joined the hobby two weeks after her sales period ended and they said no and that they would not be releasing her again. Which made me quite frustrated when they re-released her on super short notice for the 10th anniversary event a few months later because I had to work hard to get the money in time to get her, only for them to make a Sherry for wherethelilacsbloom some time later. xD (Obviously frustrated at them, not you, wherethelilacsbloom!) So their willingness to take special requests such as that probably does depend on how much you've spent with them. I have a fullset Xi Shi and a blank Elizabeth from them now so I suppose I could test that theory, but I'm not looking forward to buying from them again just yet so it'll have to remain a theory for now.

 

This is a tangent, but has anyone noticed the mobile site has drastically changed? It looks kind of like they've moved it to a new platform and are only partway though setting it up (like it says 'logo' at the top rather than having a logo)

 

It may also depend on the rep you spoke with.. I adore Lemon, but I do have to admit that it was Smhily (I forgot how to spell her name..) that initially passed on my request to her boss. I really like Lemon, and because I like dealing with her, I plan to always make my A-S orders direct, and not through a dealer. But it wasn't Lemon who made that special concession for me.

After paying for my earlier order with Smhily, I mentioned how much I loved Sherry and asked if they were ever going to release her again. Smhily actually offered to ask if they could make me one as a special privilege, and of course, I told her to please ask for me.

As far as I understand, Lemon handles all English-speaking correspondence for them now. But maybe she'll be willing to do the same thing! Who knows. :3 Just thought I should clarify my situation. It might be that you dealt with a different rep than I did when the company handled our requests differently. :3

I'm so glad you got her in the end, though. For what its worth, both of your girls from A-S are absolutely gorgeous.

That is actually a good point, @nancy_schroeder_ca . I think my first order was placed only about 6-7 months after their anniversary event, during which, Sherry might have been available.

 

@Chameleon - They are trying to change their website. They even have a promotion right now because of it - 10% off orders made on the new site, plus a little resin angel for orders over $200 in value. :3

 

Oh no. There are too many tempting things in their store... how long is the promo on?

 

I don't remember if I spoke to Lemon or someone else, but this was before Shmily was around I believe. It makes sense that different people handling orders might be willing to accept different requests, and also the theory that they might have had one left from the anniversary event. What I do remember is how much trouble Shmily caused me back then. I'm glad to have Lemon back, even if she won't offer to sell me a sold out doll, haha.

The new mobile website looks more... Well, mobile-friendly. But it also looks very much like a work in progress, so I think they'll probably be making a few more changes to it as they adapt to the new layout. Or at least put the actual company's name there. :'D

@Yuns - I remember your story about Saga I feel bad that you had such trouble! I've always gotten my A-S orders without issue and have been really happy with them. And yeah, I really like Lemon, too Very friendly and always helpful.

 

My first order with them went super smoothly so I'm sure it was a one time problem. It doesn't make the problem nonexistent, but it surely won't keep me from buying from them again when the time comes! Plus Lemon was very nice and tried really hard to solve my issue so I'd never hold it against her! In the meantime I can admire other people's dolls from there, such as yours.

 

With that much time, I think I may be able to make it happen. I'm sooo broke right now..

 

After some thorough searching, I've discovered that AS has a Taobao shop, and their dolls are sold for significantly cheaper there.

Cynthia is only $334, which is a huge price difference from her $510 base price on the AS English website. I may just order her through Taobao once I get the money.

I'm honestly a little skeeved that they've racked the price up so high for their Western buyers. I had no idea their dolls were so affordable for Chinese buyers.

 

I had never thought of asking if they'd make a doll that wasn't listed on their site. I honestly would still love to look at Sherry and Elizabeth or Hua Rong. Plus the new doll, Charlotte, is so pretty. Do you think it would be possible to see if they would let me trade out Cynthia's head for Charlottes? I'm just so scared I'm not going to bond to Cynthia, but it's hard for me to say probably until I see her in person.

But, I am considering buying an Angell Studio Head, White (Milk 08) , and I was wondering if this head will fit on other bodies, like White Fairyland (Feeple65) or Supiadoll bodies...?? Does anyone now? And how is the color difference, is it noticeable?

 

I keep finding more and more dolls to add to my wishlist. Now it's AS Charlotte. Such a beautiful girl.
I've been a fan of AS for a long time but I've never gotten any of their dolls, I hope Charlotte will be my first.

 

Hello Angell Studio owners! I'm glad to say my girl (Cynthia with 62 cm body with high heel legs) arrived recently, but sad that I don't think she's right for me. She's way too tall for my tastes unfortunately. I was wondering if anyone has an AS 58 cm girl body and/or the older AS body (and how the high heel feet and flat feet work). I am considering buying Charlotte before the event is up and posting Cynthia up, but I'd hate to not like the other body too. I borowed a friend's volks sd and I was shocked at how tall the new AS body is.
Another option is getting a different body for Cynthia, either AS or a match for solid butter.
Any help on here or pm is appreciated!

I've been kind of under the impression that a 1/3 AS girl will be too big for me, but I do really want a Cynthia in Solid Butter. I'm sorry the size hasn't been working out for you. I've had trouble searching the MP for AS resin, myself.

Thank you both I have a dark, curly wig from Tata's Paradise and light blue eyes from the Doll Bakery waiting for him (so much waiting!). He's based on the main character in a sci-fi story I'm writing.

 

I know this thread isn't exactly for Senior dolls, but there's not that many active AS doll discussions... I was wondering if anyone knew if 14mm eyes would work in a Senior boy (says 16mm eyes on the website)? Usually most dolls can take eyes one size down... but I was just curious if anyone actually has tried some on their dolls.

 

You usually can go one size smaller.

 

To be safe, you can always get small iris 16mm (which has the iris of a 14mm pair) though those can be harder to find. Saffrin doll makes them though!

 

I was thinking of Dollbakery, but they don't have 16mm small iris eyes, they only go up to 14mm! Thanks for mentioning Safrin doll. I'll go check them out (I've ordered from them before, but I didn't know they had small iris eyes).
