@wherethelilacsbloom , she's beautiful! AS does a wonderful job with their faceups. Also, lucky you for being able to snag one of Desers' recent dress sets!

 

Thank you @Kimchi ! Lyria and Orianna (Hua Rong and Sherry) each have a Deser's outfit on right now Definitely plan on getting more in the future. I love all of the intricate little details!

And yes, I definitely agree. A-S does some great face ups.

I am already scheming about getting Dawn next. With another custom face up, of course. :P

How much extra are the custom face ups, out of curiosity? @wherethelilacsbloom your Hua Rong is so lovely!

 

@Chameleon - they are $90, regardless of doll size. And you are only allowed to choose from the face ups on their page. But there is really a lot to choose from, and you can leave off certain elements. My Hua Rong has a Wang Chiang face up, for instance, but without the fantasy details.

 

@wherethelilacsbloom thats very interesting! I might have to do one on my next AS girl! This one couldn't get one, just cause I don't know how the defaults would look on her crazy resin colour.

I think Bing Yi is just lovely Thankfully, she is a bit more mature than my collection as a whole, so I am not tempted to buy her. But I hope lots of people do so that I can admire from afar! ^_^

There's a lot about the sleeping plate that I really love. The lips, the eye shape..

 

I love that she's mature looking! I wasn't crazy about the open eye version but LOVE this.

 

Luckily for me, I'm still not at all tempted, haha. She's beautiful, just not quite my cup of tea.

 

I love her SP as well! If I were getting her in a normal colour I'd have gotten that rather than the original. I found the wider eyes worked better in my crappy mockups, IMO. This face is lovely though.

 

I just go for a more innocent and sweet look, most of the time.

These are my two 1/3 A-S girls, and they fit that aesthetic just perfectly.

Bing Yi SP is gorgeous! My tastes have been changing lately to wanting the more mature looking SDs. And the Asian traditional outfits are beautiful. I wonder how the mature gals look in regular clothes...

I'd love to see photos too of AS skin tones. The solid milk, pink, and normal pink confuse me...would love to see them side by side.

I think Bing Yi would look great in the translucent pink.

What skin tone are these girls??

 

@stellarphenomena - They are both Solid Butter I thought I was going to order Hua Rong in Milk 08, but I changed my mind at the last minute xD

I think my next A-S girl is definitely going to be a different skin tone though.

 

They are lovely. I think I'd like the milk, because my favorite dolls basically have a "off-white" skin tone. I ordered a RongRong (YOSD) in solid pink, so I'll see....

 

I would love to see your RongRong if she gets in before I order Dawn. I am trying to decide on what color I want her in.

 

I don't expect her anytime soon....but I will message you if I'm surprised!

 

Just dropping in to share a quick photo of my AS Michael. He's been in his default outfit since I got him... so I was trying out some of my other outfits on him. This black and white one seemed to suit him the best. ^^

I can sort of see a bit of their faces through the petal and indeed they seem like they'll be super cute! I'm still paying off a layaway though and promised myself no more dolls for a while to let my hobby savings recover, so I'm hoping they're not /too cute/, haha. That, or that they won't be limited.

 

A-S's last several SD releases were Limited, so I think.. if this girl is SD size, maybe she won't be?

But I'm starting to wonder if she isn't possibly MSD size at this point.. It's hard to see the hands in the photo, which is usually the size giveaway ~_~

 

@wherethelilacsbloom I wanna say MSD from what I can see of their faces but AS does have a sweet, innocent look to most of their dolls so who knows really. I guess we'll just have to wait and see!

It the original face-up for Hua Rong but I asked them to remove all the white markings and instead of the lashes being white I asked for black.

 

I'm very tempted to get a new doll, specifically Cynthia, as my first SD/youth doll. I borrowed an SD Volks body to sew for and just love the size difference. However, I am not sure which body AS sells that would be the closest thing. I'm wanting a not so busty body, so I wonder how the normal chest is on AS. And I have never dealt with heel legs, so should I get heel legs or flat? I'm not sure which ones would be better for buying shoes from various shops other than AS. Thanks!

 

Still working on my decision! I am curious if anyone sews for the new AS body with the normal bust? If so, what do you like or not like about it?

I'm still not sure on the shoes, as I want to use lolita shoes, which may be more flat. Maybe I should get both legs? Is it worth it to have both?

Does anyone have an old stye body and the new style? I know the old style has a smaller bust, but I'm not sure it'll be a big difference when sewing or dressing in clothes that AS currently makes.

I have both bodies(and I will have another soon the new 62cm with a normal bust) the chest is smaller(some SD girl tops can fit rather lose) on the old body but also the 58cm body is a small SD. If you ever get a 70+cm doll she will look so tiny(almost child like) in comparison. But I personally think for a Cynthia doll the 62cm body would be better because she has a more mature face. And with the bust size....its really up to what you prefer but keep in mind just as the AS dolls sculpts have default makeup, each doll has a default body too and if you want to switch(bust and/or legs) there is a $10 dollar fee for each. I find that its SO MUCH easier to find cute high heeled shoes for SD girls than flat ones.

 

@SmilesEvily Thank you for your help! I didn't know the older body was also shorter. I don't want any dolls larger, so I think the new body will work for me (of course I also didn't want sd size 2 years ago). I also liked the high heel shoes Angell Studio carries, so I think I will be happy with the high heel feet.

I've always liked Angell-Studio sculpts but none of them were really on my "must have" list...until they released Lanling!

I love the legend of Prince Lanling already, and now Angell-Studio made him, and he's got such a handsome face! I can't stop staring at him. I want him so bad...but ack, I've already got other dolls I planned to buy. Oh well, at least he's not limited (I hope his clothes and mask and stuff aren't, either?).

Lan Ling is really good looking. I see a bit of Switch Soseo and LTT's Roderich in him. If I had money, I'd be considering purchasing him. perhaps in the future if he is unlimited...

Is there a resin comparison somewhere with Solid Butter and Pink Normal? Does anyone know which color is darker?

 

I'm waiting for my 1st SD girl, Cynthia. I ordered flat feet but would like to order the high heeled feet. I need to know if the flat and high heeled feet are interchangeable or if I need the high heeled leg. If so how does that work?

 

Angell-Studio is very helpful about telling you which feet to order.

 

@april - I will be able to do that comparison for you in about a month, if you don't find anyone else who can. I ordered Peach Spirit/Alina, and I think she'll be here in one more month.

@faeryfae - Angell-Studio can definitely help you pick the right feet. But in general, the 58cm 1/3 body has actual high heel feet parts and the high heel leg, allowing you to choose. And the 62cm body has the high heel legs only. Any mention of "1/3 body" on their site refers to the 58 cm body; not the 62cm. When its the 62 cm, I'm pretty sure it will explicitly say so.

But definitely still contact A-S if you are unsure. ^_^ For my two A-S girls on 58cm bodies, I ordered the feet parts and not the whole leg, and they work fine for me.

 

Oh, thanks where thelilacsbloom (lovely that). I ordered the 62cm with flat feet so that's why I want to know if the high heeled feet sold on the site will adapt? I'm going to get a few things to add to my order as I only ordered 3 weeks ago.

 

I would asssume that the feet are a bit different between the 58cm and 62cm bodies, since the hand parts seem to be. On the hand listings, you can see which ones specify the 62cm body and which ones don't. I've always operated under the assumption that they weren't interchangeable, but maybe they are! It would be a good question for the A-S team

@faeryfae What a coincidence! I just ordered her as well as my first sd. I went with the high heel feet, as I really like the look of them and plan to use more dressy shoes with lolita clothes.
I also was wondering how they change out, as I'm not comfortable with taking my doll apart.

 

@wherethelilacsbloom -- Thanks, it'll be great to see a resin comparison-- but don't worry too much about it. I'm just going to guess on how the resin colors compare from AS's head-cap samples. And I might not end up ordering a doll. I've still got a doll on layaway, so I really shouldn't be thinking of adding another. --But I'm being very tempted by Lan Ling!

Congratulations on your first SD, by the way, @faeryfae Angell-Studio is an excellent choice, I think! The sculpts are elegant, the resin is good, and the bodies pose like a dream.

@wherethelilacsbloom -- Heh! I think most everyone on DoA is already a lost cause when it comes to having more dolls on layaway (or on credit) than they should! It was too late for me many years ago, anyway...!

I don't actually own any AS dolls, but they are all very tempting...!!! (I have been bad and have been searching for photos of AS dolls all morning!)

 

These are my two current A-S SDs - Orianna and Lyria. They were my only SDs until just this week, when I got my Volks girl.

I just adore them. And I totally think you should get one
