I got my Cien on Wednesday but I've only just gotten around to posting pics^^;

Well, this thread is lively! Bumping with more Dana spam! I just restrung him with new elastic and the Angel Region website tells you how long to cut the strings, which is nice!

 

About the leg ^^; Since there is no luck at trying to purchase just a leg I'm just saving up money to buy another (used) doll entirely. I've also put some sturdy wire in him so he can sit up better now. :3
I suppose I'll add in on the Dana spam since Dorian got a handsome new face-up from Buff

 

KinkaGirl - About your doll thigh, I'd still suggest emailing AR about it. Tell them why you took so long to find a replacement, i.e. you were okay with it before but now you figured you would really like him to be fixed. Offer to buy the thigh from them, and include the photo of your boy with his two left thighs as proof It's worth a try, and the worst they could do is say "Sorry, can't help you" xD

AR Little Fairs were our first dolls, and the first ones we'd ever seen in person or handled. Even though our collection has grown, they really remain our favorite dolls. They're very poseable and expressive. They're slimmer than MSDs, and I've found it's very easy to make them stand and hold poses even if their stringing is a little loose. (I wish sometimes that either their heads were a little bit smaller or their hands a little bit bigger, but only when compared to other dolls the same size, because 45cm dolls have such a wide range of proportions, and our other small dolls are pin-heads.) Of course, they don't have the convenience of magnetic headcaps, either, but they're older sculpts. I've found them to be sturdy, and that they age beautifully. Our oldest one is a Pride of Joker Ren that came to us fifth-hand after some very poor treatment, and he cleaned up beautifully and his chips sanded out smoothly. It's a great resin.

Just last week I was missing AR fullsets so much! I wish Soom would do something new and exciting with the mold now that they have them, or make that long-promised updated boy body, or something.

Congrats on your new girl! The Mano/Jade sculpt is one of our favorites.

 

My first doll is an AR -- I still have him too.



He's a Present Jade ver 1. I really like the AR LFs -- they're great little posers, easy to buy clothes for, have lovely head sculpts. If my main story line didn't consist of mostly SDs, I probably would've ended up with more of these guys. I've always admired the Cossette and Angelica sculpts.

i thought that maybe i could contribute something to this thread to keep it alive, since i think AR minis are awesomes .

so, this is my Neo Angelregion True Friend Seio Boy (milky white) |D... i love that name. i have him since somewhen in 2009... i just couldn't resist when i accidentally saw him and bought him immediately. didn't even know at that time that he was a limited xD. so far i have only seen one other seio boy on the forums, which seems a bit strange to me, as i think seio is a lovely sculpt ^^.
unfortunately, i'm still not really bonding with him, hope that'll change, tho... he's gone through lots of different looks, too xD.

I still don't have a replacement leg for my boy xD I bought another doll that's about 3 years old, but apparently in between the four years each doll was made they changed the thickness of joints because the newer thigh is too narrow for the older knee to fit in xD What an ordeal! We've gone this long with his crazy legs, I think if I were to fix it now he'd loose something special about him x3 And I also noticed that the newer doll has a thigh that is one single piece, where as Dorian has this

Does anyone else have thighs like this?

And has anyone tried Dollmores Narsha size shoes on the Little Fairs? Their MSD sizes I've seen in person are huuuuge!

Has anybody ordered one of the NeoAR new sculpts on the LittleGem body? I'm wondering how the torso thickness compares to the classic BF/AR boy bodies. And has anyone recently ordered one of the older head sculpts? If so, are they still coming on the AR body, or have they gotten switched to the LG body, despite the pictures using the older bodies?

I really like the Lux sculpt, but don't see any owner pix around yet.

I've never kept up with this discussion thread, even though I've had my Little Fair since like 2005 or 06. AngelRegion used to be pretty popular, but nowadays I don't see them too much... I rarely just run into gallery photos of them. I was trying to find original sales-photos of my Present Ren 'Smile' LE (the one who was dressed as a priest), but since the old angelregion.com site went away after they moved to Soom, I couldn't find even one Google result.

Sorry I don't have a Lux or a regular-eyed Ren, to show, but here is my old Present Ren, Nico. He's no longer a priest, but I still adore this little guy.

Rixx (Cien) decided to actually let me photograph him instead of giving me hate vibes! He's not cuddly but I love him anyway!

 

Just got my first Angel Region doll, via Ebay. She's an Ami, but I'm not sure which version, but she has the old AR body that is almost identical to Bluefairy. She's yellowed (has almost a "Beauty Green" cast) but is still very charming!



Her name is Alice.

 

I have an old AR in white, and yeah, the resin reminds me of the old CP resin and "beauty green".

 

I've got an older AR boy, too, but in normal skin. He's mellowed out a bit since '05 or '06 (I honestly can't remember) but has otherwise stayed a very nice shade of normal despite coming everywhere with me when I first got him.

It's a real shame they don't make these anymore. I always kinda wanted a Jade to go along with my Dana boy.

She's a Cien Dancer Girl. I really need to get her some new eyes, and maybe redo her eyelashes. I have no idea how much she's yellowed, but she's a very pretty color now.

Finding clothing that fits her is sort of troublesome, though. I should have some things made for her.

An old AR - Cien? - I believe. He was originally a closed-eye head, and the previous owner started doing eye opening. However, she put the body up for sale, but when I bought it, along came the head! I may work a bit more on the eyes sometime in the future, but for now, he's my little blind-eye fellow --


Edit: it doesn't show that much in this set of pictures I took, but the white AR resin actually did turn kind of Beauty Green. Which may be another reason to de-orange/red-ify the faceup. It really accents the green tone in person. Has anyone gotten the new Soom AR's in white? I know old Soom resin also turned a greenish tone (and very quickly sometimes. Two minigems arrived that way!), but I'm wondering about their newer resin mixes. There are one or two of the mini face sculpts I like a lot!

Echo-chan, Angelregion is the company that got bought out by Soom, and Little Fair is the name they gave their minis, so if your doll has an Angelregion plate on the back of her head this is the right place What sculpt is she? I have an Angelica, the one with the semi closed eyes, which was actually made by Not Doll Labs, but AR took over the sculpt.

I have a Little Cein. inside on the bottom of her head plate says Kali's ceinoo, then in the middle says little fair. Her name is Emiko. She was secondhand from a friend. Then another friend that owns a one person BJD company that modded her breasts

 

Headplate? Neither of my boys has one. When did AR start doing headplates?

No, that's the head cap, but some companies put a little plate on that with the company name or logo on it, eg. Volks and Customhouse.

Have you looked at the Soom site to identify which Little Fair she is? And is Kali the name of her previous owner? While Soom's fantasy dolls have been prone to pirating, I don't think their Neo-Angelregion ones have.

I just talked to my friend that sold me the doll.

So she has no idea about the head cap engraving. And I'm not finding a section in the soom website to send them an email about the situation

 

That's certainly a Cien, but the headcap shouldn't say anything but "Little Fair Cien" inside. Here's the inside of one of my Rens' headcaps (sorry for poor picture):



The name is spelled "Cien," too, not "Cein," so if it says "Cein" then it's probably a recast.

P.S. You may want to edit the picture of your Cien... she's sitting on a check and I can read the person's entire address!

Huh, that doesn't look much like mine! At first I wondered if someone might've carved the "kali" and "oo" part in and your Cien is a modded sleeping Cien, which would explain the "S Cien" and why the other text doesn't quite match. But the picture I took is from a Present Ren and it doesn't say anything to differentiate the eyes (half closed), it just says "Ren." Your carving also wouldn't be centered if it weren't the entire thing, AND that text is much lower than mine, but that could be because it's a different doll. I'm at a loss!

I wonder if any other Cien owners could show the inside of their headcaps? Maybe that would explain some of the differences.

EDIT: I just found this on NeoAngelregion. It appears they have had issues with recasting. It doesn't say which dolls, though.

The doll was made before Soom bought Angel Region. I want to contact them about it but I can't find an email address to send the message to

 

Perhaps your cien was one of the "only for you" dolls Angel Region did a few years back, maybe 5 or 6 years ago. Since it was a custom doll for one specific person they could have personalised the head cap. Maybe inquire with the previous owner if you have their info and if they might know.

I have a very old white AR Cien - bought him secondhand about 4+ years ago after someone gave up on modding his eyes open, so I'm guessing he may have been a closed-eye edition. Inside his head cap, in the center it says Little Fair in script writing, then closer to one part of the rim, it has printed "Kali S Cien oo"

Lol - and while I was checking out the inside of his headcap, the screw decided to escape his foot, so now I have a doll, a foot-in-a-shoe, a loose calf, and another project....

 

That's what I'm thinking too since she is a second hand from a previous owner that returned to my friend in horrid conditions

and I noticed on the outside part of her eyes are dipped lower.

 

Ooh! Someone confirmed my fleeting suspicion of modded sleeping Cien. It's weird that they didn't differentiate the headcap for half-closed eye Ren.

It sounds like your Cien is a trickster.

the screw on my foot came out so I carefully put super glue on there made sure that its dry completely before I attached it together and I have no problems since

 

He's not the first one to pop a foot screw. I have a BF waiting for the same attention. (Don't care WHAT the tube says, few super glue tubes stay multi-usable for very long--)

My boy's eyes are quite different in shape from the usual Cien. The previous owner partially did one eye, and gave up soon after starting the second one. So he's my partially blind fellow. I'm going to redo the faceup though, as the auburn tones only accentuate his greenish-whiteness -- I think the eyes must have been entirely closed, since the left one still has the initial modding drilled hole in it.

Does anyone else have AngelRegion Little Fairs?

 

I'm down to 2 Little fairs, I've had a total of 5 (4 of them were Rens, the other a Dana) Though I have to admit, I got fed up with my Present Ren's inability to pose and their pyramid feet and the hands popping off the hooks, so he grew a few cm and has a dollzone body now. :O
I still love my tiny eared AR kids. Adriyn was my first and we'll be celebrating his 8th birthday in May.

 

You had posing problems with your Present Ren? Mine poses like a rock! I can literally pick him up, shake him around, and set him down on a table, and he'll stand up in whatever position he happens to be in. It's amazing. My Rens are the best posers in the house.

My Present Ren is also an Aidrien (different spelling though ) and is turning 8 this year too! My NT Ren, Kyou, is... hmm, 7 or so now. I wish so much that I'd been able to get a default Soulmate Ren back in the day. Alas, I doubt any of them even exist anymore.

echo-chan, I feel like AR hit their peak in around 2005-2006 and then sort of spiraled off. I don't think they're particularly popular anymore, so I'm not really surprised if not many people have them.

 

True, the AR body does stand and sit just as solid as my Volks SD13. I could leave him standing for days and not worry about him falling. But beyond the basic sit/stand I found the range of motion a bit limited compared to my newer dolls. I still have his body and it still stands more easily than the DZ. :P

2 of my 4 rens were soulmate rens. :O they are the only 2 I've ever seen come up for sale on DOA. I rehomed one of them about a year ago and the 2nd just last month. only 1 was mostly full set and that one was the first I sold. They just weren't getting the love here that I knew they could get elsewhere. My last of the 4 Rens I've owned was a Prode of the Joker. He was so gorgeous, I kinda regret selling him, but my tastes changed and he just didn't fit in well anymore. But all 4 Ren were all crystal rose skin. XD

 

Ahh, I guess they do probably have limited poses compared to newer dolls. I took a very long break from the hobby and my only new doll is from Volks, who haven't caught on to the whole double joints thing for their SD10s and 13s. I'm used to fairly limited ranges of motion, but I do love me some double-jointed elbows.

I once had plans to have one of every LE Ren (Present, NT, Glory Angel, Soulmate, and PoJ; OFY doesn't count) with default faceups and in fullset (where applicable; NT Ren didn't come as a fullset). I gave up on that a long time ago, especially since Soulmate was the one I wanted most and I only saw one in the marketplace in five years.

My dolls still sit in boxes most of the time (curious cat likes to bite hands), but every time I open the box on one of my Rens I'm blown away by how beautiful their faceups are. AR really had a good thing going back then.

 

XD I had that same dream- to own all the limited Rens. But when NT Ren came out I wasn't able to get him, and I have only ever seen one glory angel for sale ever, and I'm pretty sure it was a cien. I'd still die for a glory angel, especially a Dana. I adore their face ups!

I'm actually really bummed that my Adriyn's face up has started to really wear and fade. I'm thinking its almost time to get it redone. But I don't want to! Lol. I actually already removed his blush as it had a few minor chips, but the rest is going too. I almost want to find a face up artist who has a present Ren, or has seen one a few times so they can get the same feel for my boy. :P

 

I managed to find a NT Ren a month or two after they came out. I don't think I've ever seen one for sale except him, so I got really lucky, especially since he was one of the more limited ones. I would also die for a Glory Angel, though, as I've never seen one for sale at all. The Ren boys had the most amazing lips.

I chipped my Aidrien's nose the tiniest bit years ago, maybe a year after I got him. I cried like a baby and absolutely panicked, but I eventually got over it--you can't tell unless you know it's there, it's so tiny. There are a few spots where the coating has rubbed slightly so his face is shiny, but they're not very large.

I wasn't around when AR got bought out so I know nothing about what happened to them, but I wonder if they still have the same faceup artist on staff at Soom or wherever? Maybe you could just email/call them up and go "hey, so, I've got this Present Ren..." >D

 

I have 2 Little Fairs, an Ami and a Present Jade, both of which I got second-hand. Most of my collection is Bluefairy and they fit in very well with them (body type was the same before Soom took over, I think?). The skin tone doesn't match Bluefairy at all, but aesthetically they have much the same feel.

I moved recently and am still unpacking, so haven't had much time to take pictures. I adore both of my Little Fairs, they are extremely charming!

They both have their default face-ups still--the previous owners took really good care of them. I think I will eventually get new face-ups for them.

 

were they from Soom or that previous company that is unknown? she is modded. So does that mean she's rare and one of a kind?

Hello, looking through this thread made me feel nostalgic. It is so great to see so many older releases. I have two Little Fairs. Present Ren WS and Glory Angel Ami. I think they pose rather well. This is my Glory Angel Ami.

 

I saw this thread revived last month, and took a pic of my Little Fairs with the intention of posting then... glad to see the thread revived again! Reminded me to post, at last

Left to right, Fabien/Ren girl; Easton/Dana boy; Fenchurch/Ren girl; Winslow/Jade; Kiku/WS Dana girl.


All but Fenchurch were bought on the secondary market, during the years 2007-2008. I prefer childlike MSDs, since in my resin groups, most of them are younger versions of my older characters. Kiku is the only one in this pic who doesn't have an older self, though; she's a freestanding character.

Fabien and Kiku are special editions, but I know nothing about the names and details of these editions -- does anyone else know anything?
