Angel Region Little Fair Discussion part 1

Jan 11, 2005

    1. Glued in the head you mean?? That actually is common for other dolls, like Volks, as well. It's just hot glue and can be softened with a warm hair dryer and peeled away.

As for the other things...I have 3 (previously 4) AR dolls and have never had any problems. They pose better than any other doll I have owned and are sturdy standers as well. I personally have had no wig problems either. Mine have wigs from Monique, Luts, Dollmore, Leeke and others and all fit just fine.
The s-hook popping out is a possibility for any doll with similar stringing and is not limited to AR and *knock on wood* it's never happened to any of mine.

Enjoy your Ren! I have a Ren also and they are amazing dolls! :)

    2. aww, ty.
I am not sure if i have a hair dryer XD
i Should just have to restring her legs..
if i out her up to stands..she stand like half a min and then collapses because her bum is to heavy and the string isnt supporting her leggs propperly.

Well i think its to lose because when i hold her horizontal face up her legs (knee down) go's down and when i turn her around they flop back..so they arnt kicky....

    3. I put my Ami head on my MNF body and vise versa and they matched pretty well. MNF was slightly lighter, but since mine are both body blushed you can't tell the difference. My Ami acctually almost looks a bit tan. XD

    4. How well does the neck fit? *is considering geting a MNF body for a floating LF head she's soon to have*

    5. Perfectly. I used a large S-hook in place of the one touch head system and it accutally has more head posability that way than the MNF head on the MNF body. XD

    6. Is she strung into the head cap or at the neck?

    7. I didn't do it into the headcap because I only did it temporarily to get pictures of the resin comparison. You COULD do it to the headcap, but she was just borrowing Riku's body XD

    8. Thanks everyone, I think I'll just buy a new skinned blossom body from Blue Fairy and start a project if the skin doesn't match.
I mean, how maany dark skinned blossom bodied LFs do you see? ^-^

    9. Maybe wiring will fix that up a bit^^;
But yes, Jade does that too >w<
I never quite thought too weirdly of it, tho D:

    10. I am excited about the new Glory Angels also! Angelregion has been really promoting their dolls lately with all new looks and stories too. ^.^ I wonder if they they will look different then the 1st ones?

I do have some first generation pictures of the boy Ren and boy Cien Glory Angels only. Sorry, no girl pictures. ^^; I had only them saved. Maybe because I was interested in getting them. @_@ Here they are. The pictures load may slow do to being big.

      Oke,
well here is my result of the what are my Dolls limited pose abilties photoshoot.
And actaully...i don't know any other poses to try... i do know she cant stand on one arm like that other AR ive seen here... but i guess thats just because i cant balance her right XD

      collection 1

the 2 horizontal pictures show where i use the midsection bending for..emo shots >;3
The pictures under that show her upper body moving to the side without the rest of her body

    13. You find out what her head size is. Most minis are 7-8 but an increasing number of minis (especially mature minis) are 6-7.

If your doll's head circimference is in the middle of one of those ranges, then you will use that size. If the doll's head size is a size like exactly 7 or 8 inches, then you will need to ask other owners what wigs fit. Some 6-7's won't stretch all the way to 7, some 7-8's won't stretch all the way to 8, but some will.

On the Angleregion site, on the Dana girl page, I found the measurements. They list the head as 19.8cm so you divide by 2.54 to convert to inches... and it converts to about 7.8 inches. This means the doll should fit in a size 7-8 wig.

    14. Hi! ^^;; Anyway, I actually did run a search in this forum and in the Old News/Archive forum and nothing that I actually needed showed up.

Anyway, I noticed a couple of people mentioning trouble with the Angel Region headcap and getting it off. I'm still a n00b to dollfies and my first doll was a Homme Ducan from Dream of Doll. Getting his headcap off was... well. XD; Incredibly easy!

I just recently purchased an Angel Region Cien and he arrived today. I ended up buying new eyes for him and... I have no idea how to get his headcap off. I've tried twisting it, but it only moves a certain amount. Is there a trick to getting the AR dolls' headcaps off? ^^;; Am I supposed to twist a certain way...?

      Anyway, any help would be greatly appreciated since the searches that I did have failed me. ;o;

    15. My Jade's headcap was amazingly difficult to get off because the s-hook was hooked directly to a resin loop in the headcap itself; basically, to lift the headcap you had to be pulling on the whole body's stringing. I had to pry an edge up and then shift the cap to the back or side to get it out of place. I think I needed to use a head-hook or hemostats to get the thing unhooked from the headcap proper, but if you're just looking to change eyes and can shift the headcap enough to maneuver inside the head, you don't necessarily need to get the headcap all the way off.

Not sure if every AR doll is that way, but that's my experience.

    16. I was worried about the heat warping the head, so I didn't bother trying to heat the glue to soften it. ^^;; Instead, I got a really, really dull butter knife from our kitchen and carefully pried the eyes out by scraping at the glue until most of it detached from the head.

And no, I didn't keep the headcap pried off for long, since I already had the eyes that I wanted for Ifrit. ^^ See? :3

    17. She has been sueded, and wired. And she was strung really tight so the sued has good grip ;3

Well, she doesn't belong to me anymore.
So i can't show you any new poses o_o" sorry

Well, hot glue sueding is really easy to do.
I think you should try that, and it doesn't require taking your doll apart.
But he should be strung tight so you have a good grip on the glue.
And wire's would help a lot to keep his legs straight ;3
(i do but hot glue on the tips of the wire to make sure it doesn't damage the resin.)
I think you can find more information about hot glue sueding on doa.

    18. Okay, Elina's having a wee bit of a tough time with shoes. She has some dollmore boots that don't fit too well, and she seems to untie them when no one's looking, so she obviously doesn't like these.
One of my friends gave me some MSD shoes of unknown origin that were too small to even get on.
What shoes WILL fit these dolls?

    19. So.. does anyone know?:sweat

    20. I haven't got the foggiest I'm sorry.
I have a Dollzone MSD and I've ordered two pairs of shoes via Dollmore and those fit just fine.
What's the foot size of your doll?

    21. the website says 5.8cm long for foot measurement - but theyre a little wider than some others too. i cant take measurements right now, i'm about to head off to work.

    22. I've got a Bluefairy girl, so same body sculpt, same feet, etc. I've not had trouble finding shoes for her, though. I have a pair of cheap Cancan Jseries laceup boots that fit her perfectly, and a pair of Volks boots I got from Y!J that are also a great fit. Both will fit with or without socks, even.

The one pair of Dollmore shoes I've tried on her are the ones from the "Where are you going Alice" set -- really cheap Mary Janes. They're a very, very tight squeeze, but I can get them on her feet with socks if I try REAL HARD.

    23. The AR maryjanes she came with fit lovely, with socks. I was just wondering which companies are good matches, cuz dollmore seem a bit hit-and-miss...

    24. Go with Dollheart, eLUTS, Souldoll, Volks, Anotherspace..

Leeke shoes are too small, some older Dollheart shoes are too small as well.

    25. i've actually been considering buying a dollheart outfit for a while. :)
I'll see if that works, thanks

    26. The thing to keep in mind is that with Dollmore, they get their shoes from different companies. I can recommend Dollmore's little sport shoes for AR/BF and the canvas slides. Both seem to work pretty well for my guys.

    27. with all these new skins and stuff popping up (with DOC n kid delfs) does anyone know if their hands would fit AR now?

mostly DOCs cos I really like them haivng to use strings than the screws that are really making me scared I'm going to twist-snap them out again >_<

    28. Ive seen a lot of normal msd's and they're hands and i still think AR has the pretty-est.
I had a ar ren girl with normal hands and they were amazing! Really pretty.

I hope to replace my petsha's hands for AR hands.. but for now i will just need to sand down her fingers..
I really miss the s-hook system AR uses now because my mnf's hands aren't half as posable D:

Owh i have some pictures for you from when i splitted her fingers:

      Touching her earring ^_^"

    29. Aww <3 Your girl is just sueded or sueded AND wired?

I was just thinking, maybe i could do something about the hook and make it so it works like the DoD hands^^ instead of a " ? " shaped hook, I'm gonna try to find a " o- " shaped one, so i can "tie" it to the elastic instead^^

THe hook is bugging me because sometimes I'm not sure if the hand was turned so much that it's twisting the elastic, which would cause the hook to be snapped out *_*

      I don't wanna glue it cos it's easier for me to "twist the hand out" when I wanna unstring them^^;

it's just a recent incident of nearly losing the bloody hook and not being able to find replacement small enough ANYWHERE that's getting to me ><

    30. I just bought a new pair of eyes for my AR boy, and I noticed that the eyes he came with appear to glued in (or atleast that's what it looks like)

Out of curiosity for AR owners, do all of them come like that.

And if it is glue, how should I go about removing them?

    31. I want to ask the same question I find that MSD sized clothing does fit Dana, but not always MSD size shoes. Any specific suggestions for shoes?

    32. Link to news thread.

New fullset Little Fair dolls from the Platina Angels line.
While they are listed together, you are supposed to choose one or the other.

      The outfits are sold separately.

    33. The thing that gets me is that they each cost nearly as much as a limited Fair, and those are SD sized.
I can understand the clothes raising the price a bit, but not that much.

And the fact that they are listed together only serves to make it even more confusing.
Plus, the Kai and Nell sweet cookie limiteds were offered both together and separately.

I can't say that I'm particularly experienced with AR's pricing though, so hopefully someone with more experience with the company can shed some light on this.

    34. I wonder if their skin has anything to do with the price? The limited Kai from "Bedtime Stories" call their skin "rosy white" while Seio has the "milky white". Either way, they're very cute!:D I hope they release Seio as basic in the future!

    35. I think what's causing the price to be that high is because both are made in white resin, which Angelregion doesn't carry for their standards. =/

    36. Even though the direct link to the dolls still works, the angelregion website has taken down the notice about the Seio True Friends, and the Platina Angels section where they were listed ( http://angelregion.com/shop/step0.php?b_code=B20090213125401&c_code=C20090213010410 ) is empty now. They're still on the website banner, though.

-_-; I kind of wish AR would get its act together. When they came out with the new site and partnered with soom, I was hoping for some improvement from their wishy-washiness. They were so good back in early 2005. (and a white resin doll from them didn't cost twice as much as a standard. Our limited whiteskin Ren and Jade were only a slight markup over the basic dolls.)

I really like the Seio head mold, but the price was way too high. When I first saw it I assumed it was for both of them, because no way one could cost that much!

Maybe they've taken it down to fix a pricing error? We can hope, anyway.

LOLOL, there's no way /any/ AR boy has $5 worth of resin in his pants. =D My resinsoul boy gives my AR boys a complex. He might have a couple of extra bucks there, but no way the AR boys do!

      EDIT

      The dolls are back on the site! And much cheaper. ^_^;

you can also buy the outfits separately. :D

    37. It's just me or Seiio outfits reminds a lot Ciel from Kuroshitsuji's one? XD

    38. Ciel was actually the first person I thought of when I saw him. XD
He just needs an eyepatch and a little pimp cane.

She might be. The circus performers in the manga arc have ball-jointed prosthetics.
And in the anime, there was that arc with Drocell where they were turning little girls into dolls.

Good to know that the price was a mistake.
I'm definitely considering the Seio boy now. :D

    39. //revives thread//

yuh. Seio is one moody boy. I definitely see some Ciel in his stylization.^^

    40. i love them. they come with there original wigs and eyes, not random, and there actually cheaper than the little fair.
[little fair= 345 with faceup. true friends= 335 with faceup.]

    41. I would love to see photos of ANY of the Angelregion dolls! Anyone here?:aheartbea:aheartbea:aheartbeaIs there a thread open for photos?

    42. I was wondering (because I didn't find anything in the database, or on the AngelRegion website!) if their Dana has a sleepy, or more close-lidded faceplate. It would be cool to have more than one head so she didn't look pissed off all the time!

Thanks in advance for any help!

    43. Bump! I'm very curious if anyone has an answer!

    44. I have a dana, and I don't think she looks pissed off at all.
Do you have images of yours?

    45. This may just be my personal opinion, but I think it's both the emphasis of colour on the dana's lips (which are slightly upset/pouty looking by design) and her eyebrows, which are angled a little higher than on mine (which is just a default jobbie) which are making your doll look so moody. I'm not sure how you'd feel about getting her faceup re-done to try to remedy that.

      http://img.photobucket.com/albums/1003/Ophiuchus/Elina/Story 1/Story1-1.jpg
Here's an image of my Dana for comparison.. She's not got a special resin colour or anything - can you see what i'm trying to explain? :sweat I'm not always clear.

    46. I know that it's her makeup but I'm not about to redo her limited edition faceup. I just want to know if I can buy different heads for her in the Dana mold, or not.

      :)

    47. Righty-o.
As far as i'm aware, there aren't any variants of Dana, sadly.

    48. Does anyone remember who did the original default Glory Angel face-ups? I remember that it was a "name" face-up artist, but I'm spacing on who it actually was.

I know I found the information on DoA at one point, but it's not turning up in the search.

(I'm updating my doll profiles on Flickr, and I'd love to be able to add that information in regards to my 1st Ed. Glory Angel Angelica!)

      Thanks much,

      -- Andi <3

    49. If I recall it was Paranoiadoll? :)

    50. I was thinking Paranoiadoll as well, but I wasn't sure if I was misremembering. Thanks!! :D

If anyone happens to find a citation/listing for that, I'd love to confirm it for sure . . . but your recollection ties in with mine, so that's really helpful. Much appreciated!

      -- A <3

    51. Oh, is Lilitu a 1st edition GA? :fangirl:

    52. Heya, sugar!!

To my understanding, yes -- she's either 1st ed. or 2nd ed. -- there's not a lot of info available on them anymore, so I've had trouble finding pictures of the outfits/etc. I bought her from a collector who was also selling several other dolls (such as a Ksy, wahhh!) from around the same time period as the 1st Glory Angel release, so I'm thinking 1st ed. unless anyone informs me otherwise.

I need to take more pictures of her -- I'm so frustrated by the lack of light in my house, I'm going to try to get myself a lightbox for Christmas!! ;)

      -- A <3

    53. I've definitely seen a sleepy-eyed Dana around the forums somewhere. Not sure if she was modded by her owner or what.

My Dana looks pissed off too, and I've come to the conclusion that it's the eyebrows. I love his faceup so I've just accepted the fact that he's glaring.

Here's some random picspam for you all:

    54. Actually, I think they're supposed to be based off of Ciel and his fiance, Elizabeth. The boy Seio even comes with either blue or purple eyes [though really, you'd need one of both]. The hair on the girl Seio reminds me of Elizabeth, even though her hair isn't in pig tails, it's still got that wavy-ness about it, and she would definitely wear a pink dress like that. [I haven't seen the anime, just read the manga, so maybe she resembles an anime character more? -shrugs-]

I was so upset to discover him now and to find that Seio boy is sold out...I've been wanting to make a Ciel for ages, and that mold is perfect... Guess I'll have to wait and see if he shows up on the marketplace...

    55. not sure if this is the right place to post, but i have a LF Jade, his little pinky is broken and noticed they dont sell the parts at the site, anyone know of a good comparison for hands that i could maybe by and replace his hands... poor boy can fend off himself in this little demon family..he is the only human XD

    56. I'm sorry to hear about his hand. I don't know of a resin match, but I can tell you what DOESN'T match: Dollmore, Dream of Doll, D.I.M., and Fairyland. It's too bad because they used to sell separate hands too. Maybe if you ask they'll let you buy a pair.

    57. has anyone bought an AR recently? since it's been on Sooms site? I am finally going to order my Cien boy and I'm a little wary of ordering from them, just because I never have before.
