Angel Philia

Aug 7, 2018

    1. Oh that sounds horrible! I have repainted my AP several times now and it's never resulted in such a dramatic outcome? I just removed the head and cleaned it with nail polish remover and made sure to remove any residue.

    2. What were you using to remove the faceup? I'm so sorry that happened, that sucks

    3. I was using the Winsor Newton paint remover. It is an excellent cleaner and I used plenty of it on my resin doll and volks DD dolls. I think that’s because the joints are made out of a different material? Well, just beware of that and do not get any solution on the joints!

I was using the paint remover from Winsor Newton! To be fair, it is an excellent remover and I am still using it. It works great on both resin and volks DD dolls, and I have been using it for several years. I love it because it does not smell too bad comparing to other products! Just avoid the joints areas!

    4. My Tiffany finally got her suntan body :)

    5. @mikabc If it has acetone in the solution, that might be why. Their joints are made of ABS, which is a type of Acrylic (the same substance acrylic paint is made of). Acrylic can melt in acetone (or similarly strong dissolvents). I haven't noticed the same problem with rubbing alcohol, myself. That's what I usually use for my vinyl dolls, unless there's something especially strong I need to get off. Then, it's best to take the part off of the frame. Not that I always do that, lol; there's an Obitsu I have that has wonky hip joints because I sprayed the wrong kind of sealant (it made my doll sticky), and I had to use a TON of acetone to get it off.

If anyone is interested in the science behind it, acetone is a dissolvent (i.e., it dissolves things like paint). Almost every sprayable sealant on the market has acetone or a similar dissolvent in it, to keep the sealant in a liquid state. Once it's sprayed, the dissolvent evaporates too quickly to damage your work. In terms of using acetone to remove faceups, most of it will evaporate off, so you don't really need to worry about damaging your doll. The exception being ABS, or if you're literally soaking it in a tub of acetone for a long time. However, rinsing your doll off after removing the faceup doesn't hurt.

    8. I have one and I love her face I don't love her body but if that type of doll is worth it, I bought it second-hand from a friend

    9. Pardon me if this is a silly question, but are Angelphilia heads on-topic if hybridized with other bodies, or are they only grandfathered in if they have the Obitsu frame?

    10. Not sure, what body are you talking about?

    11. @sagearella
I guess I could have phrased that more clearly, sorry! :sweat

What I meant was, if an Angelphilia head is put on an on-topic body (say, a mature resin one from a company like Luts or Volks), would it be an on-topic doll here? Or are Angelphilia heads only ever on-topic if placed on their original, Obitsu-derived, frame-based bodies that were grandfathered in by the rules?

    12. I don't think they are too picky! An on-topic head with an on-topic body sounds fine.

    13. :) Crossing my fingers for sure! I know that of all the Angelphilia items, I'm honestly most interested in the heads. I'd rather have one of them on a strung body if at all possible, if I ever acquire one.

    14. Hey all! I am new to the AP world as of like 2 days ago :XD: I received a Konatsu and I’m thinking about switching out her bust. Someone has a bust style I really like for sale, but it’s the regular vinyl and not soft skin and my girl is soft skin. Is it possible to use a regular vinyl bust with a soft skin AP?

Also, who are y’alls favorite clothing sources besides CodeNoir and Mandarake? I have an obitsu 47 girl so luckily there are a few items around here that fit her already, but I want some other options.

    15. @GoroChaggi I am pretty sure those are compatible. You just need to check whether they are either the similar letter one or a letter combo's that fits. There are several letter types a, b, c, d, e... Just check that the torso type and bust type are compatible letters :3nodding:
      Congrats on your girl!

    16. Yes it is possible and compatible. My girl Cempasúchil has a soft body but in order for her to wear this outfit I change her soft large bust for this one with the hard vinyl (regular) and it fits perfectly :)
So it will be absolutely compatible :)

sorry for the late reply. I hope it helps a little.

This is Cempasúchil soft vinyl body with the regular bust

    17. Sorry if this is in the wrong topic but how often to AP face ups get reran/appear on the second hand market? I really love the Kumi and Riko models but they’re sold out! Is there any place to look for second hand options other than Mandarake?

    18. @LeSeraffime Could you clarify, are you after blank heads or the heads with faceup?

    19. heads with the face up would be my preference, but I could always commission a blank one! :XD:

    20. Wow I just managed to snag the s type face in white just like Kumi’s thank you! Now time to save up and get to building my doll! :D

    22. she’s absolutely gorgeous- I particularly love the wig and the beauty mark- they create a very Old Hollywood look!

      • x 1
    23. Thank you. I live this wig on her too. The beauty mark was done by the previous owner. I got her from eBay. But I do like how it looks one her :)

Also, my Cempasúchil got a new wig. I think this one looks great on her :)

    24. I want an AP girl, but I’m having trouble finding one. They sell so fast. Especially when they are the “type” I’m interested in. :( I was hoping to avoid preordering and waiting a month or more.

    25. Thank you so much for this wealth of information :)

    26. Here comes an AP newbie question (and I apologize if this has been asked and answered a gazillion times)...

I just got my first AP - she's a Pink Drops #63 Reika.
Her paperwork says her bust is a Type-C3 so I thought that meant that if I wanted to buy other bust sizes for her I would have to look for Type-C3s, but things I've read here make it sound like that's not so.

Is there somewhere I could go to learn about all the types and such - some place where that info is all put together in one place? You know, other than reading through this thread post by post? I love looking at the photos of other people's dolls and there IS a lot of good info but I could use a chart or something :doh

Told ya it was gonna be a newbie question!

    27. I recommend the DollDreaming forum. Go to the Obitsu section and there is a good amount of resources talking about Angelphilia there. This is the link. VMF50 & Angel Philia Discussion Thread (nsfw, doll nudity)

but yes you can use any Type of bust on AP c3 is only because of the shape and size :)

    28. Thanks bunches for the info!!

    29. It also depends on the torso. A bust from the C range can look off on a (lower) torso from the B range, as a random example.
It tends to work, it's mainly the look. They tend to list which parts that works best together, on each parts listing.

    30. Good to know. Thanks!

    31. Would anyone know if a Volks SD16 would fit on an AP body?

    32. APs are more of an MSD size as far as height. Generally MSD tops can fit (not slim Mini like minifees though) and some SD sized bottoms. I’ve seen someone put shorts made for Smart Dolls on but the legs had to be removed because most pants for SD (and likely SD16) dolls won’t go over the standard AP thighs. Another friend of mine uses safety pins in the back to pin SD sized tops, blouses, dresses on her dolls.

    33. I got in my first AP this year, and wanted to share a picture of her. ^_^ She's a tan Emma/Emy type J, and I found her on MercariJP.

    34. :love Sweet!!

    35. Thanks! Really enjoying her so far.
I purchased a Bonelace neck connector piece from Shapeways, and it's on the way. Got the one for s-hook heads, so I can try on my incoming resin TV head on this body.
Very excited for hybrid possibilities with this one, so I may need a whitey body in the future for color matching.

Here's a quick pic of her next to my Dollzone msd and Fairyline hybrid for scale:

    36. I got my first Angel Philia for Christmas!
      I absolutely adore her~
Picture under spoiler as I don't know how big it will be

    37. Aww she's so cute! Love her outfit too ^_^

    38. I can't wait to get her some more outfits. I'm looking at some from CodeNoir.

Would anyone know where I could buy the magnetic base from? I know Obitsu usually come with one, but it doesn't seem like APs do. I'd love to pose her with the magnetic base though!

    39. I haven’t share my Tania yet. She is my 9th AP girl. I love the type H head :)

    40. She looks lovely, is there any chance you could measure her chest circumference? I'm hopefully acquiring an Angelphilia with the H5 bust and I'd like that stat for shopping around for clothes.

    41. @MrFjmg2003 Tania looks so cute! I love her red wig!

    42. Is there a way to take AP hands off without using a hair-dryer? I don't have a hair-dryer at the moment, but I'd love to change Elle's hands :sigh

    43. I’ve used dipping vinyl parts in warm water as a way to soften them up a little, and that worked for getting the really stiff smartdoll prosthetic leg onto their knee joint.

So far, my lone AP doll has never changed hands, so I’m not sure if it would work on them, but it could!

    44. Thank you!!
I'm definitely going to give that a go.
I'll let you know how it goes

    45. Sorry it took me a while. Her chest circumference is about 28-29cm. I don’t have a tape measurement so I had to use a ruler and a piece of string to measure around the chest. I hope it helps.

Thank you. Type H head is one of my favorites. I have two one is an old lady and Tania. This was the last Monique Gold wig in red I could find. I love the color too and how this hair style looks on her face :)

I haven’t share my Cosita. She is a AP Ellie. Funny thing I got the head first and then a few months later somebody was selling an actual Ellie body with CoA. So I was able to get it and she become complete :)

I change my Leona wig to an orange wig. I think it suits her better :)

    48. She looks great in orange hair!

    49. A late-ish reply, but assuming that AP hands are similar to other Obitsu-based hands, I ended up sanding down the hand pegs on my Parabox just a bit to make sliding hands on and off easier. Of course, do this at your own discretion, and do it gradually so as not to accidentally take too much off!

      • x 1
    50. Thanks @aetherbanana ! I'll try that on mine too. The hands are tough to remove and replace.

    51. I changed my Galaxia wig. I think she looks amazing. She is my first AP girl and the one who made me an AP addict. I’m waiting for my 10 AP that Gold willing I will get between Saturday and Monday :)

    52. Hi all!

First of all I love seeing all your AP girls! They're a delight!

Second, I have a request. If anyone has the type C2 or C3 bust piece, do you mind measuring the circumference in cm? I'll be getting my (first?) AP girl soon and want to do some crafting for her, but I'm considering getting one of those bust pieces (in addition to her C5 default. And hey if anyone has that one, same request?)

I'm just very excited to get her and I've got some time to kill this week so I'm hoping I can get started on her stuff! Thanks!

    53. Hi everyone, by chance do any of the Volks MDD/DD anti-stain bodysuits fit on Angel Philia bodies?

    54. I’m so happy. I got my 10th AP girl today. She is an AP Riko. She had the X-small bust, but switch it for the small bust. I think I will give her the super Large bust instead though.

I named her Bonita because that TikTok trend has been stuck in my head LOL

    55. Shoot, sorry I don't have those busts! Hope someone can help!

I would also love to know this! <3

@MrFjmg2003 congrats on your new girl! She's gorgeous!

    56. Thank you

I don’t think they will fit. AP is a little bit larger than MDD body. I do not have a anti stain suit for a MDD, but here is a size comparison photo from my AP to my MDD Mochi Ashi.

    57. Also DD/DDS are larger than AP. I can take a size comparison picture if you want.
