Angel Philia

Aug 7, 2018

    1. I believe I am in the right forum :) does anyone here own angel philia dolls? I think they are so unique, although not a BJD. What are your guys experience with them? Where have you found them? Have you had any issues?? I want to find one. Thanks so much!!

    2. I have three resin dolls right now but I too share a quiet interest in AP girls. I do see them on the second hand market fairly frequently. I mayhaps get one of the more neutral faced girls if one comes around at the right time! I do really want to know what their "soft skin" feels like...

As far as I know, they are only sold through their official site and one secondary reseller site, but the names escape me and I'm on mobile.

    3. I believe Angel Philia dolls are on topic on DoA. They are part of the Obitsu family. But I might be mistaken.

    4. I think they are so stinking cute!! Especially in cute outfits they just take on their own little personality lol I have been told that they have soft skin, so they are squishy to the touch lol quite a few people stuff the body parts with doll stuffing or cotton to fill them out a little more. Lol none the less I'm excited about having one :)

Thank you so much I'll check them out :)

Oh okay. I had posted this in the newbie area and a moderator recommended I post the question here. I'm still learning the site so bare with me lol

    5. I've seen a few on sale secondhand on facebook or instagram. I personally am really uncomfortable with how heavily sexualized they are (they're definitely making "sex faces"), but the vinyl has a nice soft feel. They stain super easily I'm told, so if you get one, be mindful of that colour transfer!

    6. I hate that they are so heavily sexualized. I've seen many online that are dressed very cute and casual and they look very kawaii <3

Is your Instagram the same name as you have here?? I'd love to see your dolls for sale <3

      Thank you <3

I'll have to find you on Instagram:)

I should have asked what your Instagram name is?? Lol

    7. I feel the same way, when something is prominently represented by something like this. I admit, it puts me off. You can’t do an image search for these dolls without encountering the sexualization. Yes people do have the right to do as they like with their dolls but sometimes it has the side effect of chasing away people who don’t like or understand it.

    8. It’s in my footer: idylldolls

I’m not the one actually selling them, though :)

    9. I completely apologize I must have mis read. It was super early this morning when I responded back lol so sorry

Yes you're absolutely right and it's sad. It kind of makes the dolls get a bad rap unfortunately :(

    10. If you like the soft bodies and aren’t into the super sexualized look, you could try “smart doll”. They’re off-topic for DOA, unfortunately, but they’re also soft vinyl. I think there are some dolfie dolls that use obitsu frames that are on topic, too? Look up “vinyl bjd” or “obitsu dolls” and you’ll get lots of results. I don’t own any vinyl dolls but there are lots of them out there if that’s your jam :)

    11. Thank you so much! I've seen some really good smart dolls. They're really cute too. I really like. the BJDs more though. I feel like you can have more fun with the bjds with dressing them all up and not having to worry about staining. Bad thing about vinyls. Lol Bjds can wear anything lol

    12. Oh, I'm glad that vynil dolls are not off-topic on Doa, I was afraid they are. I am thinking about buying AngelPhilia body and I need help. I like that AP allow to choose between large variety of legs, breasts and hips (about 12 options). I want body with certain bust, certain legs and certain hips. I was looking through this website: Body : FaithZ - A Hobby store for Toys , Nendoroid , BJD , Angel Philia and Collectibles - International shipping and Layaway available BUT! I don't see here the ability to choose bust/hips/legs between all their variants. Does it mean that I had to buy standart body and if I want to change standart bust/hips/legs then I need to pay for extra ones?

And are there any other dealers of AngelPhilia dolls? I've visited Codenoirusa, as I can see, they do not sell body separately. Or there is an ability to talk with their representative, and he will let me buy only body and choose not only bust but also hips and legs?

    13. @silent It's not possible to choose the parts that comes with an Angel Philia dolls release. I am 99% sure dealers will not switch parts of a set doll, this would be risky for business. It's generally also not possible to buy bodies or heads separately, unless secondhand (facebook, instagram, DoA, Yahoo Japan Auctions, Mandarake) or on very rare occasions (Quarantotto's official site can have them but only sell to Japanese customers and proxies would probably be too slow).

So indeed, you either wait for the combination (parts, head, skintone) you want which might not appear, or you buy/wait for the closest type of girl and buy what extra part/s you want to change (and sell the ones you didn't want). For example, I bought a Komugi -- the only part I needed to buy extra to change was her bust. ^ ^

    14. @Einnn thank you for the explanation)

    15. I too, have seen that done a lot. A friend of mine did exactly that. She bought the doll she really wanted and just sold or traded there parts for one's she really wanted :) there's definitely options

    16. I am absolutely in love with the neutral faced Angel Philia. Im not really big on the o face ones of course. But i LOVE Angel Philia bodies, and their most recent doll Alice has a beautiful face. For me, its the eyes that get me. They're so dramatic and gorgeous!

im super interested to know what the soft skin feels like.

    17. The soft skin feels really cool. I personally love my angelphilia she’s so cute and feels like a good weight when I hold her:D

    18. I'm about to purchase a "rare" Angelphilia second hand (or at least she tells me she is rare). She's a "neutral-faced" girl, which is good because I hate the sexualized ones, too...even their bodies are a little much for me, but this one has such a beautiful face and custom tattoos...
The girl I'm buying from said someone went to the invite-only event in Japan and got the doll for her

    19. Congrats on your pending acquisition!
Since Angel Philias are manufactured by Obitsu and are based on the Obitsu 50cm body, they are discussed in the Obitsu topic:
      Obitsu General Discussion - Part Three (60cm, 55cm, 50cm and 47cm)
That topic is a bit more active than this one so come on over and post pictures of your new girl when she arrives. We look forward to seeing her!

    20. How much have you seen them for on the second hand? Ive been wanting to buy a body myself for a doll and do a hybrid but these girls are super expensive . just the bust peice alone is around $500 on the website and full dolls are definitely over a thousand. So im not sure ill ever be able to do that as I cant see spending that much right now on a doll.

    21. Well, I'm not getting her...the seller promised her to me and then sold her to someone else behind my back literally hours before I went to pay her. We had exchanged information and everything...I was even under the impression she made a shipping label with my address but I guess she was just lying? :sigh

    22. I'm sorry, @AceDragonElf that's very disappointing! I hope you're able to find another Angel Philia that you like.

      • x 1
    23. Where are you looking? Some come up on Mandarake for 500$USD for a full doll.

    24. The actual website .I just typed in angel philia in google search and what looked liked the original website popped up. Like I said the pricing was very high.

    25. @Miss Hokusai if you're looking at faithz, everything is listed in HKD, not USD. 500 HKD is like 63 bucks.

    26. I have to look again. I was pretty sure it was Usd but maybe It wasnt.

    27. Oh ! It makes such a long time that I didn't come here on DoA that I didn't know that Angel Philia were on topic ! Great !I can join the discussion and share a picture of my Angel Philia Sayo.

I knew Angel Philia dolls for about 3 years, but until recently I found their hyper sexualised expressions too much for me. But then I saw the Sayo last summer and I fell in love with her sweet face which suits my taste.

    28. Congratulations on your recent acquisition!
Since Angel Philias are manufactured by Obitsu and are based on the Obitsu 50cm body, they are discussed in the Obitsu topic:

That topic is a bit more active than this one so come on over and post pictures of Sayo. We look forward to seeing her!
There are a few sculpts that aren't so erotically suggestive, most are from the early VMF50 days before Angel Philia broke away from Yamato/Arcadia.

    29. Hello,

So I just pre-ordered my very first Angel Philia on FaithZ, which by the way is a very patient, kind and responsive company if you ever want to order from them.

I needed some advice on Angel Philia- I preordered busts for her in different types and was wondering if all busts are customizable with Angel Philia bodies.

Also, since I am new to this doll, what clothes fit her and where can I purchase doll clothes for her?

I also noticed FaithZ does not have stands anymore, any other stores I can look at?

      Thanks everyone.

    30. First off, AngelPhilia dolls are "off topic" on DoA

    31. Oh, I didn't realize it, I saw somewhere on a thread that they weren't

    32. I believe all parts labeled AngelPhilia are interchangeable, but don't quote me on that. FaithZ is just a dealer for the dolls, so just because they dont have something doesn't mean you can't get it! Mandarake has quite a few used Angelphilia things and you could also try contacting Doll Proxy Service on Facebook. Etsy also has some things for them

Hmm last I knew they were...unless the rules changed. They're not strung, they're jointed frames, which doesn't meet DoA's criteria for "bjds"

    36. Bust parts are all interchangeable, all parts are, but lets say really skinny hips might look weird with the biggest thighs

I suggest you use dejapan as dollproxyservice has really high charges

    38. Yes, as mentioned by Amet, AP's are on topic here as they use the stock Obitsu 50cm body with a number of custom vinyl exterior parts. I would also suggest bookmarking the Obitsu thread as APs are frequently discussed there:
      Obitsu General Discussion - Part Three (60cm, 55cm, 50cm and 47cm)

Nearly all AP parts can be swapped with those of other Obitsu 50cm bodies including those from Azones, Visuadolls, and Parabox. The particular tan skin color is exclusive to AP and AP's cousin, Real Art Projects, a.k.a. Pink Drops. If you have a white skin AP girl then all Obitsu 50cm parts are at your disposal.

As for clothing, these bodies fall in a curious zone between 60cms and MSDs. There are a few manufacturers that cater directly to APs, otherwise you will need to watch the actual measured sizing and not buy an item by using a general heading such as "fits MSD".
Here is a small collection of suppliers you can use as a starting point for your adventure into AP fashion.

    39. Just to clarify, yes, Angel Philia dolls are on topic, and this thread is the correct place to discuss them. :) If people would like, they can feel free to join in the Obitsu diacussion thread, but it is not mandatory. If anyone would prefer to discuss AP dolls only, this is an appropriate place to do that.

    40. What clothing besides Angelphilia clothing fits?

    41. It depends on the bust size! My Angelphilia has a small bust so most regular MSD-sized tops fit (not slim mini though). MSD dresses are very short on her. I haven't tried pants so can't help much here. <3

      • x 1
    42. Thank you <3 I just ordered my first one and she has the small bust also

    43. Hi all! :) Has anyone tried to hybrid an AP body with a bjd head? I am wondering how various msd heads would look on the body.

    44. I know that different people tried to do this with Obitsu, and it was nice.
I'm interested in this question too!

    45. I haven’t done it myself but I’ve seen people do it in the angelphilia group on Facebook

    46. I've always had a quiet interest in them, just always felt a little weird and afraid of buying one. Its sad I feel this way... maybe its all the stigma?

    47. Yes, I have seen this too. Recently an SD head, but I think it is too big. :l That is why I asked about msd size! :3nodding:

Thank you so much for the photo and the links! I don't know the company HTT, I could not find any information about Bambee. What is her head circumference? I have seen some 8.5" doll heads on AP bodies and they are a bit big, so I thought msd ranging from 7" too about 8" would be a good fit.

      • x 1
    48. I am very interested in getting an AP myself but I really don't know how ordering them is done... can you only purchase a full doll in the part-combination it is released in? I'd love to have a tan girl with a special upper torso and closed mouth... also, is there only one dealer? is it even possible to order them via layaway? I have not seen an option to buy the heads seperately... getting an AP seems to be very difficult... is there a FAQ?

    49. I've gotten most of my APs from Mandarake. They are released as full dolls in particular configurations, but you can order individual parts from a dealer (the only one I'm familiar with though is FaithZ Option Parts : FaithZ - A Hobby store for Toys , Nendoroid , BJD , Angel Philia and Collectibles - International shipping and Layaway available )

If you want a custom configuration, your best bet is to buy a full doll with the face you want, in the color you want, then replace the bust piece, either buying the individual bust you want from Faithz or by trading with another person that wants the bust piece your girl came with.

      • x 2
    50. Octarine Dolls does layaways. Faithz too, I think. There is no FAQ that I know of, just the Inner Collection blog.

    51. so, quick update! After looking up almost every release and finally getting into all the head- and Body-types I finally found the combination I want and reached out for finding one... and... She will be on her way tomorrow!!! exactly what I want, tan, soft skin, smallest bust, nice face (Type-M although I would also have considered others). I am so happy right now and can't wait to welcome my AP at home :D

      • x 3
    52. Congratulations!
AP recommends padding the inside of SoftSkin girls to help the skins spring back into shape. I recommend using polyester fiber fill, the material used as batting in quilts, available at local fabric stores.

    53. Sorry I didn't get back to you sooner, real life crap.
The Bambee head is sold out. (sniff!)
      Home
If I remember correctly she is on the larger side of the 7-8 size.
MSD head sizes would be a good choice as the AP bodies are all 48cm and 50cm. Some of the AP heads are on the small side, very close to 7" and some of the larger 6-7 wigs fit them.
As always it's a matter of personal taste.

    54. Wohoooo! My AP is at home with me and I am soooo happy! She is so easy to handle and soooo smooth! And I love her skin (soft skin). Just have to give her a face-up and wait for her wig to arrive (and I have to get some heeled feet for her!) but the best thing is, a nurse costume, I bought maybe a year ago and which never fit any of my dolls, fits her just too perfect! I have a feeling, that there are more AP's to come to my home XD

      • x 3
    55. FYI, unless you are going to put her in strappy high heeled sandals, where a lot of the foot is exposed, you don't need to get the high heel feet. The regular feet fit well in most heels.
Penelope (in pink) has the AP high heel feet. Diamond (in white and red) has regular flat feet. Both are wearing the same Volks Dollfie Dream plastic pumps.

      • x 2
    56. @K-2! thank you for the advise! Unfortunately, the shoes I have here, don't fit my AP with flat feet, but I think heeled feet would porbably work... we'll see...
Since my AP is in fact a boy, I have been busy today, sculpting his missing parts and attaching them (I am pretty surprised, how well it turned out!) next step was his face-up and now I am waiting for his wig an the rest of his outfit. I had planned on a boy-mod for AP before even getting one and now I am even more in love with them XD... Although my friends might be even more creeped out by me, if they ever find out. Well... they know me :whee:

    57. I also have a boy AP! I sculpted him some boy parts out of polymer clay, but I haven't found a good way to attach them yet. How did you attach yours?
