Oh cool, I didn't know that! Maybe I ought to give Doll-Love a closer look. I do like Kaja, he's pretty cute.

I wish I knew more about Cade, I don't know what year he was made, I had to guess that he was normal yellow xD

I still need to get his headcap modded to fit him. It arrived in January and I still haven't had a chance to get together with the person who's gonna mod it for me ><;

I'm thinking of getting a 1/4 AO boy. But can't decide which one to get Jia Sha or Wang zhi.

Popping in to ask, does anyone know if the Yu Luo sculpt has been modified? In pics of the blank head on Alice's Collections, the mouth seems less wide than it used to be. Or is it just me? I know at some point they updated the company pics to be better quality, and I believe updated the faceups as well(not sure), but I forget when. I'm not sure if they made any other changes, but I'm aware that the Rao sculpt was changed a while ago to have slimmer cheeks or something. Is anyone aware of any change in the Yu Luo sculpt? I haven't seen many owner pics of him overall, and none more recent than 2014 or earlier, so I can't tell for sure.

I'm considering moving Yu Luo up on my wish list but I want to be sure what I'd be getting. If anyone has any owner pics of him, newer or not, I'd love to see!

I found that doll on sale on a group but I dunno which mold it is
the seller says she does not know either but he's around 8 years old and probably discontinued
He's 45cm tall - and as recommened after I posted him in the specific Doll thread I post him here since my thought he is from AOD was confirmed.

Off the top of my head, Wang Zi or An... doesn't look like a Chen to me. The big ears and muscular body are a dead giveaway of an 8 year old boy! Congratulations, and hopefully we can figure out what boy you have!

 

My Keitaro is a Yu Lou 2016. I don't know compared to the older sculpts but he has small ears, possibly different nose, and squinting eyes.

My Lanelle (Lan) went on vacation with us as my travel doll
this year. One of our stops was with Carol's cousin who has
a really frilly and girly home. Lanelle was in heaven.

I was on vacation recently (with a doll friend no less) and she was browsing the MP here. She stumbled upon a sale for an old AoD boy body in tan with a DL head and the seller was in Boston, where we would be going for the last 2 days of our trip. Hurried PM's back and forth resulted in the seller agreeing to sell me her boy and for me to pick him up when we were in Boston. This was awesome as that meant no shipping fees/waiting for delivery, no exchange rate (I'm Canadian) and no waiting for Customs to release the hostage. I didn't need the DL head and gave that to my doll friend (she really liked it and now has her first floating head).

This means that the floating head I've had since I started the hobby 8 years ago (tan Min) finally has a body and one that I never thought I'd be able to get for him (old muscle body in tan). Right now Tohan doesn't have a face-up and his eyes haven't shipped out yet with his partner (which is supposed to happen sometime this month). While the body is of an unknown age, the resin match is about... 98.5% with the head being ever so slightly lighter than the body. I'm thrilled to pieces over this.

meanwhile I've been looking at AoD minis again, even though 'I don't collect midis' - but that was before the $ to £ exchange rate made big dolls so pricey I really love Wansi - she's so cute even with little teeth Anyone got this sculpt?

 

One thing I am glad about with this latest purchase is that I already have a ton of clothes for him since he's a size I've owned from the beginning and he's not only part of the same World as Moswen (Chi) and Jaiseki (Min), Tohan (Min) is actually Mowen's half-brother and uncle to Jaiseki.

Shoes though... I have such an issue finding just the right style of shoes for these guys. I think I'd seen a pair that would be good at the Doll Peddler, but at the time, due to the hideous CAN$, I couldn't justify spending more than I already was on some wigs and eyes.

 

Dollmore has a really wide variety of shoes that work for 1/4 size dolls.

 

I agree 100%. When I need shoes for my Johnny Dollmore is usually where I go.

 

I modded a 2012 Meng Ya Qi head (opened the eyes) to make "Hot Ice" Hilda from Outlaw Star. Waiting for her body to arrive, and hope the colors match!

I'm also planning on working on an oddity. (It's intended to be Hilda's original self/body) A hybrid of AoD (2014/2015?) skull head and hands on a 2016 Dollzone Tarot Moon body! (The torso with arms and the spine hanging down.)

 

I come across this ebay dealer dollonline2009 and since I see you mention it in your post... is this dealer legit ?

 

I've been buying AoD's threw Alice Collection for a while, since aoddoll. com went poof. Maybe Junky Spot has them too, but I've never bought from them before.

 

My first and currently only doll is an AoD Fei, second hand. Shes got significant yellowing. This page has been REALLY helpful. I'll post pictures of her later. ^_^

 

Glad it helps! I love my AoD's the most of my collection. They make up most of the crew lol but they pose the best and I know how to handle them the easiest.

I've been having trouble getting mine to pose, she keeps wanting to bend her knees, and move her arms/hands and getting her to stand was a fight.

 

I'm actually pleasantly surprised at how well Moswen (AoD Chi) and Jaiseki (AoD Min) both stand and remain standing despite still having their original elastic from AoD. They are both coming up on 9 years old this fall. They are a bit loose as to be expected with elastic that old but still stand like champs.

Kijika (AoD/LE Doll Adonis) still stands steady as ever, too, and he'll be 8 this year with the same elastic as what he came with. He's an SD (although a shorter SD for a boy at 57cm) and I think some of his steadiness is due to his single joint body and having a thicker elastic than my other guys.

My newest AoD guy, Tohan (AoD Min), well, I can't say whether he's got his original elastic or not as I bought his body 2nd hand and I think it had 2 owners before me. But it does tell me that the AoD tan is/was quite stable/consistent as there's very little colour difference between his head (free head from 2008) and his body (unknown vintage, but the old style muscle body so at least 5 years old I'd say). Such a shame they stopped making both that muscle body and the tan. Both are quite lovely.

 

It's been pretty quiet in here for a while... earlier this year, I took Esa out for a nice photoshoot at a local botanical garden/conservatory. Which was a bit tricky, because they have rules about using "props" in photography, and while the girls at the front desk all universally ruled that, because there were no people in the photo, my dolls didn't count as "props," there was one worker in the gardens themselves who was insisting they were and I wasn't allowed to have them (and kept stalking me and trying to shoo me out of the garden).

Luckily, she didn't find me until after I was done with Esa, so she got the most photos of the ones who went along with me. (Another pair got just a few, and then it got too hard to try to keep going while avoiding her so I gave up on the rest of them.)

 

I bought my AoD Qing from dollonline2009, as well as several wigs and doll eyes, and I have never had a problem with them.

 

I bought a Chi head from them earlier this year, which arrived with CoA and the Angel of Dream nameplate.

Edit: I see you did while I was typing. And yes, I do wish AoD was more popular, they seem to be one of the more "under the radar" companies, but they have nice sculpts (and sometimes really unique ones), and the price is great too.

 

Hello) I want to change my Yu Luo's body to Spirit Smart. Had anybody see such a hybrid? I am worried about proportions of it. Or maybe can someone make comparative photos of male AOD's and spirit smart bodies?
Also I am interested in hybrids with Souldoll Soulkid NL and Dollzone b45-09 and b45-14 bodies. Any information of them?
Also, maybe there are any else good hybrids with AOD's boys heads, espesially with Yu Luo's head?

Hi, I'm getting my first AoD sometime soon, it's going to be a Chi, for an incubus character! However, I'm stuck on whether I want to get him in yellow or white skin. Even on DoA I'm having a very hard time finding resin comparisons of AoD... Does anyone here have white and yellow AoD dolls to put next to eachother so I can see the difference between them? If so, I'd be really thankful!

 

Chi is an awesome sculpt. Moswen is a Chi in tan, my first doll and even after 12 years and 64 dolls later, he's still my favourite.

 

I have a Normal Yellow AoD body for my Unoa hybrid. It's a pretty mild yellow, not as harsh as my Dollzone yellow. /doll-profiles/candace-kandyx.12373/

@Overdrive-Angel Here's Angel of Dream white (left) and normal yellow (right). Both bodies are from 2013. The white body was cleaned and coated a year ago with Testors Dullcote, while the yellow body never has been.

@ophelia She is coming naked and without a faceup just a wig, so pics might be a bit barebones! I didn't expect her to arrive for ages so I'm totally unprepared. (need a proper mask for safety when doing faceups, but they're hard to get right now because people have bought them all up! Eep!)

Hi everyone!! I have a question related to Angel of Dream Chi, My question is I was wondering if they ever released a human version of this sculpt...? I am buying one and he comes with CoA, he is very old, from over a decade ago -- but when I look at him elsewhere he has elf ears and fangs! Seller says he was never modded. Is there a possibility they released a human version?

 

I don't recall there being a human version but maybe? I have a tan Chi from 2008 (Moswen) and he's a gorgeous sculpt. He's also STILL my favourite doll after all that time and I own 71 dolls.

 

If I had to guess, the seller probably misremembered the sculpt name (it's not hard to do, I have plenty I forget); I also have a Chi from 2008 that I love, and he definitely has elf ears and little fangs

 

That definitely could be, they have several other AoD dolls lol. But I did ask, and they said they were fairly sure he was Chi. They purchased him in person from Alice88th, which is so cool! I wish there were more in person doll stores, lol. Anyway, I guess I will see once he gets here and I'll post pictures His lips, nose and eyes all look like Chi -- so who knows! Guess it will be a fun mystery!

 

Maybe he is a modded Chi? That is a possibility, too.

Is AoD doing ok?
I seems a lot of dealers stopped carrying them? They're not up on Legenddoll anymore. The only place I can still find them is Alice Collections.

 

I haven't seen them anywhere else, either. maybe they're having trouble because getting supplies or the over swamped with back orders? maybe they got covid and can't work now?

 

I've only seen them on Alice for a while unfortunately. I still recommend them as my favorite 1/4 bjds. They were my first. I noticed they have new 3rd body types now. The jointing system changed. May have better positioning etc. but definitely a different aesthetic overall. Similar to the faces changing over time, being remolded I guess. I haven't gotten a new one or seen anyone with one yet.

 

I certainly hope they don't go anywhere, I still have plans to get a Fei eventually! ;_;

 

I still toy with the idea of getting a pair of their skeleton hands for my SD Vito Azreal.
