Contest Almost Doll (Human Photography Contest)

Man I know! I know there is so much more I could have done, SO DON'T Turn in till your absolutely sure! In fact if you aren't sure, then why even enter at all? LOL JK XD Just kidding :3

 

I really really really want to enter this ^^; now I just need to find a willing victim ah I mean model =D

It's times like these that I am greatful for having a cousin into photography. :3

 

I uploaded the wrong file on one of my entries.(Too big) Er well I think I did, I use imageshack and used a smaller size to upload.
Can I resubmit if one of the entries are too big?

 

Do joints need to be shopped in?
And can photoshop be used for simple changes in colors and vignetting?

 

In the first post it says no photo editing I think a vignette wouldn't be an issue but colour changes and touch-ups aren't allowed I believe

 

I just submitted my two entries. I must say, this contest was the best fun I've had in awhile! I loved dressing up and fiddling with my camera's self-timer, lol! I think I lost about 10 lbs from the exercise of setting the camera and then running to pose.

LMAO!!! Aiko-Chan THat's what happened to me too when I was Testing the lighting. OMG! IT was HOT that day too! Doesn't help! XD Gotta LOVEEEE running back and forth during a hot summer day

 

So true, aibakaneko! It's super hot here, too, so I know how you feel! The things we do for a great photo, eh?

 

LOL, it was very hot here too when we did photos of my entry. Even though we took photos very early in the morning, it was still above 90 degrees and my outfit was many layers. Looks like a lot of us suffered for our art! XD

 

I submitted a photo but I took a picture of a print (since my scanner is junky,) I made from film, I have the original print and the negative on hand, I hope that's sufficient enough...

 

When the entry form says "link" does that mean like a tinyurl or what? I thought that you weren't supposed to distribute the pictures to other websites.

 

You can put it on photobucket and the likes, but not really 'public' like her on DOA or DeviantArt or blogs and stuff

finished taking the pictures today but ack! i don't know which ones to choose or if they're good enough, but man was it fun having a little dollie photoshoot with a real person. the face up and outfits were soooo fun! XD

 

I have a question! Are we allowed to make Gallery posts of our "doll cosplay" (for lack of a better term) after the contest is finished? I have lots more photos other than the one I entered that I'd love to share with other DoA members, and I'm certain I'm not the only one . I'm pretty sure I've seen doll cosplay in the Gallery before, but I think it was years ago so I wanted to ask before going ahead with it (after the contest is over of course!)

Edit: I found other doll cosplay posts (1 - 2) but both are very old. Just wanted to make sure this was okay with the current rules.

 

I'm guessing no... because it wouldn't be an actual doll But that's just a guess tho.

 

I believe if I read the rules well enough. After the contest is over and IF you didn't win, the photos are your property to do what ever you want to with. However, if you were to win, the entry is property of DoA and any photos similar (same photoshoot/outfit) would not be allowed as it would be an infringment of copyright. Basically, if you win, the idea belongs to DoA. You gave up rights to it when you submitted it.
I personally suggest doing another photoshoot instead and posting those pics in a gallery, but only after the contest is over.

 

I got some pics, now I just need to pick the best and resize it :3 I'm so glad the 100-degree weather is gone for now. I really didn't want to be a sweaty doll XD

 

I'm a bit confused on what editing we can do. Am I able to adjust the color/lighting? Like the brightness/contrast?

 

I believe that is fine, but no excessive editing like altering body parts etc.

Whoa, whoa...DoA will not hold copyright to any of your images, whether you win or lose. The only contest that has any rule like that is the tshirt contest, and then we don't own the rights to the image, we just have non-exclusive rights to use the image for a tshirt.

I'm REALLY enjoying seeing the Almost Doll entries. My favorite out of the contests! They are the most unique and thoughtful so far - it's been really cool seeing what people do with the cameras and their models... And also what people think of as 'doll-like.' Very cool stuff - I can't wait to put them up for voting.

I entered both contests in the space of a day.. figured out my ideas last night and took them today! Proud or myself for making use of my summer! I'm happy with my entries and am very excited to see who's up for voting! These are the most amazing prizes ever! I want to thank DOA and the doll companies for their contributions to this hobby! I'm excited and nervous haha!

 

I wish I had seen the contests sooner ;( I have the perfect subject just no time to make th outfit she would need for it.
She looks like a yosd doll most of the time, big eyes, long hair ect no editing needed oh well.

After almost a month of working my butt off to get everything I needed for the photo shoot...that and having to work with a really bad camera...IT IS FINALLY COMPLETE!!! =D I'm so happy now! I can't wait to see everyone's photos! ^_^ This is going to be awesome!!! Good luck to everyone! =D

just submitted my picture I had a lot of fun with my sister but sadly my cam made most of the pictures blurry -_- one of the "accident photos" was so cute.. i had to submit it xD

 

This has been so much fun! I usually do crafts and clothes for my dolls, not me! Thank God I have friends who can take good photos - usually I don't photograph well. Thankies all who helped, and congrats to everyone who participated and had fun! And especially to the winners.

Scratch that comment - saw Armeleia's post Thanks for holding this - my model and I had the best time doing it... there are some hilarious blooper images I still have on my craptacular camera!! LOL
