Alice in Labyrinth Mini Discussion

Jul 30, 2009

    1. {grin!} My pernicketiness works the other way - the ones you're looking at have too many modern-looking details for me (chunky soles etc.) the Boneka ones look more like real Victorian children's boots (albeit rather plain ones), which is why I like them so much.

    2. MadamMauMau your Daryl is just gorgeous <3
Prudence mostly wears shoes from fa-tiao on eBay who fit her perfectly and have a nice quality - you might find some fitting ones in their shop maybe.

    3. I know what you mean, Teddy. My obsession is realism, meaning that I am prepared to compromise on the historical accuracy for the sake of boots that look like real boots. Whereas you are a fiend for historical accuracy. What are we like, eh?

Thanks Roterwolkenvogel. Do you have a link to her shop?

ETA: Don't worry. I found it. However, the smallest shoes I could find were external length of 6.5cm, and the smallest boots were 7.3cm! Do you have pictures of some of the shoes on? Perhaps a 6.5cm shoe wouldn't be so bad, and I am just being far too fussy (no change there, then).

    4. MadamMauMau Here's Prudence wearing one of their shoes (they are a rather tight fit with socks)

and one without socks for good measure - I unfortunately have no pics from the side.

    5. Thanks Roterwolkenvogel. I just had a loook in her shop and they don't stock those anymore but they have others which look to be based on the same sole, and they are 5.5cm inside and 6cm outside. Perfect! Trouble is, I don't need shoes in that style and their boots are far bigger. *sigh* That girl is going to stay barefoot for a while longer, I think.

    6. MadamMauMau I'm honestly glad Prudence has one pair of fitting shoes, it's a pain to finde shoes for dolls with such small feets so I feel with you and hope you'll finde a nice pair of boots for your little one!

    7. Double-post for the sake of Prudence in Cadenza.

    8. Oh my, Roterwolkenvogel, that red curly wig is hotness! Not that Prudence would be boring in any photo, thanks for sharing her! (:

And you were right. Her size is adorable in real life. Everything about her is adorable! I love the feel of her resin and her posing and her real ball shaped joints. And her thighs! Her wig is not here yet but here's one quick pic. Actually I got her more than a week ago after being on the way (to my dealer and then me and stuck at the post offices everywhere) for 3 weeks and could not wait another moment to open the package and put her together. I can't keep my hands of her and have been planning so many outfits and looks for her. But there's not enough natural light at these latitudes this time of year to take any photographs so you'll have to take my word for it.

    9. Hehe, I have something to add to the Aya goodness at the moment too.

      Merry Christmas from Rosebud! :hollyberry

    10. Gorgeous shot - very atmospheric

    11. Thank you.)

    12. lilas So pretty <3

Just jumping in with Prudence's final look with an amazing Leeke RealCarrot wig *w*

    13. Red hair and green eyes, my favourite combination.

    14. Roterwolkenvogel

Your girl is so vivid now!) I liked her with dark bluish wig too, but carrot gives such a different feeling.

    15. My Ninnette likes to take pictures :)

    16. Just wanted to share a picture of Rosebud in her Easter clothes. ^_^

    17. Hello,
I'm really fan of this pretty doll with her body so different from other doll's bodies! :aheartbea

      I hope you love her.

      Thanks

    18. May I introduce ~ Báthory, my AiL Aya :) <3

    19. The body is lovely~ I'm going to order my Alice~

    20. They really do have the cutest, little child-like bodies. ^_^

    21. I'm kinda thinking of Aya as my next doll maybe... curious as to the posability with these dolls as I've never seen one in person. Also anyone have comparison pics with other similar child sized dolls.

    22. They are kinda finicky to pose, since they have true ball joints. So, they are double jointed...but the joints don't hold like other dolls. The hip joint has a little peg to hold it in a standing position, but the knees tend to buckle. The elbows also like to bend, so the doll tends to curl up given it's own choice. This all makes standing a bit tricky. It can be done though. In the photo I posted above, she is standing unaided and I haven't modified her in any way (i.e. sueding or wiring). The balls also give the hands and feet a good range of motion. The torso is a single piece. They take patience. Hehe. ^_~

    23. Thanks Lady R.... never knew this about them, just kinda admired them from afar. Don't see many of them around, and curious as to why as they are very cute dolls. I'm really partial to doll with both oe and sleep faces for one doll, and Aya could have an extra head easy enough. I think she has such cute expression. Funny how dolls call to you when you've been thinking about getting another. I guess it's that since alot of folks don't have her, I dunno. I like the idea of having a doll that is more original and not like everyone else's. In other words, one you just don't see very often.

    24. Hm, that's true. You just don't see many of these little ones about. I wonder if it's because they are a little different stylistically. They kind of harken back to an older aesthetic since they have more traditional ball joints, and Aya especially reminds me of certain traditional japanese dolls.
But I agree about the OE and sleeping versions of one doll...I have both the open and sleeping Aya heads, myself. ^_^

    25. apologies in advance if this is somewhere here already, but how soon do they ship after paying? is there production waiting period?

add: just ordered blank Aya, in white skin, and wondering when I'll get her.
Have been looking at her for at least a year now, and finally bought her :)))

    26. I'm sorry, I can't remember how long I waited for my order to be sent out.

I hope you don't have to wait too long for your girl.

      Teddy

    27. oh I found it! in terms and conditions, "Delivery time & date : In several days from confirming the payment."
YAY! will be posting box opening when I get her.. which companies have clothes, shoes and wigs that are best fit, by your experience?

    28. I only have AiL heads, so can't help with what clothes fit the bodies - although if you read back through the thread I'm pretty sure there are ome posts about clothes for the AiL mini bodies.

Hopefully somebody else will respond with more detail.

    29. Hm, I'm not really certain on store-bought clothes since I sew mine myself. ^_^"
I have my girl in Iplehouse JID shoes though.

    30. I used to own an Aya and she wre regular sized MSD clothing (such as Dollheart, Dollmore and so on) and I had one dress custom made by Dei from Haunted Doll House (which is now in the posession of my MSDs and fits them perfectly) - you just have to be careful with the length as she is like 10cm smaller than the average MSD.

    31. AiL are so nice!!! I was refunded the shipping fee, because they started a free-shipping event. And even though i made the purchase almost a week ago now, they refunded me the shipping fee! I am a very happy customer right now :D and not even because of the money, but because that was just a very very nice thing to do.

    32. That was a lovely thing to do - Yay! for Nice doll companies!

    33. I love the new sculpt:fangirl:

    34. Ooh, where?

    35. I have a gorgeous little Ail-Daryl, whom I sent off for some modding a few months ago. She's finally done, and will be on her way home in not too long! Her torso has been modded into a two piece, and oh. my. gods does she look amazing!! Can't wait to get her back and post some pictures for you.
Are any of yours modded this way?
She'll be needing a new faceup and I might as well do some body blushing seeing as she's already unstrung :)

    36. Mine has the one-peice torso in tact. I love the aesthetics of it. I'd be interested to see what the mod looks like though! ^_^

    37. Recently I'm really tempted to buy the AiL Aya head and put it on Doll Chateau MSD boy body. But...does anyone know how would such hybrid work proportion wise?

    38. Probably not too well, unless the neck is narrower on the Doll Chateau body than on the Kid Delf bodies (and shorter too)

I tried my Daryl head on both Kid Dlef boy and girl body and the neck was too thick to fit into the socket on the head (worse with the boy body than the girl), and the neck looked too long on both:

    39. Hm, I don't know either. It's an interesting combination since the Doll Chateau bodies are so elongated and thin. It lists the neck size as 6 cm for both the girl and boy bodies. What is the neck size on your Kid Delf bodies Teddy?

    40. The Kid Delf girl neck is around 6cm (perhaps a tad over)

The MinoruWorld Junior boy body I have him on (a good fit and proportionately good) is just over five and a half.

    45. Hi everyone! I know this thread has been dead for nearly two years but I wanted to perhaps revive it with a picture of my white skin Daryl, who was recently painted by the amazing @maiya !

    46. I am fond of the Daryl sculpt - despite it not being at all my usual type of sculpt.

      Teddy

    47. Very pretty! ^__^

    48. Hoping to revive a potentially dead thread - does anyone have newer photos of Aya or any of the minis?

I fell for her when she was originally released and find myself in a position to be able to finally get her within the next few months.

    49. Not me, I still only have Isambard, my Daryl/Minoruworld junior hybrid.

      Teddy

    50. @tiarah
I have an Aya, are you interested in the dreaming or open eyed head?

    51. She’s adorable!

I'm looking at getting the open eye kit, actually.

    52. Ah yeah, I usually have the dreaming head on mine and haven't taken a photo with the open eyed head in quite a few years. :sweat

Please show off your Aya when you get her! I'd love to see more of her around.
