Alice in Labyrinth Mini Discussion

Xen How is the resin match with plantdoll? I have my Alice on a Volks FCS body and since they are a match I would love to know more bodies that match.

 

The eyes are from AiL sometimes they give them as a special gift. They do not sell them right now but hopefully in the future. I have these blue ones and a hazel pair but I really want the green ones.
I love AiL they are a really great company.

She's a lot smaller than I thought she'd be. She's supposed to be able to wear 40cm clothes.

 

I was shocked too when I went to put her in the cabinet with my other dolls. I had just taken it for granted she was as large as the others. Imagine my surprise to find out she only came up to Seola7's shoulder...hehehe. I still love her though, and can't wait for her face to come alive.

 

I got mine this week too. I was really disapointed. Her hands are so manish, the fingers are almost webbed except for the thumb . and her head seems too small for her body. Her collar bone sticks out too much and her eyes are very small. I love the ball joints even though it means I don't have as much movement and she won't sit alone. I think her face is pretty. I am hoping a faceup and the right wig will make a difference. But I'm weird in that just like I would not get rid of a child if it was born with issues. I feel like I just need to love her more and dress her cuter(LOL) I measured her and I think she will fir the kish 14 inch doll patterns. if that helps anyone with clothes.

I did a search & looked through some threads trying to find anyone who had a similar problem and all I found was a thread about AiL heads on Dollstown bodies but that was mainly asking about resin matching...

I need help! I have been doing the math for about an hour now, comparing pics and I'm still not confident without actually SEEING the parts in RL, but I have a question:

I am interested in purchasing the female Aya AiL head to put on a boy's body. The problem is, I would like to put her head on a LUTS Kid Delf Boy body but I don't know if the head will look too small...a Kid Delf boy body WITHOUT the head is 36cm tall, but Aya plus her AiL body WITH head is 37cm tall! *gulp* its not a terrible amount of difference, only the LUTS body will be slightly taller...the legs being the wackiest....Aya's legs are a total of 14.3cm, while the legs on the LUTS boy are 22cm! *doh*......does anyone think this will look a bit wonky? Should I go ahead and go for it or look around for another body? I am POSITIVE I want the Aya head, I just don't want my Aya to be a girl!

Any suggestions? Thanks guys!

A question for those who have already received this doll. How does she sit? Can she sit upright or does she fall back. I have found this to be a problem with one piece bodies, and even two piece bodies. Would appreciate any answer. Shirley in NC

 

No,she cannot sit alone,she has to use her hands!!
But,nevertheless,the doll is gorgeous !

 

i just ordered Aya unpainted head and body. I think she is about Narsha size. It's a nice size. Maybe Narsha clothes will fit her???

 

Aya head has the same size as Mini Alice.I have a Mini Alice and her head is Yo-sd size!!!!
So it would not match to a kid delf Body,a 30cm body like lati green would match well!

 

My Aya kimono fullset has just arrived, she is absolutely beautiful.
She is nice and weighty for a small doll and feels good to handle.
The only thing I wasn't expecting was the size of her hands - they are large and not quite as dainty as her delicate little face would suggest...
But she is lovely and I'm very pleased I ordered her... perhaps I'll order an Alice to keep her company

Hmmm, do you think the large AiL doll heads would look alright on a Kid Delf body maybe?....a better fit???? Or heads will be too big in this case?

For anyone thinking of buying little Aya, here are some photos

Her hands seem slightly large in proportion to her body, just my opinion, but she is such a beautiful doll it's easy to overlook this.


Her kimono outfit is made from quality fabric and is very well made




Beautiful face-up! Looking down she looks so serene, she has much character.

Her wig is lovely too, soft and smooth.


She cannot stand unaided, she cannot sit up straight, and yet she is so very beautiful I don't care about these little problems. If you can overlook this too, I can highly recommend Aya.
This little doll has the the weight and the feel of an antique porcelain dolly, she has the looks too.

she is like a little visitor come to bring me good luck and happiness, I'm sure she will too!

 

Ooh! your fullset Aya is lovely! My Aya unpainted body arrived today, and she does have that porcelain feel. She didn't have any teeth, so maybe I'll have to make some. Her body is really different from my other dolls: She doesn't seem to stand straight, although she might with a saddle stand. I like the look of her joints, but naked and unpainted, her head looks almost like a different material from her body.. I'm looking forward to doing her faceup.

 

ndavid812 It may be an idea to contact AiL and ask them to send you the missing teeth part - from the photos on the website it seems a teethpart is included with the doll.

You didn't get the teeth part ndavid? You definately need her to send it to you its part of the doll as Pianissimo said !! can you both take more pictures nakid ? large ones laying down and just MORE closeups and in general of the body, the feet the hands etc... is the head smoother? and the body a bit rough resin? it could be she sanded the head and not the body or the body needs to be washed down as it may have mold release substance on it. Or is the resin a different color?

I would love to see pictures of your girl before you do her makeup! head and body.

 

Treelore, what I meant by the head seeming to be almost a different material is that without a wig, it seems a bit small in proportion to the solidity of the body (especially large hands and feet), and the color seems a slightly different shade and texture. Both head and body are nicely sanded, so that isn't the problem. I have a Narsha girl, and she is the same size and proportion, but Narshas have large eye sockets in comparison to Aya, and slightly larger heads, I think. Thanks for the advice on the teeth.

 

Your Alice is really beautiful! Is she NS?
Do you think the resin AIL NS would match Bambicroni NS?
I'd really love to see more comparison photo between the AiL NS resin and Bambcroni resin.

 

this girl is so pretty, I am totally in love with her. I hope that, if I ever have the chance to, I'm able to order one.

Does anyone have any more comparison photos of her standing next to other MSD sized dolls?

 

ndavid - Check your box carefully all bit of bubble wrap for the teeth!! Once a company sent me an important screw wrapped in a tiny bit of bubble. Its only because I emailed then and they told me they wrap it in a bit of bubble I then looked though and luckily still had my packing and found it!

Yes the head is definately a on the small side ! the bodies are thick and then shorter than most msds definately not the norm.

I e-mailed AIL about the missing tooth part, and received a message back the following day: a tooth part is in the mail! They were very sweet about it, very gracious. I will post a picture of my Aya soon, with my Narsha.

 

Has anyone tried a Narsha body with the Alice or Daryl head?

 

i am using the 41cm planetdoll body with the AIL mini heads, with a little sanding of the neck, it is very good proportions.

The body proportion is ok for me but the match resin isn't good.
No need to sand the hole of the head

the head is NS, and the body is also NS. the planetdoll resin is a little more yellow, but not bad at all.

Has anyone tried different hands on Alice? Love this body but the hands are way too big IMHO!! I wondered how minifree hands with the hooks would fit?

 

Just got my Alice head. I have her on the Planetdoll 41cm body-- resin match is good, but the body is weird. Torso, arms, hands are all OK and in scale with her dainty head, but her legs and FEET are just way too big! I kinda wish now I had bought the whole Alice doll,but like you bjbnut I had reservations about those big hands. I love the head but it does not fit on any body that I have. Maybe I will try the narsha body next...or keep my fingers crossed that Ail will eventually sell the body alone? (Seems like they ought to, poor Daryl needs a body too!)

i actually have that head on a planetdoll 41cm body, the match is not perfect, but good enough. the neck needs a bit of sanding, as it's slightly thick for the head, and the resin color is a bit more yellow. not bad though.

 

MISS ALLY :what is your planetdoll the skin color ? Natural or white ?

 

oh forgot that part.... both head and body are normal skin.... i could take a photo, if you want to see a totally blank doll.....

ok, here's both Aya and Daryl in NS, on Planetdoll 41cm NS bodies, not the taller 43cm..... i like the look, as they look like young teens, as opposed to young children. i was thinking of sanding the breasts down, if i wanted one to be a boy, but, most likely i will leave them as is. you can see how the neck is a bit wide on Aya.

I ended up putting my Alice head on an Asleep Eidolon mini body (newer style)-- I think the proportions are a little better, resin match is pretty good.

Funny, in your pics, MissAlly, she looks just fine on that Planetdoll body...for me it just didn't look right. Maybe I need to sand the neck more?

If only the Planetdoll bodies didn't have such thick clunky ankles and big feet! But I do love the immature torsos and dainty hands the 41 cm Planetdolls have.

 

I just ordered a pair of hands in yello normal resin from dollfie's fashion island. She sad that the match would be good. If not, she would take them back.. Will post pictures in about a month. They are a preorder, so my fingers are crossed......

AIL company say:
We are making changes for the better for a few parts of Aya body.
>It will finish around a week later.
>Would you please wait it?

I ask :
- What kind of change ?
>Can you explain to me ?

They response:
-We are making her hands smaller and joints bend deeper.
She will become better looking.

That is good news!! I love everything about that body except the hands.
hmm...wonder if that means they will sell the body separately?
I kinda wish I had bought the whole doll now and not just the head!

oh, that is SOO much prettier!! Will they sell the body separately? Seems like a good idea since I'm sure there are many Daryl owners out there who would like a body! My Alice is happy enough on her AE body, but I was wanting a younger look for her and this is definitely more of a mature slim-mini body.

 

Oh that is so much better! I love the little legs, never noticed the detail on the thighs before.

Has anyone tried an OLDER DoC body with the mini Alice head? I understand that the Mini Alice head goes well on an AE body so I wondered about the older DoC body... I believe it is shorter and the color is more beige... any thoughts???
