Alchemic Labo Unoa Discussion Part 6

My Lusis arrived yesterday and I love the fact that she is already assembled. She poses beautifully which makes me feel a little reluctant to pull her apart to remove her seam lines. Has anyone considered not removing the seam lines? I'm debating if I should or not.

 

Sienna, I wet sanded the sharper edges off but resisted going further because I did notice very tiny bubbles along the edges of the ankle-foot joint. Was afraid of exposing bubbles if I went too deep!

 

Sienna, I feel the same way - I took her apart to change the chest plate, and found it quite an adventure. But I will again disassemble her to glue together the upper leg part (cap - looking ). I find that I'm almost doing damage right now by not doing it sooner because when I sit her down/up, it pops out...
When I do that, I think I'll also do body blushing and cover the whole body with MSC, so taking her apart will happen only once or so

 

I'm disassembling my Sist right now. Her leg washers seem to be firmly in place, like they've been screwed in or something. I'm noticing little engineering improvements here and there. She should be called the unoa 1.75.

Here is my first Unoa Lusis, she arrived this past week. I can'd decide if she is going to be named Frith or Selah and obviously she needs her faceup.

I was wondering if it was still possible to get any high heeled feet for Unoa 1.5(eh, what version should the Sist/Lusis be now!?)...I read that they existed for 1.0 and 1.5 but that post was in 2007 -_-"""

 

Snowfern: The heeled feet for 1.5 should still work for these girls. I know they still fit my fairy from the old ones back from 2007? Noppin is still selling those right now, so you can still snag those if you want them.

 

I would have picked some up if I had seen the high heeled resin feet on noppin as well! Gamekitty, where are they listed? I only see the mule soles.

OMG, YamamuraTatsuya, she is BREATHTAKING!!! Wow!! I absolutely adore the way you painted her, and your chosen color palette -- she looks amazing!

Snowfern, unfortunately, for whatever reason, high-heeled feet were only made for Unoa 1.0 -- you can find them in the MP and on Y!J sometimes (I'd suggest putting up a WTB in the MP), but they're pretty scarce. I only had one pair for 8 years, until a friend sold me another pair this past winter.

I had an upper limit that I was willing to pay for them -- some people did have them for sale in the intervening years, but they were pricey. I'm glad I held out until I found them for a price that worked for me.

Good luck, and sorry to be conveying bad news! I wish they'd produce new HH feet, they look unique from every other type of shoe that these girls can wear, AND they tend to stand really solidly in them, AND while I'm at it, I wish they made Unoa high-heeled *arched* feet that could wear all the pretty heeled shoes that Narae and MiniFee can wear.

I'll have to try a pair of Narae and MNF-without-magnet feet on one of my girls, to see if they'll fit in the ankle area and if they'll stand. (The resin wouldn't match, but it would mean they could wear high-heeled boots!)

I'm getting a little bit upset with AL at the moment. I sent my proxy a photo of the problem with the fist hand, they said they requested a better photo. So I sent lots of photos explaining the issue with the hand, now the proxy is telling me AL don't understand the problem, but they will try and explain again.

If they've had to replace the exact same hand for aikoe why would they not be able to connect the dots and see that it's a flaw in this set of hands and needs replacing? I'm starting to feel like they do not want to replace the part for me because I did not go through Noppin or something. There's no way this hand can be used. I've even tried to fix it but the bar won't go through the other end. I think it's a bit unfair to ask me to fix the hand myself when they have replaced the hand for others. x_x

Maybe I'm not explaining it properly? I just basically said the pin is loose so it comes out, and is bent and doesn't sit in the hole on the other side. Exactly what aikoe said here pretty much. I sent loads of photos showing the difference between the two hands as well.

Did anyone else order cat ears? Or do you have older cat ears you have tried on these Unoas from recent preorder? Mine don't seem to fit at all :< The little nubs in the ears don't have any place to lock and when I try to put them to the head, they just dislodge the faceplate. Is the headback different now and the ears old model? >>
And even the faceplate that came with the body is quite so-and-so with the fit.. older one keeps popping off even more. Guess I'll have to do some heat shaping before faceupping. A shame, since the FPs fit perfectly on headback made by another doll hobbyist.

Thank you, I hope so too. It's just frustrating because the pin/bar shouldn't be loose and bent on a new pair of hands.

It is nice to see new girlies here. I got one to share too! It took a long time, but I finally have my Victoria almost completed. She is an Unoa Lusis Fresh skin girl. She looks a porcelain doll here! I love it! All she needs now is some eyelashes and she will be done!

 

Thank you! I just hope it's a misunderstanding with communication from the proxy (who, obviously don't know about BJDs very well compared to Noppin) as opposed to just trying to ignore the problem. Though the photos are quite clear without words.

Whee, crossposting spree. Just so happy that I have a complete Unoa now. This FP needs a new face-up though since it's blushed way too dark. The Sist FP needs some serious heat shaping, poor thing doesn't sit well at all ;_; I'm glad that clothes sewed for MNF fit well on the small bust Unoa too.

 

I love L-bi girls! Yours is so gorgeous! I need to sand the eyebrow from mine and give her a faceup.

 

Sigh. AL have said they'll replace it, but they want me to return the item? I have to pay shipping to the proxy and shipping to them then shipping back. It just isn't worth it as it'll cost me almost the same price of the item to return it. I've asked to see if they can get me at partial refund and I'll keep the broken hands but I have a feeling they'll refuse. I'm really surprised AL wanted the part back. It'd be better trying to fix them and sell them and buy the parts again myself.

I guess maybe they favour Noppin when it comes to replacements, since they obviously have a deal together. I guess this is a lesson learned? If I want cheaper shipping and marked down customs, I gotta expect AL to want returns if anything is broken.

 

@Rinoa I hope you manage to fix it....I know a number of Japanese companies do not like dealing with international customers due to language issues...perhaps why AL chose to work with Noppin instead, hence the roundabouts (

I was prepping my sist decadent for a face up today, and spotted what I thought was a spot of dirt or dust, but when I tried to remove it, it was stuck. Turns out there was a bubble right at the edge of her upperlip, near the cupid's bow!!!



I have also noticed while sanding the seams of the ankle part of the calf part that it had small bubbles...I wonder if this resin has a tendency to bubble at thinner parts? I decided not to trade it in but take the opportunity to mod it, will upload pics when that's done. the bubble was at least 1/2 mm deep and so had to do a painful job of carving and hoping there weren't more bubbles >&#9675;<

On another note, the faceplates don't fit well at all as highlighted by a number of members in this thread...I wound up sanding and carving quite a bit off the neckpiece and back of faceplates to fit. Wish I had read about the heatshaping (?) method before sanding :-/ Has anyone had success with it so far?

 

Gosh it seems like AL are having a few issues. I know Unoa's do have airbubbles, the Unoa boy body of my Sist boy had one when I lightly sanded him which annoyed me. But an airbubble on the faceplate is really bad.

The proxy said they will see about getting a partial refund or getting a replacement without returning so we'll see what they say. I'm not too upset. It's not like a broken finger I have to re-glue or anything so I'll figure something out if it comes down to it. I'm just confused as to why AL treat their customers differently, but I'm guessing it's because of their relationship with Noppin.

 

I used heat shaping with my previous Elder sister hybrid, her faceplate didn't fit the headback at all. It worked great, I dipped the faceplate to hot water, waited until the resin was bendable and then put it carefully on the headback, bending it slightly so that it fit the headback as planned.

Sorry to hear of the problems, you guys So far I haven't noticed problems with my girl other than a noticable air bubble in L-bi faceplate's lower eyelid, but I haven't played with her much so there may be unpleasant surprises hidden somewhere.

I accidentally scratched Saffron Ver 1.0's faceup (( so I decided to do ALL the faceplates haw haw it's late and I need to do eyelashes...but wanted to show the mod for the sist decadent. the upper lip was filed down to remove the bubble, then I decided to widen the mouth to make her smile a little. Not too noticeable difference I think.....daren't mod too much lest I find more bubbles sigh..

Some of my faceplates have been a little rough to fit, but not enough to concern me.

 

There's so many amazing Unoas.... I don't even know where to begin. :P

I recently took Pollen to a doll meet and got her all cute looking.

 

So my proxy came back with one final message and I actually can't believe it! The reason they want me to return the item is because people have been getting photos of damaged items from other people so they can get a free new item. I have to say I am shocked that anyone would do that, especially to a small family run business who have always been so customer friendly.

I would happily return the part, but it isn't cost effective. I'm going to try and fix it and may possibly sell and re-buy when I order again. I'm no longer upset at AL now as I completely understand why they'd want me to return the item.

 

If that's the case, can't you take a photo that shows the hand as well as a slip of paper with your name and the date?

 

It's terrible that a few greedy people can ruin things for everyone.

 

I was thinking that, and asked the proxy before I sent another message saying I'd leave it. I think even that might not be enough. It's possible people are getting photos from friends who had broken parts so they could just write the name and date and take a photo?

I could try. I might just send one final message with that on, but at this point I'm not too bothered about trying to fix it or sell it as is.

Guys, I don't know if anyone else mentioned this yet, but while poking around AL's site, I found this:

The boys haven't been released in fairy skin yet right? So I'm guessing this is the color they'll come out in this time o^o Below them, there is Zest and Xyle too, Belia and Ange and the girls in both Fresh and Fairy (which have already been released though, right?)
There are not dates other than what is above all that (but talking about some events I'm guessing you need to be there in person? and something about b-grades) that they're all in 2014 so I don't think the rest of the information on that page is old either.

 

I mentioned this earlier actually, all the skin tone for boys are going to be released this year. And I thought the boys were released in Fairy Skin before, but maybe not as I don't think I've seen a Fairy Skin boy body, just the faceplates.

 

Rinoa I saw you mentioned they'll be rereleased, didn't see you mention the skin tone! xD I don't see anything about them being released in Fresh Skin though ono The Fairy Skin is pretty recent and since the boys haven't been released in...what? 4? 5? years? My Lusis arrived today! My gosh the skin colour is gorgeous! I put her next to my oldskin girl body and just, wow. She's so pink and pale and beautiful. I'm so glad I got an orange wig with her too! XD

I need to restring her with the large bust part soon. I'm so happy to finally have a fairy skin Lusis!

TwT I finally began sanding the sculpted eyebrows off my Sist's faceplates today. I stilllll need to do more sanding work on some of the body as well though. Sanding my Unoa has been more difficult than most of my other dolls for some reason though...maybe the resin is stronger or something? My Sist's character really isn't very fond of clothes either, so that means I really have to get them perfect. OTL
I've been taking my time with my Sist's though. I still don't think i'm quite over the shock of owning one yet, so i've been kind of intimidated to work on it. I'm glad i'm finally making more progress on him now though!

 

Snowfern: If you do ever get those feet let us know if it works out!

I got some good news yesterday. I was at an event here in Osaka, and had a chance to speak with AL staff. They are so nice and awesome!! If I'm not mistaken there might even be a second preorder for unoas later this year, as they are trying to make production more regular and the dolls more available. So those of you who missed out this time, there is still hope!

The AL booth also had a "play corner", where you could see the different series and play with them! It was amazing to see a box full of unoa dolls.

 

I'm so jealous you got to meet them and see all the unoa's!
