Ain Completed

Aug 7, 2007

    1. Dollist you did an amazing job. i just love him:aheartbea. i wish you the best on your sales though i doubt that you'll even need it.

    2. OH MY! he have a very nice body *¬* i love him... i mean, I NEED HIM! XD waaa you maked a excellent job. Hope to gather enought money to buy one :aheartbea is a excelent price :o

    3. I have a question for anyone who had their doll's seams sanded. How sanded were they? I mean were they non existant or just smooth to the touch? I'm sanding the first doll and I'm not sure as to how much I need to sand the seams. I should have been doing this in between casting :sweat (I'll remember that next time). Uhg, the thought of possibly sanding many dolls...falls over.

      Thanks if anyone could help!

    4. At the end of the day I just like playing with dolls....
I finally talked him into combing his hair:lol: ! Ahhg, I still need to sand his sprue!

    5. INCREDIBLE!

I'm swooning hardcore! You have done a FANTASTIC job! I'm just totally loving this boy. (in case I haven't mentioned that) You're going to have no problem selling these boys!

      :D

    6. Hm. The Narsha doll I have was sanded to the point where I have NO idea where here seams originally were, and it seems she was sanded with a super-fine-grit sandpaper everywhere just to create that effect (possibly 800-1000). Now, I can't imagine trying to sand away seam lines without the help of a small belt sander and some really fine-grit finishing belts of paper.
A lot of dollmakers don't sand their joints, especially those running the shops out of their own homes. If it seems overwhelming to you to sand each of your dolls, you might want to offer it only as an extra with some additional $$ to cover your expense of time - time you could be spending sculpting or casting, so the fee would need to compensate you for that time.

    7. I've sanded the seams on the first doll and even though I used 1000 grit last there are still matte parts (he comes out a bit shiny from the mold) against the shiny parts. I'm thinking I might have to give him a rub all over with the 1000 grit so it's all even. I don't know if I could sell him like that although a coating of MSC would make him all matte too. Or maybe I could just discount the price and make it known that he has some shiny parts and some matte sanded parts....hmmm, another dilemma for the dollmaker.:sweat

*Edit- Had a thought from my woodcarving days. I used a brown paper bag over him and that buffed the surface back to the shine. In future I think I'll be casting with talc!

    8. Eva, Congratulations, you did a great job! He's a very handsome dude:love

    9. Oh my, that's one beautiful doll. He looks so alive in the second photo and everything about him is so graceful.

    10. Also, I often will use cotton material -- like a particularly soft shirt or sock -- to buff a doll back to a shine. It works pretty well.

    11. Oh, yeah, the cotton idea is a great one - I've often used fabric (usually junky T-shirts) to buff sculpey smooth and to get rid of some of the awkward bumps that tend to form. Haven't used it on Resin, but I bet it works well!
I've even got a cotton buffing tool on my Dremel at home.. I bet that would work wonders. ^_^

    12. omg i love him on the photo's he has such a dreamy look.:fangirl:
Again, you have done an incredible good job!!!, you really are a great artist.
I'll be keeping an eye on your posts.

    13. I never trust you if you didn't told that this is the frist doll you'd made it.

He looks a life and also pretty looking boy!!
wanna see more of him!!! XDDDD

    14. Okay, the first one is finished and in the Marketplace. Wish me luck! Oh, and there's a lot more pictures there.

    15. Ah, he's so wonderful! And I never quite realized how delicate his hands were til now. o_o *loves on*

    16. hope u can sell him!! good work. I really love his eyes.

    17. Hmmm, maybe $400 is too much to ask for an unknown artist's first doll. :( I really want someone to have him but maybe things take a while in the marketplace. Well, in any event, the wigs should be here in a day or so and then he'll be absolutely ready to head off somewhere. I guess I need to be patient...but I'm loosing "steam". I had to re-cast the #2's upper arms today because I think one of my darling children thought he'd have a go with the piece and an exacto knife....gaah, I need a studio with a lock on it!

    18. I personally don't think it's too much but I do think it's a bad time of year (personally) I'm desperate to get one of the dollzone pet dolls and those are only availalbe on $400 + through the end of december and I'll probably have to skip that too because of x-mas shopping.

i think it's a tight financial time of year for alot of people. I'd be happy to $400 for such a lovely boy but I won't have the money till next year.

If you're willing to do layaway you could post that in your thread and maybe then anyone else with tight financial constraints could maybe offer for him.

It's really killing me to wait. He's soooo pretty.

    19. :o you are already selling one! :...( i need some money!
      *Go and checks in marketplace*
I think is a wonderful price and actually i do like more first dolls of new artists *__*
You already have a lot of experience doing dolls (the village in your deviantart gallery is a good example), im your fan!

    20. Aaagh! I think I would die - it's bad enough when I screw up my own pieces or break them.. :...(

    21. I told them I wouldn't get mad but nobody owned up to it.

    22. As soon as I sell a few casts of my own doll, your boy is coming home with me! *snatches and flees*
Is there any chance he will ever come in a white skin tone? (pale boys are smexy!)

    23. Actually I was thinking of trying a pale boy in the next batch!

    24. Aww, I wish I had four hundred dollars now ;_; He's very lovely. I love his face.

    25. OMFG!!! KYAAAAAA!!!! *superfangirlGLOMP* Pleeeease post pics of him if you do try a pale one!!!!!!!:D :D :D

    26. The second Ain is in the marketplace! :)

    27. Today I'm doing a pigment test for the white skin Ain, finishing the last bits and bobs on Keid's head, and since I had to crack open another bag of clay I'm starting the third and final boy (of this size/range...later I want to make a 45cm boy(s) like my stoneclay Poe). You know I had planned on making a girl next year but I think the ideas for the 45cm boys are outweighing the girls...I wonder if I'll ever make any girls at all....

I'll see how light Ain is when he comes out and post some pics if I can (It might come out yucky...I think that last bit of my resin went).

      -eva

    28. Yay! Ooooooo, goodie! 45 cm boys! I did soo love poe. He was adorable. I really look forward to seeing your third SD boy! ^.^

    29. Here's the test of the white skin next to the normal skin (hehe, that I'm modding...very slightly).

    30. Ooooo I love the white skin! It looks FANTASTIC!

You're making me soooooo ancy to have money again to buy an Ain. He's just so awesome.

    31. White Ain is fantastic!!!!!!!! <3<3<3 I wish I had money for him RIGHT FREAKIN NOW! But I must be patient. -.-

    32. Thanks! I'm getting some more resin soon and I think the next one I'll do will be a white skin. I'm going to try talc in the mold so hopefully he'll have a soft finish as well as being pale...little powderpuff boy  , and I'll post pics when I'm done!

      -eva

    33. Oh! to the side of white skin Ain the normal skin Ain looks like a tanned version :love now i love him more heh

    34. he looks really nice, but change him a wig

    35. Thought this might be cool...

He actually stood on one foot without being sueded or wired (he's not being supported by the wall). I used 5/32" cord and now he can do all sorts of things. Aww, I'm so proud of him! I'll take pics of this pale one (yes he hardly has any pigment added to his resin...remember the white cast in my lamp light?) in better lighting next to my ...hmmm, tan?...boy . I hope this one sells pretty quick...I almost feel like I get attached to them...like I want to keep them all*_* !

      -eva

    48. Has anybody watched/read Death Note?
I spent all day trying my hardest to make some clothes and for some reason I think he ended up looking a bit like L (I finally got around to fixing the black mohair wig)...I didn't intend for this to happen, it just did  ! Anyway, I just scrunched him up in the chair and took a picture.

    49. That is so cute! Add some black eyeliner and he can TOTALLY be L.

He's just great. Great job on the clothes too!

    50. thanks! I'm out of MSC (I think maybe aliens have abducted the last cans of it from earth) so I'm going to have to try some Testor's (flinch) but I've read a lot of people seem to do okay with it. And, oh crap, the clothes were an all day project. He's dressed so I think I'll be done sewing for a while!

    51. He is soooo nice! I hope I can get one when I put the money together...

    52. No kidding about the MSC. It's ridiculous. I'd say testors will do you just fine for now. It's what I've been using and my only complaint is that it tends to get grimier than MSC. If you keep him away from dirt and don't touch the face much he sould look great till you can redo it with MSC. :)

The clothes may have taken awhile but they look fantastic!

      :aheartbea

    53. He's really great. You did a great job

    54. Well, there is a whiteskin Ain in the Marketplace, and hopefully I'll have a website up sometime in the near future so I'll be able to put that in the news section. And I'm going to be pouring molds again, yippee:| , for Keid. On top of this I have a fantastic cold that's just knocking me out....need sleep....

I thought I had posted this stuff but it looks like I didn't......:hamster: ....sorry I had to do that at least once....

      -eva

    55. ahhh! i love him =_=
      hes a beautifully sculpted doll
maybe ill get enough money one day ><

    56. WOw he looks so cool!!!!
how did you working with the ruts on his joint?

    57. Hi~ Thank you for the reply! :)

Aww... he's a little too tall to be my girl's boyfriend... He's absolutely gorgeous, though! Very boyish and handsome... Any chance that you'll be making a 46cm boy in the future?

      Cheri :)

    58. OMG! I love Ain L! kyaaaa! When i first saw Ain, I was actually thinking he would make a fabulous Light from DeathNote.>///<

    59. Thank you very much Runy!

      Regards Mela
