1. Ok, I wanted make sure I didn't miss a newsletter or something :sweat

2. JennyNemesis... Yuki looks sassy... xD I hope he wasn't hoping to get intoxicated during the holiday?

3. Thanks! I almost couldn't believe it when I (unintentionally!) found him on Mandarake - a moment of good luck, I guess!

I always love how aloof he looks, and somehow the contrast with the festive tree makes him even more fabulous! :D

4. Oh, he sure was. ^.^ After all, what are holidays for? It's cold and dark, there's lots of good wine around, there's always time to sober up in January. Oh wait, it is January.

For most people, it's hard to maintain aloofness when one's goth christmas tree has a rubber-duckie topper-- but Yuki always seems to manage it. :XD: "I didn't decorate this plebeian thing, but since it's here, I might as well drink underneath it."

Mandarake is too much of a treasure-trove to ever trust that you will come away from it empty-handed... window shopping becomes just too dangerous!

5. Honestly, I would've never guessed that was a Charlotte. That's not a bad thing, of course! Actually, I love this faceup on her! You did a wonderful job!!! :D

Your girl is beautiful! Who did her faceup? :kitty2

They look so cute with their little kimonos!!! UGH! I just wanna snuggle 'em! Hehe.:XD:

6. Thanks so much! I'm deciding now if I will take another go at it. Still with bold eyebrows! First I plan to make her outfit and wig and get her new eyes in place. Then I'll decide if I want to modify the face up a bit. I really appreciate your kind words.

OHHHH I THINK I HAVE A GRAIL doll incoming. Biting my nails...I've wanted a Tohya for soooo long.

7. Thanks! It's Volks' default faceup for the old standard version of Shiratori (2004-2007).
I've added to it a bit, but I still want to give her an all-new one :)

Good news, I just paid for a girl body for Misou, the split-type SD10G (not suwaricco)! I've seen very little about this type, so if anyone wants to know anything about it I'll add it to a photo reference thread when it gets here :)

rianne, your girls are gorgeous, love your F-35! :D

8. rianne, they are a lovely looking trio!

9. Thank you, guys! :3

10. Oh, wow! so many gorgeous Volks dolls.
Hervoyel: I love my Claude the Beast so much. that skin color is delicious! (not that I take bites out of him or anything) :truffle

Mandarake? I've never heard of it. Sounds dangerous.

11. Mandarake is a dangerous place. Once you go inside, you cannot come out again.. those that do are changed forever.

Joking aside, Mandarake is like floor after floor of manga, anime, figures, cosplay, doll stuff, clothes... its like a multi-story insane jumble of wonders. Whenever I go in one, I spend at least two or three hours inside even if I don't buy anything.

The website also takes a lot of my free time if I think about it

12. Hey everyone. Does anyone recall the UDA one off lottery from 2014 where Volks auctioned off a girl Kohya? I'm trying to remember if she was an SD 16 or SDGr. I'm planning to turn my Tohya (he's in transit woot!) into a girl but I'm not sure if his noggin will prove too big for an SDGr girl body. Thoughts and opinions are welcome.

13. I tried my Show on my SDGr girl body and even that looked fine, honestly the shoulders are wide enough to really accomidate any Volks head in my opinion. I also have my really old F09 I could try if you wanted for proportions but the resin match is really off.

14. [IMG]

Maya, my F-17 boy made a new friend this week (the dragon is a Cuartos Dolls Darkhorn in metallic green). They're a bit difficult to photograph together.

15. Everyone has such amazing dollies on here!
just wanted to share my most recent photo of my 2 girls![IMG]

16. Oh wow, Selidor...fabulous pic!

Yes, prince_of_the_netherworld - such beauty...and your girls are lovely too!

Motiko, I have one of those bodies for my Masha Madeleine, and I find it lovely - sometimes the swarrico that my Anais is on can get a bit kicky if the elastics get caught in the notches...but it's a great body for clothing that won't quite fit the solid torso SD10...

And here is my School A Michael (he's on an older CH boy body - the match is perfect!) trying a sledge for size, and wistfully waiting to see if we'll get any snow...

17. Motiko, I have a couple of early SD10 girls on oldskin split-torso B-02 bodies, and I love them -- they sit so much more naturally for me than those original solid bodies do. And this reminds me that I need to take pictures of one of them, who arrived via Y!J before Christmas and still hasn't had a photoshoot, argh! She's one of the discontinued headmolds that I don't seem to see very often -- F-04/old F06.

But here's another recent Y!J immigrant (darn that irresistible exchange rate): Hilly, a sunlight SD F-05 boy.

I've never really clicked with the F-05/F-08 girls I've had, for some reason, so I figured I'd see how I get along with a boy. Right now, Hilly is hanging out with Mish (Dark Gentleman Michael) and Cal (F-25), my other two SD boys, pretending to be the Sweet Innocent one.

18. Thanks for the reply. I just did a quick search for measurements and it seems that an SD16 and SDGr girl have the same shoulder width so hopefully a Tohya head will work. I just wish I had gotten my hands on a SDGr girl in a lottery so I could sample for myself before I buy. If anyone has a Tohya or a Kohya let me know your thoughts too.

19. Isenn, my concern would be the head's neckhole and how it fits/looks on the neck. I had my F34 head on a Graffiti girl body, and never quite liked it because the Graffiti neck is slimmer, so I eventually put it on an SD16 girl body, and like the fit better. And as for the Kohya one-off -- if it's the one Volks USA offered for their online store reopening -- it was on an SD16 girl body. I remember that because I put in for her; I wanted her body for my F34! :XD:

20. Isenn As beamlette said, it was an SD16 oneoff. She was super pretty! I only have an SD16 girl with the old, wider shoulders, and I think the oneoff may have been on the "feminine" shoulder body, but SD16 is definitely broader than SDGr. And as beamlette also said, I think neck size is where you'll want to look as for how the head fits. SD16 girl necks are closer in size to SD13 boys, which is why it's so much easier to hybrid between the two! (And why Olivia and Amelia make such awesome boys. ;)) Tohya is a very small head, but with the bigger neck opening might bobble a bit on the slim SDGr neck. Though the length of the SDGr neck might save you! I do have a Tohya and SDGr and SD16 girls, but unfortunately I currently have my SDGr girl's body packed up and away for an upcoming trip. :sweat If you can wait about two weeks, I'll be able to put his head on her body for you to show you how it fits?

In the meantime, my Tohya is actually currently residing on my SD16 girl body! I've decided I hate his boy's wig, so he's spending time as a girl while I wait to get his new Crobidoll wig.

21. *falls over at the sight of thesaraghina's doll - that dress!!!!* :bcake

22. Been playing around with different wigs on Aki. Can't get enough of it. haha

23. Finally! Finally I can show off Frannie. :D Last weekend a friend visited me and brought his new camera with him - to take pics and get a better feel for it. Frannie was delighted by the attention she got, of course. Please excuse the lack of a face-up - just couldn't wait to show her to you.

There's more pics here: Link to Frannie's Photobucket album
Including two of her and Jack (Jack of Hearts, my Narin-hybrid whom she absolutely fell in love with, never mind the difference in height - he's due for a new face-up in February).

Many, many thanks to Affinite who sold me the Emma head and to amaeta who sold me the SD16 body and also made that gorgeous dress for Frannie! :D I'm happy beyond words to have her here!

24. Sharing my new girl, Ghazell -- she's a modified SwD Tae (I bought the roughly-modded head from Y!J, and DenaliWind cleaned up the mods and gave her a beautiful face-up :D

25. Oooh, I love Tohyas, girl or boy! There was a time when I longed for one of my own. I'm really loving thesaraghina's Tohya as well~ @w@

Congrats on the new girl, Ashbet! She's so unique, I don't think I'd have realized she was a Tae without your mentioning it!

I've got a new girl of my own coming in (I hope!) within the next few days. Unless there's been a terrible mistake, one of my holy grails will be living with me - Volks Yu Morisawa, though mine will be on an SD13 body because it's hard to get the SDGr body on its own. XD I'm still waffling over her name, I guess her arrival will be the deciding factor. But assuming she gets here all right, I think my collection might be nearing completion - at least as far as must-have dolls that are in my price range. It's such a weird feeling. I got a surprise Christmas bonus from my job and thought I might buy a doll with it, but nobody seems to catch my eye anymore. I think I've been spoiled by good luck lately!

Speaking of good luck, here's some spam of one of my little good luck charms, who is still waiting on his proper outfit from Mandarake (I was able to organize an exchange since they sent the wrong size, I'm just waiting for the postal service to do its thing). I'll spam him more when he's in his proper Sherlock set, of course! (I'm shameless, I apologize in advance).

26. Back tracking a bit, I love the kimono on your F01. The colors and everything are really gorgeous.

Is it by a dealer? Their fabric/color choice is great. I've been searching for a kimono for my Amakusa (not anything quite as flowery though, haha) and've still not quite hit that perfect one yet.

27. Thanks so much for your help and advice. I will happily wait a few weeks if you're willing to try your beautiful Tohya head on an SDGr body and share your findings. I'm focused on finishing my Charlotte and Kaelin updates so my new girl concept can wait. Thanks again!

28. What beautiful and unusual combinations of Volks dolls we have on here right now!!

Khell, congratulations on your Frannie! I think that Emma is highly underrated. She has unusual features in her sculpt, her pursed lips and wide elongated eyes, plus her nose is very much like Lucas! Some people don't like her nose and sand down the width, but I think it's very important to balance out her wide face. I LOVE my Emma, though she is all default. Can't wait to see Frannie's faceup! I love seeing non-default faceups on Emma -- on any Volks, really! The potential is astounding, as we can see from just flipping through this thread.

29. petiteballerine Haha, thank you! ;) Ichi certainly looks like a sweet confection in all that lace. X3
animagic4u Aki is very sweet! I tend to get one "default" wig for each doll, but changing them can be so fun!
Khell Congratulations on Frannie! I do love Emma, and you hardly ever see her these days! I look forward to seeing her with a faceup! :)
Ashbet Congrats on your new girl! ^^
Lolita Thank you! I just love Ichi's gorgeous faceup - he was a oneoff from the 2007 NY Dolpa 2 and I was so lucky to win him there! If I wasn't committed to his character as a boy, I would be shopping for a girl body for him already. :sweat Congrats on your Yuu! And of course, your boy is super handsome. X3 I'm with you on finding it harder to be caught by dolls these days, my collecting has definitely been slowing down! Maybe it's something that happens after a while in the hobby to some people. :XD:
Isenn You're welcome! I'll take a pic of my boy on the SDGr body once I'm back! I've seen Tohya & Kohya on SD13G, and while I personally don't like that combo so much, it's much better looking than some of the larger boy heads on that body, and the extra length of that swan-like SDGr neck will probably balance it out really well. Good luck with your Charlotte & Kaelin! I love both of those sculpts and look forward to seeing them!
galatia9 I am so with you on Emma! She's such a cutie, and when I got mine home, I was astounded at how well she resembled the Lucai! I loved the default faceup too, but had my girl repainted last year to look even more devious than she already did. :whee: I took some pics of my Sugar recently after finding some cute decorative boxes on sale that matched her very well, so I'll share one~

30. Ohhh, thesaraghina, your Sugar is so beautiful in her blue hair...what a gorgeous picture..! My Emma is all default as well - I've had her before, but the third time was the charm and she fitted into my collection like a glove...

Alicex

31. Lolita: I am glad to see another Yu Morisawa will be coming in! She is my all time favorite!

32. Thanks, thesaraghina and bajib! I'm refreshing her tracking info like crazy. I've been hunting for one for a year, and she was the first that came up in my price range. She's still in Japan right now, but hopefully EMS doesn't keep me waiting too long and everything arrives as it should. I can't believe how nervous I am! I hope she's everything I've been hoping she'll be. But I'll take pics as soon as she gets here, for sure!

33. thesaraghina Ok...you just made me love Emma now. I always found her cute but not exactly my type. I loooooove her with blue hair. I didn't know she could look so mysterious and mature. Really beautiful photo as well. The props are lovely.

Lolita Super excited to get some Yu photos in this thread. She's a unique girl. I love her body type.

34. Isenn - I would have loved to get her SDGr body, but I couldn't afford it. She'll be on an SD13 body when I get her, but maybe someday I'll change it. It just might be a few years, lol. I do love her little face though! For some reason, I seem to be drawn to Volks girls who have somewhat unusual faces.

35. Ooooh, Sugar is such a beautiful girl! :D The blue hair and peacock feathers suit her very well!

36. I love SD10 and SD13 bodies. I have both and I've always been a fan of the thicker bodies. I liked that Yu's SDGr body was designed very small chested but I think Yu will look great on an SD13 too. I'm looking forward to seeing her.

37. Lucky enough to get to bring home another one of my original grail dolls from when I first got into dolls!

A lovely Yugiri boy, who has yet to be named, and wearing a spare Summer dream outfit until I can find boyish SD13 girl clothing. :sweat
