Well all these beautiful Coco's got me thinking that I need to reconcile with my Charlotte. Since I bought her I've never been able to capture the personality I imagined. I love the cute round faces but sometimes they become too innocent for my little assembly of dolls. So after many a repaint over the years here is my latest take on Latchkey (Charlotte). New eyes are in transit. I'm also going to make a different wig for her. I made this one but it might be too feminine for her future style. Still pondering but thought I would share. I decided to go bold on eyebrows!

 

I love the bold eyebrows!! There aren't enough girls with strong brows in the doll world!

I don't have any brand-new pictures, so here's Suzume in her 'default' wig (not the one I cropped -- I bought a shorter one in the same color for that!)

I haven't been playing with a lot of my dolls lately. I did play with Show, Himiko the other day since she got a new hybrid friend Selkie who has a nice S10 body. And I got a cute little snapshot of them relaxing.

 

Motiko,I looked at him and thought about how handsome he is...which being one of my favorite sculpts, it's obvious, but then I read your caption, and totally understood him in that moment. He is a great boy, and I hope you're really loving him!

I need to get Prince out, but my Nobu (my shiba inu pup) just flew in, so I'm a little iffy about the dolls being out and about around him since he is in that early chewing everything phase....ugh, I need to work on a couple boys too, but oh well, soon!

 

I have a quick question regarding the SDGr Boy ordering page for FCS. At the top of the order page, they have a sculpt demonstrating the three skin colors. Is that an F17? It looks kind of like an F17, but then kind of like a Link. However, that may be because of the face ups used, which look rather serious compared to the face ups shown to be available further down the page. Thanks for any info!

 

They are all the same sculpt, but they're not Link (F-24) or the F-17. I believe it's the new F-28.

Soooo, today I had two new arrivals... *feeling guilty*
I'm super happy with them both, but Shiratori is the one who completely stole my heart the moment I took of the face cover

Thank you so much for the help with the FCS problem I was having. Yes, I found if I just clicked on the description it worked. I did hear from Volks and they are working on the problem.

Another problem I asked about is the sanding service for the extra pair of legs I want. I soon realized I should order the flat foot with the heel foot as the addtional part as it is about $100 cheaper. Since I want my extra set of legs sanded as well, I was told to click on the extra hands and pay that fee and write in comments that the extra is for the legs. They are not sure what I would do if I decide to order extra hands! The screen was supposed to have a part for extra feet sanding. Since this is the first time for SD16 FCS I guess they are still working out the bugs.

Now I just wish I could decide on the head and make-up choice. I am a huge F-34 fan but I have one already. I had Cristy Stone do the face and it is beautiful. She would make a lovely SD16. Soooo......I really need to think which one I want to order.

 

Motiko, Shiratori is a cutie! I had one for a little while, and I loved her big ole eyes.

All the news about the updated FCS is exciting! To add to the FCS hype, I'd like to share my FCS-only beauty, Sparrow. I had originally planned to wait for her mold (F-51) to get added to the online FCS, but this girl popped up on the marketplace and it was like someone had filled the order for me! She is literally exactly what I wanted right down to her wig.

 

IF you don't live in CA would I still have to pay the sales tax for CA? It's like $50+ bucks before shipping and handling for the FCS

 

No, sales tax is only if you live in CA or pick up the doll in person.

Kimchi, your girl is gorgeous! Her mouth reminds me of Kanata's. I'm waffling now... I'm thinking instead of F-38, I'd really like a sunlight skin Kanata/F-47. Fingers crossed he gets added for January.

Question for all you lovely folks: I have an F-34 head... but I cannot seem to keep a wig on her head for nothing. Every wig I've tried in my collection, both the 8-9 and 9-10 sizes from Luts, Leekeworld, and Volks seem either too small or just want to snap/slide off her head. =/ But her head isn't that large. The wigs all fit on my Megu and old F-05 so I'm not exactly what unworldly forces are at work here.

Any advice for wig sizes or fit for my F-34?

 

Try Licht or Crobi? the 8/9 from Licht I think is a bit truer to size, while the 9/10 crobi is a bit truer to size, so it depends on which size the f-34 head is. the Crobi 9/10 fit my megu and f-17 perfectly, but the 8/9 Licht fits my Tae

 

The head could be an odder shape. I know when I owned a Bianka, her head wasn't overly large but the shape of it made fitting wigs to her more difficult. I in the end used a thick, tight rubber band and a strip of Volks wig stop to help give the wigs something to grip onto and not go shooting off her head.

 

Funny, I was trying on wigs tonight on my F-34 to see what she would look like for the SD16 I am ordering. The best wigs I found are the Monique Gold 8-9 inch ones. I have a Volks wig from my Elena and, although looks great on her, is slightly too big. The two Monique Gold wigs fit perfectly. Just my opinion.

One more question before I complete my new FCS order for the SD16 girl.

Do most of you keep your girl in the high heel feet? I have not seen any shoes listed for the flat feet legs and really do not care for the idea of changing out legs. Is it worth it to have both sets?

I almost always keep my SD16 girl in her high heel legs. Those shoes are so gorgeous!
(But then alllll of my girls wear almost exclusively high heels, so she's not really an exception.)

That said, the flat feet just take regular SD girl flat shoes, so if you like or have a lot of those it might be worth it. It's not hard at all to switch out the legs on the SD16 girl. It's kind of just like switching out hands. The hook just catches in the knee and you replace the whole lower leg part which is already strung separately.

 

Oh thank you! I do have three SD 13 girls already and they have plenty of shoes to wear. Glad to know it is easy to change out the legs though and that the flat feet are the same as my SD 13 girls. I did not know that and was going to ask. I was thinking of her resale value and thought, maybe, I should consider the flat feet. But after your comments, think I will save the extra $$$ and put it towards more high heel shoes. I sometimes think that I "over-think" my dolly decsions!

BTW Hera, your girl is just beautiful.

Okay, I have her ordered! It showed the order when I first checked and now it does not. I did print out and save the PDF order copy. And the money was taken out of my bank. So will it take a while for the order to show again? I know this was asked some place but I could not find it on this thread.

I am so excited as now I can do more shopping at Freedom Teller. I have about everything from them for my Iplehouse guys and gals and now I can get some for my new girl! I am hoping Volks will offer FCS for an SD17.

Out of curiosity....has anyone tried to put a SD16 girl's head on a DD Dynamite body? Will the neck fit? Thanks!

Hm...I only have a DDS and I know she's more slender and all that than DD Dynamite, so this isn't exactly helpful...but just looking at my SD16 and my DDS (who happen to be sitting right next to each other) the DDS is soooooo much more petite than the SD16! I worry that the SD16 head would be really big on the body. I'm curious now. Hehe.

 

Well the DDy is a pretty substantial body, but the bigger question here is it's a vinyl body with an internal skeleton. It's not strung on elastic and therefore you would have to jerry rig some system for keeping the head attached. I know people used to hybrid resin heads onto the DDI body because it was strung like a regular resin BJD, but not sure what would need to be done in order to get a head to stay on a DDy.

This is my Peroth, who is on a regular legged SD13 boy body, next to the Kanu I used to own. SD16 girl heads tend to hybrid well onto SD13 boy bodies.

 

Has anybody ordered one of the FCS SD16s from this round? I was hoping and praying Amelia was in this round - I ended up going for Sunlight Pearl instead

 

Hi guys I really want to know the available fcs for boys this round besides the fcs 57 ^^

 

This is the first month I have actually looked at the online FCS menu. Have they removed any of the heads that were offered in the previous months or have they only made additional options available each month? I am wondering if this is going to be a slow growth toward a complete FCS or if it's going to be random surprises each month that make it impossible to plan an order in advance.

I didn't order my SD16 girl this time. I can't decide on skin color for my Pearl and decided to stalk anyone who placed an order in Ebony or Sunlight. I'm going to wait until January to place my order.

 

Ebony or Sunlight Pearl was my dilemma also! I have ebony Ruby and all my other SD16s are NS. So I figured it'll be nice to have a bit of variety. I think she should be here by January (after being held up in customs over Xmas holidays!)

 

Big ups to Volks for making Shiratori look like a boy and a girl at the same time, I think they did great on that angel-aspect of the sculpt!

I had some real problems choosing her name, none of them seemed to fit until I eventually found the one.

I'm really torn on whether to get the SD10 Suwarikko body or the one-piece torso SD10G for her though. What do you guys think? Pros and cons?

So...Volks is already getting kind of pushy about the online FCS, disallowing shopping services...I mean the US shopping service is so cheap for an online thing, probably way cheaper than most of the overseas ones that I've seen, and anyone who enters into a service agreement here does so at their own risk, not at the risk of the company, so I guess I'm curious as to why they have such a problem? They seem to be saying we shouldn't even be screen capping too...

Oh well, I won't be a shopper for others, but it think it's a little harsh for those who wish to buy who can't even see the options, to say that we can't offer to help them out even for free it seems. Maybe they are planning further expansion and don't want us to ruin their sale base worldwide before it happens? I'm being super optimistic here...

They should be grateful for shopping services , seeing as FCS is (correct me if I'm wrong), basically only for USA or Japan only ? What about all the other continents worth of people that would LOVE to buy not only FCS, but other volks dolls ( lottery : etc) ,.
I very much doubt they have something special lined up, ie an EU online Store ?

Shopping services basically enhance their sales base. I wouldn't have been able to order my Pearl without one .

 

This is very disappointing I was saving for a future shopping service to be able to get my dream volks doll, this basically means I'll have to wait for the off chance someone's buys one and sells on the second hand market for a big price increase I'm sure...playing into the hands of over pricing on the second hand market rather them more direct payment to themselves I'm rather give my money to volks themselves directly makes me sad for all of the rest of us not lucky enough to to be in Japan or America.

 

My advice would be to go with an individual who runs a shopping service, or just ask a friend to help out. They can keep major companies from joining, but unless the individual was ordering 10 dolls at once, there wouldn't really be a way to track the difference between someone who orders FCS on someone else's behalf, versus ordering FCS and selling the doll after it arrives.

I love Volks dearly, but some of their business decisions are mystifying.

It seems that way, they made the statement very clear in the New section about "Shopping Services" and such. I guess someone from Volks does look and read in this thread or other threads on the forum and can see who offers such services and point it out. For those that want to do FCS but live in another country might want to email Volks and ask why they cannot order a doll of their dreams. There has to be a reason why.

 

Volks has always disliked shopping services, even for FCS done in Japan. This is nothing new from them. There is really nothing they can do to stop it, provided the person ordering isn't ordering an outrageous amount of dolls each period.

 

Kim Thanks for posting the photo of the SD13 and DD, I think resin and vinyl color differs too much. It would be interesting to see an sd16 head on a DD Dynamite body, I like the DDdy body. Vinyl is light. SD16G shares some clothes with the DDdy.

Motiko.....I am becoming tempted to get a Shiratori....I love anyone that looks like Isao. However, I had better not look.....on my wish list are the F50, Olivia Morgan and a DDdy. Can't add to the list but oh.....they make her look like Isao!

I forgot I still have this old photo......Miss Kusugawa belongs to my friend. Her vinyl does not seem very different from the resin boy. It would be hard to make a resin head stay on the body though.

Oh, yeah, I mean this is totally not unlike them with their in-person practice, but I guess it is just strange to me since they have such simplified options online as opposed to their actual Sumika and Sato services. I certainly am not saying people shouldn't still do it if they really want their dream Volks doll, and it's available, but another thing was them telling us to not share the options...that are on the internet...oh well, I say do it if you want to!

I am waffling on my next order, between F-36 or F-16, or F-01 boy...it's just so hard, good thing I don't have money for another order for quite sometime!

 

Speaking only for myself, I prefer the look of one piece torso. I'd like the one piece torso with suwarikko legs! LOL! Is it possible to hybrid them?

One piece torsos are more difficult to string. I don't know about the suwarikko legs, I don't think I've ever played with a doll who has them.

My guess would be that they're worried about shopping services being used by recasters/recast enablers to get the Sato-only and previously-LE heads that're being offered right now. I don't personally keep up with what has or hasn't been recast yet, but I know that there've been plenty of instances of counterfeiters using these sorts of methods to get their hands on limited items.

As has been said, there's not much Volks can do to prevent people from running shopping services. I'd hope people would be savvy or ethical enough to at least avoid aiding counterfeiters, but it seems unlikely.

 

Volks can't stop us from taking screen caps and It's pretty silly of them to try to make this online FCS so secret. Don't they want more orders? Maybe business works differently in Japan, but for me, an American, if something is too hard to buy I just give up and seek an alternative. Playing hard to get doesn't enhance the thrill for me. In fact, I don't even like the 'thrill of the hunt'. I'm lazy. I want to be able to go online, select the doll I want, and get it a few days later. I don't even like to wait! I always say that I love Volks, but if they keep making it difficult to buy a doll, there a plenty of other great companies that I can choose from.

EDIT: But, Chobi pointed out that theyre probably just trying to protect themselves from recasters getting the molds, and that is a very good point. I still think if they increase market saturation, there won't be a need for recasters! I'm totally against recasting and theft, but it's one way to reduce the problem from a purely business point of view.

 

Lol, which is funny because all "those guys" are in the asian countries anyways, and theres volks international too so.. i don't see how it helps =/ ah well lol.

Recasters have gotten a hold of dolls a whooole lot rarer than some FCSsato and LE molds, so if that's actually something they're considering it'd be a little laughable.

Apparently they can stop us from sharing them, though. They (Volks) got the links I posted of the screen caps I took removed here on DoA after contacting the forum about it. And those weren't even for proxy use, just showing non USA residing users how the FCS was set up. I love your dolls Volks, but as a company you are so out of touch.

I actually find the fact that Volks can get something like that removed from the forum a bit ridiculous. Volks' ToS applies to Volks website and Volks website alone. Not DoA, or Tumblr or Twitter and they really shouldn't have a voice at all when it comes to this sites content (DoA brings Volks new exposure, not the other way around).

 

Hey, whatever might make it a little bit harder for them. I obviously don't know what the thought process is, nor do I have any influence over what Volks does, but I doubt they just institute sweeping policies like these for a giggle.

Being in the US means none of this affects me anyway, so... ;P

 

idk how much recasts are allowed to be discussed on DoA, but usually (as far as I've seen), rather than the actual person doing the recasting buying the doll, it's a recast supporter, or supporters, who get together and either provide the doll for the recaster or provide the funds for the doll for the recaster.

Not saying that they don't buy their own dolls to recast, but majority I've seen done this way.

 

RANT:
I hope Volks reads this thread. HOW STUPID can they be? I've spent thousands of $$$ and would have spent quite a bit of that at a Volks site, if, you know, they had a logical one like Soom or Iplehouse. OMG Japanese marketing - kind of like military intelligence - an oxymoron. They certainly are going about NOT selling in the correct manner. Meanwhile getting all upset about South Korea beating them economically. And I will continue to buy the majority of my dolls from South Korea.

And all you Volks apologists - SURE they can do WHATEVER they want. They also can lose SALES that way!
