[Adopted] Volks Super Dollfie - SD, SD13, SD16, SD17, SDGr, SDGou & FCS - XIV

Oct 5, 2014

1. Hehehe... Yes, Jenny... :D They are Maki and Ryoya... xD
Thank you so much~ And you're welcome!
I was trying the SDGr/SD17 hands on them and also some mohairs... xDa
Volks is re-releasing Maki as another sculpt name this Dolpa... ^^
My Maki would be glad to see more brothers coming home!

2. //Wave hello to everyone. I just enjoy browsing through many handsomes and beauties in this thread. :D
Here is my Daria girl, Darjeeling in Flapper style, to join your company.

3. Oh wow, Rudy, your girl looks so fabulous! I love her whole look. Totally rocking it. :D

4. [IMG]Aki by animagic4u, on Flickr

Working on taking more artistic photos. This big hunk of Resin is something I'm not used too, haha!

5. I recently had the opportunity to handle an SD16G Pearl in every FCS skintone, and thought I would leave a comparison picture here in case it is of interest to anyone. :)

6. Oh wow, that's super helpful! Thank you so much. I think I love sunlight Pearl best.

7. Love your Christmas girls, ruskyles!

fransyung, your boys are gorgeous! Thanks for sharing them.

Rudy, your Darjeeling is breathaking.

So your Jun is your biggest BJD, animagic4u? She's beautiful! Love her faceup.

Linda S.

8. Cecile has arrived!! He's got the biggest head I think I've ever seen, but he is breathtakingly handsome! I can't believe I got him this time!

9. Congratulations, Lolita!! He is SO handsome!

LOL, Cecile does have a big head! I had one visit me before. But I still like him SO much.

Linda S.

10. Holy moley, FOUR blank SD16 Pearls, together! :aeyepop: That is one cool pic; thanks so much for posting it. Are they all the same wider-shoulder bodies, or is there a narrow-shoulder body in the group?

Lolita, yay and congrats on your Cecile's arrival! Hehe, yeah, Cecile is one of the adorable melon-heads in the Volks line-up, compared to Isao ;)

11. Whoa Rikka_Mika, thank you for sharing. Like Tetradeka, I like the sunlight skin best of all (lover of tanned skin dolls!).

Thanks, galatia9!! :D

12. You're both very welcome, it is my pleasure! :) I'm actually quite fond of the white Pearl, but indeed all four are drop-dead gorgeous! This was my first time ever seeing Volks FCS White skintone (I had only ever seen the old Volks Limited Edition release white skin tone before this point), and the color is much lovelier than I ever imagined. Seeing all of these skintones firsthand has really excited me with the possibility of adding more skin color diversity to my collection.

You're more than welcome! :) It was quite a fun picture, truly an experience to remember. I don't think I'll ever see so many Pearls in one place again. Oh, that is right! I should have mentioned which shoulder options they all have. Thank you so much for reminding me! :aheartbea Three of them have the Feminine shoulders, while only the Ebony Pearl has the Normal shoulders.

From left to right they are: Ebony Pearl with Normal shoulders, Sunlight Pearl with Feminine shoulders, Normal Pearl with Feminine shoulders, and White Pearl with Feminine shoulders.

13. That's a brilliant picture, Rikka_Mika! What a fabulous chance to see all the skin tones together - I can see me using that pic as a reference from now on...thanks for posting it!

My three Muses wish you all Happy Holidays and a wonderful New Year!

(And apologies for the craptacular photo...my resolution this coming year is to learn to take better photos of my dolls!)

Alicex

14. Rikka Mika- I said I loved the sunlight Pearl, but the more I look at the picture it would be sweet to have a pearly white Pearl too :) I think you made it even harder for me to choose!

Alice80- Happy holidays to both you and your dolls!

Lolita- And your Cecile looks like he walked right out of a fantasy game :)

15. Thank you everybody! I still can't believe I have my very own Cecile. I thought that Isao had a big head until I met this guy! The weird thing is that he seems so much bigger than Gatsby, even though they're both on SD13 bodies. I think it's because of the difference in head size! They look a little weird standing right next to each other, so I tried to disguise it by placing Gatsby slightly in front of Sherlock when posing them together. I think Sherlock will have to be the older brother! Having two hunky Volks guys around is starting to go to my head, I think if I ever get a Reisner as well (if only!) I'll probably die.

16. This is very helpful indeed! I do love Pearl in the Sunlight skin tone.

17. Thanks for sharing your lovely Muses, Alice!

Lolita, they look very brotherly!! I think Sherlock does look a tad bit older. I am surprised at how much Gatsby looks like a Link!

Linda S.

18. Wow, Rikka_Mika! Those Pearls are gorgeous! I think I like the white skin best too. :)

I hope everyone had a great holiday and has fun plans for the new year. I had a wonderful Christmas! I suprised my twin sister, Fallout Wastelander, with a SDGr Creamy Mami! She didn't have any dolls of her own but earlier this year she accompanied me to a local ABJD convention and had been talking about how much she wanted one, Creamy Mami in particular. (She had a Volks SD Ria years ago and I think she liked Creamy Mami because they look similar in my opinion!) On Christmas morning first I gave her a little box with an outfit and wig I picked out for her. She looked confused but then I told her I forgot the other part of her gift and pulled out a big box from behind a chair. She started crying when she saw the size and shape of the box! It was the best Christmas I've had in years. I hope everyone else's Volks Super Dollfie dreams came true! Anyway, I thought I'd share a picture of the special box and the newest addition to our Volks household. :)

19. I'm a fan of the show Creamy Mami and the doll! She is just so cute! And that wrapping is fabulous! ~ Congrats on your sister's Mami~ You're so thoughtful.

20. baby-mermaid, that's the sweetest thing I've heard in a long time! Your sister must be so happy. Congrats :)

21. animagic4u, Thank you! I haven't seen the show but now I feel like I must watch it (plus it looks super cute). Congrats on your new one-off Ami Ayase by the way! She's beautiful!

Tetradeka, Thank you! I think she's pretty happy. :)

22. baby~mermaid, that's very sweet! :D Merry Christmas to all!

23. I love all the Volks resemblances. It's one of the reasons they're one of the companies I love best! I'm glad you think Gatsby looks like Link, I always wanted a Link but never got one before they were discontinued. I love seeing pictures of yours!

24. baby~mermaid, how sweet! Your sister is one lucky gal to have a sibling like you. <3

25. Has volks mentioned anywhere about a FCS for January?

26. baby~mermaid - That's so sweet of you! especially Creamy Mammy is just adorable. She has an adorable retro Japanese doll face I love.

27. I haven't had the chance to do a proper photo shoot yet, but I'm so excited to have brought home Claude the Beast (came across him on Mandarake while looking for wigs and had to have him) that I wanted to share a quick snapshot of him anyway:

This is brilliant - thanks for sharing it! :)

28. Loving all your pictures!

fransyung, they're gorgeous!! wow!!

ruskyles, Sui is so beautiful!! LOVE your pictures so much! <3

Lolita, congrats!! Your Cecile is amazing!! So glad you finally got him. <3

Rikka_Mika, wow, all the resin colors together. Thanks so much for sharing! Amazing picture. :D

Alice80, they're so beautiful!!! They do look like muses. :)

baby~mermaid, awww, that was a very sweet story!! :aheartbea
You're a wonderful sister, I bet she's very very happy!
I have to admit that although I had seen the Creamy Mami dolls I had no idea there was a show! It looks really cute, now I have to watch it, hehe.

captainkyo, I was wondering the same thing. I remember vaguely Volks or someone mentioning a January FCS, but I didn't find anything. If there is one, they will announce it soon, I hope.

Hervoyel, congrats!! :D
lol, you were looking for wigs and bought a Claude. Mandarake does sound like a dangerous place!!

29. Thank you, fransyung and Midori! aznbutterfly, thank you! I agree her face is a little different than most of Volks' current sculpts. Retro Japanese doll face is the perfect way to describe it! :) himitsu, thanks so much! Haha, yes, that makes two of us who have to watch it now!

I'm also waiting to hear any news about the January FCS. I hope they add more heads!

30. Hervoyel Claude looks great! I too often get sidetracked on Mandarake. :sweat

Aki got a new outfit and wig today~ :aheartbea First time I actually undressed her since her arrival.

31. How did I miss these pics??

Rudy, your Daria is a beauty! Lovely picture! <3

animagic4u, you Ami Ayase looks wonderful in her One-off outfit and now in her new clothes! She makes a very beautiful redhead. <3

My boy is still in the clothes he arrived, I odn't think I'll change him anytime soon. Not just because I'm lazy but because I love him in that outfit, hehe.

lol, I wanted to check Mandarake (I won't buy anything! Really!) but it kinda confused me, I found only a few BJD related items so I'm most likely clicking in the wrong links. ^^;;

32. animagic4u, she is beautiful as a redhead!

himitsu, your boy is a perfect one-off just as he is!

Linda S.

33. Whoops, sorry, only saw that just now. Internet was pretty wonky that past week - spent it home with my folks who live in the country and their access is kinda meh so I wasn't online as much as usual. Thanks for checking - I guess I'll be taking her apart this weekend, then, to glue the magnets back in. I was pretty surprised when those magnets suddenly fell out! *lol* Now - where did I put them? *starts looking for magnets*

34. Thanks all, I wasn't sure how she looked as a redhead but I love it!

Mandarake is tricky! You often have to search multiple ways, i.e. "Volks" and "ボークス" can often bring up different results. I recommend searching everything in romaji and then katakana to be sure. :)

35. Gosh, can't leave this thread for a minute.

animagic4u: your girl is so vibrant and cute!

More Illyana spam. I can't get enough of her, and the SD16 body is just fantastic!
[IMG]illyana by 木漏れ日, on Flickr

36. This gets quite a few results as well:
http://ekizo.mandarake.co.jp/shop/en/search.do?action=keyword&keyword=dollfie

It also sounds like you can buy direct using paypal, unlike yahoo japan which requires a shopping service. :)

37. I've also started using just 'SD' as a search on Mandarake, which brings up a lot (though it also brings up a decent amount of gundam stuff)! Mandarake is a terrible, wonderful place.

38. Hehee, yup, I also tend to use "Volks SD" as a keyword on Mandarake or eBay which has gotten me into all sorts of wonderful trouble (like Holden, my SDGr Kaelin, who I really did get a good deal on - less than release price a few years after the release is usually a very good thing for a practically untouched Volks fullset.) Of course, to get all the results, sometimes I also search things like "Volks BJD," "Volks Dollfie," it goes on... Of course, if you stalk Mandarake daily (there have certainly been times I've done so) just looking at the latest updates to the doll category can be a great way to find someone and snap them up!

I don't have new pics of my own to share since I'm so busy and exhausted, but seeing all the pretty pictures is always nice. All these gorgeous new boys and girls coming in! :D Soon things will calm down for me... I keep telling myself that...

Even though I'm primarily a collector of boys, I'd love to have a SD16 girl sometime, because the broad shoulders and narrow hips on that body just shout "strong independent lady" to me, and I already have a 1/4 scale girl who's going to grow into one of those. And I have this other character to shell that a shadow skin boy would be perfect for, but both of them will have to wait. Doesn't stop me from scrolling up and ogling the pictures on this page, though, nope. :XD:

39. I'm a more-or-less daily Mandarake stalker... orz But that's how I found Cecile, so I can't be too sad about it! I got my Kurenai from them as well. You can definitely pay with Paypal, which is convenient!

There's pretty much always something on Mandarake that I want... I just can't afford it. :P I usually just go with the generic "dollfie" keyword link on the homepage and searching with both "Volks" and "ボークス" unless I'm looking for something in particular.

40. I wish I could stop checking Mandarake. Three of the six dolls I bought this year (and that's three dolls over my yearly "quota") I got from Mandarake. :D And I don't even check ALL the options - I just browse their Super Dollfie category (that little pic on their starting site) and the general Doll category. That alone yields way, WAY too much stuff! ;) And payment is much too easy, too. *sigh* Mandarake will be my downfall. *lol*

41. Thank you! And yes, dangerous is exactly it! :D

She's stunning! I love how the leopard looks on her! :aheartbea

She's gorgeous - I love the sharpness of her eyes in that photo. :D

Heh, "wonderful trouble" is a perfect way of describing it! :)

That's what I do as well. I don't know if I've just gotten lucky, but I've always found what I'm looking for that way - and sometimes things I didn't know I was looking for! ;)

42. Oh what a great day! My little guy from Mandarake arrived back home at my parents' place today, safe and sound. Mum's coming here for some shopping on Friday and will bring him for me, yay! And my Dollheart order arrived today, too. I seem to have lucked out on the two fukubukuros I bought. The one for SD13 boy had some fantastic stuff in it - Tristan's wearing the wig and some of the clothes right now and it looks awesome on him.

And I seem to have lucked out on the Ddy fukubukuro, too. The stuff in it will either most likely fit Franziska or be easy to adjust if it doesn't. Two skirts and a corset that closes in the back. Shouldn't be too difficult to make those wider if they're too tight - I'm sure Mum can help me with that, she's very good at sewing. And the shoes from the preorder that I got for Frannie are fantastic! I think I'm now officially addicted to Dollheart, too ... *sigh*

43. Eeee! Congrats! Can't wait to see pictures!

Just made an to DollHeart on Christmas, super excited! My friends in my local DD community all got fukubukuro and one of them is slowly unloading all his unwanted items on me! I've become addicted too :XD:

44. Thanks, Hervoyel! I didn't intend for her to have these eyes, but they make be permanent now.

Khell, congrats! It's always fun when doll goodies arrive all at once.

My Volks sisters got a fairy-tale (Snow White & Rose Red) themed shoot for the New Year. Hope yo all have a good time tonight; see you in 2015! ^^

[IMG]snow white & rose red by 木漏れ日, on Flickr

45. That's pretty, rianne... Happy New Year to everyone! ^^

Speaking of Mandarake, here's the link to the BJD category : http://ekizo.mandarake.co.jp/shop/ja/category-doll-sd.html

Sometimes a few items (not BJD) are miss-categorized there, too. xD But all of their BJD stuffs (including DD) are there. ^^ It is a dangerous territory! I check it almost daily... xD Just to see the updates. Unfortunately, those are only 50% of their real-life storefront items... *sigh* I wish they would put everything online. There are just so many more...

46. Hey there Alice80. I love your girls soooo much. These molds are my favs. I have a Masha too and she's such a serious girl with those eyes. The F16 has been on and off my list for years. I think it makes one of the most beautiful dolls in the hobby. I keep holding back my funds in favor of something wildly different from Masha if that makes any sense. I think I'm going to cave eventually. Yours is killing me.

I wish you lived in LA because I'd love to help you with your New Years resolution. One really easy trick to improving your photos is to use natural diffused light. Sit your doll in the shade or place them in a window with indirect light and experiment moving them in different positions so you create shadows on the face which will add volume. In England (I think you're from there) the light is soft and cool and overcast days work really well for doll lighting. I don't take many photos with an indoor lighting set up because it's so much easier to use natural light and get a decent result.

This is an example of a time I simply sat a doll close to a window on a bright but over cast day. I tilted the face slightly and created a bit of shadow so she was less flat. I hope this helps.

Thanks for sharing your girls.

47. Isenn- I love your Yugiri, she's so dramatic! And excellent tips on the photos.

I took a picture at sunup with party girl Rhiannon. She stayed up all night to see the first sunrise of the year. Happy New Year!

48. Such great photos! I love volks I was told volks usa shut there doors and are online only now is this true?

49. Everyone, your ladies are looking so lovely!~ <3

It's been like this for a while, now they offer online FCS for those who couldn't make it out to the store before. Additionally they've made their online store a lot more robust since then.

50. Oh boy, please NO! If they put everything online they have I'd probably be broke by now! *lol*
Meeting my Mum tomorrow for dinner - she'll bring me my little guy from Mandarake. And finally fixed Frannie's leg magnets AND tried on those Dollheart Fukubukuro clothes. They all fit - yay! :D Expect photos early next week. I'll have a friend over this weekend and he's bringing his great new camera. :)

51. Lorina received her new wig today :)

52. Oh, that wig really suits her so well! She looks awesome! :D

53. Hi I thought I would share of my Una in her new outfit I just got today. I hope you like her^^

54. Oh Yurikun, her outfit is beautiful!! She is so sweet.

55. I've wondered about that but had no idea that actual percentage of items listed was so low. If I'd known that I might have trekked around to more of the Tokyo-area Mandarakes looking for a Kazuya Kujo last time I was there, haha. I did finally go to Ikebukuro Closet Child for the first time, and was amazed by how many dolls they had crammed into such a small space at the back of the store... prices seemed higher overall than Mandarake, but they had a huge variety I wasn't expecting - lots of different brands and sizes, from old and yellowed heads to pristine fullsets. I restrained myself since I had a lot of moving expenses headed my way and just got an SDMidi Dai from the new Volks store in Akihabara.

But now that I've been trying so hard to be good the after event is coming up. I saw a banner on the international site that said it's on the 17th, but a footnote said something about the process being different this year - guess I should check the Dolpa thread for that info. Still really, really tempted by Lieselotte, and wanting a Volks girl is a bit of a new thing for me. I've especially liked her, Charlotte, Lorina and Alice for a while, but I get sidetracked by the boys. ;) I'd still love a Yu Morisawa boy, actually. Wrxgal, your Lorina is sweet!

56. solitary agent : Yup... Just 50%... >< There are so many more. But not all Mandarake stores have BJDs. Only some. ^^

57. She's gorgeous - it really suits her! :D

Very pretty! :)

I just replaced the eyes in my Beast Claude - it's a small change, but I like the difference it makes:

58. That Claude-Beast is absolutely stunning! :aheartbea Congratulations on finding that guy.... I have fallen in love with every Claude-Prince I've met so far, and the Beast is no exception. He is an exceptional sculpt.

Editing to add some post-holiday celebrations... Yuki is toasting the end of the holiday season with a couple of glasses of wine under the tree. :treecookie

59. Does anyone remember the pricing for the Online FCS SDGr boys?
Volks hasn't said anything about when they will take FCS orders next have they?

60. No, they haven't even mentioned the online FCS yet.
