[Adopted] Volks Super Dollfie - SD, SD13, SD16, SD17, SDGr, SDGou & FCS - XIII

I got into the SDGrB page but that was about it. Man, I really want a sunlight SDGrB F-17. I know it's an old head but I've always loved it. Now I just need hoards of money and out of options on where to get my hoards.

 

I have a VPN and it still won't work for me...I emailed my VPN provider to ask if they will add the site to their list, but they said they'd need to..." take our entire customer base into consideration when we decide to add support for a site. I'm not sure exactly where this site stands but I have added it to the list for future review. "

I thought I'd like Ebony on Pearl a lot more then I do, but I think that it's just the makeup.

Now I'm going to go lie down and agonize over my order.

Sure does, now imagine the crashes we'd get if it was open to overseas viewing despite that they can't actually place an order. Volks has demonstrated time and time again that they aren't properly equipped to handle the initial traffic. Not exactly sorry for being honest about it.

The FCS info always, always get's posted, so there's even less reason for it (hell if I wasn't taking ss's for a partner I wouldn't bother looking myself either).

Gasp. F-38. I may be in trouble.

While waiting, I restrung Henry. Last night he got taken apart and spent the night soaking in water with Polident tablets. His head and body still aren't quite the same colour, but I think it helped the yellowing a bit.



Restringing a solid-torso'd boy is NOT easy!

 

I'm in trouble now. The F-49...he's beautiful. /sighs But so, so expensive. No way for me to justify buying a doll that expensive. 1k for a doll? My parents would disown me. ;-;

That reminds me, I have an SD boy body of my own to restring, my Mark head will be here in a few days! Since the body is loose, I think I'll give him a bath too. solitary agent, did you scrub the body with a magic sponge before his Polident bath?

And my Eden is here, there's going to be a fight over the Volks SD13 long leg body between him and my Ninodoll Iz!

Oh, wow, F-49... I wasn't expecting a Sato-only sculpt! I might like him even more than F-38. I tried going through and choosing the options, but it said my total was $1518... uh... please, no! I'm going to try again...

Actually, no, I'm not. Mid-December delivery is no good because I don't yet know where I'll be living then. Oops! Looks like I'll have to wait for January.

 

Oh Jesus! F49!? I may be doomed. Hoping he's still part of the January order, since he's not a top priority on my wishlist.

 

Yeah, there's something wrong with the page. It's not totaling correctly. It's jumping up over $1400 when you add a head.

Oh wait, I think I know what it's doing. Every time you start an order to see the options, it must save it to a virtual cart of some sort. Since I'd gone through the SD16 already, when I checked the Graffiti boy, I then had both in my 'cart.'

 

Ah, F-17 and F-38 SDGrs! Man, I hope Volks offers them as a choice later. I just don't have the monies for 'em now.

And oh my God, I was expecting them to be in the thousands or something! I'm so relieved they weren't, but also not so lucky, cause... who cares, I have wanted an F-16 for ages now, he was one of the first dolls I have ever wanted and I think after this no more dolls, lol.

 

Wow Volks is evil! How did they know I wanted a F-49?? The lighter face up on the F-17 is exactly the type of face up I like on him too! Ack I just don't know. It's not common to see F-49s around but does anyone know if the head is on the smaller side? I feel like it might be, I may be able to talk myself out of getting him, I like my boys big headed

 

He seems like a small to medium sized head to me looking at comparison pictures, but who knows...I hope you're able to talk yourself out of it!

I need a new credit card looking at this selection. >,>; F-16, F-17, and F-36 all on SDGr in WS...not to mention the cutest F-01 boy faceup...ugh they are trying to steal everything from me! They have been going above and beyond with the faceups in my opinion, I mean we can't be sure until we received them in person, but the basic ones look spot on to their face shape and style, I love it unfortunately! ;,; I'm gonna wait until later, but I know that at some pint they will rope me in...it's only a matter of time...

 

Wow if I had waited until now I could have gotten my F-36 from the online website instead, but he would not have come with Genji's makeup either.....oh well at least I hope they will have the SD16 for next year as well. Then I can get my Ruby for my birthday!

 

That's the one tempting me, too! I've always loved that sculpt, and the sunlight skin, and he would fit in with my other two "oldies," Lucas and Shiro. I need to seriously check my finances, and see if I can swing a sunlight F17. I do have my Alaska permanent fund check, and can use part of that. (see, I'm already talking myself into it! )

What are everyone's thoughts on the Satogaeri services? I'm tempted to just do the standing parts service, and not the rest, but what's the general thought of whether they are worth the extra money or not, especially on a sunlight doll? Can they even do a seam removal on a sunlight doll? Thanks for any wisdom!

 

Well it looks like I'm safe this FCS period. I was hoping they would add more SD head options to the SD/SD13 lineup this month (I was really hoping for Kun/F22), it looks like that is a doll for some time next year! I guess I should count myself lucky, more time to save up~ I was so sure they would add her this month since they used her head as a sample for the skin colors.

Although, I am surprisingly tempted for a white skin SDGr F29 boy. :-/ I don't even like white skin that much, but the possibility just seems so tempting lol.

Thanks for the screencaps!! The options are more limited than I would've liked (no Ebony for non-SD16 T_T?!) but...... even so. The possibilities of SD16 right now... I'm dead . What to do, what to do~

And it's funny about the crazy price difference in the extra leg parts o_O. So, if you want both sets but want Volks to string the flat legs for you you have to pay $100?! Yikes.

 

Yeah, an F29 boy would be lovely! I couldn't even get the pages to load last time FCS was open, so I'm surprised at the limited selection of heads. I suppose the best thing to do is write with a request, otherwise they'll never know which ones we are hoping they'll add to the menu.

 

Pfft, I didn't realize until you quoted me that I typo'd that, St. James. Silly me, I had meant SDGr F49 boy in white skin. Although I am very fond of F29 in normal skin, but I think I'd prefer that on an SD boy body. Maybe my mind was overwriting it like, "No, you would prefer THIS sculpt!"

I think you've really hit the money about writing them. You're right, we probably should message them with what we would like to see added. It clearly worked for the unglued eyes option, and with the ebony skin tone thus far. It looks like they are listening for feedback on how to best put together the lineup for next year. Here's hoping ebony skin stays around and expands to the other lineups, it is such a gorgeous tone!

Turynn - Ugh, I know! That is so weird rofl. Surely it can't be that much extra work for them to string the flat feet legs than the high heels? I've restrung an SD16 girl at a meetup to put the different legs on for a girl and it took like 2 minutes. I can't imagine that being worth nearly $100 more.

 

Okay, I thought maybe it was a typo with the straight leg/vs high heel leg price difference. Seriously strange. Oh well - guess I know which set of legs will be the add on pair!

 

I was actually rather hoping F-36 would be a choice for SD16, it makes a pretty girl. I'm a little surprised with the F-23 choice, weird. At this point I'm thinking either Garnet or Pearl in ebony, but I haven't decided yet. Also, I really want them to offer the fairy heads for MSD!!

 

Aww, all the hugs to your beautiful boy! Maybe someday after a little money comes in, a nice Olivia to keep him company... or perhaps one of these hot-ticket FCS SD16 girls we've all been clucking over for the past few pages. (Or maybe he'll just decide he's happy with Isao. ^^)

 

I have a WS f29 girl on a SDgr body. When I first bought her on the SD13 body, she felt a little bobble headed to me. I think I would rather have her on the SD16 girl body, but I wanted WS and I didn't want to hunt down a Johanna body at the time. I could possibly buy a WS SD16 now >_>.

 

I was a little surprised there weren't more head choices offered for the other sizes... and it was really weird to me that the f-23 was offered of all sculpts in the sd16 line up. I want her someday, but you would think that would have been like a sd13 choice or something. Also, I want a f-34 sd boy some day too.... Maybe eventually they will let you swap heads around?

I have to say I honestly never cared for Garnet or Ruby, but after seeing the choices, I actually really like Garnet but I wonder what she'd look like in person... I think I would eventually want to sand that jaw. I guess I will have to wait until December to see everyone's. Pearl is a must someday, and a sunlight f-16, but even with all the cecile/f-17 i have in the house already, i'm considering another looking at the options xD it's an addiction! I really hope January brings more options for all the catagories... cos that's when I'll probably look into it. Christmas and Birthday money are definitely being shoved in the piggy bank xD

 

I never checked their FCS page until now. I'm not surprised that they don't offer every model. It's odd that they selected Yori and F34 as additional heads you can order as SD16 girl though. Especially Yori I think suits more of a younger body because her head type is very F-01. F34 I can see on SD16 no problem. In fact F34 is very handsome on SD17 body as a boy. The make-up style they offer are really nice.

 

I like the faceups very much, but I think the natural and dramatic SD16 girls look a lot alike!

LOVE the dramatic boys! And the natural boys too, actually.

That ebony pearl looks so hot! And the prices are better than I thought I hate the timing though. I'm out until next year for dolls, but I have a feeling the FCS is only going to get better as time passes and all our Grail dolls won't be so far out of reach! Its making me really consider my wishlist since I'm sure none of us ever thought of a limited sculpt as being an option to customize at this level. Time to start planning without inhibitions

 

I definitely prefer the boys to the girls. As always, I'm not attracted to SD16 girls. I guessed correctly that the F49 and F38 will be offered this time. I find the faceup on the F38 interesting, especially the cheek blushing style (like a mild sun burn) but the artist fall short of freckles.

I had always been on the lookout for a resin girl painted something like the way the F38 is painted this time but with freckles on normal skin that is less than smooth. The blushing should resemble a mild sun burn. Switch girls' faceups come really close to what I'm looking for but they fall short of freckles and the complexion too smooth. So you see, my preference of a resin girl doll is not the same as what my Yukinojo prefers, he prefers Olivia - classic Volks. I most likely will try and adopt Miss Morgan once I find some funds. I might put her on an Iplehouse body if she does not have a body. As for this FCS event, I won't be participating. I am after the F50.

 

Hmm, I wonder if this mean they might offer the sd16 four sisters head eventually. I've just started to look at the sd16 and sd13 sized dolls wondering if I would like an even bigger big doll. But if they released the sd16 four sisters, I would jump for her immediately. It is one of the only sculpts that I can picture going really sweet and really sexy at the same time. A perfect blend!

I do have a question for those of you with the big girls. How do the sd13 and sd16 bodies pose compared to the regular sd body? My google-fu is really bad this week and I can barely find any information on that.

 

MegWesley, the SD13 poses just like the standard SD girls, except the torso can turn. And she is just a little bit taller.

I don't have an SD16 (or a SD Graffiti girl), though. They're supposed to have advanced posing features.

An SD16 girl poses much like a SD13 girl or boy. The knees are single jointed and they stand like rocks in heels. I could leave mine unattended for hours in her heels and never worry about her falling. The arms are double jointed in the elbows and so have a little wider range of movement. I love the SD16 girl body's engineering a lot as it has great stability and looks lovely and still has a nice range of movement.

The price of the SD16 girl FCS is a pretty good deal, provided you select the flat feet legs at first and then add the heel legs extra. Too bad there's no head being offered that I really want.

 

One thing I've really come to appreciate about both the SD16 and the SDGr girls is the zip tie in the head instead of a knot. It's there to allow you to switch between the flat feet legs and the heel legs, but the really cool thing is that it lets you adjust the tension at will. If your girl is getting floppy, you simply adjust the elastic tension. I've been tempted to try stringing other dolls using the same method.

 

I'm a SDgr and SD16 fan girl. They are my favorite bodies in terms of styling and mobility. I had the SD and the SD13 bodies, but I sold them because the lack of mobility frustrated me. Plus, I really love the larger hands on the SDgr and SD16 girls. They look more realistic to me.

 

I've never gotten that damn zip tie to work for adjusting the tension! Even a friend who was stronger than me couldn't get it to work. I have better luck just pulling out the legs -- very gently -- and not stressing the hooks, which I've heard are soft and can be bent easily.

 

I was confused when I got my Tae and saw the zip tie... I had never seen that before it actually worked quite a bit for me...

Question! Which I have probably asked before for boys, but has anyone gotten any Iplehouse YID girl clothing? I'm wondering if it would fit well on the sdgr girl body, or even the sd16 (that maybe eventually I will get next year haha). I used to have a YID girl some time ago and she fit in a lot of my Volks clothes, so I'm wondering if the reverse would be the same. Anyone who can help me on this, GREATLY appreciated!

 

I'm so tempted this FCS round.... I'm considering a sunlight SDGr F-49 or an Elena... I don't suppose anyone wants to weigh in?

 

The zip tie never worked for me either, and it constantly got in the way of things, so I finally cut it off and did my girl's stringing the old fashioned way.

I would just gently pull the legs out to change them and never had a problem that way.

 

Wow, zip tie. I have no clue what that is, do SDGr boys come with it too? Does anyone have pictures of that and want to share?

 

When I had my SDGr body I hated that zip tie, too! It never worked and eventually I ended up trying to pull on it so hard that it snapped the zip tie completely off and broke it. Then I went around shopping for new ones at local stores to replace it, but I couldn't find one anywhere that was small enough to go back on the neckjoint without creating an issue. I was only able to find the large, industrial sized ones. Eventually I got creative and discovered a perfect solution for that problem!

I found those and used them in place of the zip tie, just sticking the untied ends of the stringing through those loops and after that it was always easy to adjust tension whenever I wanted to change legs! Just push the little button and pull to tighten, or else push the button and move the toggle to loosen it.

 

OMG Rikka_Mika!! That's the coolest idea ever for fixing the zip tie thing. You are brilliant!! I gotta get some of those stoppers!!

himitsu, just the girl dolls have this because of their switchable leg parts; the Graffiti boys don't have extra leg parts.

I am tempted as well, but I can see why the SD16 is more than the SD13. I want Ruby, but that F-26 in sunlight skin would be lovely and I would paint her myself. I think Volks has the highest faceup option I have ever seen from a company. If you get Elena are you going to paint her yourself?

 

Is the FCS Online offered til 10th, or will it be re-released with same models? I wish volks also offered some Sato-only molds, such as number 39 MSD

 

i'm so tempted to buy a Pearl..... she's gorgeous! I think that body would be a lot of fun to play with!!

 

A sunlight SDGr F49 is the one Im most tempted to order. But I'll put off my order until January, since I really do want his arrival to come in Spring, since he's a forest-dwelling mori boy. I really hope VolksUSA still offers him then.

 

Oh my, Rikka_Mika ! HOW I STRUGGLED with changing my Tae's high heeled legs to flat feet legs, and when I saw that zip tie, I was completely puzzled... as I had never seen this before. I did finally get my Tae's legs changed, but her stringing tension is not what it should be. Going to order some of these bead things and see if I can improve her life. Thank you so very much for sharing this awesome idea.

I really love 1920's fashion and jewelry (Egyptian Revival makes my little heart go pitter-patter -- I just bought myself an antique pressed-glass necklace with a little Pharaoh or Queen androgynously-beautiful bust and a dangling scarab!), but the fashion is ENTIRELY unsuited for my body. What looks good on a boyish, slender flapper doesn't work anywhere near as well on a figure that could charitably be described as an "hour-and-a-half-glass" -- I'm more the Mae West type.

But, hey, this is why dolls are amazing -- they can get away with outfits that I can't!

Sooo, I have a question. Are SD16G hands actually completely different sculpts than SDGr girl hands???But, like all other Volks hands they're still interchangeable, right? Hmmm... decisions, decisions.

"hour-and-a-half-glass" oh my gosh... laughing too hard! That's excellent. And I know just what you mean. I'm shaped like the nothing-on-top-all-on-the-bottom pear "art bodies" from a lot of companies so I couldn't pull off a 1920's style either without looking 10 times bigger. Sooooo glad I have my dolls to wear all the things I can't wear (or wouldn't want to wear even if I like the style).


Ohhhhhhh, wait. So THAT'S why SDGrs have that plastic tie at the top of their stringing? I've never been ambitious enough to attempt to change out the legs on either my SD16s or my SDGr girls. I just... take the SDGr heads off and put them on SD10 or 13 bodies when I want flat feet hahaha ^^;;; so lazy! Rikka_Mika thanks so much for the link! While it would be very uneconomical for me to order from us Amazon, maybe I can find something similar here :3 excellent idea!!



Spam :3... you know I've become so skeptical after being in the hobby so long. No matter how much I think I might like a doll in the pictures, I actually find that I enjoy it much more when I get a doll and think, "maybe," instead of "this is the one for me!!!" until it gets here, and decide the moment the box is opened. With only loose expectations, opening a doll I decide I can pass on isn't so disappointing... but the moments where I open that doll that's just right... is so awesome. Opening Saki was like that for me. Just a moment of jaw-dropping beauty . Thank you Volks for making her standard (but please add her to FCS someday so I can get her in WS too heeehee)!
