[Adopted] Volks Super Dollfie - SD, SD13, SD16, SD17, SDGr, SDGou & FCS - X

All boy releases for the Dolpa? Sigh. Well, at least my wallet is safe in that department. Fingers crossed that the tiny doll releases are adorable girl tenshis.

 

He is very masculine, I will say that much. He is on SDGOU body after all.

Kondō, hmmm, not really in my taste, but his features look a bit similar to real Kondō Isami I think.

Wow, those boys are stunning! I have a thing for Souji but thank the dolly gods I do not collect boys. I am beyond broke after blowing my dolly budget for the year on a second hand Lorina.

I seriously doubt anyone knows for sure there is an online FCS happening. We have all been wishing for this. I am calling total troll. They seem to come out of the woodwork just to hassle people. Of course, we all want an online FCS with all the molds ever made available but probably not gonna happen.

 

Oh wow I'm really considering getting Hajime as my first guy. Any idea what body he might be on? Sd17? Sdgr? Can't wait for more information to be released =)

I kinda feel a Genji vibe from him, but he looks a lot more angular than Genji, but it could be the face up…all I know is that they aren't selling him apparently, and he is only "supporting cast" according to what the person is saying sadly. Whatever you think of their limited releases, I honestly think Volks has been killing it with the FCS sculpts, both MSD and SD as far as aesthetic. All of the newest choices have me clamoring for a proxy, and fighting with myself to decide which one I want. They are all so different, yet all so pleasing to the eye that it makes the choice exceptionally hard, and it wasn't that easy to start with >,<...

Also…I'm pretty sure they can't try to make me want Okita any harder…>.>;

I'm going to hazzard a guess and say Hijikata. He's got those kind of droopy eyes. But that's only a guess.

 

Sure looks like Hijikata... which makes sense, because he's the Demon Commander of the group, after all, right? - It's just he's wearing a shinsengumi outfit instead of the uniform he came with.

I am loving the look of the new male sculpts, really! They're so elegant and sculptural, with exquisite, strong bone structure, and tons of nuance. Ryoma's cheekbones and Claude's nose just about kill me if I look at them for too long.

And Kondou is a knockout in those closeup shots, too. Bear in mind that Volks photography has that peculiar effect of making dolls look about 25% as good as they do in real life. ^^ So if you fall in love with a sales photo, the IRL doll will blow you away.

 

Well, you both have Genjis so you would know better, it certainly does look like Hijikata, you're right. Would make sense with the whole supporting cast thing too, though another run of Hijikata would go over very well I am sure!

 

As you said, Genji has a generally less-angular look, especially a softer jawline (he looks a lot like Madoka). Hijikata has that pointy-point of a nose and much rounder eyes. And, it'd make sense if the source says they're not selling him & he's a supporting castmember, because Hijikata's already been released. Ohh, what I would LIKE is if they'd just publish a nice clear photo of the four of them, already! Tease tease tease, Volks.

(Having a Genji in the house does mean one gets to stare at him every day... but not-having a Hijikata in the house only means that I get to stare obsessively at him every time I see one onlie or at meetups. He's such a beauty!)

 

Oooooh, Hajime! All of the new releases look amazing, but he has completely confiscated my heart. I think it would be amazing to see a picture of Volks' entire Shinsengumi line along with their other period dolls.

 

Hajime is gorgeous. If they were to re-release Hijikata I'd be doomed... he's one of my grails. But looks like that's not happening now, at least.

Ugh. Why does Volks bring out my inner Pokemon Master feeling of "Gotta catch 'em all" …

 

Yeah I have to say I totally agree Jenny, This new more angular trend with the Volks boys is killing me. I'm very glad that none of these boys seem to appeal to me this round. But it does make me fear for my wallet in the future. Ryoma and those cheekbones just slayed me, and Kondou just made my jaw hit the floor. Alpha male testosterone is dripping from that doll, I'm very excited to see what others do with him!

hehe, yeah Genji was love at first sight for me and still one of my top 3 favorite Volks sculpts released to date I would love to see more with Hijikata I feel like he was a bit of a sleeper hit, because I don't see too many around but yeah a lovely boy. Especially in person

 

I think Kondo wins the prize of Manliest Man From Volks so far. Isn't it funny now to think of the first Yukinojo holding that title?
I have an empty spot in my collection now that I finally sold my Genji, but as much as I love these new boys they aren't quite right for the role. I hope someone I know gets one of them...or all of them, I won't judge!...so I can fawn over them in person. :3

 

Hehe, I love my Gou Yukinojo! I still need a manly evil buff dude that is also an elf for my collection. He would go with my SD16 Megu. I also don't feel any of them are quite right, but its always hard to tell from those tiny pictures. Well, Williams or Hijikata could still be cast for that role, but I will see, later

 

I have a Hijikata myself. I love him too pieces . Sadly I haven't taken many pictures of him because I'm still waiting for his body.i hope it will get here soon I can't wait to put him together completely. I really love the new boys I hope I can get one of them especially Hajime.

 

The only thing that bugs me about Kondo is that his mouth isn't wide enough. Kondo's big claim to fame aside from being one of the leaders of the Shinsengumi was that he could fit his entire fist into his mouth, so they say ETA: after going to the other picture posted I saw a different angle of him... they definitely have painted him up to look like a big mouth!

It would make a certain amount of sense that Saito would be dressed in a naval uniform, as he went to work for the armed forces after the Restoration (called himself Fujita Goro). I really want him since my Hijikata went to live elsewhere!

 

My Madoka and SD16 Yukinojo were grail dolls I waited years and years for and, as wonderful as the new sculpts are, I have yet to see a Volks doll that would make me even for one moment consider replacing either one of them. I still think Madoka is the most beautiful girl and Yukinojo the manliest man Volks has ever produced.

This is not to take anything away from the recent sculpts, though. I really enjoy seeing the newer dolls and I think they're absolutely gorgeous, both default and customized, I just don't get that "I. Must. Have. It." feeling - thank goodness!

 

I'm joining the group of "They're gorgeous but I don't need them." At least, not yet. I'm sure once they are brought home and customized, I'll be wishing I had gotten one. Especially the sleepy Okita~~~

I want to show a quick pic of Darby after her new face-up. It's not what I started out thinking it would look like, but I like the way it evolved. She looks cute yet...there's something going on in that mind....

 

Incase any one hasn't checked the website lately, the last outfit release has been moved to February 22 instead of march 8

 

I still get a wicked case of the Must Have Its for many Volks men-- can't help being boy-crazy!-- but, whether or not I actually accomplish the "have" part of Must Have is dictated by shelf-space. Which is currently null. ;;^^ I love my army of SD13s and SDCs and my original SD16 Yukinojo, too-- and my Genji and the Schoolheads and the more recent SDGrs-- and agree that none of them could ever be replaced. But boy oh boy, if I had infinite shelf space, I'd have me a whole fresh sub-harem of just newfangled angular faces. It's important to have an active fantasy life.

 

Hajime is really handsome! Must not and will not fall for him.....even if he is a total hottie.

 

The other two really aren't my thing, but I do like the Okita.

Wonder if my luck with him will be any better than it was with either of the open-eyed ones I tried for?

Talking of old irreplaceable classic Volks faces: SD13 Tony. From the days when real men had 18mm eyes! I get inordinate amounts of joy from this doll, and have done for the past 7 years or so. Here he is stealing the show from Yuki and Shinji.... I'm not sure either one of them will get to wear this collar again. ^^

Hajime does kind of look like a hybrid of Genji and Ryoya, with Alain's eyes. He's reeeeally intense. I'm a sucker for intense.

 

Hijikata was the first Volks sculpt that really made me want a Volks sculpt. Many more grew on me later. So seeing him with the new line up kind of makes me want to get all of the Shinsengumi boys for completeness, but I REALLY want Saitou. Sadly, unless I get a second job this month it's not happening. *sighs*

I'm really, really glad I don't have any money left for dolls after buying the two Devilman Yo-Midis. Cos I'd be really tempted to try for one of those guys! Oh well, maybe I'll go the Ryoma Sakamoto road and keep my fingers crossed I'll find one of those heads on Mandarake ...

 

Just realized that Hajime is on SDGr... Darn it. xD Ryoya's brother... I should just put my Kujo head on the body and Hajime's head on SD17~

Even I promised myself not to buy more dolls this year, I'll try to get Saito. I've been waiting for his release since years, just hoping he will be handsome - and he really turned out wonderful. As for Kondo, well, at the first pictures I didn't like him at all, but the more I look at him, he is growing on me. Very handsome adult. Okita is cute, I already have the last Okita so the SWD version is no must-have for me.

 

You always kill me! XD Dam, maybe that means even I could sneak up on him. (I've only ever won 1 Volks lottery!)

And yes, wow how the eyes have changed over the years. It's almost jaw dropping to me if I sit down and really analyze Volks progression over the years. Although darn everything, it still doesn't keep me from loving a few older releases like my dear SD13 Shiro.

Can I just jump in and say I agree on how extra dreamy it would be to have all the Shinsengumi boys?! I'd pretty sure I could look at those faces every day and be extremely happy. Maybe it should become a new life goal. :3

 

Is it possible to do that easily please? Sorry if the question is a bit noob, but I never changed a body before except with DD.

It's very easy to change the heads, and many of the SDGr heads (and some of the SD13 ones, too) look great on SD17 bodies. The headcaps are magnetic so they can be easily opened and the heads are held in place with a metal S-hook resting in a groove in the head. Use a tool (Volks makes one or you can use needle-nosed pliers or the like as well) to turn the hook so it fits through the hole in the bottom of the head and then you can lift the head off the body (I usually do this by touching only the ears so the faceup is not touched).

 

I was disappointed as well, since I need to buy another SD17 body Also now I'm wondering how his head will look like on SD17, it doesn't look like his head is big enough in comparison to his neck, but maybe it's just my imagination? I really hope it will work.

MacaronTea, please share them with us! I personally don't have anything against the Prince! I like him, but I already have too many princes in my house and sadly for Prince Claude, but good to my wallet, he is not my must have boy.

 

I had no idea that Hajime was on the SDGr body, I do love my boy with that body, but he might get jealous if I were to try and win Hajime. Something about that face he has that really makes him sexy along with that outfit he is wearing too.

 

I fee the same way, MacaronTea! I've been watching those Claudes sit there forever, wondering if they will ever be adopted out. They are super cute but like others, I have too many dolls to bring home a Claude. I do hope they find some good homes soon.

I understand, Ksusha. I think finding pieces or bodies always seems to be the common problem of all doll people. I'm sure you will solve your SD17 problem eventually. Those problems always seem to work themselves out.

OOh I love you prince! Left overs! He has the type of face that I like in dolls, actually. I'm saving all my spare cash for the Volks USA store closing. My friends convinced me to go, so I am hoping there will be some at the store, or other one-off's to enter for. I hope Volks USA posts more info soon about the last day tea party. I'm worried it will be upstairs at the store and I don't see how they can fit more than 20 people in there.

 

SD13 Sleeping Sho and SDC Kurt were listed on their site for many years after the actual DP. Eventually those were sold.... so just matter of time.

AUGH, do not show me the left over YoSD, I was pretty good at self control last month and did not buy ......... I do not need to know ...... I do not need to know

 

So I'm planning on going to the Volks store this weekend for a FCS order, but I'm curious to know how long approximately does it take to make one? I'm really short on time and it takes an hour for me to get there so just really want to know so that I can figure out my schedule for the day.
