[Adopted] Rosette 47cm discussion Part 5

Mar 3, 2013

1. That was me. Then I had sad things happen and they ended up in the resin box, but I recently got them out and strung Miranda's at least
[IMG]
Pin up Miranda

She can stand in them, I just fail at taking non-lame standing shorts of her so far...

2. bandersnatch I miiiiiiiight have just had another look at this thread for the sole purpose of seeing your beautiful crew of Rosettes again. ;)

Girrl Love those Minifee heel feet on your girl! Looks like the combo works really well!

3. I do still have my Rosette (head) -Chicline (body) girls! The combo really works extremely well. I'm not sure if the MiniFee hands will fit on Rosette arms, and, like elsii, I'm not brave enough to unstring my MiniFee to try. But, I do know that the resin match is really good, so if at least in that sense it's possible!

4. I really love these new Alice in Wonderland dolls. I just spent all my dollie money tho, so I think I'll have to pass. One day I will get one of these beauties.

5. I posted a question on the Soom Q&A board asking if I could order one of the Soom Fairy Tales on a Pure body. I haven't had an answer after 4 days. Has anyone else asked and been answered? Thanks!!

6. No, you're not missing anything. I noticed that about Vela's boots too. Kind of seemed like a cop-out. The other shoes are just different colors of the same shoe designs they've done, but that's understandable, I suppose. It's a bit harder to make shoes than clothes.

And contributing to the discussion of heeled feets, I'm really happy with my Resinsoul heeled feet on Oethel! The balls are a bit big, and the color match isn't perfect (RS NS is paler than most Soom NS) but I honestly don't really notice either of those things anymore. Further, she stands quite well in them. And, they have the benefit of being a bit easier to get hold of than MNF feets. I did a bunch of pics for the "What Fits" thread a while back. The only tricky part is having to switch out the hooks when you have her strung as tightly as I do, but that's always a preference thing.

7. Thanks Anna! I just love the graceful Minifee hands. If the resin match is really good I might just try my luck and get a pair to see if it works out ;)

Melly, in my previous experience Soom usually replies after 1-2 business days. You might want to try posting the question again in case they missed it or something :/

8. Oh thanks for explaining about the Steampunk series, I had no idea o_o What an odd thing to do...

I can understand them most likely not having enough hands or materials to keep up their stock, which on the flipside to them probably isn't worth keeping up if sales aren't high, but it's just a bit sad how limited the choices can be sometimes :/

9. Hey guys :D Can Rosette muse and MNF share shoes? I think I heard something like that. Also, can anyone find SOOM's processing time somewhere on the Rosette site? I have the worst time finding stuff on that site, lol @__@ Thanks :D I'm hoping I can get myself a Vela :)

10. Sorry I can't participate in any of these discussions today, I am totally behind on all Rosette things (well, all doll things, really.)

I have been home sick these last few days so I thought I'd dust off some dollies and take a picture to get myself energized. Last request I heard was tan Armeria ;) So here she is! With her little friend Sparks (Dreamhigh Studio Fira) joining her.

11. They say that the longest you should have to wait is 100 days, after which they start refunding you a tiny bit per day (sorry I can't provide the location on their website right now, navigating the site is nigh impossible on a tablet -_-). They have no qualms about working as close to the deadline as possible though; my Fir got shipped on day 99.

Anneke, oh my gosh my breath caught when I saw that picture. I love the combination of the wings of memory and Nalisinko's dress. I had to look again to see her little friend  I hope you feel better soon!

12. Oh she is such a beauty Anneke!
I always love seeing more Armeria girls :D *hugs thread* I really do love looking at all the pretty Rosettes here :3
Why oh why wont Soom just continue making Play limiteds? I really want to see a Peter Pan version. >A>;;

13. Provided the Muse body has the same size feet as the Pure body, the answer is yes :) My MNFs and Rosettes share shoes (it's about the only thing they can share, Rosettes are so skinny!)

ETA - sorry you've been sick Anneke, but YAY pictures of your Rosettes!

14. Hi there! I got a reply on a few questions that I had asked about the Rosettes. First, the dolls will already come with their standard hands, the ones you are choosing are in addition to that. Second, you don't need to order body blushing to get that paint job on the ears, they're sending them all painted as in the photos :D

Every time I look at those glittery ears I get a silly smile on my face. I guess my collection is getting a bit more deep into fantasy than I had planned at first. Not really complaining, though 8D

15. Hello ) I'm so happy to introduce my tender girl Calista :)
this is the first time I have done a make-up for a doll

16. enjoying the pictures so much (wow i love how everybody's Rosettes can look so DIFFERENT!), keep them coming!

17. Anneke, magnificent photo!
Aki_Ross, Calista is very tender. :D Congratulations with her

No problem )
Here is my Jote (still blank).

18. Lovely picture Anneke :)

19. Pinka- I LOVE your Jote! I really like the clothing style you have her in. ^^

20. Pinka, you have a cool rock-girl! ))

21. kaschan502, Ohh, even so? Thank you, it's very flattering! I hope with time I could make better image for her, not like a true lady, but something very different to other Rosettes and far from the default view.

Aki_Ross, Thank you very much! I hope to find with her closer contact and understanding. She is my dream that came true by sudden chance.

22. It's been a while since I posted here but now I'm back!
My Yuna is cosplaying a Mesmer from Guild Wars 2 mmorpg. The dress is made by wonderful silje :fangirl: I can't stress enough how much I'm grateful to her for making this dress so perfectly ^^ It's been my dream cosplay since the game was released, and now I finally have it! Yay!

23. Wow! That is too cool! It's that Twilight Arbor armor!!! Well done cosplay!

24. Holy smokes, Arc, that is fantabulous!!! No wonder you're so happy with it :love

25. Got a funny question now that I'm actually putting in my order for Vela...
When Soom's listing for a limited edition doll such as the Fairy Tale line shows a particular faceup, they do send the doll with that faceup, right?

I was really disappointed with my X-mas kit Fir's watered-down barely-there faceup, though to be fair, there were no promotional pics in that listing.

She's still pretty, but I feel like I needn't have spent the extra $50.

I really like the Cheshire Cat faceup and really hope they keep it that way >_<

26. The limited editions do come with the faceup shown. Since the Xmas Kits were just the basic dolls shipped unstrung and without a box, that was the faceup you received. I think the Muse faceup is a little darker, but they are both pretty light. Here's my girl with the Muse faceup (she's white skin).

27. I have found ALL of Soom's face-ups really hit or miss. My friend has surmised that one of their face-up artists has a very light touch, and the other one is bolder, and the one you get just depends on who is doing it.

28. indeed, my basic Violet faceup was very light as well. I liked the way cheeks were done, but lips and eyebrows were barely seen. Lips were painted over to refresh colour and it became much better. eyebrows however are not so easy to fix so I kept it for now ^^

29. Arc, I just love that gorgeous dress! She looks so very striking *_*

30. I agree about Soom's face-ups - very hit or miss. These days I opt out of face-ups because I've been disappointed in the past.

Arc-en-Ciel - that's a gorgeous photo! Beautiful dress and girl :)

31. Naw, so either hit-or-miss or on the pale side with Rosette faceups, huh? >.<
The slightly darker Muse faceup does go very nicely with the white skin though, amandylion.
I guess we'll see how the FT girls go when we get them. They do look substantially bolder than they've ever been before - at least at far back as the School Play, so at least we know bolder is what they're going for this time :)

On a side note... I just realised they had a Basic section - I'd been going to Body&Parts this whole time to check out the sculpts, and they only have a single low-res image for each girl! :doh (Ironically, Fir's faceup in the pictures is so faint I still can't tell if mine is the same one :sweat) Anyway, I only just learnt from the Basics pages that Fir is pronounced 'fear' not 'fur' xP

32. seriously?? I've been saying "Fer" all these years, as in "what the heck is that thing fer?" lol. d'oh!!

33. I always assumed it was pronounced like the tree, you know like Douglas Fir (which is not pronounced "fear", btw) I'm with Jola, Seriously??

34. right? Fir = green and that is her color ... it made sense that way.

35. It made me think of the Russian space station Mir that was in the news a bit a few years back, which I think turned out to be 'meer' when my friends and I all called it 'mer'.

I don't know, 'feer' does sound pretty weird after saying 'fur' for a few years. But that's what the Japanese Katakana spelled it out as (フィル firu, which is an approximation of 'feer'). Maybe they just made a spelling mistake? Since Soom's first language isn't Japanese... :P

36. Yeah- Fir= Fir tree. They are all named after plants and such! But then who knows! Remember that snowflake fairy Soom came out with that was a rude name in some other language?

37. After a year hiatus, I made the mistake of gradually checking BJDCollectasy again...and I saw Cheshire Cat Vela. Wow, was that a mistake. Just put my first layaway payment on her partial fullset:D

I'm personally in love with Sakura's outfit too, but was sadly too late do join in a split for it...

As for the Fir debate, I'm going with the tree! Especially with the plant/tree themed names, as pointed out. I'm very familiar with katakana/hiragana, but Japanese pronunciation is quite limited since it is a phonetic language (フィル is actually closer to sounding like "fill").

Oh, I want to add - I'm really loving the layaway checkout system the website has! I can't wait for my first Soom!

38. Congrats! I brought my first soom and first rosette home the beginning of last month ^^ wow.... I can't believe its been almost two months since she came home!

39. Congrats to everyone who is getting one of the Alice girls! I am still on the fence, which means that I probably should sit this one out. I really wish Soom would let us mix and match full-set components among the three girls, especially for such a slow-moving line like Rosettes.

To chime in on the Fir pronunciation discussion, I always pronounced it like "feer". It makes sense if it's pronounced like the tree, though!

40. Aww! I was really hoping you would go for Sakura, Anna, because I know you would take beautiful photos of her.

41. i'm sitting this one out (mostly because i'm broke!), but crossing my fingers for getting some shoes and victorian outfits ... someday. i hope this release does really well, tell your friends!

42. It's killing me not to get Rabbit Fir but I'm in no position right now. I love the clear resin ears! The outfits are great but super pricey, I usually don't buy them. At least Rosettes are easy to sew for.

I hope this release does well too! That's part of why I want to buy one of the dolls so much, so I can support the Rosette line!

43. You are tempting me! I would love to take photos of Sakura - she's lovely! I'm torn between showing my support for the line and not being 100% sure about Sakura's full-set. I suppose I still have a few days to mull it over

44. I have to sit this one out too. Finances are just too tight right now. :( I'm going to go cry over kitty Vela now.

Dear SOOM, my birthday is in September. That gives you 6 months to release the next Rosettes. Love, amandylion.

45. When the new Fairy Tale Rosette line was announced, I posted on the Q&A on Soom about getting a Vela on the Pure body and they responded:

"Dear customer,
Good day !
Thank you for your interest in our new dolls.
Unfortunately, this doll is available in Muse body only for now...
However, we do have some plans to release more Pure body Rosette this year.
Please check our Rosette site from time to time.^^

Best regards,
Victoria, SOOM"

So there is hope amandylion! ^^

btw- I just ordered a Pure Fir because I love her! ^_^ Yay for supporting the Rosette girlies!!

46. WOAH, I never realised this! :? Gosh, it all makes so much sense now... carmellia (which I didn't realise was spelled that way), violet, marguerite, sakura, and now I've learned armeria is a flower... They're such varied names of different regions and obscurity that I never made the connection =.=
Now that I remember it, I saw somewhere that the Rosette body is called the "Asphodel model"? That was also when I learned that asphodel was a flower

On the topic of finances, Vela is turning out to be a very expensive girl because of the low Aussie dollar... Just getting the doll and boots turned out to be no less than AU$500 (and the AUD had been on par with the USD for a while before this slump)! But oh my gosh I didn't want to wait any longer for a Vela >_<

LoveLily - Ooh interesting, I can't wait to see what they meant!

47. That is too funny! That is exactly what happened to me! I am not familiar with Soom but it sounds like the Rosettes are not popular. I wonder why? I really like their size!

I think you should do it, Anna! I am really tempted by Vela!

48. I've been dying for a Vela too but since I bought Fir in January and put an iplehouse on layaway I'm out of funds :( I've spent WAY more than I intended to this year so I cant buy anymore resin until next year. Only accessories, shoes, etc. for now.

49. Taxes got me recently (i file jointly w/ my husband and he did not withhold enough this year) so while i would LOVE to support Rosettes it's SELL SELL SELL! not BUY BUY BUY ;)

though honestly if it was a victorian release i would find the money somewhere, i can't resist those. Plus someday i hope to find a Fir and Marguerite that i really can fall in love with, so far only my Camellia and the Armeria twins have been keepers.

50. My split order went in at the 11th hour. Someone finally picked up Sakura so everyone was able to get what they wanted. I'm so relieved.

Participating in this release was super-important to me in the context of showing Soom that Rosettes were relevant and worth putting time into. Not to say that you guys not able to scoop one of them up are doing something wrong, but that's my take on it.

And now it's time to play the waiting game! Worry not Oethel, your sister is coming. Now it's time to come up with another linguistics pun for her....

51. congrats purplevix!! super excited for all of you guys <3 I hope this Rosette release is a super big success.

52. Noooooooo the soom website's domain name has expired *hyperventilates*
Just as I was about to order my Rosette :...(

EDIT 12:45 PM: Never mind, it's back up. Had me panicking there for a moment!

53. quick FYI - Musedoll just put up a new version of Antique Dream for their "petite" size which mostly fits rosette slim bodies ... i had the original on my Armeria Pure girl body and while it needed an underskirt because it was a bit short i liked the look. It's nice if you like that Jane Austen sort of look for your doll :)

54. I just have to share this picture...

Dark City

Hadassah looking sultry? It's like a universe ending paradox!

55. My girls are having a pajama party while waiting on me to finish their outfits and figure out the knee pan thing. I am enjoying all the posts here so much I've develped a 'Rosette Problem' in a very short period of time :)

56. *peeks in* I have a fir on layaway, would you all kind folks like to educate me in the rosette basics? Lol

57. Is that Delilah? I can't tell anymore! http://dollsoom.com/eng/shop/item.php?it_id=1396976307

Also, welcome to Rosette-hood, Kittywolf!! Umm, best advice I can give straight up is... umm.. don't be afraid to try stuff on her! That shirt looks too big? Try it! Too small? Give it a whirl :3 The best outfits were unexpected on my girl.

58. *comes out of woodwork* Holy cats they are making fantasy fairy Rosettes now!? Possibly with elf ears...??

Though I am a bit disappointed to see the same steampunk wings recycled. An Elf eared Rosette would make up dearly for that. Though I don't collect dolls anymore >.> No. Of course not. Not me.

59. Huh, interesting. Are those Vela's wings? She does look like Delilah, but it's difficult to tell for certain from the angle. I wonder if she's on the Pure body?
