[Adopted] Resinsoul and Bobobie Mini Discussion Thread - Part 31

May 17, 2016

    1. A wig cap seems to be helping with my Ming. I need to play around with the wig, though, since right now I think it's sitting too low and haven't been able to figure out how to get it to be higher on his forehead while still working with his ears. The ears are a bit challenging, but I adore his pointed ears.

    2. Hi, has anyone here also go a DC kid body of some kind? If so, please could they could put a ResinSoul msd head on & take a pic for me?
I'm hoping to make some hybrids & I'd be particularly grateful to see Ju & Song heads. :)

    3. I use sticky back velcro on all my dolls/wigs and with it the wigs stay on through anything including the doll being flipped upside down, jostled around, or even having the hair brushed as you would a human's :3 I use one piece in the front and one in the back (the one seen in the front on Elliot is put over the seam between the head and head cap like a hinge but the one in back is on the head part only and not the headcap, like the base of the skull)

    4. My problem with this solution is if you have an alpaca or mohair wig, you just keep hair staying on the velcro...
I love the silicone caps, they work the best for me...

    5. Thanks for the tips guys! :)

    6. Anyone else unable to get to the Resinsoul website? My malware blocker is suddenly blocking it - it was fine a couple of weeks ago.

    7. Howdy hey I lurk about here
It's working fine for me, but I don't think I have anything actively blocking it. That's kind of strange, I wonder if it's happening to others??

    8. @IndigoAndAsh Yep, same thing happening with me. It was fine a bit ago, and now my antivirus is like, "Don't do it!"

    9. Just tried it with Safari, no issues at all. I also got an email from Sun yesterday.

Here's Lettie! She's my first bjd and I love her! I finished her faceup yesterday but I'm still waiting on another pair of eyes to come in.

    11. Congratulations, she's beautiful!

    12. Oh, like the hoofs...

    13. I love how you've styled her!

    14. Awww what a cutie! I love her outfit and those hooves are just adorable.

    15. Thank you guys so much! <3 I wanted to go for like a dark mori style for her, but I also might try out pastels because I love pastels and I can't resist.

    16. @scoodi Letti looks so cute!!! Are those hooves cast in black? Or painted?
I went ahead and custom ordered a Song with Jun's fin ears in a custom blue, I can't wait to see what Resinsoul will do =D

    17. @P-Aei wonderful! Song is my favorite RS sculpt, and with Jun's ears in blue, so pretty! Please share pictures!

My second favorite RS sculpt is Ming. I had both Song and Ming when I first joined the hobby. I miss them both.

    18. She's beautiful! :love Congrats! :)

    19. They're just painted! Though if I had the ability to go back in time I would totally get them cast in black, they chip pretty easily.

    20. Wataru loves the camera! He is such a diva but I love him

    21. He's fabulous! I love the parasol!

    22. That pose if off the hook!:D Was it a total nightmare to get him into that pose?

    23. [IMG]

      @kurogane Thank you

@Girrl Not at all. I picked him up & said, "Do this for daddy & I will buy you new shoes." Lol, it's true that is what I told him. He is on the double jointed body with girl high heel feet. Having the high heel feet let me angle his body back but with high heels he was able to hold that angle. For the first time that weird inward bend that the legs do when bent came in handy because it made the knees buckle down giving it support to not give out & bend. Next was bending the double jointed torso so it can distribute the weight of the head & parasol evenly. It only took one try & he held it. The picture on top should show what i mean. Sorry I think I rambled in that explanation

    24. What a pose! A true Diva to be sure...absolutely gorgeous!:D

    25. @gaiboiozz what a pretty boy! and since he did the pose, what shoes are you getting him :XD:

    26. I have a question about Resinsoul's ability to make dolls in custom colours. If a colour you want is something that you don't have a body or whatever that you want to match it to (ie. if you're just getting a full doll in a custom colour), can you just e-mail them a picture of the colour you want, or do you have to, like, match it to a popular paint's colour swatch, or what?

Also, is it only me that can't access Resinsoul's site currently because of a malware warning? It's been like that for a while now for me and I just wanna make sure that nothing happened to their site.

    27. @Galatea I use Safari as my browser, and no malware issues. I don’t know about other browsers, but a few posts ago people were having the same issue as you. As for requesting a custom color, I know RS can use email pictures, but with different monitor settings the color might not be exact. RS also uses the Pantone color system, so getting the number of the color you want would be really helpful. I tried this route, but I didn’t have access to a Pantone color book as they cost over $100, and I was just too hesitant to call up printing businesses and ask if I could look at theirs. You can also snail mail Sun actual paint swatches to get the desired color. I think that would be the best way. Just email Sun and ask, he’s so helpful! What color are you wanting?

    28. Hmm, weird. I'm using Firefox and it's just not letting me see the site at all. :huh?:

Anyway, I was thinking about one day getting a doll on a kind of dark blue/grey colour. The greys that are more "default" are too light and/or a little too brown/grey for my liking. But thank you for telling me about the Pantone thing! That's really helpful. :3nodding:

    29. @Galatea maybe try this? It's a colour finder on pantone's site. It's probably still not ideal because monitor differences, but it's what I used to email Sun with for a reference.

    30. Thank you very much! You're all so helpful. :blush

    31. @Galatea your’re welcome! A dark blue grey color would be so pretty! I also like the blue greys over the brown based ones. What sculpt, and any special character?

    32. A Sui sculpt to shell a D&D Drow character of mine, actually.

    33. @Galatea This is the photo I sent Resinsoul for a color comparison, I told them I wanted Cyan blue and they kept offering their sky blue, but I wanted something a lot stronger hahaa. So I took a photo of this plastic toy next to their sky blue. I can't wait to see what it'll turn out like. I really hope its not sky blue lol... (The blue doll is my friend's Resinsoul Sui! I'll see if I cant get him to share more photos of him.)

Im so excited for my song + U+ He'll have fishy dragon ears like Jun I cant wait to see. I hope your order goes well!

    34. Walt went with me to the Renaissance Festival yesterday. Everyone kept assuming he was a girl because of his long hair. xD He seemed more interested in checking out the scenic bits with plants than visiting the booths...

    35. Hello every one! I have kind of a history RS Question here. Was there ever a time that RS didnt put the stamps on the back of the heads? would an earlier doll not have one at all?

      thanks =)

    36. Hi there! I'm thinking of maybe grabbing a ResinSoul doll for my first doll; I've been eyeballing the 45cm Tang and the 42cm Ya for a duo of characters. Are there any special maintenance things I'd need to know regarding RS dolls (for example, would the bodies need to be restrung first off), or any other quirks?

    37. Mine came a little tight, so knowing how to restring is always a bonus, but there hasn't been anything quirky otherwise!

    38. It's been nearly six months of waiting for my lilac Ariel from Bobobie. Every time I ask about it they say 20 days, but still no doll. It's also too late to get a paypal refund, and I'd rather want the doll. Is there anything I can do other than despair?

    39. Waiting is part of this hobby. If you don't want to wait, the only thing you can do is look for dolls in stock or on the second hand market. No doll company will refund you just because you are tired of waiting for the doll. When you order the doll, you are making a commitment to that doll. It cost the companies money to have them made and cast which is why you cannot just change your mind like that. If you don't want the doll anymore you can sell it when it arrives.

    40. @Draiol I'd contact them again, let them know that you've been waiting for 6 months and that others have gotten dolls before you, and say that you're very disappointed with their service. Quote the 20 days emails from earlier, say that it's been well over 20 days, attach a copy of your payment receipt, and include your shipping address.

Commitment, yes, but they're still running a business, and fulfilling other orders in front of yours is a bad practice they should be aware of.

    41. @Draiol earlier in this thread there were complaints about Bobobie’s lack of customer service, and ridiculous wait times. Since they are a separate company from Resinsoul, they have their own way of doing things. I do think six months is a bit long as RS has been taking only a month, even for custom orders. Hang in there!

    42. This isn't about waiting times, I've waited really long for other dolls and this isn't my first doll. Nor am I changing my mind in any way about if I want it or not.? I know how this works.

This is about the fact that they keep stringing me along for almost half a year when their original quote was 40-50 days, and every time I inquire about it I hear 20 days and then nothing. Every time! They are also the sister company of Resinsoul, who sends dolls in a month or three with good communication, which makes them look even worse. As far as I know Bobobie is in charge of the casting between the two companies, even.

If a company does not send your doll at all, you are 100% in the right for refund, because you paid for a product that never arrived. Usually they even tell you about it and apologize! Instead I have to wait 3-8 days for even an email back when I ask.

Thank you. It's pretty much what I have been doing, without luck, but I'll keep it up. It's not even a custom order or anything, just a lilac color and the dang Ariel head that's a Bobobie-only.

I'll keep on trying! I could wait a year if it was quoted for that, but this is just ridiculous. =/

    43. A new discussion thread: Part 32 !

      :)
