[Adopted] Resin Soul mini discussion (resinsoul) Part 1

Thank you everyone for the pictures. I've been thinking about getting a Jun for some time now and these helped convince me ^_^

To elfmoon: I love the gills you added.

 

Say, does anybody have a picture of the comparison colors (on a doll) of the ResinSoul colors blue and gray? I'm sorry for asking this, but those two colors from the pictures I've seen look very similar. Or maybe it's just me...

 

Here's Jolen. He's blue resin. I think the flash washes him out somewhat and it did some wonky things with his eyes.

 

Thanks! Does anybody here own a gray version of Jun as well? That way I can decide on what color is best to get...

 

I was too excited not to post this. I finally got a new wig for Jun (not the wig I was planning on, but when I found it I had a O_O moment) and I LOVE it!

Resinsoul website is down and has been for a couple od days. Does anyone knowwhy.
I'm finally ready to order my Song and my daughters Mei and this happens

 

Hummm, I don't know! No one has mentioned it before? You could order from Bobobie, but they were backed up for a while. I ordered my RS body from Denver Doll Emporium, who orders them from BBB directly, and soon after, Denver Doll stopped taking BBB orders because they were so backed up. My doll took 3 months, about 13 weeks to arrive. I think I remember they warned me at the time that it was a long wait, and soon after decided not to take orders 'cause most people get upset. I didn't, I just waited

So, here I'm going to guess, LOL, but what if RS is so far behind in orders because BBB isn't fulfilling their orders fast enough and decided to close for a while? I don't think thats it though... My bet would be that they're in China, and their ISP went down, that's what I'd guess. I doubt the ISP is as fast as ours to fix their systems when they get broken cause ours have to pay for the time they're down (by not charging I think) So... ???

Ach, it sucks though, 'cause you're ready and they're not there!!!! So sorry!

 

RS is very much not behind on their orders. Dolls still get shipped within 4 weeks when you order directly from them. For some reason it doesn't seem to matter that bobobie is lacking so much lately, because RS is still completely up to date.
My guess is they're either fixing the many errors on their website or there's some issue with the provider or server or whatever.

 

Aye... my Ju arrived in under five weeks only a few months ago. If they are finally working on a long over due site over haul it's a pity that they didn't post a warning of their intentions on the site prior to taking it down. if that's the case that is.

I am tempted to email Sun directly to enquire but I'll give it a few more days.

JS has the Mei my daughter wants. I emailed them enquiring about shipping thinking i could get it to her sooner. I don't think I want to wear the $40 odd dollars it would cost in shipping though (Ju only cost me just under $10 to ship direct from RS.)

 

The resinsoul site, www.resinsoul.com , is working just fine for me tonight. Just thought you might want to know. I hope it's back to working for you, too!

 

Totally and completely late, BUT if anyone is still interested, I measured the thickness of the chord that my RS body came with and it looks pretty much like it's 1/8 of an inch thick in diameter. I put in a fairyland chord into that body that was much stronger and slightly thicker. You can't get ANY thicker than that Fairyland chord because that long neck hole is only so big, and it's tight. So I have the RS arms still in the original chord and the body with Fairyland Chord.

I think to be safe, wait until your doll gets there, then take a sample of the chord, or just undo her, to the nearest fabric store and see if you can find something stronger and not much thicker. In fact, this RS chord may not quite be 1/8" and the FL chord may be 1/8" That's how close they were. I think if you find a stronger "snap" to the chord, you'll do well.

Yaaay! Say, does the site look better? Or was it always so much better than the BBB site?

 

IngieBee: Well...I don't really frequent the RS site...I normally go to Bobobie instead unless I'm looking for a RS doll not listed on the BBB site...so I can't tell if there are any changes or not! I don't remember what it looked like before it went down!

I'm feeling so horribly antsy to buy a new doll! But no money, so I have to be good, LOL. Gosh I sometimes wish I had a job, but then I see my kids and thank goodness I get to be home and spend some time with them before they're grown and gone :P

Now if hubby would just make enough money to give me a real allowance.... sigh, wouldn't that be nice!!! In the mean time, I got a birthday in July, LOL.... maybe, just maybe I'll get some money from Mom! She gave me $50 for Christmas (wigs n eyes) and told me not to spend it on "those dolls" LOL, silly mommy!

 

My beautiful Lan and Jun, Lavender and Gill, just got back home from getting new faceups! They hardly look like the same dolls! I'm insanely pleased with how they turned out.

 

I love Gill's brow color! They both look awesome! Congratulations! BTW, does Gill have cat eyes in?

 

I've just placed an order with RS and spoken to Sun. Everything is working as normal. (I didn't enquire as to why the site went down though.)

I've picked up two extra shifts to pay for the two new dolls I have on order. I'm not comfortable using my normal income to pay for doll stuff. I only feel justified if it's extra money I have earned on top of what i normally make. Luckily my work sometimes has shift vacancies that i can fill in for.

Ingiebee... is there any home industries you could do on the side to make a little extra income for personal savings. Prior to going back to work i used to do drawing commissions and craft work. It only paid a little here and there but it was enough to give me some pocket money.

Teska: They make a lovely couple. Is that green blushing on Gill's ears as well. Sweet contemporary clothes. they'd look perfect on a beach.

 

Thanks! And actually, those are silver Volks Metallics. I think they just look like cat eyes because of the size and placement, I noticed that today myself. I think I need to either adjust them, or go down a size.

Yes, she blushed his ears as well, and now they're even more gorgeous than before! I didn't think to get a good shot of his ear when I was taking pictures this afternoon, so I'll see what I can get tomorrow, so you can see it!

 

Chaypeta, I supported the family for 15 years, out of the house before dawn, back late, never seeing the kids (except for the 6 weeks after birth, it sucked! I quit, and put it on my husbands shoulders, and therefore we have no money, LOL. BUT, until the kids are grown, until he makes a good living and won't give up, I'm staying home Also, this house is falling apart, and with hardly any money, I'm slowly trying to fix things. I did the family room last summer, adding a huge closet and a cabinet nook in the dining room, this winter, I redid the bathroom, but it's not completely finished, have a couple more things to fix, and next, I need to deal with a wall in the living room. I'd like to redo all the doors and windows, but we don't have the money for that. As long as supplies are cheap enough, and all I need is my labor, I can do the work No pay, but hubby appreciates it,and doesn't complain too much when I buy a few goodies LOL.

So, I really don't have the time! LOL, though a couple of years ago, I did work at my favorite electronics store in customer service with young ones That's fun too, and I might go back to it, as I could work while the kids were in school Love being with the young kids, they're cute But I spent way more than I made there, ROFLMAO

But I'm about to get sewing again, Yaaaay

 

I think mine are 16mm, but I'm not sure. I hear that 14 fit just fine though!

 

Ingiebee: i know exactly what you mean. I went back to work after only a nine month break when my first was born and have been working pretty much ever since. I do part time- 47:30 hours a week on night shift so I still get time with my kids... but it plays havoc with my internal clock and i feel chronically jet lagged. I'd love to quit and be a stay at home... but with my husband loosing his job twice in the last three years... through NO fault of his own... I'm too nervous to leave this house without some kind of income.

Know what you mean with the house falling apart. Our bathroom desperately needs renovating and we need new carpets in the lounge room and new curtains. Also our backyard was not rebuilt after we extended so it's still a mess. (Looking to take out a loan for that as we need to level it and start from scratch and we want decking.)

Teska, I love the eyes you have in your Lan. What size are they, and from whom? I can't seem to get any of the ones I have to fit that nicely.

 

They're 11mm Eyeco soft glass, I bought them from Safrin Doll. They really do fit lovely, even with her deep eye wells.

 

Chaypeta, yah, sounds like you know just what I mean Hang in there, it's what life is about I guess, struggling and struggling and trying to do what's right. Hopefully a little fun and reward will come our way once in a while to make it all worth while

Teska, I really am falling for Lan, her expression is so pretty and thoughtful, not blank-doll like at all!

 

Teska, thanks! Just looked through Safrin Doll a little, and I think I have a few possible choices, both for my Lan and my Jun. I was beginning to think I would never find a decent set of eyes for her without sanding down the sockets a little. This is much easier. ^_^

Also, three cheers for Lan/Jun Pairings. They make such a lovely couple, don't they?

 

They make a beautiful couple! But Lan has such a serene beauty, I think she'd be lovely with just about anyone. I need to post pictures of them with their twin daughters, a pair of Felixdoll Brownies.

And I'm glad to help on the eyes! I had exactly the same problem until I decided to try the soft glass eyes. You can really squish them into her eyewells, so they fit much better. I can actually see her eyes from most angles when I take pictures of her!

Me too! That's one of the things that originally drew me to the Lan mold. In some pictures it photographs really crooked/bumped looking, but really in person it's barely noticeable at all. Makes her seem a lot more realistic not having a perfectly smooth, straight nose.

Lan's nose was the deciding factor for me too! I love her nose. More dolls should have noses like hers, but I guess if they did, she wouldn't be so beautifully unique.

 

Dang, I'm trying to save up for a doll, and my daughter is demanding a RS doll. What can I do? She so owns me! Ugh. I have 'till May to come up with enough to buy her another doll, ugh! She kills me!

We've talked about the problems with wigs and those big ears on Ju and Jun. . . .Just wanted to share a picture of my two in size 5-6 -- yes, 5-6 -- stretch wigs. These are Jpop Paris Long. It's not even that hard to stretch them on Ju, a little bit more work on Jun. One piece of velcro at the back bottom of the headcap, attach the wig there and then pull it up and over the forehead. The smaller wigs lie snug to the head (no bulge that you get with the 6-7 wigs) and have no problem staying on, despite the ears. I had a 5-6 Monique Jo-Jo on Jun earlier and it too worked well.

Hello, I'm recently new here I just bought my first bjd, Mei from Resinsoul. I'm having a hard time finding clothes to fit her. Does anyone have any suggestions?

Mei's head is not quite 7 inches around, so she wears a 7 wig. 7/8 wigs tend to be a little big, 6/7 tend to fit better. I don't know about the Luts wigs specifically, though. Personally, I would buy the 6/7 rather than going with a 7/8 whenever I have the choice to do so.

14mm-16mm. I have 16mm in mine, because I like the look of more iris and less white to the eyes. Here's a dead on face shot so you can see what my girl looks like with the 16mm eyes:

HI guys I have a Resinsoul Lu and i discovered something that sucks for those of us using Liv girls wigs. Long story short, the second generation liv girl wigs have really suffered a drop in hair quality. The original first gen Liv girl wigs were moderately thick and very soft and silky to the touch. The fibers were thin and very high quality for a $6.00 wig.

The new wigs have a slightly greasy feel to them and no matter how I combed them the plastic cap was always visible. When held up in front of a strong light It shows through very strongly on the new wigs.

I took pics for comparison but none of them turned out well. If anybody's interested i can retake them when I get home from work.

 

Raesha: I LOVE her nose, that slight bump in it gives her SO much more character. She is such an elegant lady... and so many clothes. I am getting seriously jealous of her wardrobe!

T2P: I saw Liv dolls at our Toys'R'Us. they only had the wigs in purple and pink seperate from the dolls. A pity about the drop in quality. they looked like a nice inexpensive alternative for wigging.

And the Liv world wigs...at least the old ones, are GREAT for the BBB and RS 27cm kids. I have them for my 27cm girls. And when you've got the 27cm girls from BBB and RS, it can be worth it to buy a whole doll if it has an outfit and wig you like. Outside of the tight pants the 27cm girls can wear the clothes, too. Mine do. And if you've a doll that wears 8mm eyes and you like the acrylic ones that are in the Liv doll, too, you can cut open her head and cut the eyes out from the inside, too. I'll have to check out the newer ones myself to decide if I think they're still worth buying or not.

Back on topic of Mini sized dolls. *laughs* I got to do a small photoshoot with Yllora the other day (ONE day of sun amongst a WEEK now of overcast skies and mini storms!) that I really liked. Hello, I've begun to buys clothes for my Mei, I've named her Hana, here are my pics of her that I got from dollmore, i did have to take the top of the dress in at the side & the shoes are a bit big so I kept the tissue stuffed in at the toes. Hope you like

 

Great thing about ResinSoul, is you pretty much can fit any Tyler Wentworth clothes

For the wigs, if you get size 6-7 and Monique or Jpop, they have nice stretch to them

T2P you can get lovely wigs from kemper that go on sale often when their stock is low. They're very nice wigs too! AND they tend to have shallow wig caps which fit RS and Bobobie elves very well!

nanachan, I just LOVE Dollmore clothes, ugh! Just went in on a GO and have tons of stuff coming! WElll, not tons, but the fixings for 5 outfits Your doll looks beautiful!

 

IngieBee: If you're asking about the silver beaded one, then, yeah, I made it. In a little while when I have more time to work on dolly projects for my own dolls (have some more swap gifts and just because gifts to get out of the way first) I'll be getting a lot of photos of my dolls in the necklaces and other pretty jewelry I plan to bead for them. I've been doing beadwork now for officially 15 years...dolly sized for about 2. If you look in the Sewing, wigs, and jewelry making section I've a thread there with doll pieces I've made as swap gifts. Need to update it.

The simple gean strand that Yllora wears a lot now, though, was a gift in a swap. She likes it, so wears it more than her silvery ones I made. She says they're too nice/fancy for her current look.

I made Ken's wig, and while there's more pink than I meant for there to be originally, I love it! Now for the weather to get to where I can give the poor boy a face!
